“I’ve had this for six months and have had a blast with it. But I still find myself using my juno 6 more and I’d like to send this to someone who will give it love it every day of the year.

The synth is in perfect working order and great cosmetic shape with no scratches or nicks. it comes with the original case

I’ve had it tuned up at Main Drag where they fixed a faulty broken tuning pot and did general cleaning.

The SH2 is a 2 oscillator monosynth from the early eighties. It also has a noise filter too for creating swaths of ambient awesomeness. I have used the noise filter to make some really cool cymbal type sounds for drum programming.

It has the heaviest square/triangle bass Ive heard. Much faster attack than, for example, the minimoog.

each Oscillator has four octaves and functions independant of the other. you can tune and detune them to your hearts content.

What Ive used this for most of all has been feeding drum programming , mostly kick drums, through its external input and filtering the signal to create subs which you can then tune to the track. It’s amazing what this does for tracks. ” Link

“Roland SH 2 is around 30 years old. It the Japanese version, but has been upgraded to US voltage 1 year ago. It operates perfectly with standard 117V US power. Oscillator 1 is a little wonky I never have been able to get it to track properly. May be easy for a tech to fix, but I never opened the synth up. Oscillator 2 seems to track perfect. I may be setting some things ups wrong but I’m not sure. Its analog and analog can be a little wonky sometimes. Patience is neccessary for a synth like this so keep that in mind. I have enjoyed it and will provide a demo of the actual synth in action so you can hear it. It is a great noise maker, but tuning may be something you want to address. ” Link

“Roland SH-2 Synthesiser with Rare Roland CB-09 Case.

Check out my other auction for a Roland CSQ-600 CV/Gate Sequencer.

Fully working and very good condition overall considering the age.Cool serial number(well I think so)

The case will fit the CSQ-600 or SH-09 as well.

There is some glue residue on the back from a sticker sometime in it’s former life.It does come off a little, but I left it as it’s not a problem.Other marks are more visible in the pictures due to the close up nature of the photographs, and are not as apparent in real life.” Link

“Roland SH-2 Analogsynthesizer in hervorragendem Zustand / Roland SH-2 Analog Vintage Synthesizer in Near-Mint Condition

I finally decided to sell my Roland synth because I was rarely using it for my music-making. It’s a shame to have it just standing around. The SH-2′s specialities are leads, sequencer-sounds and basses of the more harder kind. You can get a bit more grimey, dirty sounds out of it and it has a less round sound compared to e.g. a Minimoog. The keys are great and editing is straight-forward.
Zustand / Condition

The synth is in near-mint condition. Check the photos! There may be some very minor scratches, if any. The optional bag looks great, too. There are no functional issues or faults. It has, like any old analog synth, some instabilities when reproducing sounds. These form the character of such a unit and are not some sort of malfunctioning.” Link

“Overall, the synth has seen some use during those long 30 years

but every function still works as it should!

and I have also rebuild both oscillators and outputs stages (brand new ICs are socketed and fitted instead of old rusted ones)

All plastic knobs are present except the portamento slider (check the pictures) but it doesn’t affect anything!

Some marks on the back panel near Roland logo (check the pictures)” Link

“This synth has been well used but well loved. It is over 30 years old and has a few paint chips to prove it, but as you can see from the pics it’s in good condition. Everything works perfectly on it, the only minor issue is that a lot of the sweep on the volume knob happens in the last third as you turn it, but in my experience, people tend to max the volume on synths and then adjusts amps/PAs accordingly, so not a real issue. It’s a remarkably versatile synth with a simple yet powerful interface, and is great fun to use. ” Link

Link

“For your consideration: A used Roland Sh – 2 analog synthesizer keyboard. It is in absolutely pristine condition considering its age. Wear and tear is very minimal, no scrathes, scrapes, or rust. It was completely serviced, tuned and cleaned 1 year ago and given a clean bill of health. All functions (keys, sliders, knobs, switches, inputs outputs, cv gates) work 100%. A serious collectors piece for synthesizer lovers…hard to find one of these in such outstanding shape. I am slimming down my studio, as I no longer have time for all my toys, ” Link

“You are bidding on a Vintage ROLAND SH-2 Synthesizer. This is the Aus 240v version.
This is a fantastic little analogue synth with some fat sounding oscillators.

The synth does power on and make sound but there something not quite right with it, I have no technical skills or knowledge when it comes to synths so I can’t give much details on what is wrong. So it is being sold AS IS.

It is in really good condition for it’s age, the keys do have some yellowing but still plays fine.” Link

Roland, SH-2 @ 12 June 2011, “No Comments”

“Overall, the synth is in fantastic condition.

The protective plastic covers are still in place on the metal of the 4 VCO control knobs, I would say that this unit has hardly been used since it was made over 30 years ago.

With the exception of a couple of tiny marks to the front of each end panel where the synth has sat on a keyboard stand at some point, I can’t find a cosmetic fault.

I hope the close up pictures show how bright and clean this looks.

All knobs, buttons and switches are present, original and function correctly.

All keys are clean and aligned and contact correctly.

Functionality:

The unit was tested today and the synth is working as it should be: 100% functional and the tuning is stable.

This is a 110v model so has been used with a step down voltage transformer here in the UK. Transformer is included with the sale.

Also included is the original softcase and manual (Japanese).” Link

“The roland SH-2 is a rare vintage 70′s analog mono-synth. It has incredible sounding oscillators for a very warm sound. The bass response is trully amazing. You can get some very nice bass and lead sounds out of this baby. It has that famous Roland portamento to get those SH-101 type pf sounds if you want just use one osilator. It has 2 oscillators plus a sub oscillator for a huge range of sounds. It can go way beyond a 101 and it sound much warmer to me ( better oscillators more 70′s sounding). The filter is a classic Roland low pass and has that great “Roland” sound. I own two and I will never sell my other one. You can find more on the web. I had it fully diagnosed by a professional tech here in my town and he installed a new power supply, resoldered all the pc board connections, replaced some op amps and fully calibrated the oscillators to Rolands original specs. So it is solid on the inside which is a great thing for a synth of this age. I spent a total of $288 for the tech work. The outside is in great shape other than a few scratches that look like they are kinda of rusty but really not a big deal. I have included pics of the scratches. Overall it looks pretty good on the outside. i would say a 7.5 out of 10 on appearance. So yeah it looks good and sounds amazing.” Link

“First things first: you’ll see from the photos that the bender lever has snapped off. This doesn’t affect its operation one iota. It’s absolutely fine – it’s just missing that annoyingly vulnerable piece of plastic off the top. However, as I am a fan of seeing things restored to their former glory, I’ve just gone and bought a replacement lever which I will include in the package for the winning bidder to fit if required. (It’s a dead simple fit, but as it’s coming from the US I can’t guarantee it will be here before the auction ends – in which case I will, of course, send it on).

Notwithstanding the above, the synth itself is in really good condition. All the pots, switches and caps have been cleaned, tested and are working 100%. All the keys are clean, contact beautifully and are straight. These Roland keyboards are my favourite actions (this synth’s older sister, my absolutely mint SH-1 is not leaving the collection!) and it plays beautifully: smooth, fast and precise. The tuning is unbelievably stable – it drifts less with temperature changes than my Fender Strat!

Basically, have a good look at the close-up photos – I’ve not held back.

Sonically, it’s absolutely as per the video example. All the modules and functions are working beautifully.

It’s in a road case, as shown in the pics, and is complete with a proper, bound copy manual.

It’s the 240volt UK/European version.” Link

“This item is in good, working condition and includes: Roland SH-2 Synthesizer, a printed copy of the manual.

This Roland SH-2 Synthesizer is a rare North American model that supports 110 power; no converter is necessary. The synthesizer is in good working condition. Like a lot of vintage analog gear, it needs to warm up for a couple minutes to produce that classic sound. The knob is broken off the pitch bender wheel and a knob is missing from one of the envelope sliders. Neither of these items effects operation. ” Link

“Roland SH-2 with MIDI modifications.

Works perfectly.

Good condition, a few marks, but nothing offensive.

The SH-2 is a classic compact 2x VCO synth with that awesome ‘Oldschool Roland’ sound. Extremely Chunky & Fat.

The MIDI is done with a Synhouse MidiJack.. Works great.

There is a button installed on the back. Press it to activate the Midi. Press it again for CH2, Hold it down for 1 second, and the SH2 is back to local control.

“I’m offering my Roland SH-2. Great classic synth, deep bass, dual oscillators, nice filter! Everything works and it sounds absolutely great. This one was used and has a dent in the envelope section and the little arm on the mod wheel was lost at some time in the past (very common with these). I think you can buy replacement mod wheels but it works fine as is, just a cosmetic thing. all the CV jacks work fine as well. I was using this as a controller for my modular and it worked great for that. Unlike most of the recent SH-2 auctions, this oen is located in the United States so no headaches with shipping from Japan or using a voltage convertor! This would make a great gift for yourself or the synth nerd in your life. This is a vintage synth so it is sold as-is.” Link
