” Nice SH-3 up for sale. This is Roland’s first non-preset synthesizer circa 1973. Shares many similarities with it’s bigger (and much more expensive) brother the SH-5 and SH-7. This early SH-3 has the Moog patented ladder filter as opposed to the subsequent model SH-3A. Rumors are only 300-500 units were manufactured because of the patent infringement. The unique feature of the SH-3 is the ability to hear several foot range (32′ to 2′) at the same time with different waveforms (square, pulse or saw like). The SH-7 has this same unique feature as well except waveforms are set to the square wave only. Includes original service manual. This unit is fully functional – guaranteed. Comes with integrated flight case. 120 Volt model, no power converter required. ”

sh3“Cosmetically the unit is good. The case shows wear, but is sturdy and intact. There is some tape residue that you can see from my pics, just above the keyboard. I haven’t tried to remove it, because I’m afraid I might damage the paint. Perhaps GooGone or a similar product would work. Otherwise no scratches or anything broken.
This is a very heavy (38 lbs) and fragile machine, with many parts-39 different values of resistor, and 29 different types of capacitor for example. Because of this, I want to take this to my local UPS pack and send shop (instead of the Post Office), and have them double box it and whatever else they can do to pack it solid and really make it safe.” Link

rolandsh3“up for sale is my roland sh3 (that’s right, no a) synthesizer from 1974! This synthesizer was discontinued after
a lawsuit with moog about roland stealing the ladder filter from the minimoog, and that’s where the sh3a’s come from.
its this synth, with a different filter! This item is in very good condition, a few scratchy sliders, but nothing major.
The plugin is missing it’s ground prong though it doesn’t make a difference in performance. This is truly a rare synthesizer
and i just don’t have enough space for it. I want to see this synth go to a good home.” Link

“Amazing sounding and very rare vintage Roland SH-3 analog synth in great shape. According to legend Roland was sued by Moog over the SH3 ladder filter design and the SH3a followed soon after. ” Link

“This synthesizer is in good working condition and sounds absolutely wonderful. Cosmetically it is in fair condition, and more of a players synth than a collectible piece. Sold as-is condition. The lid is missing, there are many scratches/dents, paint wear, missing screws, replaced knobs, etc. (see pics). All switches, leds, sliders, momentary buttons, potentiometers, ins/outs, and all key contacts are all working just as they should. If you are after a very underrated/versatile mono synth, with a unique Roland filter design (moog transistor ladder design), don’t pass this one up!! ” Link

” This is a great WORKING Roland SH-3 (not 3A) vintage analouge synth, but is in need of a great deal of loving cleanup and a pot cleaning to truly shine. This synth made its way from Minnesota (see picture five) to San Francisco where it was used by the bands Filboid Studge, fognozzle, The Sleeze Band, and Hot Knife (at which time it acquired its charming coating of stickers). Give this the TLC it needs and you will have a great machine – and you could probably flip it for more money.” Link

With case top, no metal sheet music holder.
Everything working fine.
Volume slider is a bit scratchy.” Link

Roland, SH-3 @ 03 June 2012, Comments Off on Roland SH-3a

“This a Roland sh 3 analog synthesizer. This is just the 3 not 3a which means it has the original moog filters Roland was sued over. The original lawsuit models are very rare and highly sought after. This synth is in excellent physical condition, and sounds amazing! Rich and full, and stays in tune very well for an older analog synthesizer. It comes in its own hard case which is most likely why the condition is so good.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“Roland SH-3 Synthasizer

This is the SH-3, not SH-3a.

Overall it’s if fair shape.

The problems are as follows

It’s missing 4 keys (the tops only)

It’s missing a few knobs, sliders, and screws.

It does work though. I hooked it up through a guitar amp and all the keys make sound. I have no idea how to use one of these things but from just tinkering with the knobs, most everything seems functional.

It could probably be easily restored by someone who knows about these things.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“Up for auction is a used Roland SH-3 synthesizer. This is the rare SH-3 and not the more common SH-3a. It is in good conditon and is missing the bottom ac cable cover. The cover locks close but, don’t seem the tightest. It works fine and sounds great. ” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

Roland, SH-3 @ 19 September 2010, Comments Off on Roland SH-3

” Vintage Roland SH-3 synthesizer. Original limited run before they were forced to change out the filters due to moog design infringement. The model then became the SH-3a. This synthesizer is in excellent condition. It comes in it’s own case, and everything functions and sounds great. Even the tuning and tracking are excellent especially for a synth from this era. From the looks of it this synth has seen very little use over the years. Great item for a collector or musician.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.
