“This example is red. That means it is exceptionally rare. It works perfectly and was recently serviced by a very reputable engineer in the United Kingdom who has done a superb job on this beauty.

All the knobs and pots work well. Cosmetically this example is fair to poor. There is a very bad burn mark shown in one of the photos which has quite severely damaged the plastic front case area where the burn is. Please do be aware that this does not affect the function in any way at all. The function is still perfect. This burn mark was caused by the previous owner. We have looked after this synth exceptionally well. The rest of the bodywork of the synth looks pretty good but I have to call this the wrong side of fair, i.e. towards poor in fairness. Please don’t let this put you off. These are still rare and this is red and looks beautiful still despite the sad burn mark which is of course a disappointment.

This example does come with a power supply. However please note that the power supply is not a Roland original. It is a supply which has been tested to work with this synth and has been used for several months without any problem at all.” Link

“The Roland SH-101 is a timeless analog monosynth that never seems to go out of fashion. And it’s not surprising – it has a killer sound that fits really well with many modern music styles

This synthesizer is in mint condition looks and sounds amazing.
This is the version that comes with the mod grip.” Link

“For auction is a Roland SH-101 synthesiser. It is the grey version, in original box and packaging. In excellent condition with little use, it has spent most of it’s life in storage. Battery compartment is clean with no battery leakage as you can see in the photos, professionally checked and tuned and scaled and 100% working. It is rare to find an SH101 in such good condition with such little use.” Link

“Today I am auctioning off my Roland SH-101 Analog Synth. It’s a legendary piece of kit for sure; sounds great, is fairly portable, very easy to use, and has tons of features. It looks very good, with minimal markings on the unit and works just fine. It was just serviced at Switched On in Austin, TX. It will also include the Boss PSA power supply.” Link

“Here’s a SH-101 that I’ve had for a bit. Decided to sell it, but I wanted to make sure that it was in good shape first… nothing worse then buying a vintage instrument on ebay only to find it’s got problems. So I had Jun Takeshita at Main Drag Music here in Brooklyn give it the once over. He’s amazing, and very well know for his work on keyboards. He gave it the once over, replaced some contacts, tuned it up and now it’s working perfectly and sounding awesome. All keys and controls working perfectly and the tuning is tight. You can see my receipt for this service in the photos.

As for what IS wrong with it… minor cosmetics… missing battery cover, missing slider cap on the VCO mod slider and a little black smudge above the SH (you can see it in the photo). The missing parts can easily be replaced. Also the power supply isn’t original, but it’s worked perfectly for me. The synth works and sounds awesome, but due to the age I’m selling this as is. ” Link

“Here I am selling my Roland SH 101 synthesizer. This is one of my all time favorite synths but I must let it go for financial reasons.
Functionally the synth is perfect besides the VCF BENDER SLIDER which doesnt seem to be effecting the bender. Synth holds tune very well with
no scratchy sliders or pots. Cosmetically it has some minor scuffs and scrapes, is missing the tune knob,
the KYBD slider is slightly bent but doesnt effect the functionality, and the battery compartment is missing one clasp but stays attached just fine.
All the keys work perfectly, no battery acid in the battery compartment, and the cv/gate ins and outs all work (including the click in). ” Link

“This is in EXCELLENT condition! The SH-101 is very cool, especially for techno, drum&bass and ACID! It’s a monophonic bass synthesizer. Its sound lies somewhere between the TB-303 and a Juno bass sound. It has a lot of simple but cool features. You can control the VCF, pitch, LFO or all from the pitch bender. It has a white noise generator, arpeggiator with up, down and up/down patterns and a simple real-time sequencer. The LFO offers random, sine, square or noise waveforms. And normal or auto portamento effects give you that elastic bass sound. There are external clock inputs for the sequencer and arpeggiator, CV/GATE inputs and outputs and a CV hold pedal.

As is.” Link

“Up for sale is my Roland SH-101. I have owned it since around 1999. I am liquidating my studio so my loss is your gain. It works flawless. Everything sliders and all have been tested and work 100%. No scratchy pots or sliders. Cosmatically I would give this a 10 out of 10. The only thing as you can see from one of the pictures is that one of the keys has a slight nick in it. This does not at all effect the performance of the keys. Also included with the SH-101 is the mod grip. This grip is very difficult to find now a days. It has also been tested and works 100%. I also have the original box for the mod grip which I will include. Don’t pass this board up it is truley a great piece of equipment. It was used in a smoke free studio and always sat on my keyboard stand and was very lightly used. I will also include a copy of the manual in PDF format on CD-Rom. I will also be including a power supply for the SH-101 as well. This 101 has the battery cover intact.

Here are my terms: Item is being sold as in 100% working order.” Link

“This particular SH101 is the grey version and is in top condition, especially considering it is now around 25 years old. This is a much-loved instrument and it has gotten through a lot of work over the years and has always produced the goods. It is just so simple and so reliable,
everything works as it should do and there is only very minimal cosmetic damage – notably to a couple very slightly crooked sliders (as shown in Picture no.3), an affliction which is actually extremely common in these machines, especially if they’ve been well-gigged! Actually, you’ll normally find quite a few more bent sliders on an old SH101 than a couple and they’re usually far worse than in this case. In reality you’ll barely notice them here if I’m honest and the sliders all still work perfectly, move smoothly and sound great.

Other than that this instrument is in excellent condition. Both the Arpeggiator and Step Sequencer work precisely as they are supposed to, the keyboard plays perfectly with no sticky or duff notes, the pitch bend and mod stick work exactly as they are supposed to and all the caps on the pots and the sliders are present and correct.” Link

Link

“It’s sadly time to say goodbye to this old friend. One of the best units I have ever seen, this one is an absolute beauty in perfect working order and absolute top condition!

This keyboard is a must for any electronic music producer and an absolute classic! They are now pretty rare and in this condition exremely so. Although still used widely in all modern forms of dance music, they originally appeared on the market in the eighties and were the favoured keyboards of synth-pop, reggae and funk/soul musicians. Light and portable for the stage but an amazing addition to any studio too.” Link

“ROLAND SH-101 VINTAGE ANALOGUE SYNTH

IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS AUCTION THEN YOU NO DOUBT ALREADY NOW HOW GREAT THIS SYNTH IS!

THIS AUCTION IS FOR A GREY ROLAND SH-101 ANALOGUE MONO SYNTH. IT IS IN GREAT CONDITION AND HAS BEEN WELL LOOKED AFTER. THE SOUND AND POWER OF THIS UNIT IS AWESOME AND YOU CAN REALLY HEAR THE BEAUTIFUL WARM ANALOGUE SOUND COME THROUGH WHENEVER IT IS USED IN A TRACK.

THE SYNTH HAS BEEN MODIFIED TO INCLUDE AN AUDIO INPUT WHICH MEANS AN AUDIO SIGNAL CAN BENEFIT FROM THE SIGNAL PATH OF THE SH101. HOWEVER, WITH MY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF THIS MODIFICATION, I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THIS WORKING WHEN I TRIED, HOWEVER, I AM SURE IT WILL MAKE SENSE TO SOMEONE WITH A BIT OF KNOWLEDGE!

“A monophonic synth from the early 80′s. The SH-101 is an all-time classic synth. It’s in excellent condition though some of the sliders may need a clean as they produce a little bit of a fluffy noise when adjusting during play. It is in full working order though no power supply will be included. I’ve got the orginal manual but it’s a bit tatty.” Link

“This is a vintage Roland SH-101 synthesizer. Red color.
This syth is in great shape. I bought it new in the early 80′s. I haven’t played it much and it has been in storage for over 20 years. An electronic musician friend used it for a little while about a year after I bought it.
I had this baby sold about a month ago for big bucks. Just as I was about to ship it off, I tested it one last time and found that three keys weren’t working. I panicked, then opened it up and inspected the keyboard circuit. I cleaned the keyboard contacts, which weren’t very dirty at all. Then I noticed that three of the copper tracers on the circuit board were corroded. One of the tracers wasn’t letting any signal through and was the cause of the three keys to not work. I soldered in a jumper/bridge wire that bypassed the corroded spot. The keys now worked. See the second photo to see the corrosion and the wire bridge.
I then soldered two more jumpers on the other two corroded traces just to be safe or proactive.
This baby is now good to go. This, I have learned, isn’t a rare problem and there are discussions online and even you tube videos dealing with it. That sale fell through but the buyer was real nice and left me great feedback.
Enough of that story.
This synth is clean inside and out. I cleaned all of the keys and contacts and vacuumed it all out.
The pots are clean, smooth and not scratchy.
The only cosmetic problems are two tiny scratches on the case just above the modulator label.(see photo)
The battery compartment is in mint condition because I never put batteries in it. I always used an ac adapter. I am including a good ac adapter that doesn’t have any hum, like some.
This comes with the modulation grip MG-1 and the strap holder that mounts on the other side.
Also comes with the original leather Roland strap.
Also comes with the owner’s manual and a CD with downloaded copy of the manual and the service manual.
Also comes with the original box and packing material. Box is in pretty sad shape and is taped together.
I’ll double box it for shipping.” Link

“Up for sale is an EXTREMELY RARE Roland SH101 in BLUE!!

Complete with the modgrip accessory and original manual.

Yes you could get a grey one for half of the money, but your friends wont envy you half as much if you have this blue mean baby:)

Perfect pounding bass and searing leads.

Works beautifully.

NO scratchy sounding knobs .

The condition has been thoroughly highlighted in the many Hi-res photos above including the battery cover holding pegs tha have snapped off, the cover still closes in fine and stays in place, although I would not recommend any Jimi Hendrix type stage acrobatics!!!

The condition is good in my point of view, the marks are minor for a synth this age, I have done my best to take photos of all of the synths areas so you can check this yourself as your levels of expected condition might differ from mine..

There are screws missing from the bottom but this does not affect the unit structurally.

If you are here, I probably wont need to go on any further as you will know what you are buying and how much of a solid investment this is:)” Link

“Here is a chance to own what can only be described as an absolute classic analogue roland synthesizer!!. This one comes complete with P.S.U ,UK adaptor (not roland). Reprinted manual + nova mod informations manual. Extend the sonic capabilities with a NOVA MOD which allows extended destruction of the analogue waveforms allowing the sh101 to produce sounds that are not normally possible with a standard sh101. Modulate upto six different sources using multiple waveshapes and frequency modulate waveforms to mess things up completely!!. Why do the mod yourself when you can buy an sh101 already modified?. Still the same SH101 sound but you decide how much you want to mess things up!!. Here is the link to give a little more information regarding the modification:-

http://www.circuitbenders.co.uk/Circuitbenders101guide.pdf

Synth is in very good condition for it’s age with a clean underbelly. All knobs and sliders are intact, does have a few minor dings here and there but hardly noticable, not bad for a synth made in the 80′s!. Keyboard has a few scratches and these to are hardly noticable, keyboard Has had a battery cover replacement which comes from technology transplant which is red in colour, (you can spray these to match colour of synth). Clean battery compartment with no signs of battery leakage. If you need any questions answered then contact me and will be pleased to help. More information regarding the synth will obviously be available on the web, just google ‘roland SH01′. ” Link

“For Sale is my Roland SH101 Analogue Synthesiser.

It’s in pretty good condition for it’s age, though there are a couple of sliders that are slightly squint due to general wear and tear. To the best of my knowledge though, this is all in good working order. I had a specialist look over the circuitry and fix a few dodgy connections several years ago but to be honest, I’ve never even used the CV gate so can’t guarantee that it works but will thoroughly test everything I can before shipping.

It doesn’t have a power supply but this is a standard size so no biggie and of course, the manual has long since vanished!

All in all this make a great analogue synth for the collector or producer; I just need the space in my studio!” Link

A very well maintained synth. It has been in storage for over 11 years, just found it in my relatives attic. It was mine back in the 80′s. I never played it much and it shows. This is a true museum piece (Mint cond, Batteries never installed.). It includes the Synth, manual,mod-grip, strap, Power supply, and original boxes for the grip and the synth (Boxes are in ok shape, not the best).I am also including a Roland MMP-2 modeling pre-amp, This unit is analog and contains a stereo eq,a compressor, and a mic modeler ( i paid $500 for the MMP-2). It really tames the sound of th SH, so that it can be used live or recorded easier. The SH is awesome for making Dubstep Basslines(Wall shaking bass)or Drum n Bass, Electro, and old school acid sounds, because it has a wonderful arp and sequencer which really make it a special synth. I hope it goes to good home.I am short on money and dont want to sell this, its my favorite synth I’ve ever owned.” Link

I am selling it at a reduced rate since 1 black key doesn’t work (can be fixed for cheap, but I’ve just played around it!), and a few cosmetic things like: the Tune knob is missing (works fine, just no knob), the VCF KYBD slider is slighlty bent (works fine), and the plastic battery compartment cover is missing one interior clasp (opens and closes fine). A few minimal scratches on the sides and back, everything else about it is in great shape. Easily worth top dollar with a few repairs. Please see pictures! “Near mint condition. Never gigged. Spent early life in a home production studio before the original owner, a friend of mine, had to pack it away due to a lack of space for many years then sold it to me for the same reason. I had the custom-made flight case made for it a year ago in matching lightweight blue material. It’s an upside-down case so the synth can be played while in it so it is perfect for gigging and keeping it safe while not using it at home.

The SH-101 also comes with the MGS-1 grip and leather strap that has been used maybe twice in all its years and is immaculate. These fetch up to £90 on their own now. The original lead even works perfectly too. This is a breathtakingly good specimen of a classic synthesiser. Not often will you get a 20 year old synth in such good condition and that has only had two owners.

It is in 100% working condition. All keys work perfectly, there are no crackles, the tuning is perfect as are all the sliders, the sequencer, portamento and arpeggiator. There is only one mark on the entire synth that is visible on the tuning knob, which given the synth’s age, is miraculous.” Link

“For sale is a Roland SH-101 analogue synthesiser for spares or repair. Also included is the power adaptor. Cosmetically, the synth is in good condition with no missing knobs or sliders and fully functioning keys and pitch bender.

Now on to the current state of this one. The unit powers up fine with the power adaptor and a quick test shows that all of the keys are working and that the unit produces sounds from both the output and headphone jacks. Trying a few of the settings from the Roland user manual I found online seems to produce the sort of sounds I’d expect as well.

Now for the bad bits and the reason I am selling this as spares or repair. There is currently a lot of noise generated when the unit is working. I’m pretty sure this is due to a faulty volume pot as it is making a lot of noise when turned. To get the synthesiser back into fully working condition, this would certainly need replacing.” Link

“This auction is for a red SH-101 with mod grip. The synth is in absolutely superb condition for it’s age, and there is certainly no rusting in the battery compartment or anything like that. I have barely used it, but it has been fully tested and all keys, sliders, knobs etc are working fine. I have uploaded a large number of pictures to fully demonstrate the condition of the unit.

Also included is an original Roland booklet in Japanese as well as a Roland-branded soft case. The soft case, which I purchased seperately from the synth itself, has some water marks on it. Please note that a mains power supply is not included, but a replacement power supply can easily be found on eBay and other online retailers.” Link

Sadly it’s not working! I don’t have the power supply so tried putting batteries in to see if it’d fire up – but nothing happens and there’s no sound. So sold for spares, or better still, repair.

Cosmetically, it’s missing the volume knob, pitch knob and the battery cover’s missing, otherwise it looks in fairly reasonable condition. (See picture of actual item)” Link

” This is a Roland SH-101 Monophonic Synthesizer. It is used but in very good condition and works perfectly.
Does not have a power supply.” Link

“This listing is for a Roland SH101 vintage analogue monophonic synthesiser.

This particular synth received a professional service in March of this year, and is in absolutely perfect condition.
All functions work perfectly, no crackle from any of the potentiometers or faders. All keys work, and it sounds absolutely fantastic.

Cosmetically, again the synth is in remarkably good condition. There are a couple minute scratches along the bottom edge of the case (see pictures below), but aside from that it is cosmetically perfect.

The battery cavity and contacts are clean and show no signs of corrosion. The only slight damage is to the battery cover. One of the 2 clips which hold the cover in place has gone missing. However the cover does not come loose as a result of this.” Link
