“Letting go of this Roland SH 7 analog Synthesizer, rare beast in perfect working order, recently calibrated. There are some blemishes, a scratch on the face near the VCA slider, the pitch bend wheel has been repaired, there is a modification visible in the photos for direct output for some of the waveforms in case you have extra channels not being used you can EQ different waveforms separately.

The synth is in outstanding physical and 100% functional condition. As fine an SH7 as I have seen.

Prior to sale, the synth was professionally serviced. This included adjustments to the noise source and the filter plus a replacement switch on the rear panel. The synth is presented in excellent functional condition.

The front panel and mod panel are in near mint condition. The black paintwork is dark and solid and the coloured silkscreening bright and sharp. There are a couple of small marks only.

The side panels are both mark free with the exception of a tiny mark to the right hand laquered wooden panel, with the metal rails in top condition and the tolex material unmarked.

The rear panel is in excellent condition, with only a couple of minor blemishes to the paintwork.

The base of the synth is also in outstanding condition. No scratches or tears to the tolex material.

All knobs, sliders and switches are present, original and function smoothly and correctly.

All keys are clean and aligned and contact correctly.

This is a 100v model so a small wall plug style step down transformer is included as part of the sale.” Link

The Roland SH-7 is a Duophonic Analog Synthesizer. The Sh-7 was first released in 1978 – 1981

A very flexible oldie from Roland. Standard SH sound with lots more creative control and tweak-ability! The VCO’s are a little different than traditional SH synths, they are syncable! There’s also a mixer for all the audio signals which can be distorted for brash techno sounds. It’s fun and easy to use but very powerful and perfect for screamin’ techno sounds and effects! It features many new functions like an external audio input, a ring modulator, syncable VCO’s, more waveform shapes, white/pink noise generators and sample+hold. It has been used byINXS.

This Sh-7 has been inspected by ( The Musicians service Center San Jose Ca, USA ) a Certified Roland Service Center.

Great condition: ROLAND SH-7 Tolex is very clean, no scruffs on Tolex, even clean on bottom.

SH-7 has just had a service and tune at cost of ($230) from NZ best tech Kiwitechnics http://www.kiwitechnics.com/ (two rotary switches also were replaced (a weak point of all SH-7s) and I will include two spare NOS Grayson Military spec rotary switches that fit SH7 pefectly)

“Roland SH-7. This is a used vintage analog synthesizer. It works! is in very good condition and comes with a brand new case which cost $120.00.

However as with almost all synth of this era it needs a service every 12-18 months. The last one I did about 18 months or so ago at DBM Pro Audio in NYC cost around $450. The second oscillator is low on volume this is why I am recommending a service.

A couple of the faders have been replaced by previous owner with similar but not exact replacements. But you do not notice unless you put your eye to them.

“In fair to good cosmetic condition but very clean and tidy. Electronically it is in very good condition. This Roland synth has been recently been overhauled extensively by Oakley Sound Systems. All pots have been regreased. All slide switches have been thoroughly cleaned. All rotary switches have been replaced with very high quality types. Some audio pathway components have been upgraded as well as a few small changes to improve the unit’s overdrive characteristics.

The keyboard contacts and buss bars have been cleaned thoroughly. The keyboard has been cleaned and re-lubricated. A new mains cable has been fitted with inline IEC mains inlet socket.

“You are bidding on analog vintage synth from 70′ Roland SH-7. Item came from wife of PRO musician, who I knew for years…. Unit has been sitting for nothing for last 5-6 years and she decided to let it go. I play piano, but I am not analog guy, meanwhile I did my best to test the synth. keyboard had tons of knobs and sliders, NOTHING MISSING, all there, looks very nice for 40 year synth, couple small marks here and there, 8th black key from a right has little chip on side, but overall looks very nice-see pictures. I turned th synth on and I twisted every single knob and slider, they all response and change sound. Spending about 15 mins I realize how to do some sound, tuned 3rd voice to 2 others and sound became so fat, agressive and bright. BUT: slider 32′ on 1st VCO doens’t work, I moved it back and forward and caught sound couple times, so now I know it’s just a bad slider, after all I opened the synth-very clean inside- and found little note-sticker to circuit board: VCO1, 32′ bad, 100K, replace. I guess it’s never been replaced. We wanted to fix that issue, coz slider cost only $1.49 in Radio Shack, but repair shop charges $100 per hour with minimum 2 hours and You have to wait whole month!!! So I think whoever will buy it’s gonna be his little project, also I think little turning after shipping probably will be good as well. Anyway, all the rest works, all lights work, all keys work, all switches work. Sounds very very fat. as far as I see it’s pretty rare vintage synth. Due a vintage nature and age the synth goes as IS, but as I said everything is alive on this machine except slider 32′ on 1st VCO. see pictures, Only serious bidder, pick up is welcome. ATTENTION: it was a question abot modulation wheel-The ANSWER: :Modulation wheel is not broken, it does work absolutely fine. I didn’t pay attention how it looked,coz it looks the same like on my Yamaha keyboard, after your email I went to vintagesynth.com and I see modulation wheel on SH-7 has little stick on a top of wheel. I don’t know history of synth, may be owner did it coz it’s more convenient just to put the finger and operate the wheel or little stick on a top was damaged, but modulation wheel work fine. I don’t see any broken parts, knobs on keyboard, they look fine to me, anyway, check all pictures very carefully, if you notice little difference in modulation You will notice other thing, but I don’t see anything broken and very sure about it. Electronically everything alive except 32′ slider, if synth needs some turning, adjustment-may be, I don’t know, but i’m sure it’s better for 40 y.o. synth. I checked ebay, last SH-7 was sold for $2100, othet I saw for $2500. WE put $1850, in a case if you will need spend a little bit money for tuning or something, but I did played on this synth and sound very nice, very vintage.” Auction ended. “1970′s Roland SH7 Synthesizer This unit was rescued from the metal crushers here in Chicago. When I got it the cord was cut so I assumed the unit was toast. I hooked up a cord and ITS ALIVE!! Its dusty and funky but I was able to make some really kool and crazy sound with this unit as it is. These things must be built like tanks!! Looks like most of the functions are working but I am not a synth expert . Super fun to play with. So heres the deal this unit is being sold as working but needing restoring to be 100%. “Up for sale is an incredible Roland Sh-7 vintage analog synth. These almost never show up for sale, the rarest but also most powerful of the Roland Sh series. The sound is incredible, as versatile as a moog minimoog, with features of an arp 2600, the Sh-7 has it’s own unique character and sound you won’t find on other synths. This one might be the best condition you’ll ever see, it’s nearly mint, with only a couple of the small paint flakes falling off on the back corner from age and a tiny scratch on the front, they’re barely visible and could easily be touched up with paint if desired to restore it to like new condition. Tolex is very clean, only the bottom has a few scruffs. Everything works perfectly, though occasionally key contacts need to be cleaned from dust.
The sounds on this are truly incredible, you can get duophonic (play two keys at once), or beefy monophonic, it’s great for acid, but it also excels with bell like tones, wind sounds, smooth and soft organ like tones. Grab this one while you can, these don’t show up too often and this is your chance to own a beautiful piece that no one else will have!
