That includes: recap, calibration, the infamous ‘black gunk’ removed from every slider and pot (required desoldering every switch as well), tuned to concert tune, and the outputs modded from RCA to 1/4″. In addition, the pad was removed on the outs so it pumps out approx a +4 balanced signal instead of the quieter/noisier standard -10. Also includes original box in good shape! This thing is in excellent condition cosmetically. Studio ready! ” Link

usedmoogmg1 ” Used and working MG-1 vintage synthesizer. No missing parts, knobs, or sliders. Very good condition cosmetically. I received it over 10 years ago. I never opened or serviced it and do not know prior history. Only potential issue I am aware of that I just discovered while playing prior to listing is the Peak EMPH (resonance) pot may need to be replaced, could just be dirty, or I just didn’t have the right settings for it to have any effect. Just disclosing in case it’s an actual issue. I played it very little during my ownership.

It does have a toggle switch and 1/4″ output on the rear that I have not seen on many others. When plugging into the rear 1/4″ output, it seems to bypass the filter, play at full volume (master volume knob has no effect), and the toggle switch is a volume kill switch. Only functions this way when plugging into rear 1/4″ output and toggle switch has no effect when plugging into front 1/4″ output and master volume knob works. I am not sure if these were mods someone performed or optional features at the time as they look like standard features. ” Link

usedmg1 “For sale is a Realistic MG-1 (#1271), which is basically a Moog Rogue in disguise. Some people prefer the Rogue, some prefer the MG-1. Like a true synthhead you must obtain both. Purchased this from a friend who has no idea what the mod is and I don’t either. It seems to effect the modulation but I find it confusing. I’ve tried to find the mod on the Internet with no luck. Maybe you can figure it out. The mod is the two knobs and switch on the left side of the keybed, and I believe the input on the front of the synth. In addition to the mod 1/4″ port on the front, this synth has a quarter-inch main output, an aux in, and a quarter-inch for pitch and trigger (CV/GATE) all located on the rear of the synth. It does not have MIDI. The body is also in good condition considering its age.” Link

Input on front is at a slight angle but is still firmly in place and functions perfectly. ALL keys, switches and dials function perfectly with no extraneous noise. Everything was tested but the “Pitch”, “Trigger” and “Aux In”. “Aux Out” was tested with an external amplifier and it works perfectly. Please see pics provided.” Link

This synth is in amazing cosmetic condition for its age (early 80′s) showing no marks, dings, dents or scratches anywhere.

Unit powers on, rate light blinks from slow to fast. All faders and switches seem to function correctly.

I have neither the knowledge or equipment to test any further so it is being sold in as is condition as a collectible piece. ” Link

The keys are perfectly balanced and the wear is minimal. There are only light, barely visible surface marks on he chassis. This a local pickup as it is a consignment here at our brick and mortar shop. Two of the outputs have been removed. Come by and check it out!” Link

It has had the plastic side panels replaced with wood and it looks factory it is so well done. It has had an auxillary 1/4 inch jack added to the back so that other instruments can be plugged in. I don’t know where in the signal path it inserts at though. These synthesizers were made by Moog Music, I believe they were very similar to the Moog Rogue.” Link

The synth is used but in good shape.

The sliders are in good shape The synth shows some modest cosmetic wear and some cracks in the plastic but works fine.” Link

used-moog-mg-1 “I have replaced all of the sliders and switches on the panel. I have not replaced the rotary pots. All sliders have their original tops but some are missing the silver inset. 99% of the foam has been REMOVED. It’s almost impossible to get all of it out. I used a razor blade to scrape the inside of the panel to try and remove as much as I could. I used some thinner to remove debris where I scraped. The rotary pots have a little foam on then, I removed as much as I could within reason. I also cleaned the board with some iso-2 very carefully to remove foam and dirt. I did not remove a small amount of rosin solder flux since it’s not corrosive and non-conductive. This can be done without removing the board. I have not done any calibration on the system. The manual is free online and has the correct procedure for this task. The synth sounds fine as it is, so I don’t see any reason why it would need it right now. Pictures below show the progress of the restoration on 9/25/16.

I was employed as a solder-smith many years ago and have soldered thousands of parts, mainly Intel mainframes to mil spec. For the last 34 years I have been in the telephone business and have soldered hundreds (thousands?) of switches, relays, chips, etc. I have also built microphones professionally where soldering must be very precise. I used 60% leaded solder on this restoration because I think it looks and lasts longer.

Everything works well for a 36 year old synthesizer. There are some cosmetic issues and one base plate screw point is missing (I have the screw, but the plastic is missing) there is a key with a chip in it. A bent corner on base plate. There is some surface rust on the inside back of panel and around the jacks. This does not affect functionality.” Link

used-moog-mg1 ” This Moog MG-1 plays and sounds great.

Everything works and performs as it should with one exception.

Two of the lower F keys don’t register in poly mode.

Otherwise, everything else is perfect as an old analog can get.

I’ve isolated the problem to the M083B1 octave divider chip.

Once that chip is replaced the synth will be 100%.

One of the keys was repaired at some point.

I’m selling it As-is.

Buyer pays shipping of $50 in the lower 48.” Link

used-mg-1 “For sale AS-IS condition Vintage Moog Synthesizer. Makes synth noises except I heard no variation from the noise or bell tone sliders on the right. The output volume comes out and in, the sound from the keyboard detuned itself while holding down an individual note. Makes popping noises sometimes when a key is touched. Might need some capacitors replaced or something.

Includes a really good printed manual with schematics, pictures of the circuit board and lots of info on trouble shooting. Has an RCA to amplifier cord. Cosmetic condition notes, Missing 4 slider knobs, One switch paddle is broken off. Still works if you use a tool to move it, suitable replacement is included. Realistic on the front and rear have a slight purple tint where I removed marker that was obscuring the fact that this is a radio shack item. Took it apart and cleaned all the potentiometer sliders and knobs. No foam present, must have been removed in it’s past. This would be a great keyboard to add some modifications to, like hooking up a sequencer or making it work with a modular synth.” Link

mg-1 “Additionally, I did some work on this unti when I got it. I tuned the oscillators across the octave ranges to rectify the drift that occurs with vintage synths. Also, I added a 1/4″ audio out jack to the back of the synth. Consequently it has no headphone out, but it’s much easier to use in most circumstances now. Just plug into an amp and play.” Link
