I received this from a friend that rescued it from the dumpster at a school in western MA (as you can see by the pics). He tried to scrub off the paint (using who knows what) and made a mess, as you can see from the pics. I assure you this isn’t stolen! I got my Fender Rhodes this way. The cable that connects the keyboard to the suitcase amp was missing, the music director figured it was old and broken and I asked to have it before it got tossed. This old gear sits in a closet for years and someone comes along, doesn’t know what it is and throws it away. Anyways, I have no way to test this since I don’t have any synth modules that this would connect to. The tolex is in good shape (some of it got yucked up when he tried to remove the paint) and for WHATEVER reason, the keys are kinda yellowed EXCEPT for the D’s. I scrubbed them up a little bit with some household cleaner, but I’m sure you could have them looking better. The knobs and switches feel good. According to the sticker this was made in 1975, so it’s in pretty good shape considering the age, but it also probably spent it’s whole life at a school, not getting stabbed by Keith Emerson.

Again this is a controller, it is not midi, it will not create it’s own sounds.” Link

I bought this a couple of months ago from an unscrupulous/ignorant Ebayer that claimed it was working 100%. It’s not. I’d say about 70%. Anyway, here’s what I’ve found to be wrong with it: Oscillator 2 does not seem to be functional. Not sure why – no sound when that fader is turned up. OSC 1 and the polyphony OSC work fine. The other functions seem to operate as they should. The ’sample and hold’ style modulation is particularly nice especially with the polyphony going. Tuning is not super stable, but it seems to stay in tune for the most part, especially once it warms up. Physical condition is overall very nice with a few very minor scuffs. I’m sure someone out there can get this little guy going again, but that guy ain’t me.” Link

I bought this one in 1982 but it has been collecting dust for quite a while now so I decided to fianally part with it.

First of all, I cleaned it up a bit today, plugged it in, and it works! But there are a few things in need of repair which I will detail for you.

Six keys are not working. There are some knobs missing but all the sliders and levers seem to work except for the detune slider on Tone 2.

It needs a thorough cleaning internaly along with all the sliders, levers and pots. I believe a competent technician can repair this unit so that it’s fully functional. At the very least, lots of working parts can be harvested for repairing other Moogs.” Link

The Moog Source is a monophonic analog synthesizer manufactured in New York USA in 1981. It has two real VCO ! A programmable arpeggiator, a sequencer, a 24 db/octave filter with cutoff, Res, two ADSR envelope , A LFO, cv / gate input …
The Moog Source has 16 memory locations, in fact it is the first MOOG to integrate patch memory storage !
The sound of the Source is really MOOG, the sound is very close to a Minimoog Model D despite an oscillator in less. The sound is very thick. The arpeggiator is also quite interesting, because programmable leaving the basic UP and Down patterns style … The Moog Source is currently used by the group ”Air” on their album and 2010 tour. Bands like Depeche Mode, Will I.Am of Black Eyed Peas, Clark (warp records) also use the MOOG SOURCE…The Moog Source sell here is in good cosmetic condition with just some scruff on the metal, but you see it a lot more on the pictures than in reality. - Die Tastatur Druckempfindlichkeit geht auch nur sehr, sehr schwach.

Ich empfehle das Gerät mal überholen zu lassen.

This was made in 1980 by Moog in the USA, runs on 240v and was customised by one of the world’s best last year….. If you’re a collector – or a musician with passion – you’ll want this one. So read on.

Just testing the water here as I really don’t want to sell this but if there is enough interest I will! Some of the photos shown here were taken by Jeff at Customsynth uk when it was being customised last year and the others were taken by me this week.

If anyone is interested in this fully serviced and customised Cream and Gold MOOG Liberation with Power Supply MOOG rack module, 50 foot connecting cable, very thick white leather posing/playing strap (shown rolled up in picture 10 and of course seen attached to the keyboard in pix 1 and 2) and custom made flight case – foam lined and red outside and it fits the power supply as well under the keyboard – this is the auction for you! It’s all ready to go – just add amplification – so you can start posing in front of that mirror immediately! It is definitely collection only from Hove, near Brighton in the UK and even in if you live in the US or Australia you’d be mad to ask me to risk this unique item on a courier (so don’t ask as I won’t do it) and have a holiday in the UK!

When did you last see a custom Moog Liberation on ebay? When did you last see a Moog Liberation on ebay available to UK buyers rather than just in the US – period!? It is in perfect working/sonic condition and excellent cosmetic condition, having only been customised exactly one year ago. This was serviced by James Walker at Synth Restore and then Customised by Jeff Toman at Custom Synth in Devon, UK last June/July – 2009. I’ve just been in touch with Jeff and he is sending me a small pot of the paint he used so if it ever needs any touching up in future (it’s a wooden body underneath – remember wood!?) you will have the right match. By the way if you look closely at the pix you will see Jeff has added his own little quirk by calling oscillators one and oscillator two both oscillator one – this is deliberate and is best seen in the fourth photo. If the winner really wants that one letter/number changed from 1 to 2 he is happy to do it for you but you will need to get it to him yourself in Devon after you’ve got it from me! This it is collection only from Hove near Brighton – a great place for a weekend away – and cash on collection, cleared cheque or bank transfer preferably but Paypal is possible. It’s for collection as I can just lift the flight case with the Moog inside (and I’m six foot tall and fairly strong!) so there’s no way a courier is getting their hands on it!! Buy it now is set to see what offers you want to make – but the price isn’t that crazy looking at what people are charging for synths at present which are nowhere near as rare – or exciting. So questions and offers please. For those that are interested the ebay fees alone on this one are almost £100. Paypal will easily double those fees so do contact me if you want to use Paypal before pressing that button” Link

It has the classic “Moog sound” even with only 2 oscillators.
There are some things that a full-blown MiniMog does not even have:

Oscillator Sync – imparts a very unique timbre.

A dedicated Modulation source – in general, one uses Oscillator 3 on a Mini
as the source for modulation, so on the Prodigy you don’t sacfifice an
Oscillator just for this.

NOTE: Interface jacks ca be installed fairly easily by anyone familiar with
rudimentary electronics – I have the instructions including some hand drawn diagrams.
I just never felt the need to do this, as I have a couple other Moogs with interfacing.

I would call this in pretty good condition.
It’s the same as when I bought it about 15 years ago.
It appears something has been spilled on one of the end panels, but it does
not seem to have affected the functionality at all – everything works fine.
This one has a lighter colour wood than most of the ones I have seen.
The keys are all sitting nice and flat – no “buckteeth” on this.

PLEASE NOTE: One pot shaft is broken – it’s the OSCILLATOR 1 mixer level pot.
The knob is intact – this is how I received it about 15 years ago.
It will of course be included [removed and placed in a bag to prevent loss
during shipping].
There are possible sources for a replacement pot – I just never bothered.
Instead I pushed a metal sleeve over the broken shaft and then push the
knob onto the sleeve – works fine, but you do need to be careful that
the knob does not fall off and get lost – I only ever used this in a studio
so it never left the room.” Link

If you’re not familiar with the Opus, it’s basically Moog Music’s version of an ‘orchestra’ synthesizer, having separate String, Brass, and Organ sections. It uses divide-down technology, which makes it basically ‘allophonic’ in that all keys can be simultaneously played. There’s a classic Moog filter which the Brass and Organ sections can be run through, and an analog Chorus section which the Strings and Organ can be run through. There’s also a triangle LFO for modulation of the oscillators or the filter, a pitch wheel, and an ‘articulator’ (basically the output VCA).

All keys, sliders, and switches work cleanly and clearly. There is a bit of scratchiness in the main volume pot, but it seems to get less the more I work it; the other pots are clear. I’ve checked out all the functions and everything works correctly per the Field Walkthrough in the Service Manual.

I’ve performed the following maintenance/improvements:

    * Cleaned out the horrible foam that destroys the sliders
* Replaced all the sliders and switches with new ones from Technology Transplant (a $150 value, just for the parts)
* Recapped the electrolytics on the panel board and the power supply

I’ve also made several modifications to this unit; most of these are very basic but very useful:

    * Expanded the range of the LFO, from very slow (~ 0.1Hz) to audio range (>30 Hz)
* Added an audio input to the VCF
* Added an audio input to the Chorus circuit
* Added a ‘GATE IN’ jack (triggerable by voltage > 2V)
* Replaced the slider caps with Arp-like, color-coded rubber nips (I still have all the old slider caps, and I’ll include them with the shipped unit)

I’ve always thought that the Opus had one of the better implementations of the Moog filter and this unit allows an external input to be run through it while being triggered from an external gate. Feeding a sound into the analog Chorus can certainly add richness and shimmer. And, credit where credit is due: the modifications that I’ve made were inspired by a Moog Opus-3 that was ebay’ed several years ago by a well-known Moog synth technician. Note that he did not make the modifications to this unit – I did – but he should get credit for the ideas!

Now for the bad news. There’s a cosmetic flaw in that the front panel sticker on this unit is fraying in the upper corners (see the pictures). It’s not a progressing problem, as it’s been like that since I got the unit 4 years ago and it never bothered me.

The Owner’s and Service Manuals are available freely on the web. I will include an IEC power cord with the synth” Link

Up for auction is my Moog Micromoog analog synth. This is a single OSC synth, but don’t let those words fool you… This is the biggest sounding, fattest single osc synth I have ever owned. It also has a dedicated know to add a SUB OSC sort of sound with an octave down all the way clockwise and sounds like two octaves down all the way counter clockwise. That knob is called DOUBLING on the top panel. The LFO section is pretty amazing as well with SIX!!!! Yes SIX Mod Sources Including Sample and Hold. The low end on this synth is lush, deep and huge but some pretty wicked leads are easily handled by this synth. As if these things were not enough, here’s the best part… the filter. It can sound clean and creamy and get granley, mean, and be the bully of any other analog synth you own. Indeed. There three different modes for the filter… all adjustable via the Three Mode Selector switch on the top panel. I often use the filter input on the back panel to drive guitars, vocals, drums, and other weaker synths through the heart of this Micromoog. I own a minimoog, Roland SH5, Obie OBXA and a TVS, Korg MS20 and several other synths… NOTHING sounds like this synth. The Micro and the Multimoog have a sound totally unique to the Moog Brand as well as being unique to any other analog synth out there. That’s a fact. I’ve owned this synth for 5 years. Every knob and switch work great, the Mod wheel and Ribbon cable all work great. The cosmetics are very very good, all the keys trigger and they do NOT re-trigger like older mistreated synth can exhibit. The pitch is very solid. Give this synth 2-3 minutes to warm up and it’s solid on pitch for the duration. That’s pretty remarkable for a synth of this age. There are s few keys the feel a little stiff or clicky, but they still play and trigger just fine. I’ve played fast leads and basses on this keybed and it never hindered my performance. I just want to be clear of all the condition on this synth for you, the potential buyer. I am REALLY going to miss this synth, but I just bought a MacBeth massive analog synth that has put my pocketbook in quite a bind. This money will help me pay that bad boy off. ” Link

“This one is in excellent condition and working 100%. It has been serviced by Kevin Lightner and needs nothing. There are some small imperfections here and there, but check out the photos and judge the condition for yourself. As you can see, this is an early “muSonics” Minimoog (serial # 1256) which are rarely seen. I believe this one was made late in 1971. These early models are a bit different than those made later; Metal face with incremental graphics, walnut cabinet, squared back panel, clear pitch/mod wheels, no voltage selection like later units, older oscillator card (RA Moog stamp), and a few other things.
I kept the original “lamp style” power cord on it as it’s still in great shape and I wanted to keep this one as original as I could. This Minimoog will come with a newly foamed road case to help insure it’s condition.
Cosmetically- The original walnut cabinet and black bottom cover was restored by Analogics and as always Wes did a great job. Especially for a cabinet that’s nearly 40 years old. It has a new set of knobs (from the original company that supplied them early on), a new set of keys, a re-anodized back panel, new Switchcraft washers & nuts, many new screws throughout, and the fuse holder caps have been replaced.

Internally- Apart from any repairs, it has been disassembled and cleaned, new electrolytic capacitors (all boards/rectifier board, power supply), all jacks, switches, potentiometers, trims, modulation section connectors, and edge card connectors cleaned, inspected and resoldered PCB solder connections, tightened power transformer mounting, tightened heatsinks on power supply board, nuts tightened on all selector switches and pots. Keyboard disassembled, key contacts cleaned, bussbar polished, new key bushings (action feels great), keyboard leveled, and the synth has been fully calibrated.” Link

There are only a few minor scrapes to the cloth and some minor places where the cloth could be re-glued. See additional photos link below for more. On the right side of the keyboard there is a small hole in the cloth and the area there needs to be re-glued in general(the cloth). I didn’t want to attempt any repairs to the cloth as I assumed that it may depreciate the value. Some MOOG historian probably knows exactly what glue was used and this process should obviously be duplicated for maximum future use and value as this is an extremely rare keyboard. Some minor lifting of the fabric and a couple of small holes that appear over all and in general to be way less than normal wear and tear. This does not look like a “played” keyboard and the keys don’t feel like that either. It looks more like something that was played lightly and then just left alone and forgotten about for many years. I only gave it a basic wipe for dust and a gentle cleaning with a compressed air gun afterward to remove any fibers from the cloth. The air gun was on low pressure and has a water separator valve so there was no chance of moisture etc. I took great care in prepping this keyboard. The only liberty that I took was to bend back the lock on one side of the case as it was not flat as it needs to be to lock for transporting. It was bent over in a “J” shape and well the case would never lock like that. You can see where I did this but it looks pretty solid and now the case locks as per normal. All the potentiometers, switches and keys are free and move very well. No Pepsi Syndrome here! The case cover has all 8 stock rubber feet intact! You should just be able to plug this baby right in to your synth modules and rock and roll but this is being sold as is where is only unless you can bring your synth modules here to test. I am not a keyboard player and have absolutely no need for this. I had a pretty good idea how valuable this particular keyboard was when I saw it in a lot that I bought and that is why I bought it. Again, if you do happen to have a MOOG synth and are anywhere near Andover, Ma please contact me and I would be happy to let you hook it up as long as you bring stock MOOG modules and not some custom thing that may damage the keyboard. Please don’t wait until the last 24 hours of the auction end to ask if you can come by. ” Link

This Memory Moog has a very fast and stable Kenton Midi Kit, not a sloppy original Memory Moog Plus MIDI. MIDI retrofit is beautifully done by the same tech. Kenton Midi Manual and Hard Case is included. Scratches on the side wood panels. Very clean.” Link

Moog “The Rogue” synthesizer in great condition. Kept in storage case for most of the last 25 years! Includes original power supply and original 32 page owners manual! It has no visible wear, no cracked keys, and no rust! Everything seems to be in good working condition, but I am no expert on the matter. I have owned this synth for years and it has hardly been used any except for some recording. I don’t think you will find a nicer one anywhere for the year model. I will also include the storage case “suitcase” it has been kept in, as they seem to need each other! Thanks for looking and bidding!” Link

Who on earth offers 40 day warranties on analog synths like this, well the answer is, we do!

More about the warranty a bit later but now for the synth, this has an organ, a brass section and a synth section. Some of the sounds you can get out of this are just so lush and warm and the different sections can be mixed together or separated. The organ section is ok but I love the synth section with its warm fat beautiful sounds. You can get some great lush pads and strings out of this synth. Polyphonic synths are really now at a premium because monosynths are going through the roof. This is an affordable option and is polyphonic so grab it while it is here for the taking. There is a VCF, VCA with ADSR control, LFO and various controls for wave shapes for the VCO. If you want to know more about this brilliant synth check out vintagesynth.com.

This does not have midi so please understand that. There are midi kits available for it.

The metal work and the printing are absolutely excellent on this example and the keyboard plays really nicely.” Link

“Here we have an incredibly rare Polymoog. These hardly ever come up and this is a rare classic. There are one or two people in the U.K who have loads of these things stored away which is why, essentially, there are not many of these in circulation. I thought it would be nice therefore to release one into the sales arena to give you guys a chance of owning one. It’s the only one I have and I don’t want to hog them as some do.

This one functionally is top notch and functioning absolutely perfectly. It has been recently overhauled and serviced by a top U.K service engineer.

This is the model 203a version and NOT the 280. So this is called the synthesiser. It has keyboard written on it. The reason I believe to be the case is that Moog named this the Polymoog keyboard when it was built pre-1978. They then launched the model 280 post 1978 which became the keyboard. This version was then renamed the synthesiser.

To be absolutely fair, some people and purists prefer the newer keyboard model 280 version because of its abilities to replicate the famous Garry Newman sound but this model 203a selling here isn’t a million miles away from replicating the same sound, it just isn’t quite as easy to do so.

Everything you need to know about this synth if you aren’t sure about it should be found on vintagesynth.

Cosmetically, to be absolutely honest, this is not fantastic. Its ok, you know pretty good for its age kind of stuff but it would be very wrong to suggest it was excellent or mint, it is good, probably not even very good, just good or maybe fair. I hope I have been reasonable in spelling this out.” Link

I say sadly ‘cos I need the money to fix my shitty life and it’s just difficult to let go. As far as I know, I’m the third owner. The first being a Christian church of some kind. Can you imagine that in a service? Godly! The next owners were a band called \m/ The Angel Butchers \m/. How crazy is that? And finally I bought it from them and now here it is.

“This listing is for a Moog Opus 3 vintage analog synthesizer. The unit is 100% functional and in good cosmetic shape as well. I just it completely serviced and it works great. Sliders are in good shape as well and not all gunked up like most Opus’s.” Link
