“I used to use it to control my Moog modular 55 console (a la Keith Emerson, Wendy Carlos and Tomita). It worked great in the recording studio, where I synced up numerous parallel tracks on multi-track tape recorders.

NOW, this particular unit has begun to mal-function and needs repair! I don’t know exactly how serious a problem it has. Symptoms: When powered on, it emits a shrill, high-pitched tone which does not stop. The display panel flashes momentarily, then goes blank. The three indicator lights: CMT, EDIT and PLAY all are lit up. When I push several of the buttons, a faint sound is added that is akin to the sound an old phone modem makes. That’s about all I can tell you. Prior to this, the unit worked fine. It still has something going on under the hood, I’m just not sure what.

My suggestion is this: either buy it for a discounted price and have it fixed, OR use the unit for spare parts to be put into other ailing MicroComposers out there that are still being used. If you buy it and repair it, you may have gotten yourself a fantastic unit at a great price. I have noted that working Micro-Composers sell for as much as $750.00 on eBay.” Link

“My Jupiter 8 is serial #433308 late model. No dents, No digs, No noticeable Scratches on the body, Near Perfect Condition for a keyboard this old. With 14-bit, better tuning, bigger LCD, and DCB port makes this a must have Jupiter 8. The history of the Jupiter 8 in regarding the different versions is. Starting at serial #171700 the D/A converter on the Interface board was changed from 12-bit to 14-bit. This change was made mainly to improve tuning stability. The problem with the 12-bit digital-to-analog converter on the original JP-8 is that it could cause the autotune to be inaccurate in some instances. Starting at serial #242750 the LEDs of the display were changed to brighter ones. Starting at serial #282880 the JP-8 came standard with a DCB port. These newer JP-8′s may be referred to as JP-8A’s. DCB, or Digital Control Bus, was Roland’s pre-MIDI interface that allowed the JP-8 to talk to other DCB enabled hardware, such as the Roland MC4 and MC8 microcomposers. I purchased my Jupiter 8 new and I am the original owner. Almost all of its life has been in storage as I have not had the time to play this truly beautiful king of All Analog Synths. I am hoping that someone will maximum the potential of this Magical Instrument and create a hit song, or track. I just hope if I ever decide to purchase another one in the future that it will be in this conditioned which is babied all of its life. I would say that this Jupiter 8 has been played only 2% out of 100% of time since I purchased it NEW. With the late model and low operation, exceptional cosmetic condition you cannot go wrong on this baby. This keyboard comes with a Grove Pak gig bag.” Link

Link

It lives in a Roland Hard case.

it has some scratches from where the plug has come into contact with the rear face when studio hands have packed it up after use over the years & the odd one on the side panels as I’ve captured in the photo but it in no way detracts from the play of the synth what so ever.

Everything works as it should.
No missing or broken switches or buttons.

This is a great synth in good condition.” Link

It includes the original box, manual, power supply, quick start insert, and of course the drum machine itself. It works great, is tons of fun and sounds superb. One issue is the bottom left corner of the LCD is very dim to the point of being unreadable at times. PLEASE NOTE THIS WHILE BIDDING. Once you get to know this machine it doesn’t become much of an issue but still, I must state this. This unit will sync to midi (so you can sync with your DAW) and din-sync (Roland’s old sync technology used on stuff like the 808 and 303), so it’s a very useful bit of kit. ” Link

Battery compartment is loose, but takes batteries and powers up fine. Case is in good condition and I think that the unit is in a lot better condition that what’s floating around on the internet these days. I had some problems with it so I bought EVERY REPLACEMENT PART IN EXISTENCE to build a like new 606.When I turned it on, I noticed that it changes tempo and patterns and tempo on it’s own (everything I have read says this is the PRAM) …sometimes it works like a charm. Some of the LEDs are “sticky” as well. The adapter I got from technology transplant doesn’t quite fit, a boss PSA works just fine, but one of the parts I got is the replacement internal adapter in case you want to switch that. It has really only lived at my house for 60 days or less.

“I’ve had this for six months and have had a blast with it. But I still find myself using my juno 6 more and I’d like to send this to someone who will give it love it every day of the year.

The synth is in perfect working order and great cosmetic shape with no scratches or nicks. it comes with the original case

I’ve had it tuned up at Main Drag where they fixed a faulty broken tuning pot and did general cleaning.

The SH2 is a 2 oscillator monosynth from the early eighties. It also has a noise filter too for creating swaths of ambient awesomeness. I have used the noise filter to make some really cool cymbal type sounds for drum programming.

It has the heaviest square/triangle bass Ive heard. Much faster attack than, for example, the minimoog.

each Oscillator has four octaves and functions independant of the other. you can tune and detune them to your hearts content.

What Ive used this for most of all has been feeding drum programming , mostly kick drums, through its external input and filtering the signal to create subs which you can then tune to the track. It’s amazing what this does for tracks. ” Link

The MKS 80 was part of my home studio set up for many years but one day it did not power up. The MPG 80 is still in excellent condition with all of the knobs intact. Not really sure what is wrong with the MKS 80 but figure it might need one of the caps replaced but your guess is as good as mine. The serial number on the MKS 80 is 522122 making it a Rev 5 I believe. The serial number on the MPG 80 is 542134. These units were awsome sounding and are a really synth hounds dream. The pictures on the auction are of the actual units. I know that the MPG 80 is really quite rare and has sold on e-bay from $800 to $1000 alone. Here is a chance for you to own both of the units for a fraction of the cost. They need a good home so bid accordingly! They are both in very good to excellent shape physically and would be quite a plus for any synth player. All Of the cords are included. ” Link

That means it is exceptionally rare. It works perfectly and was recently serviced by a very reputable engineer in the United Kingdom who has done a superb job on this beauty.

All the knobs and pots work well. Cosmetically this example is fair to poor. There is a very bad burn mark shown in one of the photos which has quite severely damaged the plastic front case area where the burn is. Please do be aware that this does not affect the function in any way at all. The function is still perfect. This burn mark was caused by the previous owner. We have looked after this synth exceptionally well. The rest of the bodywork of the synth looks pretty good but I have to call this the wrong side of fair, i.e. towards poor in fairness. Please don’t let this put you off. These are still rare and this is red and looks beautiful still despite the sad burn mark which is of course a disappointment.

This example does come with a power supply. However please note that the power supply is not a Roland original. It is a supply which has been tested to work with this synth and has been used for several months without any problem at all.” Link

If you are looking at this then you should know what it is and what it’s capable of ,as well as being a classic piece of musical history,

if you need info then type in Roland uk, then type in jupiter 8 there is loads of information on the web.

I aquired this jupiter 8 from Pinewood studios in 2009 (yes where they make the james bond films) I could not believe the condition when I saw it,

Some scratches on the back over the roland name, and a small scratch on the right hand end plate.

But this did not put me off as all the sliders, nobs, etc, are solid and graphics like new.

I believe it has been used on various film & tv projects, (obviously) so yes it has a very interesting history behind it.

The original manual is still with it which is very rare, and also the manual for the midi set up.

The original dust cover is still with it but is torn at one end, I still use it, just put a bit of gaffer tape on it.

I love the jupiter, now I have used it on my own projects and they are completed, it’s time to find it another good home.

I can show the buyer proof it came from pinewood when they collect.” Link

May I start by apologising for the photographs They really dont do it justice i will take some better ones in the daylight tomorrow

these are versatile little machines they have got two useful trigger outs it can slave or master sync24 , they are great for modding , the mods are really easy and really enhance the machine , if you do mod it don’t bother with the bass drum mod it’s difficult and it sounds really hollow not like an 808 at all and it’s difficult to reverse ,I speak from experience as I have another fully modded 606 otherwise the is no way I’d sell this it’s great !!!!

It works flawlessly , the front panel is in near perfect condition probably the best ive seen , really really nice , perfect ledgending and no paint wear round the knobs there are 2 small plastic chips at two side corners this is very common on tb303 and tr606

The rear panel has some paint wear around the battery door which i thought might be caused by a battery leak

I opened the unit when I got it and confirmed that there is no corrosion or crystals inside the machine the paper insert is in good condition and if there had have been battery leak it would have dissolved See photos nice and clean inside

There are two potentiometer caps missing unfortunately , these come up on eBay occasionally and I have heard that a Japanese company have reproduced them , of course you can just use any knob that fits a standard shaft I have supplied two knobs , they look ok I’d say if you sprayed them silver they blend in better they do the job anyway ” Link
