Also nicht nur die rote Ausführung ist besonders, sondern die Tatsache, dass das gute Stück seit 1986 ausnahmslos in dem passgenauen, Schaumstoff gefütterten Hardcase verbracht hat (siehe Bilder) und somit in einem Zustand praktisch wie am ersten Tag überdauert hat.

Man beachte, dass sogar noch Teile der Originalverpackung und sogar die Batterien der Neuauslieferung erhalten sind und zur Auktion gehören.

So sind dem guten Stück natürlich jegliche Bühnenauftritte, genauso wie insbesondere die Hardcore Belastungen in den Tagen der zweiten Blüte des SH-101, nämlich während seiner nahezu fanatischen Beliebtheit für D&B und Technobässe erspart geblieben.

Mittlerweile hat sich der SH generell wieder seine verdiente Stellung als mehr als nur ein Bass-Synth zurück erobert, ist stark gesucht und wird vor allem unter Einsatz eines Midi-CV/Gate Interfaces gerne eingesetzt.

(Bei Bedarf habe ich auch noch ein solches Midi Interface von einem anderen, mittlerweile kaputten Synth zur Verfügung und könnte dieses separat ebenfalls abgeben).

Weitere Details zum SH-101 hier aufzulisten erspare ich mir, denn jeder der hier reingeschaut hat, weiss wahrscheinlich sowieso um was für ein Schätzchen es sich handelt (jenseits des Sounds z.B. Arpeggiator, Sequencer, etc etc).

The condition has been thoroughly highlighted in the many Hi-res photos above including the battery cover holding pegs tha have snapped off, the cover still closes in fine and stays in place, although I would not recommend any Jimi Hendrix type stage acrobatics!!!

The condition is good in my point of view, the marks are minor for a synth this age, I have done my best to take photos of all of the synths areas so you can check this yourself as your levels of expected condition might differ from mine..

There are screws missing from the bottom but this does not affect the unit structurally.

I don’t want to sell this but was offered an even more fascinating synth and now need to pay for it so I’ve decided to part with my Custom Designed Roland SH-101 Dance and Acid/Electro/Experimental Synthesiser. It comes with the Mod Grip and Custom Fitted Flight Case and a virtually new power supply.

You probably know what an SH-101 is so I won’t say much. It has its own built in little sequencer and arpeggiator, sounds divine and has C/V and Gate inputs and outputs. But……

….. this one is CHROME in colour. It’s the only one ever made by Jeff at Customsynth.co.uk and there was a lot of interest when he was selling it but I managed to get it!

It is fully serviced and works perfectly.

This one was customised by Jeff Toman at CustomSynth in Devon just a few months ago and I persuaded him to sell it to me, despite offers of well over £1K.

Roland SH-101 mono synth, early 80’s 2nd owner. Great, nasty 80’s synth sounds. None of the recent keyboards come close to the growl this board gets, even the recent Rolands with the SH-101 patches. Great shape, comes with original manual, new Boss A/C adaptor and the original mod grip (most sellers offer it separately for an extra $200.00). Professionally looked at and everything works great. No crackles, and no problems. The only issue: one of the screw holes for the strap is enlarged (pictured), but it doesn’t affect the playability whatsoever.” Link

I have owned this SH101 for about 10 years and have exclusively used it in the studio, it has never been roughed up by the road. I have babied this instrument, so any wear and tear was there when I purchased it.

Please read carefully about the condition…

I am NOT a vintage synth expert so I will describe the condition of the keyboard the best I can. In general it is in very good shape. It has a few minor scratches that are appropriate for its age, but no cracks. It plays very well but since I have not used it in 3 or 4 years, it needs some cleaning. Some of the sliders are a bit noisy but they get better with use (and cleaning). I do not make any claims that this keyboard is in “perfect” condition and do not guarantee that it can be restored to perfect condition. However, I don’t see any reason why it could not be easily restored, I’m just saying that because I am not an expert I can’t guarantee anything.

Known issues…

- The high C key sticks when pressed.
- The “Transpose” button is missing.
- The “LFO Mod” slider is missing.

Those are the only issues I am aware of, there may be other issues I do not know about, but I have never come across anything.

The synth itself needs no explanation. This one is in particularly nice condition and sounds fantastic. This one also has the addition of a very neat (looks like it was factory installed) Kenton 2-socket kit which allows direct control of both filter and mod. It’s a really good example of this classic synth, and definitely one of the best you will find.
