“Up for bid is a vintage Moog Micromoog synthesiser in full working order. I’ve owned a Minimoog, and this unit holds it own against it for bass and lead sounds. It will rip your head off with the right amplification. There is slight damage on the back where the logo is located, a little warping of the shell. This is a vintage piece with honest wear, but nothing that affects the sound. Includes 3 original sound sheets from an original employee of Moog when these were made.” Link

* Because the item is older and fragile it will be well packaged & insured against damage. It is Guaranteed to not be DOA. At the time of packaging item will be retested to assure it is working.
* We tested it and other than a few minor scratchy controls, all keys and functions seem to work
* Cosmetically it is also very good condition, some scratches & scuffs considered normal wear” Link

“Hello! Up for auction is my Moog Micromoog analog synth. This is a single OSC synth, but don’t let those words fool you… This is the biggest sounding, fattest single osc synth I have ever owned. It also has a dedicated know to add a SUB OSC sort of sound with an octave down all the way clockwise and sounds like two octaves down all the way counter clockwise. That knob is called DOUBLING on the top panel. The LFO section is pretty amazing as well with SIX!!!! Yes SIX Mod Sources Including Sample and Hold. The low end on this synth is lush, deep and huge but some pretty wicked leads are easily handled by this synth. As if these things were not enough, here’s the best part… the filter. It can sound clean and creamy and get granley, mean, and be the bully of any other analog synth you own. Indeed. There three different modes for the filter… all adjustable via the Three Mode Selector switch on the top panel. I often use the filter input on the back panel to drive guitars, vocals, drums, and other weaker synths through the heart of this Micromoog. I own a minimoog, Roland SH5, Obie OBXA and a TVS, Korg MS20 and several other synths… NOTHING sounds like this synth. The Micro and the Multimoog have a sound totally unique to the Moog Brand as well as being unique to any other analog synth out there. That’s a fact. I’ve owned this synth for 5 years. Every knob and switch work great, the Mod wheel and Ribbon cable all work great. The cosmetics are very very good, all the keys trigger and they do NOT re-trigger like older mistreated synth can exhibit. The pitch is very solid. Give this synth 2-3 minutes to warm up and it’s solid on pitch for the duration. That’s pretty remarkable for a synth of this age. There are s few keys the feel a little stiff or clicky, but they still play and trigger just fine. I’ve played fast leads and basses on this keybed and it never hindered my performance. I just want to be clear of all the condition on this synth for you, the potential buyer. I am REALLY going to miss this synth, but I just bought a MacBeth massive analog synth that has put my pocketbook in quite a bind. This money will help me pay that bad boy off. ” Link

“Up for sale is a 1976 Moog MicroMoog synthesizer. Cosmetically it is in great condition, besides a few small scuffs on the black plastic piece at the bottom left that are barely even noticeable. All knobs/sliders controls working just fine as they should, mod wheel works fine, pitch ribbon works but is kind of finicky. The problem with this synth is the output, it will work fine for a little bit (5-15 minutes usually) after you turn it on and then it will start cutting in and out for a few more minutes and then will usually not put out anymore sound until next time you plug it up. Maybe this would be a good project or something you could fix if you know how or know a good tech. It may just need a good cleaning, I don’t know. It sounds great while it’s working though. ” Link

“This is one of the last two vintage synths I own and the first one I ever bought (in “76). It’s hard to part with, but the time has come. It’s in excellent shape for a 34 year old synth. Everything works (including the pitch ribbon and modulation wheel), though it could use a little cleaning and a little TLC. This one was assembled in April of 1976 and its serial # is 2860.” Link

“or your consideration is a very clean MOOG Micromoog With Custom Wood Side Panels.
The unit has been gently used over the years and shows light cosmetic wear(see pics).
The unit works great and sounds amazing!
This likely to be the best looking Micro you’ll see, she’s very clean and the new wood panels are very classy.
Also take note that the pitch ribbon is fully functional.
This listing includes the MOOG Micromoog only.” Link

“Vintage analog Moog Mircomoog sythesizer in excellent working condition and excellent cosmetic condition (the only cosmetic flaws are two small holes pictured, one key sitting slightly higher than the rest, and wear on the ribbon pitch bend thing). The only functional quirks are that it sometimes needs to warm up to be in proper scaling. May just need to calibrate it, which is a DIY thing — there are holes in the back through which you can stick a screw driver & turn a little disc to calibrate by ear — though most of the time it’s perfectly scaled from the get go, and it keeps tune really well over time (rare for a moog). There is one mod done to this: the weird “modulation” jack in the back has been replaced with a 1/4″ jack, as I absolutely could not find an adaptor for the proprietary(?) original size (5/18″) jack that was there. This means that the moog can receive a third modulation source (in addition to the filter and osc mod jacks already on the back) and output its lfos as well. Interfacing it with my Doepfer rig was amazing — with the onboard mod, & different things coming into the three jacks, I could get amazing quad modulation going. The replaced jack is stereo like the original, so you need a stereo cord. Was going to set up two mono mini jacks (in place of the 5/18″ one) to be mounted in the two holes I pictured, but the holes I drilled were too small and I couldn’t rustle up a bigger drill bit. The mini jack set up worked great with my Doepfer; I just never mounted them. Also included are several male and female cinch-jones connections — one of which is mounted on a cord with an 1/8″ mono plug at one end — for using the s-trig ins and outs (the cord works great). Anyways, you may have guessed i’m not exactly an electrician, but the Moog is fine, clean, fully functional. Nevertheless, it’s sold as is.” Link

“Mein Heimstudio wird aufgelöst, deshalb kommen auch ein paar Schätzchen unter den Hammer: z.B. mein Micromoog. Kennern brauche ich sicher nicht viel zu erzählen, es sei aber darauf hingeweisen, dass es sich trotz einem Oszillator in vieler Hinsicht um einen interessanteren Synth als den Prodigy handelt. Die Modulationsmöglichkeiten sind viel größer (z.B. Sample and Hold). Link

“Totally original, except power supply replaced with vastly superior one.
(Much better voltage stability which means tuning stability).

The MICROMOOG is a monophonic analog synthesizer produced by Moog from 1975-1979. Designed by Robert Moog and Jim Scott as a scaled-down version of the MINIMOOG. Incredibly, it has several features that the MINIMOOG doesn’t (far more extensive modulation routing, ribbon controller, accessory power, & more). What does the MINIMOOG have that the MICROMOOG doesn’t? Three VCO’s. But in actuality, since the MINIMOOG doesn’t have an LFO, one usually uses two of its VCO’s for voice generation, and the third as a LFO for modulation.

Well, the MICROMOOG has an LFO, and a VCO with a doubling circuit, which controllably adds an octave or two below the main VCO pitch. Result? The sound of two VCO’s and an LFO. Just like the MINIMOOG. There have been those who claim the MICRO doesn’t sound as fat on low frequencies. The mod was installed that supposedly improves this. It’s bogus, at least on this particular instrument. This instrument sounds very rich and full, and was directly, side-by-side, compared to a MINI. There’s a very, very slight *difference* but neither is *superior* so the mod was removed and this instrument was restored to original.

Take a look at the condition of this extraordinary instrument from 1978 (near the end of production, so it is one of the more stable instruments). It L@@Ks NEW! There are no scratches, except a bit on the bottom, and the sides are immaculate. These photos are unretouched. What you are seeing is what you get.” Link

“You are bidding on a Micromoog 2090 analog synthesizer from Moog Music Inc.

I am not the original owner of this unit, but I did use it for live performance and recording for a few years between 2003-2007.

Please note that this unit is being sold AS-IS, and there are no returns, I am selling it in the hopes that someone with some knowledge in electronics might be able to open it up and make a few fixes. Very few of the Micromoogs still out there are in perfect condition as they were all produced 1975-1979. These circuits are coming on 35 years old.

The unit powers on without a problem and still makes some very interesting sounds. The modulation works, the mod wheel is fine, the filter seems to have some problems and probably needs some work. Wave settings seem to adjust properly. The pitch bend ribbon is brand new (I had it replaced just before putting into storage). However, make no mistake, if you are looking for a Micromoog in perfect condition, this is not it. The main problems are that it does not hold pitch (it falls off gradually and then begins to rise slowly), and the sounds are pretty gritty on most settings (there are probably pots that need replacement etc..) and the filter is not as precise and smooth as one might hope.

This auction also includes an ATA flight case custom made to fit the Micromoog. I had it built by Hot Rod Cases in Trumansburg (the original home of Moog Music, incidentally). The case fits like a glove and is heavy duty, with 1″ hard foam.

Finally, I this auction includes a copy of the original Micromoog Operation Manual written by Tom Rhea.

So, if you are have some electronics know-how and some time, or if you are interested in owning an imperfect noise maker, or if you are just interested in owning a piece of history, this auction is for you.” Link

“So, here’s the story on this machine. I bought it from an estate sale in California. Was going to try and see if I could make some beats with it on my computer. I had no idea what it could do, so I took it into Guitar Center to see if they could show me some things about it. As soon as I walked in the door there, everyone was like “No way, is that a Moog?!” We plugged it in and it worked pretty well and I was excited about trying it at home. Then the guy told me that it sells for a few thousand in some places and I thought “I have no business using this machine for my amateur beatmaking.”

So, anyway here it is:

The electronics, knobs, etc. work pretty well as far as I could tell. The last 2 or 3 keys from the right side I would say work about 45 / 50 % of the time. Produces a multitude of crisp, clear, unique sounds, depending of course on what you do with all the knobs and switches. Great machine! Perfect for leads and bases especially!” Link

micro “Up for sale is my vintage 1970′s analog monophonic Moog. The beloved Micromoog! It is described as the “Moog synthesizer for everyman.” That it is indeed. This keyboard sounds SO good! It is my first analog synth and I want to keep it forever for future projects and for nostalgia but hard financial times require me to sell it. The Micromoog consists of the necessities: one voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), one voltage controlled amplifier (VCA), two contour generators, and one sample and hold. The ‘open system’ inputs and outputs make this Micromoog a basic musical building block which can be expanded to meet your growth. This keyboard has been taken care of wonderfully, having been serviced a few times over the years. Some pots are a little scratchy now and then but go away if you let the synth warm up for 20 minutes. This is a wonderful studio or stage synth, perfect for performers that want that fat Moog sound for bass and lead patches. There are some standard scratches and dings in its housing but nothing too bad. More pictures available on request. It also comes with its own custom hardshell roadcase that my tech that performed the service on the Moog said was used by the band Yes, if you care. I paid $250 for it and it’s being included with the synth. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Since this is a used piece of gear, please be aware it’s being sold as is.” Link

The MicroMoog is played by legends like Kraftwerk and Herbie Hancock. It may be the most versatile monophonic analog synth in its league, some musicians even prefer it to the MiniMoog. It is excellent for out-of-this-world effects and still playable as a lead instrument. With a good FX unit it can sound like almost anything. Pre-MIDI (though there are people in the world who can mod these…), glitchy (it is old – the pitch strip is a little testy), versatile. The first Moog I ever came into contact with and it still blows my mind. Hard to give it up, but I’ll ship it to you lovingly packed in egg-crate foam and placed in a vintage brown Samsonite suitcase, then packed in bubble wrap and insured like crazy. “This particular beast was made on April 1, 1976, but far from a joke; it is an awesome old beast.

I am not a collector, but a player and certified tech. I repair many of the synths in the midwest KC area, and keep many musicians in “play”. I am also a demanding player.

The Filter Contour Pot and knob are not original, and it has some warts and discoloration externally, but as an instrument it is 100% operational and ready for your sonic arsenal.
Bottom particle board panel is a bit ugly, but that is original. Added a new AC power cable. Old one was corroded and nasty.

In addition I have just rebuilt the Pitch ribbon and have gone over several internal connections to insure quality of operation. Stays in tune and doesn’t freak (unless you want it too.) No spider eggs either. ” Link

“I have not used this synthesizer. It powers on and was being used in a local recording studio when the estate was sold. I am selling this item “As-Is” and not DOA just because I do not know very much about this item. The overall condition is very good. There are really no noticeable scratches or marks in the case. All the knobs and dials are free moving and in excellent condition. I am not sure how to check anything else.” Link

“For your consideration is this vintage Moog Micromoog in excellent condition with the era appropriate Anvil fibre case. This synth has been thoroughly tested, and is guaranteed to work perfectly. This vintage single-oscillator monophonic Moog synthesizer was created to be an accessible version of the Minimoog. This Moog is extremely user-friendly and easy to manipulate. With 1 VCO, 1 VCA, 1 low-pass filter, and a sample & hold arpeggiator, this very simple keyboard is one of the most basic synthesizer units. While some Moog synthesizers are difficult to interpret, this highly functional model enables productive immediate use. This synth is highly recommended for: small studios, synth collectors, non-keyboard playing musicians, live performances, producers, and experimental artists. As stated, the synthesizer works great and sounds amazing. Cosmetically, the synth looks beautiful with minimal wear. The ribbon pitch controller exhibits expected use, but otherwise the synth is perfectly intact with all knobs and switches present. The wood side panels look beautiful, and the aluminum trim is also very excellent.” Link

“Completely functional except there is no “filter mode” switch. I am not exactly sure how this effects the sound, as the filter works and can be engaged, options are full, tone and normal, so it must be stuck on one of these, still sounds great.

Micromoog, Moog @ 05 January 2009, “No Comments”

“Vintage MOOG Micromoog monophonic synthesizer in good working condition. This little synth has an excellent sample & hold function in its modulation as well as the ribbon controller.

This synth is roughly 33 years old so it has a little bit of wear from years of use.

Due to size and weight, I would prefer local pickup (New York City). Flat $50 shipping to anywhere in the continental US. Please contact me before bidding if you’re outside of that to determine what the shipping rate would be.” Link
