“This is a Roland SH 101 that is in excellent working condition. I purchased it recently and i wanted to sample some sounds from it and i feel that it needs to go to someone who deserves it more than me, and someone who really wants one of these. I will be completely upfront with all known problems:
ISSUES:
A past owner left the batteries inside and they leaked and caused cosmetic damage on the bottom of the unit. This has not effected performance of the synth.
the “TUNE” knob works, but is not properly seated into the unit housing and is very loose. This feature is never used by me, because the unit has not gone out of tune on me ever. this could be fixed easily i think.
the “SUSTAIN” knob on the envelope moves very easily, i suspect that it may not have contact with the slider rail, because the changes when i make it are so subtle that i cannot really tell. this could be working for all i know!
GOOD NEWS:
This unit’s performance is rock solid, it feels great, sounds very fat, all the other gizmos on it work. this thing can really cut through a mix and add great depth to your bass sounds.” Link

The items are being sold together so that the buyer may take advantage of the Waldorf Pulse Plus’s built in CV to Midi converter which allows you to control the SH-101 (via 2 cv & gate cables).
The SH-101: This vintage synth was previously owned by Detroit techno legend Kenny Larkin & was used in the creation of classics like ‘Pigs in space’. It is in excellent cosmetic condition. Functionally, the only issue is the main output jack is noisy. This is an easy replacement or clean job. However, it also works quite well as it is by simply plugging your output cord into the “phones” output. Otherwise it’s in great condition.
The Waldorf Pulse Plus: This is the famous Waldorf Pulse Plus synth that also happens to have a built in CV to midi converter. The item is in excellent condition cosmetically. The red knob seems to fluctuate up & down by 1 degree at times when left in a certain position. This doesn’t effect the performance however as it is simple enough to set it’s mode to be controlling on of the simpler functions that doesn’t use the full range of motion (such as the Active/Range mode).
Includes power supplies for both instruments (SH-101′s power supply is aftermarket) as well as a set of cables to connect the CV & Gate. SH-101 includes vintage box! ” Link

“One of the best 80s synthesizers ever made in my opinion! Super light, super easy to use and heck battery powered if you want to go portable. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! They really should reissue this thing? Talk about awesome! Really hard to find one these days, let alone in red. Well anyways, as you can see there are a few obvious issues. The main one is that decals are missing! I have no idea why anyone would take the decals off this thing as it’s a very precise synthesizer and its very helpful to have on the info on there. You may be able to get someone to carefully paint it back on. I don’t know, just a thought. It is ink after all but yeah that is one problem. The other issue is the cv/ gates have been upgraded to ¼ inch. That’s bad and good. Bad because it devalues the synth a little..but good beucase its much handier having these ¼ than it is the smaller in/out cables. Sans these issues the Sh-101 works as it should. ” Up for auction is a Roland SH-101. This is definitely a project synth both cosmetically and mechanically. Going by the pictures you can see that the synth was drilled out at some point maybe to accommodate pots or something? I know there are a couple mods for the 101 and I’m assuming these were abandoned. There’s also what looks like a burn mark at bottom left of the pitch bender and two scratches at the logo. All that aside it is in decent shape. The keyboard is level and cosmetically in good shape and all knob + slider caps are intact. Pots themselves also seem to be in good shape, no dragging etc.
On the mechanical side:
The 101 powers on but appears to be stuck in hold. The transpose, load and play light up but it always reverts back to hold? The synth does emit sound but only faintly and could possibly need to be tuned. I was going to pick up a scope at some point to start restoring it but due to my schedule and time involved I’ve abandoned this idea. This could be an easy fix for someone with more time on their hands than myself or a decent parts synth. The items included in this auction are:

I bought this synthesizer new in 1983 to use with Moog Taurus II bass pedals. It was used part time for a few years and has been in the closet most of the last 20 years. It works perfectly. As it was used with the bass pedals, the controls were set and not manipulated during use. Thus, the controls and the keys have hardly been used. I always used a Boss power supply, so no battery corrosion.
For the power supply, you can use a Boss PSA-120 or the Danelectro version which is cheaper and works just fine” Link
“This is a Roland Sh-101 with several modifications that give you some pretty crazy sound mangling abilities. It’s in VERY good shape with only one flaw that I know of; the tune knob on the top left wobbles a little but works and DOES NOT effect the sound. Everything works as it should. Virtually no signs of wear overall. All the fader caps are there. I’ll be waiting a while to see if anyone uses the BUY IT NOW, in the meantime you’re welcome to send REASONABLE offers. If you don’t want someone else to snag it before you do then use the BUY IT NOW. Comes with AC adapter and Mod grip and a strap. Check my feedback, I’m proud of it.

1) Filter input with volume attenuation knob (run your other synths through the classic Roland filter!! the filter overdrives like nobodies business and sounds really really swell)
2) Filter CV input (control the filter with your favorite analog synth or other CV gear!)
3) Filter FM CV input (you won’t find this very often, it’s a second CV input for filter control so you can get your FM on!)
4) PWM source selector (Change what type of PWM you have, basically gives you a very wide range of new tones)
5) LFO rate switch LOW/MED/ULTRA FAST (ultra fast lfo makes some really *&^%ed up sounds!)” Link

This unit is in very good condition for its age, though a previous owner has tried to lever the battery cover off at some stage and marked the plastic (See Photos 4 and 5). I have tested this unit throughly and there are no operational problems. All the keys, knobs, sliders and switches work perfectly with no audible or mechanical defects. Photo 4 shows that there is no battery acid leak in the battery compartment.
The power supply included in auction is a Boss PSC-230E which is not the original but perfectly suited and current model (BETTER than the original)” Link

It is monophonic, meaning that it only plays one note at a time and it is exceedingly delicate and sensitive to the elements. Do not bid on this board as a practice keyboard for your 10 year old just starting out on piano lessons or if you want to rock out Chopin-style flourishes. It’s not that kind of machine. You will struggle to find a unit that is as in good shape as mine is. I acquired it in 2002 and have treated it like a museum piece. I have never gigged with it and it has never really seen the outside of my 4 clean and smoke-free walls. As an added bonus, I have the original plush foam-lined carrying case, the modulation grip with associated hardware to attach it, and the original Roland leather strap (keytar city lol). I even have the original box for the grip and strap but it definitely shows its 28 years of age as it has been partially re-constructed with clear packing tape. The carrying case shows some discoloration and other signs of age as well” Link

“Standard grey sh-101 analogue synthesizer. Condition is average for a synth here in japan, so probably a bit above average for anywhere else. Basic testing of the functions was performed, and it is working OK. Resonance slider is a bit noisy when being moved, but fine when it is stationary. Sequencer timing is a little bit wonky when run off the internal clock, but usually you would run an sh-101 from external click anyway, so that should be ok. There is some minor rust in the battery box.” Link
“This board works except for the low G. The volume pot is not the right one due to an emergency at a gig. It’s touchy. I used it as my backup bass board when my ARP AXXE broke a string. It’s also missing the sequencer rubber membranes also due to emergency cleaning. They still work with a pencil tip. We had added a neck for left hand playing and a guitar strap. I’ll remove the neck for shipping and send it with. Some of the screw plastic supports are cracked and need screws. The battery cover is also missing, but it will hold 6 C-cells. I don’t have the proper tip negative 9 volt adapter but I did use it with a homemade one. It needs some TLC!” Link
