This great warm sounding synth has hardly been used since I bought it and is only being sold as I now work with an all software set up. This is the j-wire version (check out pictures),so buyers will not have to worry about a faulty membrane keyboard often experienced with the 8000+ serial number. All knobs, switches and wheels work excellently. As you can see from the pictures above it has the wooden side panels and all the manufacturers name plates and serial number tag.” Link

Excellent condition. Full working order and serviced. With user Manual and box

This is a rare opportunity to own a superb example of a classic vintage synth. I purchased this new from Rod Argents Keyboards in 1981/82 having seen it used by Vince Clarke in Yazoo. It only saw bedroom use for about 18 months before I gave up all hope of being a new romantic pop star and it has been in storage in the loft virtually since then. As a result it is completely original and in excellent condition. I had it fully serviced last month by Ben Rossborough from Cyberwave EMS (vintagesynths.co.uk). It is in perfect working order (all knobs, switches, and wheels) The keyboard is perfectly alligned and you can see from the photos that it is the sought after J-Wire version (serial number 8000+ have a notoriously faulty membrane keyboard)
It comes with the instruction manual and in the original box. It has a beautiful rich analogue sound (even when i play it) which cannot be matched digitally.” Link

THIS PRO ONE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED AND CLEANED THROUGHOUT.

EVERY ASPECT OF THE SYNTH HAS BEEN FIXED OR REPLACED WITH NEW PARTS.

MISSING SCREWS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, THE KEY BOOTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED THE SPRINGS AND J WIRES HAVE BEEN RE-ALLIGNED, THE POWER CABLE HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A 12 AWG ONE, MOST IMPORTANTLY THE POWER SUPPLY HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REBUILT.

THE PRO ONE’S ARE KNOWN FOR THE STICKY KEYS AND POWER ISSUES.

THIS ONE IS UNIQUE AND HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REDONE, IT WORKS PERFECTLY IN EVERY WAY, AND IT IS BUILT TO LAST.

NOW, I WILL EXPLAIN INTO DETAIL ON HOW THE RESTORATION PROCESS WENT

-FIRST THE ENTIRE SYNTH WAS DISMANTLED, THE MAIN PCB WAS TAKEN OFF AND DISCONNECTED, THE KEY BOARD WAS TAKEN OFF, ALONG WITH THE WOOD SIDES, POWER TRANSFORMER AND ANY JACKS, AND SWITCHES.

-ONCE EVERYTHING WAS TAKEN APART THE ENTIRE CHASSIS WAS CLEANED AND POLISHED USING ADHESIVE CLEANER AND ALCOHOL, THE GROUND FOR THE TRANSFORMER WAS SHAVED DOWN MORE TO GUARANTEE A MORE SECURE CONNECTION.

-THE CIRCUIT BOARD WAS THEN CLEANED INSIDE AND OUT USING A SAFE PROPRIETARY CLEANING AGENT, EACH AND EVERY POT, SWITCH AND SLIDER WAS LUBRICATED AND CLEANED

-NEXT, THE ORIGINAL POWER CORD WAS COMPLETELY TRASHED, SO IT WAS TAKEN OUT AND REPLACED WITH A HEAVY DUTY 3 PRONG CONNECTOR AND 12 GAUGE WATER PROOF POWER WIRE, THE STRAIN RELEIF WAS CUSTOM FIT WITH BIGGER HOLE BEING DRILLED INTO THE CHASSIS

-THE POWER SUPPLY WAS COMPLETELY REBUILT, BY CHANGING OUT THE VOLTAGE REGULATORS WITH NOS ONES AND SWITCHING OUT THE CAPACITORS WITH NOS NICHICON’S, THESE TWO MODIFICATIONS REALLY BRING OUT THE CLARITY AND VOLUME OF THE SYNTHESIZER

-LASTLY THE ENTIRE KEYBOARD WAS DISMANTELED, CLEANED, POLISHED, LUBRICATED, ADJUSTED AND FIXED. EVERY KEY ORIGINALLY STUCK AND THIS WAS DUE TO THE OLD BOOTS BEING COMPLETELY DISINEGRATED. EVERY CRUSTY BOOT WAS TAKEN OFF AND REPLACED WITH A PROPRIETARY FIT FOAM AND RUBBER ENCAPSULATING BOOT. EVERY KEY WAS REMOVED, CLEANED AND POLISHED INDIVIDUALLY, GETTING OFF THE DIRT, RUST AND LEFT OVER REMAINED OF THE ORIGINAL BOOTS. EACH SPRING WAS TAKEN OFF AND RE-ALIGNED. EACH JWIRE WAS THEN RE STRAIGHTENED AND TESTED FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE. EVERY KEY NOW PLAYS LIKE THEY DID WHEN THIS SYNTH WAS FIRST PURCHASED.

- THE WOOD PANELS WERE CLEANED, BUT WERE NOT RE LAQUERED BECAUSE THEY ARE IN GREAT CONDITION.

THIS SEQUENTIAL CIRCUITS PRO ONE SYNTHESIZER IS GUARANTEED TO WORK GREAT AND SOUND SPECTACUALAR. OVER 14 HOURS OF TIME WAS PUT INTO THE RESTORATION PROCESS OF THIS SYNTHESIZER AND EVERY LITTLE DETAIL REALLY HELPED MAKE THIS SYNTH FEEL AND PLAY GREAT. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS SYNTHESIZER. ” Link

THIS ANALOG UNIT IS USED BUT IN GOOD CONDITION. IT WAS USED BY A PROF. MUSCIAN BUT HAS BEEN IN STORAGE FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS OR SO. JUST PLUGGED IT IN YESTERDAY AND ALL OF THE KEYS WORKED FINE BUT THERE WAS A LITTLE NOISE FROM THE AUDIO OUT JACK. THIS UNIT WILL NEED PROFESSIONAL CLEANING AS IT HAS BEEN STORED. I DID NOT CHANGE ANY OF THE SETTINGS OR PLAY WITH IT MUCH, SO IT IS BEING SOLD “AS IS”. THE EXTERIOR OF THE UNIT IS IN FAIR TO GOOD CONDITION. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTO ALL OF THE LABELS AND PANEL KNOB INFORMATION IS STILL INTACT AND THE KEYS ARE STILL SHINY. THE WOOD GRAIN SIDE PANELS HAVE A FEW MINOR DINGS, AND THERE IS SOME SCRATCHES IN THE UNDERSIDE PAINT AND I BELIEVE ( NOT SURE) THAT A FEW OF THE POWER LIGHTS ARE MISSING AND THE WHEEL SCREWS ARE LOOKING RUSTY.” Link

This vintage instrument is in fully working condition, calibrated and tuned, ready to play.

The unit looks very good for its age. The wooden side panels are in great nick. The synth is very clean with all the original knobs and switches in place. All knobs and switches work smoothly and quietly and the keyboard (J-Wire type – the one to get) triggers flawlessly.

There are some tiny scratches on the chassis below the pitch bend wheel, the mod wheel has some internal cracks visible when moved up but it’s smooth and solid on the surface. There is a barely noticeable scratch on one of the white keys.

The sound of this machine is gorgeous and powerful. Fantastic thick bass, lovely PWM and sync sounds and amazing gliding leads are its forte. Pro~One is thought to be a single voice Prophet 5 but due to its monophonic nature the synth has much more attitude. ” Link

“I’m looking to sell my Sequential Circuits Pro-One synthesizer, SN # 9129, which in its current state is semi-playable. To my knowledge, it is mostly functional except for the following issues:

- The main problem with this synth is the keyboard, which is hit-or-miss as far as responsiveness. Some keys (particularly on the lower end of the keyboard) sound pretty reliably while others need a good whack to get them to go off. There are no completely dead keys. I believe this particular synth has membrane-type key contacts, which I’ve read are notorious for being finicky.

- The Audio Out is crackly and the sound sputters from time to time.

- The square waveform on Oscillator A is faint, except for when the Oscillator Sync in turned on, at which point it sounds louder. It also is not affected by the Pulse Width knob, but it can be tuned and the octave can be changed.

- The noise generator makes sound, but it too is somewhat faint. I always just turned down the oscillators and it sounded fine.

- I never understood how the Record/Play switch was supposed to work, but I never noticed it did anything when I switched it. Perhaps I’m missing something, or perhaps it doesn’t work. The same goes for the CV In and other jacks on the back: I’ve never used anything but the Audio Out so I don’t know if the other ones work or not.

- This synth temporarily makes a loud squealing noise when shut off. This doesn’t affect function, but I thought I’d mention it.

Otherwise, I believe everything else works. As of now, I could turn it on and play melodies on it and vary the sound with the controls, it’s mainly that some notes sputter or don’t come on right away.

Cosmetically, it is in fairly good condition, as can be seen in the pictures, however, the wooden side panels are not original. When I bought it, it didn’t have side panels so I made my own. Whoever owned it before me also had stuck labels on the top part of the control panel and their outlines are still visible. There are also a few scratches on the bottom and back side of the unit. One of the screws supporting the Pitch and Mod Wheel assembly is not original and loose.

Needless to say, THIS SYNTH COULD USE SOME REFURBISHING. This being the case, it is being sold AS IS.” Link

I honestly can’t find a flaw on it. Sort of ridiculous since it was made in 1981. Very low serial number 0671! I can not 100% guarantee that there isn’t something somewhere, but I have never written that an old piece of equipment I have sold was in this condition. Look at my feedback and bid with confidence. Oh and it sounds amazing, doesn’t have noise issues associated with old keyboards. 100% functional, J Wire version. I guarantee another one like this won’t come around anytime soon. This is an actual picture of the Pro One I am selling though I had to take it with someones cameraphone, as, I have no digital cam right now. Pic does not do it justice. ” Link

Packed with features and modulation options not found on many other mono synths

Earth shattering bass and screaming leads as well as some of the best sound effects and drones possible

Dual osc mono synth using the classic CEM synth chips as found in the best analogue synths such as the Prophet 5, Oberheim OBXa, Moogs and most other top end systems

The pro one is basicly the same synth as a Prophet 5 but has 1 voice. If you layer the sounds when recording it can sound just about the same. Actualy the Pro One is my a long way phatter than the Prophet 5 for bass

Just been fully sericed and tested to make sure everything is in top notch order… all switches and pots were cleaned with Deoxit cleaners and lube.. synth re-tuned, keyboard serviced having all the J-wires and bars cleaned and also a full new set of rubber bushings fitted which have been lubricated with the correct original grease compound” Link

“You are viewing a Sequential Circuits Pro One Vintage Analog Synthesizer that I have for sale. Its serial number is 2798. I have had this synthesizer gone over by a synth technician to ensure that it works terrifically. The J-Wire keyboard was gone over to improve its function and ensure that it works for years to come; all pots were removed and cleaned. The octave toggle knob on the second oscillator was missing, and was replaced with a knob that is not original to the Pro One, as you can see in the picture. Aside from this, everything on here is what you would find on one of these the day it came out.

This is one of the all-time great synthesizers; it features arpeggio and sequencer features, which are very rarely found on monophonic synthesizers from this era. And its oscillators sound like a dream; the triangle waveform is in my opinion the best I’ve ever heard.

I will ship this for free if you live in the United States. One note, however: this is an old synthesizer, and I am not responsible for keyboard tracking falling off a bit during shipment. This is readily fixable, however, and directions for doing so can be found on the internet. As of now, keyboard tracking is perfect.” Link

It has been recently brought back from the dead and is ready to go 100%. The first thing it got was a good dose of fader lube, so all pots and switches glide and do not scratch, pop, miss, or stick. Next it got new key bushings, so the new soft rubber has turned a bunch of clacking into a bouncy, pleasant bump… the quality of this feel was confirmed on its last stop to… Wine Country just gave it the once over including replacing a faulty 3310 in the amp section. Notes rang forever, but now everything has been given the expert’s review and this keyboard is 100% functional.” Link

It has the more reliable J-Wire keyboard. I imagine any one interested in such a classic synth may know a thing or two about it already, so I won’t go into detail, otherwise there are many resources online.

It was serviced last year and inspected and tuned this month, by much respected synth service specialist Kent Spong.
It’s always been kept covered and protected when not used.” Link

”

This is a very nice Sequential Circuits Pro One for sale. It has a low serial number (#2269) and is one of the coveted J-wire models. It was purchased from Pied Piper Music in 1981 and I am the original owner. I used it a great deal in the early 80′s but as programmable synths became more reasonable the Pro One got used less and less. It has been in storage since the late 80s and I am offering it for sale so that someone else can enjoy the power and flexibility of this synth. It really is amazing and was groundbreaking in its time. Visit http://www.vintagesynth.com/sci/seqpro1.php for more specific information.

The unit is mostly original with a couple of exceptions: All of the key bushings were replaced last year so the keyboard is tight and functional. The J-wires were cleaned at the same time so they are due to be cleaned again. The original red fuse holder was defective so it was replaced with an orange holder obtained from Wine Country http://www.winecountrysequential.com/ . These are the people you want to contact if you need Sequential Circuits parts or service. One of the pitch or mod wheels broke shortly after I got the Pro One and was replaced with a wheel obtained from Sequential Circuits. This was a common problem with the Pro One. One of the rubber feet came unscrewed and was lost. I found an identical foot but could only find a phillips head screw to replace it. Other than those small issues the Pro One is original. It has been well maintained and is ready to satisfy your creative urges. The original manual is included.” Link

If you’re here you probably know what it is, but just in case, this is an analog, monophonic (one note at a time) synthesizer that is roughly equivalent to one voice on the famous Prophet 5 synthesizer. It is serial number 4791. The circuit board is dated 10-28-81 and the warranty tag is dated 7-23-82.

GOOD NEWS: This keyboard plays and sounds fantastic. It is the earlier J-Wire model which is more reliable (and therefore more sought-after). I replaced the key bushings and springs, cleaned and de-oxidised the key contacts, and lubricated the knobs. So, the keyboard is now even with a smooth action (no clanky keys) and the output is very clean with no discernable noise. You are of course free to show up and see for yourself if you are located in the NYC metro area, with no obligation to buy.

BAD NEWS: This synthesizer was modified at some point in time during its life. Some holes were cut in the plastic body to make room for a sequencer, but the modification was poorly performed and so it was removed. These holes have now been patched over, which can be clearly seen in the photos below. Other than this, the synthesizer is in pretty good cosmetic shape for a 30 year old piece of electronics. It has no impact whatsoever on the instrument’s sound or functionality.” Link

One of the most powerful Bass machines you can buy today.

If you layer the sounds when recording it can sound just about the same

Just been fully sericed and tested to make sure everything is in top notch order… all switches and pots were cleaned with Deoxit cleaners and lube.. synth re-tuned, keyboard serviced having all the J-wires and bars cleaned and also a full new set of rubber bushing which have been lubricated with the correct original grease compound

Keyboard is like new again and great to play. Most people moan the keyboards are not good on these but thats not the case. They’ve just not been looked after or serviced

As before this is the better J-Wire version which doesnt suffer from contact issues” Link

This Pro-One is fully functional. The keyboard is J-Wire and the power supply is mounted to the chassis. The serial number is: 100-7406
I purchased this synth earlier this year and am selling to fund purchase of a house. The previous owner claims to have never gigged it and to have been the 3rd owner. It has also never left my studio.

It has been recently tuned and cleaned. As you can see it is in excellent cosmetic condition. All keys move freely and evenly. There are no noisy pots.” Link

I have played, recorded, and maintained this unit for the past 6 years and it’s in fantastic condition. There is a small ding on one of the wood panels and one near the filter section. All the switches, pots, and keys work flawlessly.

Incredible tone and frequency range from it’s 2 main oscillators (oscillator B has a low frequency mode), a very smooth filter, modulation matrix, control voltage in and out, LFO with 3 waveforms (or combinations thereof), a simple sequencing section, and a buddah printed on the circuit board. You can also run an external line in through the filter and control the unit’s gate.

The keyboard is the J-wire style which apparently, is easier to maintain than the membrane style. A key got stuck down a few years a go and it was a simple fix to go in and bend one the J-wires back into place. Replacement parts and midi kits can be purchased at www.winecountrysequential.com

The Pro-One is an analog warthog; different than a moog, just as phat. Used by top artists such as: Depeche Mode, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Nine Inch Nails, and Dr. Dre.

Original manual is included, however all the blank pages for transcribing patches have been written on.” Link

It works great EXCEPT for some intermittent key contacts, and several keys do not appear to connect at all, those are first octave B; second octave D#; and third octave G#. I suspect this problem could be solved by unscrewing the top and cleaning the key contacts, however, I am not skilled enough to perform this operation. The greatest strength of this synth IMO is the interaction between the arpeggiator, the filter and the envelope. The filter sounds fantastic. And, one can achieve extremely psychedelic effects by turning dials on the filter and the envelope while holding down various keys to arpeggiate between those notes” Link

This synth is in near mint condition and was recently cleaned and gone over by Ed Miller, basically the most famous of Los Angeles synth repair men alongside Kevin Lightner. I had Ed clean the pots and make sure everything was in working order. I recently tried to tune the keyboard and think I got in over my head…. so it might need to be tuned/calibrated. There’s four screws inside the synth that will calibrate all of the oscillators, you can access them without having to open the synth through small holes on the faceplate… so that will probably need to be done, and the manual talks you through the process. ” Link

.er besitzt einen onboard bis zu 40 step internen sequencer ..wird einfach note für note über die tastatur eingegeben ,easy !

klasische bassläufe wie zb donna summers i feel love ,kein problem .

I spent about 30 mins playin with it and you can tell the more the unit gets used the better it performs. The filter on this thing is sick! Hopefully you’ve already messed with one of these cause its impossible to explain the sound of this thing.. The unit can be tested and picked up from quad studios in NYC if you’re in the are. I’ve decided to let one of my Sequential Pro One’s go I’ll assume you know how great they are, but if not, send me a message and I’ll tell you all about it

  About this model:
This one is a later membrane keyboard model. In 2005, the previous owner had this model’s keyboard assembly completely revamped by a synth tech and it now works great. Admittedly, as a back up to our J-wire main stay, it has hardly had any use at all over the years since we’ve had it, but all these years later the keyboard remains in perfect working order. The reality is that all Pro One keyboards are terrible, and for most people, it is a non issue because via a MIDI to CV converter, users are free to trigger the electronics via a plethora of MIDI controllers that are out there.Anyway, with that titbit out of the way, I can confirm that every works gloriously!

  Condition:
Is excellent. All potentiometers rotate smoothly and crackle free. There are some cosmetic scratches consistent with an instrument hailing from the eighties era, particularly on the bottom of the unit; please see the images as below. ” Link
