“This is a great sounding Synth, I’ve had the battery replaced with a battery that is Guaranteed not leek. I believe it’s a lithium battery The whole synth has looked over by one of the top keyboard repairmen in Canada. And it is in perfect working condition. The cover for the Arpeggio button is missing, but the arpeggiator still works fine. The corners have a few wear marks and chips, so it is not cosmetically perfect. ” Link

“This is an auction for an awesome Korg Polysix Synthesizer with its original case. The Korg Polysix is a six voice programmable polyphonic synthesizer released by Korg in 1981. It looks and works as I expected it to, though this is the first synthesizer I’ve ever tried. It has been kept in its case in a smoke-free home for about twenty years. I’ve seen others on eBay but none have any sort of protective case. This has always been stored in the original case. There is one missing plastic button, the hold button (see pictures). The hold button functions as expected. ” Link

Korg, Polysix @ 04 June 2011, “No Comments”

A knob for everything and no menus! This is the way analog should be, and Korg did it right back in 1981. Nice chorus/phaser too.

This one has a new clone KLM-367 digital control board. The old one had some battery leak damage. The CPU, thermistor, and the Molex connectors were reused from the old board.” Link

“KORG Polysix

Gebrauchter Vintage Analog-Synthesizer

6 stimmig, 1 Oszillator + Subosz., Filter, LFO, Arpeggiator mit ext. Trigger-In etc.

Link

“This keyboard has been sitting unused in my closet for the last 10 years. I plugged it in and ran it through it’s paces. It powers up and passes signal through my amp. Both oscillators are functioning and making noise. I was able to use it in both monophonic and polyphonic modes . Arpegiator works as well.It definitely makes some awesome sounds! The oscillator seems to be drifting in and out of key. It probably needs servicing. The only problem area on the keyboard is the group of keys pictured above. They stick and do not move well.” Link

“Korg Poly Six Classic synth for sale.NB This is currently not working-It powers up but makes very strange random noises and sometimes no noises at all.It has been in storage for around 16 years(Dry storage in its flightcase).Im having a clearout of all my old synths and this is one of them. It dates circa 1983-There are no Midi connections on it(too early for the MIDI protocol). This can be rerofitted though. This synth needs some TLC to get it working again or else it can be used for parts-No doubt the internal storage memory battery died probably a decade or so back-I don’t know Im not a tech guy – I just dont have the time/funds to mess around getting it sorted Hence this sale. It is in reasonable condition for its age but there are scratches/marks on it but nothing too bad. I will package this up very well prior to getting it couriered but bear in mind it is a heavy item and quite big and I have reflected this in the postage costs.Pick up would be preferred if at all possible-I am in the Manchester/Oldham area.I will upload photos later.Email me for any other info.” Link

“This listing is for a Korg Polysix that has had the battery replaced, traces repaired, and features additional modifications. This Polysix features a p6retro MIDI input circuit. There are also two audio jacks that I’ve added. The left jack is the audio output from the voice board, which bypasses the somewhat noisy effect board. The other jack is an input to the effect board, so you can use the Polysix’s lush effect board, which features rich analog BBD delay chips for Chorus, Phase, and Ensemble effects. Lastly, the arpeggiator trigger input has been converted to accept typical gate signals (V-Trig) from other synths (from this schematic). The keyboard is mostly in tune and performs well except that there are 16 storable patches (instead of 32). This is because Bank A and B call one set of patches, and Bank C and D call another set of patches. Features:

Battery replaced with standard CR2032

Circuit board traces repaired

p6retro MIDI input

Direct voice board out (FX-board bypass)

External audio input (FX-board input)

V-Trig Input” Link

” Link

“For sale is a Korg PolySix analog polyphonic synthesizer from the early 1980′s. This one plays great, has just been serviced, has the factory patches loaded, is in tune, and has absolutely no problems: Every function, switch, knob, jack, button, voice, etc. has been tested and works as it should.

The key contacts have been cleaned and re-plated for trouble free playing. All of the keys work and you will not experience any strange double triggering or misfires while playing it.

The battery has been replaced. Fortunately, the battery did not leak, cause corrosion problems, or damage critical components.

Cosmetically, this synth is not in perfect condition. The veneer has been damaged on the rear side of both cheekblocks which can bee seen in the pictures above.

There is one screw (out of two) missing from the underside of the left side expression panel that cannot be replaced because its anchor has been broken off. It is still sturdy though and does not affect playability.” Link

” I am the original owner of this vintage Korg Polysix. Giged and recorded with it in the 80′s. It has been mostly in

storage since then. I do break it out once in a while just for fun. Its in pretty good condition for its age.

All the original knobs and buttons are in tact and work as they should. It has a few scratches and a little wear on

the wooden end caps. It still has the original rechargable battery.

When I opened it up there was a very small amount of leakage which I cleaned up. The surrounding curcuit

board seems unaffected and all of it’s preset memory is intact. The Keyboard itself is in fair condition with

a little to much side to side movement of the white keys, but still plays fine. I cleaned the key contacts

the best I could and got all the keys working. There are still a few that are slow to respond when you first

turn it on, but with a little playing they all work very well. I will throw in a plywood hand made case that should

protect it in shiping.” Link

“This is an auction is for a Korg Polysix Synthesizer.

Keyboard was traded in from the original owner.

Please read the entire description before bidding.

It has been in storage and has not been played recently.

It is in good condition. The keys look good and feel good.

I am not an expert.

Not sure how everything works. The buttons all seem to work. Sometimes when a button was pushed the Found Manual switch would shut off and that would shut the sound off. As soon as I pushed the button on everything worked again.

I think it needs to be gone over and have some of the contacts cleaned. The keys all work but you would have to press on a few of them to get good contact.

One knob is not original.

Outside casing is in good condition. Bottom of casing has scratches.

Part of the High Low button To Tape is broken off.

Includes a wood case. No manual.” Link

“Up for auction is one of my Polysix’s. I have personally cared for and tuned this synth including the replacement of the dreaded leaking NiCad battery. It sounds and plays beautifully. The board is in very good physical condition considering it’s age. The metal panel looks great. The controls are all in tact and functional. The wood case has some small chips and dings that are visible in the linked images. Many people are replacing these press board cases with higher quality wood components anyway (eg. Synthwood). I had to convince myself that I simply didn’t need two of these boards (love those SSM filters) so here it is. ” Link

“Up for auction is a Korg Polysix S-6 Synthesizer. This item has been tested and is in good working condition. The only issue we are having with this item is the 1-8 Program Selector. The Number 1, 5, & 6 buttons light up and do not turn off and the number 2, 3, 4, 7 & 8 buttons do not light up. When switching to Tape Enable the Number 1 Button turns off. The board holding up all the buttons dips down a little in the middle causing some of the buttons to be lower than others and flush with the top. You can feel each button click as it should and we are not sure what is wrong with the Programmer and if it will need to be repaired which is why we are selling this item AS/IS Only for Repair or Parts. As you can see in the photos the wood has some damage from being previously used. ” Link

“Hello, I’m selling my Korg Polysix analog synthesizer kept in a smoke free studio and in excellent condition. The battery was changed over 2 years ago, so you won’t have to worry about doing that. I think it’s one of the very best single Osc polysynths ever made…and this one is beautiful. Everything works fine with one exception (which occurred about 3 months ago) which deals with the “Ensemble” effect only. The “Ensemble” effect does work on currently stored patches that use that effect and even the amount knob of the ensemble effect still has complete control over the ensemble effect on the patches that have been stored with the ensemble effect (prior to this issue) so in essence it still works fine as long as you are using any patch that currently (a patch stored prior to having this issue) uses this effect. If you change the effect from the ensemble effect to the phaser or chorus, or even turn it to the “off” setting and then turn the effects knob back to the “ensemble” setting then you will no longer hear the ensemble effect on that sound. It hasn’t been an issue to me since all I have to do is to call up the already stored patch that I was just tweaking and the ensemble effect is still affecting that patch (as it was originally stored as part of that patch prior to this issue). All of the other effects work just fine without any issues, as does the rest of the polysix’s functions. Again it has not been an issue for me, but I want to let the buyer know about this. This is a very big sounding poly synth due to having real VCO’s as opposed to having DCO’s , so it really does sound great!” Link

“Korg Polysix with midi retro fit, Vintage European 210-250v

For sale is my beloved Korg Polysix 1981 vintage analogue keyboard, with a midi retro fit, that accepts midi in! This is a clean example of a 30 year old masterpece from the early 80`s. It sounds superb on it`s own, and with the integration of midi, it makes this keyboard very useful.

The battery was replaced, and was fully serviced in 2006. It was only used in a studio envoirement, and it is fully functional. As you may know from my previous auctions, i`m selling all my studio gear, as I need money to fund other stuff, and sadly this is the last item to go.” Link

Korg, Polysix @ 08 January 2011, “No Comments”

“As many of you know this is one of the last of the all analog polysynths, prior to a few more modern efforts. 1981. The polysix uses two CPU’s. One to manage the patch storage, knob reading, most control voltage cell updating, button reading and LED lighting, and one to interface with the keyboard and create control voltages for the vco’s. It also has three of the MN3004 bucket brigade devices to create chorus, phaser or ensemble effects as ‘after processing’ of the analog board’s signal output. Which has 6 VCO’s (transistor pairs that function fairly stably compared to many previous efforts), 6 envelope generators (SSM2056 chips), 6 VCF’s (SSM2044 chips) and discrete analog vca’s. (See my youtube videos using a previous polysix in fact at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDUzG9xAS1c to go over what the circuitry in this unit does basically)

The result is a synthesizer that interacts smoothly in ‘manual’ mode where you are just reading the knobs. Whenever you recall a patch you have to pre-move knobs or they of course will not respond smoothly always. Just the reality of having knobs in arbitrary positions compared to the patch you are calling up. But interacting with the arpeggiator is a lot of fun. A great instrument to explore the analog realm with at a price that pales in comparison to other all analog polysynths that have full knob implementation or something near that AND decent patch storeage..(ie. Oberheims OBX series, Sequential circuits Prophet 5 or 10, Yamaha CS 70M, and Roland Jupiter 6 and 8 of course) Because of the initially low price Korg was able to offer late in the game when technology had matured some and memory prices had dropped etc. these often get looked at as inferior. In some ways they are..they have one VCO per voice. However there is still a lot of synth power here and for the dollar you can’t beat it in all analog world at the moment from a bang/buck vantage point I don’t believe. Wakeman etc. didn’t perform with junk :-)

This machine has been thoroughly gone through and played and will be checked over again after it’s sat for quite a bit here. I like to do that to make sure there are no problems when you receive it. The contacts are notorious on these things and I’ve put my contact disks in which are described on my website. We’ve had great results thus far with these. This particular machine had some that seemed to want to double trigger on release for some reason. I re cleaned the surface below, changed some of the disks and finally got it to where they all seem to respond perfectly. But like I say I’ll check it again before it goes out since I don’t want anyone having troubles.

The CPU board has been completely renovated and so far I’ve we’ve had 100% success in restoring these wonderful machines to reliable working condition! Switches are cleaned and working well and COSMETICALLY this one is pretty decent. It had some scratches I touched up with quality auto paint. I also did a restoration of the sides to full integrity. There was a compressed front left edge there. Wood glue/clamp got the strength back fine there and I used RV goop to hold the veneer so you’ll never have an issue with it pulling up etc. So it’s purely a cosmetic thing you can see in the pic now. One could put different sides on but this thing looked good enough to where I figured someone might want it for function and not care about minor blemishes like this. The sides would put the price up over 1000 dollars if walnut probably.

The tape interface is the best…small files. And works over a broad dynamic range. Really excellent
design by Korg. I have some original patches I can email you if you want to try them out and I can load whatever patches you want on this thing before I ship or leave that to you. I’ve written some new sounds in this thing and..there is a new backup battery of course.

I’m the second owner. The first owner had it in storage for a long time and it had stopped working in the meantime. My tech recently restored it to fully working condition and it’s been working perfectly since.

“If you have been searching for a Polysix, this is the one you have been waiting for. It is my baby and I’m a gear nerd, but I’m a drummer first and have some ridiculously expensive new drums to pay for, so my loss is your gain. I acquired it from the original owner 12 years ago for my home studio and it is in superb condition. The wood panels are in great shape with some very minor scuffs and only two corner dings for a 30 year old unit as you can see in the pics, and the body is practically immaculate. I know all about the battery issues that have plagued this particular model, but this one has the original NiCad battery with absolutely no leakage (trust me, I’ve been vigilant) and still holds all the patches in memory. It has been in a temperature controlled environment its entire life so I think that has a lot to do with it, and although I’m no stranger to a soldering iron, I just didn’t have the heart to operate on her… as Dad used to say, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. The key contacts were cleaned about a year ago, and every key, LED, knob, and switch is in good working order. You’d be hard pressed to find one in better condition.

As for the sound… This thing is FAT. There is no mistaking the vintage sound of a voltage controlled oscillator to its digital counterpart. The joy of old beasts like this is mainly in the fun of creating infinite possibilities just twisting knobs. I’ve literally spent hours just fooling around with the arpeggiator and feeding the output to my computer to get some of the coolest sample parts with much more depth and character than you could ever hope to get from a newer or virtual synth. These things are highly sought after for a reason.

I am including my copies of the user manual and the service manual.” Link

“As you can see from my feedback, I have bought and sold around 700 guitars and effects with perfect feedback. I will tell you honestly that I do not play keyboards and usually stay away from that which I do not know. I recently took in this Polysix and oh my gosh, what a fun crazy thing it is! I have no idea how to play or program but it sure is fun!

Here is what I can tell you:

She plugs in and turns on. Good sound when plugged into my amp.

A crazy mount to knobs, settings and effects emerg!

Every button lights up.

“Blend and MG” dials on the bottom left work.

Plenty of bumps and bruises

I note that 2 keys do not work: the lowest white key and the 8th white key from the left. This is being sold as is. No idea if an easy fix or not. All the other keys make sound. All the keys press down and pop back up.

All the knobs and dials are intact and light up.

Yes the sound is good when you plug into a speaker.” Link

“Here for sale is my Korg Polysix Analog Synth. It is in full working order including the memory banks. I have saved a set of sounds in them, although they are not the original bank sounds. The battery has been changed so no problems with any leaking.

I would say that the condition of the synth is good for it’s age (1981). There are some chips to the end panels as with most synth of this age and some light markings here and there. There is also a small dent above the red button (although it is hard to notice).

This synth is a real classic warm analog beast with real hands on tweaking to find that perfect killer bass/lead/sci-fi etc sound!” Link

Link

“KORG POLYSIX SYNTHESIZERS analog polyphonic PS-6 FIXME…..This Korg turns on and lights come on….nobs make things speed up, etc. but it is not producing sound. Once again, this unit is not in working order, but the power does come on and lights function. Bid accordingly, but this will be a great deal for someone who can fix this unit.” Link
