Der Synthesizer wurde von uns angeschlossen und ausprobiert (Tastatur, Display, Joystick, Filter, Programmierung, Midi-Ansteuerung).
Alles funktioniert einwandfrei. Für einen stabilen Lauf, insbesondere Midi-Ansteuerung über Sequenzer, ist die übliche Aufwärmphase (15 bis 30 Minuten) alter analoger Geräte notwendig.
Ob die Speicherbatterie mal ausgewechselt wurde wissen wir nicht.
Zum Sound:
Die Originalpresets wurden per Midi wiederhergestellt. Der Poly 800II ist bekannt für seine druckvollen Bässe. Dem kann ich nur zustimmen, weshalb ich mir ein paar der Basssounds (Preset44) sogar noch schnell als Wave-File gespeichert habe. Auch andere Sounds sind sehr druckvoll und klingen bekannt, gerade aus alten Techno-Produktionen. Dann gibt es unter den 78 Presets auch noch die unbrauchbaren berühmten ca. 5 Stück die einfach schlecht, dreckig und kaputt klingen.” Link

The synth is in working condition, but it does have an important performance issue, so please read carefully before bidding.
If powered on normally, the pitch is transposed by 1/2 step. For example, hitting the “A” key on the keyboard will actually produce the pitch Gb when compared to another instrument.
There are a few ways to work around this problem, but the easiest way for me was to set the range control for the pitch bend joystick at a few half steps and hold the joystick to the left while powering up the unit. This will transpose the keyboard, so you can properly tune it to other instruments. When you do this, the keyboard plays normally, as if it didn’t have a problem. I can’t explain the exact technical details why this works, but it’s basically because the synth “calibrates” itself with the pitch bend joystick when powering up, so you can “trick” it into playing normally.
Cosmetically, this synth is in fairly decent condition considering it’s age. It has a few dings and scratches and there are some worn areas on the housing – the close up photo shows the worst of the cosmetic problems.
The unit can be powered by batteries or an AC adaptor. This auction is for the keyboard only – no adaptor is included.” Link

These units sound excellent — Digitally controlled analog oscillators as well as a real voltage controlled filter, the controls for which are placed directly at your fingertips with the moog slayer filter mod! The primary issues, which are purely cosmetic, are a single hole drilled above the filter pots where the previous owner attempted to install the same mod, as well as some sticker residue near the joystick and some light scratching on the upper right hand side. * The Digital Delay isn’t working

This unit is in good working order and as been well cared for over the 15 years I’ve had it. It’s in nice shape for its age. It does have a few spots were it shows tape residue from prior owner. Just above the joy stick, a small spot on the right side top edge and some on the window of the read out were it said Poly 800II and were the value # shows.
Will include wall wart power supply (Not Original) but works fine with unit.

It has no modifications done on it, but i would recommend the moog slayer or hawk mods as they would make the poly 800 truly sing. A few scuffs here and there, but the keys and buttons are intact and the functionality of the synth is as it should be. It even has the pitch bend/lfo knob. Perfect! This Korg Poly-800 II really is in superb condition with barely a scratch on it, all legending intact and everything fully working including memory retention etc. It has only ever been used in a smoke-free home studio environment and never gigged. It was released in the 1980′s and is basically an analogue synth trying to be digital, as opposed to today’s digital synth’s trying to be analogue. It has a genuine self oscillating resonant VCF, 8 x DCO’s with square and trangle waves that can be used in 8 voice, dual 4 voice (each oscillator going through its own envelope generator) or unison via the chord memory function (where you play whatever notes you want to sound in a single key press, i.e. a chord or 4 octaves unison etc). It has a step sequencer and a very useful 1024ms digital delay with modulation function. It is all fully programmable, with 64 user memories in 8 banks of 8. Patches can’t be named though, just numbered.
The Korg Poly-800 II is vastly better than the original Poly-800 due to the bigger sequencer, better MIDI and modulatable digital delay. It is not touch or pressure sensitive, but is fully MIDI equipped. It has L / R / Phones outputs, MIDI in/out, plus tape backup in/out. It really is very easy to program, and all parameters are displayed on the top panel. You can get a Moog Slayer mod which gives you live knob control over the filter. It is fully portable in that it has guitar strap hooks on the side and can run on 6 x D batteries (the big ones).
It sounds like a traditional analogue synth, and the VCF is essential and quite respectable and analogue going from dark and hollow to bright rasping. You may already know, but it has a quirk in that there is just 1 VCF for all 8 notes. In practice this really doesn’t affect things as much as you might think. The biggest ommission in my mind is portamento, as it would have been nice to be able to do TB-303 emulations.
You can get a much wider range of sounds out of it than a Roland Juno-6. The analogue bass sounds are really nice, and it is especially good at synth flute sounds. The presets it came with are pretty cheesey, and I have overwritten many of them with my own much better programs, but you can easily download the original presets over the internet if you wish, assuming you have a USB-MIDI connector (I’m not including that in this sale). ” Link
“This must have been in my loft for over twenty years (What a hoarder). I used it in my very first home studio set-up. It is, as you can see, a reverse keys version. Quite collectable so I am told. However it is showing its age. I fired it up and it started very promisingly, all the lights came on, it stepped through the numbers without a problem but I could only get one oscillating sound from it. It is possible that the settings need re-loading, but I can’t be sure. (I have the original cassette tape with the settings loaded on it (told you I was a hoarder) so it may only require running that into it, but I couldn’t guarantee it, so I have listed it as for spares only.” Link

All buttons and the pitch bender/joystick work perfect. The synthesizer has guitar pegs and guitar strap and can be run off C batteries and used as a keytar. Keys have been modified and painted black with blue l.e.d.’s under the keys to give it a really cool polished look. The l.e.d.’s kinda give the keys a blue backlit look. You will look awesome with this on stage or it would look great in a studio. It’s a great synth but I need to sell some of my synths right now.” Link

Great joystick that bends the note or oscillates it. Used it a lot for recording but never played out with it. Resided in a smoke-free home and still has many years of joy to bring to it’s next owner. An SM57 took out the highest B-key when a mic stand tipped over but no other damage was incurred. It can be replaced here on eBay. Included is a generic adapter that powers the unit. Great keyboard with minimal wear to be expected for a keyboard of this age. “I actually bought this new around 1984/1985. It has been in a pet free, smoke free home since them. Has not been played in about 20 years. I just tested it powers right up and it seems that all the keys and slides/buttons work fine.Joystick works fine and parameter list still firmly glued on. Seems to play fine. No cracked keys either.In good Shape ! There is some brown staining on “c” battery door. It has not had batteries in it in years! It also probably needs the internal batteries replaced as it is out of tune a bit but they are available on eBay as well for about $5.. Comes with original AC adapter and the original users manual. A great addition to any vintage keyboard buffs collection or someone who likes the old school synth sounds. I no longer play so it is doing me no good sitting in a cabinet.
