“E-mu SP12 Sampler (Turbo) It works, but not great. It needs to be refurbished. Comes with floppy drive. I’ve own this sampler since the early nineties! This sampler is a piece of history to “Old School” Hip-Hop artist. Raw, gritty, non digital sound!!! I’m selling all of my equipment. ” Link

“CONDITION RATING *- Very good. The unit shows some sign of normal use, some light scuffs around certain edges as well as a few slightly bent (but still very much functional) fader knobs. Overall, though, it has been kept up very well. Solid & sturdy and in great shape! The machine powers up fine, with the display working perfectly and all interface buttons functioning. However, the unit is not generating actual audio properly. The drum buttons either produce no sound, or simply a static beep, and sequences will not run. Being such a popular unit, having this repaired is not a problem.

With the above being stated, this item is SOLD AS IS. ” Link

“You are bidding on the E-mu SP12 Turbo, the legendary drum sampler that helped start the hip hop revolution. Legendary 12 bit sound! The predecessor of the SP1200. Hard Rocking Beats all day long! Recently gone through, new front panel and new battery installed. Now for the little issues. Notice the back label panel has come off on one side. Not really pretty but all inputs and outputs work great. Also, the tap jack housing has broken off on the back panel. The jack is still intact, just wasn’t able to find a complete replacement for it (otherwise I would have replaced it). Backlight is out BUT LCD screen works fine. Great sounding Drum Machine/Sampler! You won’t be disappointed.” Link

“You are bidding on an Emu SP12 Sampling Percussion model 7021 (Turbo Ver. 2.6) *This SP12 has been fully tested and in excellent working condition. It has just gone-through an extensive cleaning/servicing. Every part/component/connection has been cleaned of all dust/residue. Every IC was cleaned/re-seated. All buttons, potentiometers, and sliders have been cleaned for optimal performance. The unit has also just had a brand new backup battery installed! If you are familiar with the Emulator II, or SP1200 then you will certainly value of this kind of machine. The cosmetic condition of this SP12 is also very nice. The slider caps are from an Oberheim DMX drum machine. The Emu Systems SP12 is the holy grail of 12-bit drum samplers, using SSM filter chips for the most beautiful of sounds!! AC line included ” Link

“This *was* a fully-working unit with Turbo Upgrade and the newest OS 2.6 – all outputs, sliders, buttons, knobs worked great…

I used this almost daily up until 3 months ago when I tried to install a new LED-lighted Display. (The original display worked fine – it just wasn’t backlighted). The thin cable that went to the original display had to be destroyed – I replaced with regular hook-up wire. I also removed the High-Voltage Inverter that supplied a large voltage to the original backlight (it was no longer working anyways). Apparently I did something wrong or messed something up because it no longer works.

So, I placed the “old” display back in and the unit still doesn’t work. I checked all the DC voltages and everything looks OK. I can’t find the problem! I’m sure it’s something simple for anyone who knows how to work on these old digital devices…I guess I can only fix analog circuits. Oh, I also installed a new battery 3 months ago.

When turning the unit “on”, it “Boots-up” OK – all the LEDs flash and cycle like normal….but the display shows some weird stuff and the unit doesn’t appear to work properly. The pads don’t trigger the drum sounds like normal and I’m unable to program sequences.

Oh, I wish I hadn’t even attempted this job because this is probably the easiest sampler to use and has a VERY NICE sequencer and punchy sound. I just don’t know anyone nearby who can fix it and I’m moving soon so I guess I’ll get rid of it.

The body is slightly warped, there are some small cracks in the face-label, and the unit is missing a couple of screws.

The unit is sold AS-IS, for repair, and not currently working. NO REFUNDS, NO RETURNS, SALE IS FINAL.” Link

“Vintage and much saught after E-MU SP-12 Percussion Sampler. My brother bought and used this extensively in the 80′s. It’s sounds are on many Miami rap albums of the day. It has mostly sat since the late 90′s. It powers up with v2.6 TURBO version of the firmware as you can see in the pics. It comes with the pictured road case and power cord. The case’s foam has degraded in some spots (but still protects the unit fine) and the unit will need a good cleaning” Link

“MUST GOOOOOOOO!!

RARE Vintage EMU sp12 TURBO sampler/drum machine for sale.

EXELLENT CONDITION (All Outputs Fully Tested plus Battery replaced)

I have completed a number of projects with this baby!

This is the BEST Drum machine ever!! Awesome On-board Sounds and Sequencer! plus You can sample your own drums!!!!

Personally I prefer this one over the sp1200 and mpc60 due to its HARD HITTING, CRUNCHY Drums!

No media device. (you can get them on ebay, but they’re very slow and unstable. It’s better to record right away without saving)

I usually sampled drums, created a number of short sequences, and recorded them right away to protools.

NEW Batteries are replaced. No backlight. Missing a few knob covers and bolts on the back (Does not affect function, Fully Functioning!).

*Auction includes Sampler and Power cord (free voltage).” Link

“This is one of histories great drum machines! – the SP12 from Emu. It has the upgraded sample memory and software TURBO version 2.6 and unlike the SP1200 the original built in sound set from Emu, which is very usable and cool! The Sp12 is in great condition – there’s one area where the color is a bit rubbed off, next to the bass drum buttons – see pics …. Other than that really clean and nice. It has 3 custom handmade hardwood knobs which is a nice little touch. Comes with the old 1541 drive from Commodore plus 20 NOS unused disks. And the very rare connector cable to hook up the drive. I am unable to really test the harddrive – the redlight stays on permanently – I am not sure if this is normal or not. So I am throwing it in for free, so to speak … some buttons sometime react a bit slowly I felt, but when you hit them a few times they are fine. If you start programming on this it immediately sounds like rap or R&B – that’s where it all started, grainy in your face 12bit EMU sound! Click on the pictures to enlarge.” Link

“Well I have had this SP-12 since it was new. I feel like I am losing an old friend here. But honestly have not used this sampler in 15 years or so. At the time when these had just come out I bought two of them. One was on the road 24/7 the other one stayed in my studio. Overall it is in great condition. There is a small chip on the left corner and scratch on the right. ” Link

“This is the legendary EMU SP12, the predecessor of the SP1200. This piece is known by many musician and vintage gear collectors alike. I won’t bore you with things that you probably already know about this machine, as I’m sure if you’re looking at it then you definitely know what you would be getting. All features on this machine work to my knowledge. It is in great condition. I haven’t had it very long. I’ve only used it once. I just need to downsize my workspace so I am going to let it go. The drum machine comes with the old standard commodore floppy drive. This piece is from Europe so it comes with the European cords but a converter will be including at no charge.” Link

I bought this E-mu SP-12 Sampler/drum machine an estate sale about a year ago. I never got the manual for it, so I never figured out how to program it to play back a song but I hooked it up to an amp and I was able to get it to trigger the samples and the outputs all seem to work fine. The backlit display is clear and easy to read. From what I have been told this is not the ‘Turbo’ model (I was told the word “Turbo” would pop up on the screen if it was. The display does not say “Turbo” on this one). The volume pots and some of the sliders definitely need cleaning as they are a bit scratchy. Other than that, I really don’t know anything more about this, so the sale is AS IS. If you are in the area and know more about these you are definitely welcome to come by and check it out. Otherwise $500.00 or Best Offer takes it.” Link

“You are bidding on an ‘extremely’ rare E-mu SP12 Turbo sampling drum machine ideal for a collector/producer in perfect working order. This machine is one of 20-25 ever made as it has ‘Emulator SP-12′ on the front facia ( this has been confirmed by the ‘Emulator Archive’) This is a pre production model and was used by Syco Systems as thier demo machine. Serial no is’ 4′ and OS revision is 2.5 (the OS eproms have Syco Systems stamped on them). It also has ‘Drumulator II’ stamped on the main PCB, again this is was because the SP-12 was going to be called the Drumulator II before E-mu changed their minds, you wont find this on a standard model. The Turbo model has quadruple the sampling time of the standard model. It comes complete with a Commodore 1541 mk2 5/1/4 floppy drive and connecting cables (this was the fastest drive for this machine). It’s been fully serviced and all sliders and buttons work perfectly. It also comes with the original operation manual. There are a few few scrapes and digs here and there but nothing serious. The ‘only’ reason for this sale is to pay for a new set of studio monitors and is very reluctant. Will ship wordwide at purhasers expense and is 240/110 volts switchable.” Link

“This Drum Machine is in prefect condition. It was used slightly in my recording studios, at Technimedia Studios in Steubenville, OH from about 1985 through 1992 for Jingle Production. It has been in the closet ever since. It has never been on the road ever. I believe that it is the Turbo version, but I not positive about it so assume that it is not, none the less it is a great machine. If you would like for me to check that somehow, if you know how, let me know and I will check it.” Link

“You are bidding on a EMU SP-12 sampling drum machine in excellent condition. Comes with power cord and all knobs and sliders. A 16 disk library is included with another 16 back up discs of the same library. I just took this baby out of service. The disc drive has died but you can get a 3.5” floppy for this and use the library which has a lot of sounds from the 80’s and special one’s too! Has Turbo 2.5 software installed. The Turbo adds another 2.5 seconds of sampling time. Most cats have the box but the library is what will make this unit complete. Yes, you know its 12 bit sound but if its grooving the bits don’t mean a thing. All buttons and sliders work. There are some surface scratches, but they are minimal. Was kept in a clean, smoke free environment. ” Link

“This sale comes with commodore 64 disk drive, bunch of disks of sounds, original manual etc.

This machine is used, 1 owner before me. Everything works. Volume knob has a little bit of static that will easily cease once its being used on the regular. Body is good/great shape. A little dis-colorization near the bottom buttons on the keypad, but nothing major.

Unit loads up as a TURBO on the screen, but only has 1.4 seconds of sampling time. Chip might be bad, or loose. I’m not gonna worry about it. You can order a TUBRO kit for $150 from some guys in CA that I will point you out to. Simple swap of the chip and you get a TURBO with 5 seconds of sampling.” Link
