“Hi, and thanks for looking! This auction is for a Yamaha SHS-10R vintage 1980′s keytar. This item has been tested and given a light cleaning. It does work, sounds great, all buttons were tested and it all works perfectly. Pitch bend, voice selection, etc, all works. I do not have the equipment to test the MIDI functions. This one does have the very important battery cover, and both strap buttons are still present. It is unmodified. There is a couple light scratches on the body in a few spots but no outright abuse. This is a good instrument and you will enjoy its awesome sounds. As you can see in the picture, some of the keys lean to one side, I don’t know why that is, they work fine, and are not loose. ” Up for sale is a Yamaha SHS 10 Keytar/MIDI controller. The device is in very good condition, both cosmetically and electronically, the one minor snag is that is has no battery door on the back, but I have never had a problem with the batteries falling out or anything like that. Its had light use and I have taken very good care of it. It runs on double A batteries (6 of them) and that battery life is fairly long. There are 44 voice selections and 44 style selections. A chord sequencer, rhythm control, and a pitch wheel. And various settings such as tempo and tuning. It will plug into an amplifier or double as a MIDI keyboard. ” Decent condition, comes with an AC adapter, and works fine other than a few things:
1) Key broke off (please see pictures) but looks like an easy fix.
2) The rear panel is pushed in slightly (as can be seen from the pictures). The midi port works fine, but the power turns on and off when it’s moved around (you have to move the pin up slightly for it to stay on. Battery power works fine though so it definitely still plays! I’m pretty sure this isn’t a difficult repair if you wanted it fixed.
This keytar was an absolute blast to play, and as an added bonus I used to hook it up as a controller for my Alesis keyboard and it sounds ridiculously awesome! Also, this one actually still has it’s battery cover (a lot of them lose that for some reason).” Link

“THE ORIGINAL KEYTAR!!!
This is a Yamaha SHS-10 (aka The Original Gangsta). This model was originally introduced in 1987, and it quickly started the Keytar revolution. This SHS-10 happens to be red – the most desirable color (only black, silver and red were made).
This keytar is in great working condition. All of the keys and all of the settings work. The battery door has been misplaced over time, so it’s not included (see photos). There is a wall power supply included, but it’s not the original Yamaha one. Both of the original strap knobs are in place, so you can throw a guitar strap on and start rocking/keying up right away.
The cosmetic condition of this unit is very good. Light surface marks, but no cracks or signs of abuse to the plastic. The internal speaker works and is nice and loud. The number display also works.
To sum this up – this is an OG keytar from the 80′s, and it’s in good shape for it’s age. What more could you ask for” Link
