“Here is a beautiful example of the Multimoog synthesizer. It has a few scattered small scratches, but is otherwise in pristine condition.

This Multi functions perfectly as well. Please see the video below for a demonstration of this synthesizer’s functional state.

The filter modification, found here, is installed. It increases the bass response when sweeping the filter.

Note in the video demo that when the mixer splits the signal evenly between the two oscillators, the volume decreases. This is by design as described by well-known synth technician, Kevin Lightner:

“The Multimoog added a second and third board that contained an additional VCO (and aftertouch, etc.) They routed both VCOs in a different way and with less distortion. Had they run both VCOs hot, they would have increased intermodulation distortion, which wouldn’t have sounded very pleasing.”

This is an amazing instrument. The aftertouch “Keyboard Touch Force Sensor” adds much expressiveness when playing. This model also has selectable multi-triggering/retriggering, which is somewhat rare for Moog synths.

The interface jacks on the back make this keyboard a good candidate for integrating with a modular system. Note the many patch points on the back of the synth illustrated in the photographs accompanying this listing.

Although this is a museum quality instrument, it is offered AS-IS; I will not accept returns because an aspect of the instrument’s design is different than expected.” Link

“Bob Moog’s analog ultra-rare masterpiece:
Moog Multimoog

Completely reconditioned and serviced!
Rare! Only 1000 units made. Serial # “2141″
44 keys w/ working aftertouch (rare!!)
True vintage analog synth
Gobs of modulation routing!

About this unit:
~~~ THIS ITEM IS BEING RELISTED ~~~
This synthesizer was purchased used from a friend, and to be honest, when I got it, it needed some serious love. I planned to keep this unit in my collection forever, but unfortunately circumstances dictate that it’s time to sell!
This unit was recently completely restored by the area’s foremost expert on Moog and Sequential Circuits gear. The unit plays and functions perfectly, with the exception of one issue that recently cropped up: the ‘noise’ circuit does not seem to be functioning. This should be about a $75 repair should you choose to fix it. Because of this issue, the sample and hold function works more like a square-wave LFO (works more like a ‘gating’ effect than a true sample/hold), and of course the ‘noise’ knob does not add any noise to the signal path.
The aftertouch feature is fully functional on this unit, which is a rare feature – the part to fix this is very hard to find (and cost me a small fortune to fix!) as a result, this is one of the few Multimoog’s I’ve ever seen with this feature working! This is a very rare synthesizer – only about 1000 units were produced!
Internally it’s 9/10 from the restoration. Aside from the noise-generator circuit which seems to work intermittently, the synth functions perfectly: Oscillators stay in tune, aftertouch is fully functional, all switches and knobs work perfectly and without issue. Cosmetically, I rate this 8/10 – The Moog logo on the front panel is missing, and the bottom show some minor scrapes from the years. I have left the unit in this condition because I believe it makes it more “authentic”. These cosmetic issues can be easily remedied should you feel otherwise. Otherwise this unit is in excellent shape: All original knobs, mod wheel, pitch ribbon, vinyl front-face schematic/stencil, and keys (except for the key bushings which were fully replaced for the recondition). All keys on the keyboard play perfectly, and smoothly including the aftertouch feature! Aside from the missing front panel logo, all of the unit’s factory labels/branding remain intact.” Link
“Multimoog Synthesizer. Moog Music. Made in USA. Modell 326A. Serial No. 2326.
Ein gebrauchter, aber für das Alter noch sehr gut erhaltener Synthesizer der Fa. Moog Music.
Der Synthesizer wurde vor etwa einem Jahr komplett gewartet und gereinigt.Die Bodenplatte wurde ersetzt.
Alle Funktionen, bis auf den Aftertouch,sind in Ordnung.Sollte aber zu beheben sein.
Ich erspare mir an dieser Stelle eine Aufzählung der einzelnen Funktionen des Multimoogs,da diese hinreichlich
bekannt sind.Einen Schönheitsfehler stellen die “Beklebungen” der beiden Seitenteile dar,die sich an einigen
Stellen lösen.(Siehe Bild).Sie müssen nur durch eine neue Klebefolie ersetzt werden.
Ich biete einen Versand durch DHL an.Alternativ kann der Synthesizer abgeholt werden. ( Idar Oberstein)
Eine Vorabbesichtigung sowie ein Probespielen ist nach Absprache möglich.
“In VG+ cosmetic condition as depicted with a few minor scratches top bottom front back sides. Everything works, including ribbon controller. Some pots slightly scratchy and should be cleaned with ChemWash, one or two keys slightly sticky and may need key contacts cleaned. Two white slider caps missing. ” Link
“1st of all – the Filter Envelope SUSTAIN ON/OFF switch is quite touchy. It will go into “sustain” mode easily, but the non-sustain envelope mode has to be carefully positioned. Maybe this should be cleaned or replaced.
The plastic face has peeled-up a little (maybe 1/4″) on the bottom of the front panel (hardly noticeable and has no negative effects).
The paint of the pointer for two of the knobs has worn a little.
Other than that, this thing is a BEAUTY! Very clean. Keys trigger fine, after-touch works good (you have to press a little harder in the middle of the keyboard compared to the upper/lower octaves). Inputs and outputs work fine. Ribbon works good. Oscillators are in tune and track.
The ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL is also included – this is an interesting document, a very good read! The original power cable is included, too.” Link
“Up for sale is a Moog Multimoog Synthesizer Serial # 1058, only 1000 of these were made and the serials started at 1000 so, this is the 58th one out of a thousand made. I’ve owned this since 2003 and when I bought it was working but the keyboard sub-assembly was pretty shot and the action was bad (i.e. some notes triggering randomly, bad contacts.) This is a project that I almost finished. I was lucky enough to purchase a brand new keyboard and I installed it but never soldered the leads back together (see pics). The new subassembly looks and feel great (see pics). I also made a new base for it and redid the side cheeks with new vinyl (see pics). It has been in storage since 2006 and a couple of days ago I opened her up to inspect and take pics. The unit does power up with no output, because the leads need to be re-soldered (see pics.) The only two issues I can see are: 1- the unsoldered leads and 2- the leads to the pitch ribbon need resoldered (see pics). the left hand controller is in good shape with the exception of the leads to the pitch ribbon which I mentioned (see pics.). All pots and switches are intact with their respective knobs and caps. All circuit boards are intact and in good shape. I have extra white switch caps that I’ll include in the sale. I also have the original base and a copy of the technical service guide which I’ll also include. With minimal repair this unit will work as good as new.” Link
“The Item: MOOG Multimoog Synthesizer Super Rare
Rarely seen on eBay, a very rare two oscillator Moog Synthesizer from 1979.
This Synthesizer has some stuck keys and needs work to function as it did. It is not functioning 100%.
Do not Bid on this unless you know what this is and how to get it working again, or know a technician who can work on it.
See photos of actual synth you are bidding on. The Moog was made around 1979. Very rare, have not seen one of these on eBay.
I made a video to show the actual Moog in action. As you can see and hear, all functions work, but some of the keys don’t always trigger notes. I am not sure, but I think it is just a triggering problem with the keys. The oscillators and filters and amps all seem to work 100%, nothing weird there.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZcGcLClBP8 = link to video of This Multimoog made today.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivI8bylws7g = link to This Multimoog made after serviced by technician.
Physically the Moog is in fantastic shape. No major scratches or dings. It looks like it wasn’t used very much at all. All knobs and keys and sliders are working and original. None of the pots aka potentiometers aka knobs are loose or sticky or noisy.
Bottom of Moog is some kind of particle board-ish wood that is flaking off at one corner, see photos. This is the only part of the Moog that might need attention as the wood is over 30 years old and it looks like wood rot or something, luckily it’s just on the one corner.
No original box no manual no power cord what you see is what you get.
The sounds that this makes are beyond amazing. 100% analog. The pitch wheel and ribbon work 100% and really make this expressive. It has two oscillators which can be mixed and a ‘doubling’ knob that also sends another note one or two octaves lower.
This also has assignable aftertouch. Pressing a key after initial press can trigger pitch, or sample and hold or whatever you assign it to. Endless sounds.
Repeating: This syntheisizer is semi-working and needs service by a technician who knows old analog synths.” Link
“Hier wird der inzwischen sehr seltene Multimoog versteigert.
Er müßte mal richtig eingestellt werden,
und dazu fehlt mir die Zeit.
Altersbedingt hat er Mängel:
Die Kontakte der Tastatur müssen ein paar Minuten gespielt werden,
damit die Töne wieder richtig kommen.
Das liegt daran, daß er so gut wie nie mehr gespielt wurde.
Ausserdem kommt auch irgend so ein Sound, wenn keine Taste gedrückt wird.
Da ich nicht so viel Ahnung von den ganzen Knöpfen habe,
muß ich ihn als defekt verkaufen.
Viellleicht muß man mal innen alle Steckkontakte lösen und
wieder zusammen stecken, ICs aus den Sockeln ziehen und wieder rein stecken.
Das Gerät ist nun mal intwischen über 30 Jahre alt.” Link
Moog, Multimoog @ 13 December 2010, “No Comments”
“Your are looking at the rare Multimoog synthesizer. Only one thousand of these were made. Many have been parted out to repair others. So there are not many left of this special synth.
This one is in correct working order and is in excellent condition.
This was the last synthesizer designed by Bob Moog himself from the original Moog Music company in New York. He had already sold the company and name to Norlin, but he had a contract to stay on
and continue working for a couple of years. He was the designer of this wonderful synth as the slightly smaller version of the Minimoog. It was the last synth he made with the original company.
It still uses the famous Moog filter design and can do a few things the Mini could not do. First of these special traits was its modulation routing. It was, relatively speaking, capable of more routing possibilities for modulation. It also has aftertouch. it is one of the first synths to have this feature. Play a note and then press a little harder to add that extra bit of expression – maybe a vibrato or a filter change. Also, Bob Moog designed the first portable synthesizers to be modular. The Multi and Mini among others (Micro and Prodigy to name a couple) had ins and outs included on the back to you could connect a couple of these gems together for even more power. He wanted to be able to include some of what he had started out with in building his large modular synthesizers.
This one is in excellent condition with some minor wear and tear. Since I have owned it has not been gigged at all. I used it here and there in my small home studio which is smoke-free and pet-free always.
As you can see there is a small piece missing from one of the wood veneer side panels. That came with the synth when I bought it. You could buy new veneer and replace the ends if you felt like it. Also, if you look at the backplate for the controls you will see the edges are warped a little and I have seen this happen on virtually every Multimoog I have seen. I have seen a couple without tis but that is a rarity and not the norm. I am sure Mr. Moog would have preferred a wood console but my guess is the new owners wanted to use plastic on the outside to cut down on cost. However, the inside of this synth is as rugged and able to withstand normal use like most of the synthesizers out there” Link
“Verkaufe Moog Multimoog analog Synthesizer , 70er Jahre
Das Gerät ist eigentlich gut erhalten, grundsätzlich funktioniert der Synthesizer und macht einen tollen Sound.
Er hat einen Ribbon Controller und Tastatur-Druckempfindlichkeit.
Optisch ist der Synth sehr schön erhalten
Es gibt aber zwei Dinge die nicht in Ordnung sind :
- Er verstimmt sich
- Die Tastatur Druckempfindlichkeit geht auch nur sehr, sehr schwach.
Ich empfehle das Gerät mal überholen zu lassen.
Diese Moog Synths sind hier in Europa recht selten zu finden.
Ein wirklich toller Synthesizer für Sammler und für den professionellen Studio, bzw. Live- Betrieb.
Dies ist ein Privatverkauf daher gebe ich keine Gewährleistung, Garantie oder Rücknahme auf das Gerät !” Link
“Up for auction is a vintage Multimoog, It has been played daily and is excellent working condition. Aftertouch and mod strip work perfectly, as do all other modulation functions and the oscillators seem to be in perfect tune. These are quite rare, some say only 1000 were made, includes original manual. This item does comes with a power cord. Im only selling this because I have far more synths than I need.” Link
“I am selling my Moog Multimoog synth. This is a late 70′s two oscillator monophonic instrument that is in excellent condition- very clean cosmetically and electronically- everything works. The aftertouch and ribbon slider function wonderfully. I should be able to upload a video in the next day or two. The one cosmetic flaw is the missing Moog sticker on the front panel. I have switched the AC power over to European 220V.
The Multimoog has a very playable and intuitive layout with a classic analog synth sound. I have used the filter section to process external instruments and sound sources when mixing records. ” Link
“Up for no reserve auction is a Vintage Moog Mulitimoog Keyboard Synthesizer. I have had this keyboad in storage for the last twenty years and have decided to sell it. It seams to be working although, I am not a keyboard player and have not learned to use it, it is making sounds and seems to be working. The good news is that it comes with the original owners manual. There are two issues with it the first is that it is missing the outside top part to the touch sensor next to the pitch wheel and one knob has been broken of at the attack loundness contour section at the far right of the keyboard. Other than those two issues it seams to be fuctioning and original. I still have the knob and you can still turn that pot with your fingers to adjust the attack. The serial number is 2263. This being a vintage keyboard, I am selling it as is.” Link
multimoog “This is my last Moog. Maybe it can be your first! Dont make me waste time telling you what it can do. If youre willing to bid on it, you should already know lots about it. Let me tell you what it wont do. It wont play in tune with both oscillators until you or someone else calibrates them. I finally gave it a shot a year or two ago and made a huge improvement over how it was before, but its still not exactly right, but I think it will get there with some work. It has some wrinkling in the vinyl “woodgrain” applique on one side particularly. Nothing to cry about, but must be mentioned. It also has always had a peccadillo with the aftertouch feature, it seems to work fine the first time you apply it, but after that its a little flaky. I dont think it has anything to do with the sensor mechanism, but I DONT KNOW what the problem is. The sliding rocker switches that select filter tracking and filter mod are a little dirty and fussy, Other than those things, as far as I know everything works great, all the modulation features, etc, This is a really rare Moog model, often said to be only 1,000 produced. Has lots of ins and outs on the back, I will include a Synthesizers.com gate to Moog trigger cable that allows you to use a standard envelope generator into the filter mod input, making a much more defined sound out of it if you have any modular or patchable equiptment.” Link
multi “There is something about those phat Moog filters and circuitry that makes the Moog emanate a certain ephemeral sound. Bob Moog himself said he thought he somehow tapped into an mirrored the eternal vibration of nature with his design. I know that sounds kind of twilight zoneish but all you have to do is play it for awhile and you’ll soon be a believer. It’s a fantastic form of mediation. You can sit down an play it for hours on end. Soon you’re completely absorbed in the wash of sound. The persona is peeled back like an onion and the onset and subsequent dissolution of subject/object begins and Berber’s I and thou Nirvana is achieved. Then suddenly you’re yanked from the womb…your wife looking down at you…her hair up in curlers and those large pink fuzzy slippers on. She shouts “hey, cabbage for brains, how’s about getting the job at Meineke to pay for this like you promised.” Reality is back in all her cold and curious forms. Anyway, you sure aren’t going to find anything like this at Banjo center…expect to pay a bit more for that.
Cosmetically the instrument looks great except for where the control face plate has curled up ever so slightly on a couple of the corners (see pics). I sat down to test the instrument a couple of nights ago and everything seems to be in good working order.” Link
multimoog “Here is a Moog Multimoog analog synthesizer for auction. This is a re-listing Due to a non-paying bidder. This unit comes with the owners manual which also has some technical diagrams in the back for service. It also comes with the power cable and an old Multimoog color ad that was in the manual when I bought it. I hate to sell this unit, but I need to. This unit is working great. All keys, knobs, buttons, etc are working as they should. It sounds really similar to a Minimoog.
Basically, when you hear most classic Minimoog sounds, you’re hearing the equivalent of a Multimoog Since most classic Minimoog patches are only using two oscillators for the sound and the third for the LFO. The Multimoog has two audio oscillators and a separate LFO, but also has some pretty cool features the Minimoog does not. Such as, a pressure sensitive keyboard that can trigger vibrato, pitch bend, filter modulation, etc. Plus you can put the oscillators in sync mode like an Arp Odyssey for that famous Prophet-5 “sync” sound. It’s a great little classic synth in great working condition.
That said, as with just about every other vintage analog synth you’ll find for sale, this item is being sold AS-IS. That is because it is long discontinued and although built like a tank, this is a vintage Machine. Older synths such as this may need adjustments after being shipped. I definitely know how to ship synths, and I will pack it really well. Also there are no refunds on this unit. Please do not bid on this item unless you’re sure you want an old analog synthesizer. You won’t be sorry. It sounds fantastic and has tons of personality.
Cosmetically I would rate it an 8 out of 10. Mainly because the woodgrain paper on the right endbell (see pic) has a couple of cracks in it. This is just a fake woodgrain plastic sheeting that they stuck to the sides that looks like wood, but it’s not. Should be really easy to fix if one was bothered by it. Also, there is a rubber sheet that covers the front panel that is starting to lift up right below where it says “multimoog synthesizer” on the right hand side above the keyboard. This is just a soft rubbery panel that could easily be glued back down if one wanted to. I decided to leave that up to the buyer, but I wanted to point out those details.” Link
“Moog Multimoog Synthesizer, unit is in good cosmetic condition, I would give it a 7/10, it is missing 1 switch cap, and one of the bottom access covers
I tried all the knobs and switches and everything seems to be functioning the way it is supposed to.
The ribbon is showing a bit of wear, but still functions perfectly, and I found that you have to press the keys a little harder than normal to get the force sensor to work.
The keyboard does need re-calibrating and tuning, I did not bother doing it, because after shipping it would need it again anyway.
Comes with the power cord, and a copy of the service manual.” Link
“I AM SELLING THIS AS IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS AN OLDER PIECE AND I DO NOT HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO TEST THIS 100% AS I AM NOT A MUSICIAN.
