“We have a Roland MSQ 700 for sale!
This fantastic unit is working properly and well.
Jacks and controls operate properly with no intermittence.
Unit in in great shape overall showing very little wear.
Screen is nice and bright.
Unit requires the infamous two-prong power cable; we do not have one to include in this auction.
How did we test it, you say? With our patented “Death Cable” made from speaker connectors!!!! (see photo #8).
We are not including the Death Cable due to liablility reasons.
One can easily retrofit the unit for a standard three-pin IEC cable or find one of the old-school cables.” Link

“Up for auction is a vintage Roland SBX-80 Sync Box as well as a Roland MSQ-700. Terrific vintage relics from our musical past. The Sync Box offers many options for sending and receiving different beat sources. I purchased this piece originally to (DIN)sync a TR-808 and/or Roland CR-8000 Drum machines with a tap tempo. This also works well to tap tempo for arpeggiators inputs on any period synth (Jupiter 4, 6, 8, Juno-60, Korg Mono/Poly etc…). I am including a DIN/SYNC cable with this particular piece (looks like a MIDI cable but pin-configured differently). Also included is a Roland MSQ-700. I purchased this particular unit to sequence with a JUNO-60 with a DCB port.” Link

“Zum Verkauf kommt hier ein MSQ 700 Sequenzer. Das Gerät braucht eine neue Pufferbatterie und wird daher als defekt Angeboten. Wenn man das Gerät einschalten dann passiert erstmal nichts dann 8888 im Display. Nach einer weile wenn sich die Pufferbatterie regeneriert hat kann man mit dem Gerät arbeiten. Ich weise ausdrücklich darauf hin das dieses Gerät nicht zufriedenstellend funktioniert” Link

“This unit has had one owner, and has been in storage for over 10 years. I powered it up, and recorded a simple MIDI sequence with it and it seems to work fine. The power cable is included, as well as the original owner’s manual.” Link

MSQ-700, Roland @ 12 September 2010, “No Comments”

“The Roland MSQ-700 was the worlds first MIDI sequencer. It is an 8 track sequencer that can hold 6500 notes. Has part mode and song mode and can also do overdubs.

It also has a DCB port for sequencing the Jupiter 8 or the Juno 60. Sadly, it cannot sequencer both MIDI and DCB at the same time, only one of the other.

BUT…

One of the coolest things it does is to sync MIDI clock to Roland’s proprietary DINSync24 for all your XOX boxes (TR-808, 909, 303, 606, etc). You can step sequence your 808 and then lock its sequencer to your computer’s MIDI clock and have perfect timing between the drum machine and your host sequencer (Logic, ProTools, DP, Live, etc). This is primarily what I used the MSQ for.

The removable 2 prong Roland power cord has been replaced with a hard wired 3 prong power cable. Comes with a copy of the manual. ” Link

“This is a great synth! Im going to miss this one. Everything works on it. Theres a couple scratchy sliders, but all still work fine. Also included is a MSQ 700 & DCB cable to connect your Juno 60 to.” Link

This vintage step sequencer looks and feels beautiful. Near mint condition (9 out of 10, losing a 1 only because of its age) – works perfectly as a classic pattern step sequencer. I used it in a traditional MIDI set up but it’s possibly more coveted for it’s ability to control the Juno 60 and Jupiter 8. Original list price of $1,195 in 1984, own a piece of history!” Link
