Minimoog, Moog @ 30 January 2012, “No Comments”

“A unique opportunity to own a piece of Rock history! This Minimoog was one of the earliest ones owned by Keith Emerson (26 June 1973 date on keyboard) and he had the keyboard and electronics separated so that it could be used in his stage setup. Basically the keyboard was set up to slide into place when required while the electronics section remained out of the way. Please read the details below about how I ended up getting it in 1992 and look at the pictures. I have included some pictures taken in 1992 when I got the synth as well as some archive pictures of Keith and the Minimoog on stage.

THE STORY

In the early 90s I did a lot of work on analogue synths working for a number of well known bands as well as building my own analogue synth called “The Aviator”. It was basically a hobby for me. Please Google Tony Wride and Exclusively Analogue to find out more. You can ignore all the flying related stuff associated with my job!

In 1992 I was doing some work for Vince Clarke of Erasure prior to their Abbaesque tour and went to a rehearsal studio at Brent Cross in North London. Next door to the Erasure studio was another band rehearsing for their tour and it turned out to be ELP preparing for the “Black Moon” Tour! Keith had been one of my keyboard heroes and I never ever thought I would get the chance to meet him let alone see him rehearsing. I met Will Alexander, who was Keith’s technician, and got talking about the famous big Moog which they planned to take on tour. “We would like to get it fitted with MIDI” said Will and I then suggested fitting a Kenton MIDI retrofit for a MiniMoog which is what I ended up doing! (See the pictures). Whilst working on the Modular I talked to Keith and Will about the gear they were going to use on tour and Will said “We need another SE1 (Basically a Minimoog in a rack with MIDI) to go in the rack but the dealer said they can’t get one in time”. It just so happened that I had just traded a mint condition Minimoog for an SE1 with a studio in London so sitting in the back of my car was an SE1! When I said to Will that I could get them an SE1 for the tour he asked “How soon?” “How does 3 minutes sound?” I said. Talk about coincidence!!

Keith ended up with my SE1 for the tour but I was now Minimoogless. Fortunately sitting in amongst a collection of unused ELP gear was the electronics section of a Minimoog looking in a very sorry state. I asked Will what had happened and what was happening to the remains of the Minimoog. “It’s one of Keith’s early MiniMoogs that had the keyboard separated from it so that it could be mounted on the Hammond. It doesn’t work and the keyboard is in storage.” We ended up agreeing to me having the non working “split” Minimoog as part of the deal for the SE1 on an understanding that they would send me the keyboard in the future.

I took the electronics section home and refurbished it so that it was working, without the keyboard, and on my last visit to the rehearsal studio showed Keith and Will the much improved condition Minimoog. Keith very kindly signed the back of the electronics section for me (see photos) and in 1995 I finally got the keyboard section when Keith’s unwanted gear was taken out of storage to be sold. In the article Keith mentions the ‘Split’ Minimoog; http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/1995_articles/may95/keithemerson.html

Sound on Sound May 1995 Keith Emerson quote:

• MINIMOOG (1970)

“I had one of my Minimoogs split because it was the only way to make certain musical arrangements possible. The keyboard could be divorced from the more bulky electronics by several metres, so I could mount it in places the complete synth simply wouldn’t go. On the other hand, the use of the ribbon controller was far less pragmatic — it was pure showmanship.”

So that’s how I ended up with this very unique instrument back in 1992 and for the past 20 years I have kept it safely stored bringing out every so often to enjoy the rich Moog sound.

THE “SPLIT” MINIMOOG.

The keyboard section is basically the front half of a standard MiniMoog but the electronics section has been built into a plywood ‘box’. As you can see from the photographs the keyboard is linked to the electronics via a long cable and’d’ type connector. Apparently there was another longer intermediate cable, to increase the separation distance if required, but I don’t have this. The Minimoog also has some other modifications that were done to it for Keith but they don’t seem to be connected and I have not been able to work out what they are for! On the keyboard ‘bender’ panel there are 2 red LEDs and a small toggle switch linked to a ribbon cable. Obviously this was for something that Keith needed on stage but I haven’t been able to work out what. The Electronics section has the ‘mains’ supplied via a DIN style jackplug and there appears to be a balanced output socket added.

All the ‘normal’ MiniMoog bits work as they should and I have just done a complete calibration on it. Note that this has the early ‘richer’ sounding Oscillators rather than the later clinical ones!

It has taken a lot for me to decide to sell this Minimoog but a change in personal circumstances means I will be making a major change to my life and lots of things have to go. However, I’m not going to let this very unique instrument go for a stupidly low price, I’d rather keep it, so please don’t send me questions about accepting a lower price.” Link

“Up for grabs is my beautiful MOOG MINIMOOG Model D analogue synthesizer. Everything in this unit is original. From the knobs and inserts down to the grey power cord. And most importantly it has been fully serviced by an Ex-ARP technician to original specifications. I bought it directly from him. Every button, key, and knob works properly and the resulting sound is absolutely breathtaking, plus you also have an external input to pass any other signal thru the famous moog filter.

The front panel is in pristine condition, as is the aluminum casing. The only detail worth noticing are in the refinished wood casing: the top of the control panel is missing the wood trim, also the front corners are rounded out which just gives it a little more character. Also the power cable is neatly re-soldered close to the plug. I will include the paperwork I received with it which includes schematics and a copy of the technical service manual.” Link

“I purchased this Minimoog from a professional back-line rental company here in Chicago about 2 years ago, it has been professionally owned and well maintained. The Minimoog has definitely seen it’s fair share of use, also used and rented by many famous artists.

Works flawlessly!

I purchased the mini to finish up my band’s new record, we no longer need it! I hate to see her go…

Serial# 10742 (a little hard to read)

Includes original manual, road-case (new foam!), and a new S-trigger cable!

You won’t be disappointed, this is the REAL DEAL.” Link

“One of the original Mini Moog Model Ds with an upgraded stabilized oscillator board. Notice the R.A. Moog nameplate.

Sounds and works great!

I bought it used in the late 1970s. An upgraded stabilized oscillator board was installed in 1981. I just had it cleaned and serviced and it sounds incredible! Looks beautiful too. ” Link

“This extremely rare R.A.Moog Minimoog has the serial number 1009, but since they started with #1001 it is actually the 9th one ever produced! It is one of the oldest surviving Mini’s and almost certainly the oldest one on the planet for sale. This makes it highly collectable, not unlike very early vintage Gibson or Fender guitars with low serial numbers. It should be a great investment that will increase in value over time. Obviously, it’s worth a lot more than an ordinary Minimoog, and even an ordinary one is still a valuable vintage synth. This is in a different class though- it’s almost like a prototype of a Minimoog; from what I’ve read in various sources, Dr. Moog was still tinkering with the design for the first dozen or so instruments before putting them into full scale mass production, so each of the these very first ones may be slightly different. It has several immediately apparent differences from later serial numbers, including:
1.) The R.A. Moog faceplate, from the era when he was personally helping assembling his synths, as opposed to the Moog Music faceplate.
2.) An engraved front panel, like the ones used on his modular systems.
3.) More detailed calibration markings around the knobs in the envelope section.
4.) Toggle switches used for glide and decay instead of rocker switches..
5.) Clear plexiglass pitch and mod wheels instead of white plastic ones.
6.) Slightly fancier wood case.
7.) Made in Trumansburg, New York, site of the first of his 3 factories.
In addition, there are some internal differences that are not as immediately recognizable as the outside cosmetic ones, including killer oscillators that are more similar to the 901′s he used on his modular machines. It sounds awesome!
This synth has just been completely restored and fully serviced by EARS / The Analog Lab, New York City’s premier repair shop specializing in vintage synths. It is 100% functional electronically, and in excellent condition cosmetically, as you can see from the photos. The tech who worked on this Jeff Blickensopp has over 40 years of experience with Moogs (as well as a degree in electrical engineering and a stint as Pink Floyd’s head tech) and they are an authorized Moog repair center who stand behind their work. They are excellent- I’ve used them for all my repairs for years. Jeff has completely cleaned and re-calibrated the unit, so the tuning is as stable as possible on a Minimoog. So this is not your typical restoration project you find on ebay- it has already been restored- i just paid a great deal of money to have it done-the repair receipt will be avaiiable to to the winning bidder if you want it as proof!” Link

“This is a Mini Moog Model D Serial #8330. I purchased this unit new in 1978. I am the original, and only, owner. I gigged with it from 1978 until 1981… at which time I put it in my smoke-free studio and it never moved. This unit is in 100% working condition except that the power light indicator is burned out. Not sure if it can be replaced, but it obviously has absolutely no bearing on the sound. In addition, it has the CV Foot Controller Model 1120. The Pedal does not need an AC Adapter as it can run on a 9V Battery. I do not have the adapter… never needed it. Besides, those things are a pain in the ****.

This unit has 2 custom modifications. The first one is a sync switch that syncs the #2 Oscillator to the #1 Oscillator. This can give you some very unique sounds as you sweep through the harmonics. Gives you some nice overtones that you can’t get otherwise. The second one is very simple. It’s a “stop” that I had put in the Pitch Wheel. It is actually a very tiny screw that is put in the pitch wheel itself underneath the casing that keeps it from over-shooting when I really “jumped” on it. I had it put at the interval of a Minor 3rd. This is very simple to remove if you do not like it. Just unscrew the 2 screws holding the wheel block in place and remove the small screw in the Pitch Wheel… easy peazy.

It also has a custom built case. It’s not a soft case and it’s not an Anvil. It’s a custom case somewhere in between. It’s fine for taking to and from a gig if you plan to gig with it. But it is not suitable for air transport.

As you can see from the photos, this thing is almost mint, cosmetically. It does have some wear marks on the right end of it where I had a mixer next to it on the gig that rubbed it some. Otherwise, a few very small scratches that are barely noticeable. In a couple of photos, it looks like there is some damage to the wood casing at the top of the unit, when it fact there is none. It’s simply the light hitting it and emphasizing grain. You can see in the other photos that there is very little to no damage to this unit… other than the right end piece that I mentioned.” Link

“This is a mini moog model D serial # 8692. It sat unused for a long time. I recently had it in Danny’s Amp repair in NJ. Danny really knows these things He tested it, cleaned it up and put it in great working condition. The wood finish has some dings and a few scratches but it looks very clean. Only thing that keeps it from being perfect is that the external input jack is not working but it doesn’t effect its sound at all.

Collectors consider model D as the best and fattest sounding of all versions of the Mini.

The old osc board versions like this one are warm, fat, silky, raw… and newer osc board versions have a lack of warmth and human feeling and sound thinner.” Link

“Minimoog
Seriennummer T 2706 E

Link

“You are bidding on a very clean Vintage Minimoog Model D. Many of these come refinished or scratches all over the wood. This one is very clean and I took mulitple shots/angles to show this. The keys are perfectly level. Minimial scratching/wear – just light from normal use. All pots are clean – 2 of the knobs are missing the silver decorative piece although they still work perfectly. (Replacement knobs are selling on ebay for 14.99 if it bothers you.)

This is also a fairly early serial number – 2652 . The previous owner was Producer Scott Cutler. Between him and myself, we have both taken immaculate care of this unit. ” Link

“This is a no reserve auction. You are bidding on a great vintage moog minimoog Synthetizer from the 1970′s. It is fresh out of a musician estate and sounds amazing. We are not music or electronic experts but all functions seem to be working properly when tested. Please keep in mind this piece is over 30 years old and may need a tune up or to be serviced. It is in good cosmetic condition as well with some light wear and a bit of dust here and there. Overall this is a great estate find offered with no reserve. It comes with the original owners manual.” Link

“Excelled condition vintage moog Micromoog analog monosynth.
100% working, 100% in tune, 100% moog phattness!
Oscillator doubling: 1 or 2 octave:: adds a sub wave to your oscillator. Constant wave shaping on the oscillator from triangle to saw to square.
The filter is amazing. It even has an input.
It’s resonance is wet and dirty with osc mod to the filter. Ear candy
Only a Minimoog can come close to the sound it makes. except the Micromoog has modulation routings with an LFO.

It’s a scaled down mini, but with further mods..making it pretty sweet. It’s really light to carry and it stays in tune better.” Link

“For your consideration is this vintage 1974 Moog Minimoog Model D synthesizer by Moog Music. This somewhat early production Minimoog, serial number 4932, is in very good cosmetic shape, and perfect working condition. It was recently completely serviced to be studio ready and it includes a vintage Anvil flight case. Take advantage of this very incredible No Reserve/$.01 Minimum listing, as the highest bidder will win… regardless of price.

This particular example displays a final inspection tag dated “6/14/74.” All keys, rocker switches, knobs/dials, and lights works flawlessly. While producing famously rich texture and grit, this synth also exhibits pronounced clarity and presence: above and beyond that of most. Resultantly, this example is well-balanced, strong, full-range, and perfect for recording, sampling, etc. The cabinet is in very well-reserved condition, with expected scratches and dings. The control panel is perfect, as are the keys. The bottom is in good shape, although the rubber feet are missing. ” Link

“A very rare opportunity to own a very early minimoog discrete triple oscillator board.

This PCB is serial number 1033, meaning this is from the 33rd minimoog. (excluding prototypes of course)

The pot date codes on the board date from 1969.

As far as I know there have been absolutely no modifications done to this board.

I have not tested this board in a minimoog, so it is being sold as is.

I acquired this PCB from an old 70′s authorized moog repair shop, and believe this board being removed was the result of the fairly common,
vco “upgrade” which consisted of replacing the old discrete vco board with the new “stable” board.” Link

“Ugly but 100% working and great-sounding minimoog FS. I installed new Arcsound bushings, so the keyboard feels great. The power cord has been replaced. Cosmetically it is not so nice. There is a pretty large scratch in the wood that you can see in the photos, and the plastic layer over the control panel is lifting/wrinkled in significant areas of the panel as seen in the photos.

It is a 4XXX S/N, with the updated oscillator board having been installed at a later time, so it is very well in tune. It has the plastic overlay on the back that was installed with the new oscillator board, which labels the trimpot holes for tuning. It has plain looking brown wood, so it is later than the early walnut models. Also there is a section of the thin wood near the mod wheels that has been chipped off. The filter cutoff pot is the slightest bit scratchy at the low end. All other switches and knobs work well, although sometimes need a bit of wiggling. It’s the usual for a mini this old. ” Link

“I am selling my vintage, 1973 Minimoog Model-D. The instrument is in very good condition, especially when considering it is now almost 40 years old, and everything works as it should, giving you that instant classic Moog sound. It has some minor wear and tear, particularly to the black faceplate coating, but it is entirely consistent with it’s age and only enhances the cosmetic character of this beautiful instrument

This machine was very much designed to be played but it also had enough capabilities to create a wide variety of sounds from deep, growling basses to screeching leads and a whole lot in between and all of which sounding as superb today as they did 40 years ago. In fact, in the modern digital world, I’d say my Minimoog sounds better now than in it’s youth and despite all the technology these days and the accuracy in modelling techniques, there is no comparison to the real thing.

I do not really need to sell this Moog but I already own a Memorymoog and therefore my mini has been rendered a little obsolete. However, I would even keep it just as studio furniture if it made sense to, simply because I think it is such a beautiful machine, in its solid wood case and with those chunky dials. Minimoogs just have an immense presence about them in every way; people’s eyes just seem drawn towards them; to the touch they have a feel of true class, their knobs and switches move with a satisfying sense of purpose and the entire instrument has a real weight to it.

And that applies to the sound too, it’s heavy and has instant impact. There is nothing thin or weedy about a Moog. Turn a knob and you immediately hear it’s effect coming through the speakers and it is that simplicity and tangibility combined with the sheer power and quality in it’s sound that made so many people fall in love with them. I’m certainly in love with mine. In my opinion, anyone who enthuses over synthesisers simply has to have owned a Minimoog at some point in their lives.

This one is a Moog Music Inc version, serial # 3650. It is one of the early Minimoogs of this type, having been completed on 6th December 1973, and that means it has the original, slightly fatter VCOs that gave the synth it’s unique, famous sound, as opposed to the later builds (those with a serial # 10175 upward)

Despite its age it still has the original, bakelite dials. Every Minimoog was built with bakelite dials but they are easily broken and would be replaced with the cheaper plastic dials that Moog used on other synths such as the Micromoog. There is a couple blemishes on the black face-plate, shown in the picture (no.2) just above where it says “Controllers”" Link

“MINIMOOG MODEL D, Baujahr. 1973, Seriennr. Link

“Here we have a very nice 1977 Minimoog Model D. As you can see from the photos it is in excellent cosmetic condition. It also functions perfectly with NO ISSUES. The previous owner only used it in his home and studio, and it shows! I always keep my gear in a clean, climate-controlled environment and go to great lengths to take care of it.

It functions perfectly and is all original except the mod/pitch wheels were changed to clear like the older R.A Moog and MuSonics machines. It has recently been serviced. Every inch has been gone over by my tech. Cosmetically it looks great with small signs of wear. It has a few wax pencil marks on the face that can easily be removed, it has a few small nicks and scratches but overall looks great.

If you have been looking for a Mini this is definitely “a good one” and I feel you will be happy with your purchase. The Mini is pure enjoyment to play and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves synths and does not have one yet. If you are a midi only musician or would rather enter data into a step sequencer than touch a keyboard, don’t worry! There are plenty of inexpensive, great options to get your new Mini connected. ” Link

“Selling my Minimoog model D in excellent condition. It is being sold at a premium price, but you’ll get what you pay for.

Cosmetically it’s in very good condition, I’d say a 9/10 and I’m usually picky with these things. The wood cabinet has a nick on the left side panel (see pics) and some faint scuff marks on the top panel but apart from that it’s in beautiful condition.

Functionally it’s in excellent condition. This mini was a backup unit in a pro studio and has been kept in storage for most of its time. The keys are all leveled and feel as new. All key bushings are in great condition as well. It has one of the fastest and smoothest actions I’ve ever experienced on a synth. Plays great!

No scratchy pots, all switches work great, mod and pitch wheel work fine as well. All oscillators sound and track perfectly.

This mini has the older osc board with the fatter oscillators as well. They sound fantastic and purr like nothing else. If you’ve been looking for a mini in good condition that is ready to be used in your productions, you won’t be disappointed with this one. I know the asking price is higher than what other minis usually go for, but this one is in excellent shape and there are probably not that many left in this condition.” Link

“You’re bidding on possibly the rarest Minimoog ever offered on ebay. This has a beautiful wood cabinet, the original type control panel made of metal not silk screened plastic. Original front main control panel switches and knobs. R.A. Moog nameplate on this earliest offering of the model D by Moog. On the left you’ll notice the Pitch Wheel / Mod Wheels are clear and the layout is like the Model D prototype seen elsewhere on the web and on the little bit newer muSonics Minimoogs. Serial Number is 1134 and I understand from reading elsewhere on the web that Moog started the numbering at 1001 making this unit the 134th Minimoog. (The very first Model D (R.A.) Minimoog is in a keyboard museum viewable on the web). The toggle switches on the Pitch/Mod Wheels section are replacements of the failed originals but of the same type that came with my Mini. Unfortunately there are a few radio station stickers on the control box…Kids (Actually me when I was young). S-Trig plug on top back of case was replaced by a modern toggle for easy choice of external instrument without using a foot switch. Notice the holes where I had once added a 10 band EQ on the top where the output jacks were. This is an abomination to some, I know. For me, it was an upgrade. No functional disadvantage. This was added to make the keyboard volume level consistent. All Mini’s have 2 keyboard switches to help compensate for this, but not too well. The EQ was positioned toward the front. If the chosen sound was quieter on the right, I moved the sliders (High Frequencies) up on the right. Vice versa for the low frequencies. I still have the EQ the final buyer wants it. Originally a guitar effect. Notice wood below on the back of the case was notched out for the EQ to fit when back was closed. Close up of serial number sticker is provided. Notice the 3rd photo showing the 2nd ‘F’ note from the left has a broken piece of plastic underneath. This does not effect the playability of the note nor is it readily noticeable when playing it. Only visible from directly in front of the unit. This R.A. Moog Minimoog has the original type circuit boards and has amazing sounds heard nowhere else. As mentioned earlier in this description, the control panel has all original switches and knobs including potentiometers. These switches and pots are noisy in use and should be cleaned/serviced by a licensed professional. I’m of the understanding that these should not be replaced to insure as much of the original state of this rare instrument as possible. As far as I know, all functions of the mini are in working order. Any additional questions are welcomed. Original owner since circa 1970. Never gigged as they say. Once had the orig plastic, foam-lined travel case but was lost many years ago.” Link

“Great condition. Early Osc boards so sounds fat as hell.

Recently serviced, holds tuning well after warming up.” Link

“Minimoog Model D, Serial #2286

Just back from the shop, almost $500 put into it, now in tip top working order. You’ll see a few cosmetic blemishes in the pics. A couple of scars from knocking around (pic 2), a little discoloration in the side wood panel (pic 4). The mod wheel had a couple of extra slots cut in at some point before I owned it (1984). This thing sounds great!” Link

“Beautiful, fully-working Moog Model D Minimoog. This thing sounds amazing. It contains the much sought-after “old oscillator” boards, considered by many to be beefier than those found in the later Minimoogs. The envelopes are snappy and punchy, the oscillators are thick and luscious, and the filter is 100% genuine Moog. No other compliments or descriptions needed on that last one.

The keyboard mechanism has been freshly serviced and feels brand new. Two common problems happen to classic 70′s keyboards (whether Moog, Oberheim, Sequential, Arp, etc). First, the contacts get dirty with dust and years of grime, leading to squirrelly pitch fluctuations, inconsistent notes and generally a very unsatisfying playing experience. Second, small rubber pads inside many of the classics are beginning to dry up, deteriorate and fall apart. The keys develop a loud clapping sound and begin to feel clunky in a cheap way. In extreme cases, the rubber falls out of place and the vertical height of the keys are uneven. Luckily, the keyboard mechanism on this Minimoog has been serviced to avoid both problems. All contacts have been carefully cleaned, and the rubber bushings have all been replaced with new ones. This keyboard plays like it just rolled out of the Moog factory in New York.

The synthesizer has been internally tuned and thoroughly tested. I have played Minimoogs for years and this sounds beautiful. It will be carefully packed and insured, hence the higher shipping cost. Am willing to hand deliver it within the Minneapolis metro area for free though.” Link

“This unit work flawlessly, I baught it in 85 and it has only seen studio use since, it was however a road unit before that. It has the usual dings and scatches youd expect. Looks real. It has had the standard thermal mod, and a professionally added low freq osc, freeing up the third osc for tonal duty. Osc 2 and 3 have an additional mod allowing switchable tunings. All mods were professionally done and work perfectly.

Its an awsome exhample of a real model D” Link

” Minimoog Model D Serial #4689

I purchased this mini with the intent of keeping it forever. As you can see it’s had many critical updates that make it more precise, much easier to tune/calibrate and of course better looking! These updates have absolutely nothing to do with the inherent sound of the mini, they were performed to make it MUCH more stable and easier to play. Wes Taggart from “Analogics” performed all of the updates and I’ve attached a copy of the original reciept so you can see the amount of work that was put into this mini! The cabinet was replaced with a custom claro walnut cabinet, along with the faceplate being replaced. Key bushings replaced and keys all leveled. All calibration screws replaced with high res trim pots, all capacitors changed, the octave switches were replaced with new switches so when turned they land on the exact note that they’re supossed to. Dead band update for the pitch wheel, new knobs and all new switches. I couldn’t stand how the old blue switches turned greenish from the sun and elements so Wes found some dark blue switches which look great! Plus new white switches in the left hand controller section. And a few more critical things that you can see on the copy of the bill. I also had a custom heavy duty black canvas dust cover made for it… This unit has been played mainly via MIDI through a Kenton MIDI to CV converter which will be included in the sale. A $275 item with the necessary cables. This gives you use of all 3 Oscillators, since the kenton has an LFO included inside! This is the main reason I played it through MIDI, plus the pitch/mod wheels on the mini are never stable and are very hard to operate precisely.

The only thing worth mentioning is that since I never use the mod wheel on the mini itself, it can be a bit skitzy now that I just tried it. It may just need a cleaning and actual use to keep it stable. ALL minis get this if they sit without use for a while. The Mod section was updated almost 2 years ago and hasn’t been used regularly since. I understand this may be a concern for the serious buyer/collector so I just took $250 off the asking price in case it needs fixing. I just have to document every little thing before listing to protect myself as well as the buyer. This is an extremely worthy instrument that has been fully updated by one of the most respected analog synth techs in the US. ” Link

“I purchased this Model D Mini, in the fall of 1976, brand new. I am the only owner of it and it has been in storage, (in my house) since 1981, which was the last time I played it. I know it needs a tune up, all it gives is white and pink noise. This mini is in really good shape, and is a relativly low serial number.” Link

“Vintage Mini Moog Model D. Mint condition with hard road case and all original manuals and documents. Housed in a recording studio and very well cared for. Studio is closing, and it is with great regret that we must part with our equipment.

This synthesizer is in flawless condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. 100% free of corrosion. Absolute satisfaction guaranteed. I will be happy to refund every dime if there is any dissatisfaction with this keyboard. It has been cherished like a family member, and I do hope its new owner will feel the same way.” Link

“elling of my Minimoog Model D,

This thing, despite looking like it has seen better days is in 100% working order. First off, the bad – The action is a little messed up and along the lines someone painted over the wood cabinet (could be easily redone for a few hundred and this thing would be in perfect shape).

The good -

This thing SOUNDS MASSIVE
It has the full studio electronics upgrade that was used for the midimoog – http://www.vintagesynth.com/misc/midimoog.php
I have never seen a single midimoog modification that was done in the original casing of the minimoog and left with the original faceplate on – all the upgrades but with the same minimoog model d mojo
The modification works 100% via midi, one gets control of pitch bend, modulation, filter cutoff
IT HAS AFTERTOUCH VIA MIDI AS WELL AS VELOCITY!
It also has oscillator sync
Midi ports are midi in and thru
There is also a multi trig button so that you can decide whether you want legato playing possible or only percussive attacks for funky basslines
next to the mult trig, there is a know that is basically an envelope routed to the pitch of oscillator 2 that is perfect for oscillator sync ” Link

“This moog at the moment is not making sound. When I first inherited it from Todds Fan Network about 20 years ago it made a perfect clear sound! But now it seems to have stopped. It is also missing the wheels as you can see by the photo. Otherwise it is in awesome condition. The insides look great. This is perfect for someone who knows about these instruments and can work on it a little. I already checked on getting the wheels and you can order them from a number of vintage music dealers. Please email me with your questions. This is awesome for all Todd Rundgren and Utopia fans!

I have no documented proof that this is Rogers but here is how I got it. Utopia had a warehouse up in my neck of the woods in the 80′s and it burned down. Some of the stuff was salvaged and stored at Cris Andersons studio in Bearsville, one of todds sound engineers at the time. When the band no longer wanted the equipment it was given to the woman who used to run the Utopia Times. And she had no place to store it so it was given to me because I was actively helping with Utopia Times.. did the artwork etc. I also got Rogers poly fusion keyboard,(no plug unfortunately) drum machine, some kind of interface and also one of Willie Wilcox’s drum from the Motorcycle drum set he used on the RA tour. I just dont play keyboards and I decided to part with it. I will be selling most of the stuff over the next month. I am sorry that I don’t have anything written but I can assure you .. it was Rogers.” Link

“This listing is for a Moog Minimoog Model D synthesizer. It includes an S-Trigger dummy plug – switch it on to create the famous infinite drone sound. The unit is is in good condition with three minor issues. The highest key does not work. Small writing on mixer section of previous owner’s name. Wood case has some foam stuck to it, should be restored or replaced.” Link

“Beautiful vintage Moog Minimoog in excellent condition. Serial # 8807.
FULLY TESTED-100% functional, sounds thick and incredible!
As you can see even the overload lamp for external input works perfectly.
Note: as usual with older gear, a couple pots and switches may be a little scratchy at first as it hasn’t been used much in years, a little use and they all seem fine. Spraying some deoxit on them should clean them up nicely, however, that’s up to you, I have not sprayed anything on them, they always seem fine after a bit of use.
Cosmetically, it looks great, the knob for External Input has a scratch/blemish on it, and there are two minor scratches on the left face into text “Controllers” and just above it by the Glide. Also, a minor, not deep scratch into the wood on the left end cheek as is visable in pics.

Includes ORIGINAL MANUAL, ORIGINAL SERVICE MANUAL, and Sound Charts, blank patch sheets and flyer with specs, all are original and in excellent condition.
Includes beat up wood flight case, which should protect it for shipping, synth has NOT been stored in that ugly case, case has been in storage. Will ship in flight case plus outer box. If you do not want the case, I can ship it double boxed for extra protection.” Link
