I tested the unit but the sound goes on and off during play, and the output level becomes very low or sometimes just disappears when that happen. Also I couldn’t seem to get the pitch or tone from the keys when I played, but I’m not an expert these so I’m not sure whether I had the correct setting for it or not. But otherwise the unit makes a sound, and the knobs seem to be responding when you turn them. I have not tested the patches.

“Here is my Korg MS10 synth dating from the late 70s. A great mono synth capable of creating some subtle and not so subtle analog sounds. The synth has a great lead & bass sound and can produce some fantastic effects. The patch bay means you can assign the control wheel to create modulation, pitch bend and filter cut off effects. These synths are very collectable and there are plenty of demos of them on youtube. I purchased this recently for a now finished recording project and need to move it on. It is in very good cosmetic condition with a few scuffs and marks from 30+ years use. It comes with patch leads pictured, you can get the manual online. The synth functions well for its age although some of the control pots could do with a squirt of compressed air or switch clean as they are a bit scratchy although not an issue when set. There is a modification to the unit with a small switch at the control wheel that doesn’t seem to do much. All keys function however the lowest octave G note sound a bit flat if not keyed properly. I really want this to be picked up in person as old synths don’t travel well.” Link

The midi to CV converter is a Philip Rees 16 channel with CV out, gate out & midi in. This controls the MS10 brilliantly.
Condition is used but very good considering its age. The only damage is the chipped key which you can see in the picture.

“The MS-10 was produced by Korg in late 1978 and into the 1980s. Featuring a 32-note (F-C) keyboard and semi-modular design, in that you could reroute the signal of some modules via patch cords, but you don’t have to use patch cords to make a basic synthesizer sound. A monophonic synth, the MS-10 has one VCO, one VCF, an LFO with multiple waveforms, an ADSR with hold controls, and knobs to control pitch, portamento time, external signal level, resonance, and pulse width. It also had one wheel, for pitch bend. This synth produces some classic sounds and is in great condition. I have had this in my possession for about 5 years now and have loved every minute of it. Es handelt sich hier um einen sehr gut erhaltenen analogen, monophonen Synthesizer aus zweiter Hand, der für seine extrem druckvollen Basssounds, seinen – wenn gewollt – dreckig klingenden Filter sowie für markante perkussive und singende Leadsounds berühmt ist.
Der MS-10 ist modular aufgebaut und der Oszillator lässt sich auf den VCF und den VCA patchen. Ein von mir hochgeschätztes Feature ist die Möglichkeit, externe Signale durch die Filtersektion des Synthesizers laufen zu lassen und mit dem Klang des MS-10 zu mischen. Drums oder Bässe, aber auch komplexere Klänge, werden durch die Bearbeitung wahnsinnig druckvoll… und wenn man es darauf anlegt auch richtig kaputt.
Aber sein größtes Potential entfaltet der MS-10 wenn er als Bassmaschine oder Leadsynth, ob perkussiv, noisig oder melodiös, eingesetzt wird. Das Filter ist wirklich einzigartig, die anfangs überschaubar erscheinenden Möglichkeiten des Geräts werden nach kurzer Eingewöhnungphase aber zu großen Spielwiese, auf der man manchmal ein wenig hängen bleibt und stundenlang neue, eigenständige Sounds bastelt. Auf fast allen Aufnahmen die ich in vier Jahren mit dem Gerät angefertigt habe ist der MS-10 zum Einsatz gekommen und wenn ich nur mit der Sinuswelle einen zu dünn geratenen E-Bass angefettet habe, was ganz ausgezeichnet funktioniert.
Live ist der Synthesizer eine totale Waffe und wird nicht umsonst bspw. immer von Console verwendet um auf der Bühne die Bassounds zu erzeugen. Es macht einfach sehr viel Spaß live (und im Studio) intuitiv mit dem MS-10 einen Sound zu kreieren oder zu improvisieren und nebenbei ist es auch noch beruhigend zu wissen das man den Mischer mit dem Bassdruck des Synthesizers jederzeit herausfordern kann.
Der MS-10 stammt aus England, wo ich ihn vom Erstbesitzer gekauft habe. Den Adapter auf das deutsche Netz lege ich zum Synthesizer dazu. Interessierte Käufer können den MS-10 gerne nach Absprache ausprobieren.
Zum Zustand des Synthesizers:
Technisch ist der MS-10 vollkommen in Ordnung, er hält die Stimmung für einen analogen Synthesizer ausgesprochen gut (ich hab auch schon MS-10′s unter den Fingern gehabt die alle 30 Minuten den Tuner gebraucht haben), die Potis kratzen nicht und der Output ist konstant hoch.
Sowohl was die Funktion, als auch das Äußere angeht, hat dieser MS-10 davon profitiert immer in dem hier mit angebotenen Case unterwegs gewesen zu sein. Die Gebrauchspuren halten sich dementsprechend absolut im Rahmen (siehe Fotos).
Ich habe das Gerät fast nur im Heimstudio (Nichtraucher) verwendet und wenn es unterwegs war immer im Case bewegt und benutzt – praktischer Weise lässt sich der MS-10 ohne jede Einschränkung in der unteren Hälfte des Cases spielen (siehe Foto 6)!
Das schwarze Case ist sehr solide, hat zwei Schnappverschlüsse aus Metall, einen Tragegurt und eine Kammer, in die neben Kabeln, einer Verteilersteckdose und Effektgeräten sogar mein Casio SK-1 passt. Die meisten dürften wissen was ein neues Case kostet, von daher ist der MS-10 hier im Paket mit dem passenden Transportschutz ein Schnäppchen! Der letzte MS-10, den ich hier beobachtet habe, ging für 690 € raus, ohne Case…” Link

Der Synthesizer ist hier zusätzlich mit einer seltenen Modifikation versehen. An der linken Seite befindet sich eine zusätzliche Buchse, die wie der “Trigger In” Eingang am Patchpanel funktioniert- mir ist nicht ganz klar wozu diese Modifikation angebracht wurde, sie beeinträchtigt die reguläre Funktionsweise des Synthesizers jedoch in keinster Weise.
Am Zustand des MS 10 ist an sich kaum etwas zu bemängeln. Der MS 10 hat jetzt ja doch schon ein paar Jahre auf dem Buckel, aber keine Taste, keine Regler ist irgendwie schwerfällig oder gar defekt. Auch die Oberfläche ist bemerkenswert gut erhalten, wenn natürlich der ein oder andere kleine Spur verzeichnet ist.
Problematisch ist dafür die Unterseite des Synthesizers. Hier merkt man ihm sein Alter doch an, leider sind hier zahlreiche Rostflecken auf der Platte entstanden (siehe Foto). Es sei hier jedoch noch einmal ausdrücklich erwähnt, dass diese die Funktionsweise in keinster Weise stören, und, solange man ihn nicht anhebt und darunter sieht, noch nicht einmal sichtbar sind. Durch die gut erhaltenen Gummifüße berühren sie auch niemals die Standfläche.” Link

“I am selling this vintage analog Korg MS-10. I purchased it several months ago from a man who had sat it in his closet for the last 15 years. I took it to a professional synth technician and had it completely refurbished. He removed and cleaned each potentiometer, re-calibrated the oscillator, and cleaned all the 1/4-in jacks. It now sounds amazing; as good as the day it was born. Cosmetically, there are a few small scratches on the very top of the synthesizer, and some small amounts of rust are visible on the 1/4-in inputs on the patch bay. The technician sanded them down and they function fine; it’s purely a cosmetic blemish.
The bottom of this synthesizer had a good bit of rust when I purchased it, unfortunately. It was cleaned, but we stopped short of stripping the original finish, and so the bottom still looks a little rough, as you can see in the photo. However, it is again just a cosmetic problem and the structural integrity of the bottom of this synthesizer is excellent. ” Link

Außerdem besitzt er auf der Rückseite eine zusätzliche Buchse an der das Ausgangssignal anliegt.
Er ist in einem sehr guten Zustand, wurde letztes Jahr von einer Werkstatt in Berlin generalüberholt, 3 Potis wurden erneuert und der Kleine funktioniert perfekt und klingt schön fett.

This is a fantastic instrument but it’s been sitting idle in my studio for several years so its time to pass it along. The instrument works fine as far as I can tell, in that I’ve plugged it it and made a few tests. I tested the various waveforms, the filter, the envelope, the keyboard, modulation sources (including the wheel) but this should not by any means be considered any sort of professional assessment. But as far as I can tell all is well, but still sold as is, no returns.
Things to note: one of the previous owners had mounted a microphone on the top and you can see in the second picture the three holes drilled for it. This has not in any way impeded its functionality but I feel should be known. “Inzwischen sehr selten gewordenes Schätzchen der analogen Synthesizer-Ära. Gut erhalten. Alle Regler regeln und man kann ausgesprochen abgefahrene Klänge erzeugen (ob alles wie am ersten Tag funtioniert, kann ich aber nicht sagen, weil ich das kaum alles ausprobieren kann. Jedenfalls erzeugt es stimmstabil Töne, die man mannigfaltig verändern kann). Mit Steckfeld, ein Hort des Experimentierens. Ich experimentiere nicht mehr so viel und verlasse mich auf Sampleplayer und Sounds von CD, insofern brauche ich das gute Stück nicht mehr sooo nötig (habe ohnehin viel zuviel an Musikzeugs). Zum Herumstehenlassen ist es aber definitiv zu schade. Zumal die Techno-Fraktion längst ihre Liebe zu altem Equipment entdeckt hat. Kenner wissen ohnehin, was die Kiste kann, Nichtkenner können gerne das Netz konsultieren, es gibt einige Seiten, die die Funktionen und den Sound erklären.
Kann auch abgeholt werden, paßt aber auch in einen Karton zum Verschicken. Die Bedienungsanleitung habe ich nicht mehr, allerdings kann man auch spielerisch und intuitiv sich das gerät erschließen. Zudem sind Grundkenntnisse der synthetischen Klangerzeugung nicht unbedingt überflüssig.” Link

This is 100% functional, fully tested, patch bay and all, but may have some scratchy pots as is normal for older gear. I noticed only a little bit on the volume knob at first and cleaned up quickly with use.
Cosmetically it is a bit rough-see pics. Several scratches and chips in the paint, and some paint chipped off around the volume knob area. Many scratches on the back as well.
Also, there’s is a small crack in the plastic at the top of the pitch wheel, it’s just a straight crack on one side–see detail.
A very flexible cool little synth that has some nice tricks even missing from the MS-20, like externally modulatable Pulse Width Mod on the VCO.

“Verkaufe hier meinen Korg MS 10. Der Korg befindet sich in eienm traumhaft guten Zustand. Fast wäre ich geneigt ihn als neuwertig zu bezeichnen. Der MS 10 wurde nur ca. 10000mal gebaut!
Technisch habe ich ihn, soweit ich die Möglichkeit hatte, nochmals überprüft und konnte keinen Fehler feststellen. Auch die Potis faufen seidenweich, es handelt sich (jedenfalls in den letzten Jahren) um ein Nichtrauchergerät. Da ich das Gerät aber eh nur an Selbstabholer übergeben will, kann der Käufer natürlich bei der Abholung oder auch gerne vorher, alles in Ruhe nochmal überprüfen. Ich würde das Gerät nur sehr ungern versenden jedoch besteht natürlich auch diese Möglichkeit, dann gibt es aber kein Rückgaberecht und die Versandkosten sind vom Käufer zu tragen (max 12€ für den Versand). Sicher es gibt mitlerweile jede Menge Plugins oder Samples die den MS10 emulieren sollen.
