FUNCTIONALLY, ALL THE CONTROLS WORK.
THE FIVE KEYS MARKED WITH GREEN ARE EITHER INTERMITANT OR DO NOT WORK. I GUESS A GOOD CLEANING IS IN ORDER.” Link

“If you are looking at this auction, you know what this is. Moog made a synthesizer for Radio Shack back in the 80′s and the MG-1 was the end result.
I’ll spare you all of the capabilities of the unit, but it does a lot of neat sounds. I purchased this brand new and am the original owner. I played it here and there for about 2 months and it’s been in storage every since.
Cosmetically, it’s in great condition. All the switches and knobs are present and work as they should. The only issue very small scratch on one key, which can probably be removed.
The cord is in great condition and I was playing it earlier. Don’t miss your chance to have a very nice piece in your collection!” Link
“Moog Realistic Concertmate MG-1 in Mint Condition, it is in exceptionally good condition, inside and out. very little wear on the keys, knobs and surfaces. NO corrosion anywhere inside or out.
Sounds really good

“Here is my Moog Realistic MG-1 up for grabs. It is in great shape, works perfectly, missing 5 slider caps and there is a small cigarette burn on the underside of the high C key that is not visible from above and does not affect functionality. I don’t smoke and the board does not smell like smoke, looks like a one time incident from the past. It holds its tune well, doesn’t take long to warm up, and oh yeah… it’s a MOOG. It sounds fantastic. I am not some lame reseller that doesn’t know what they have, I have been playing and modding synths for 10+ years and this one is well maintained and needs nothing. No surprises, it is ready to go as is and has had all of the updates and reliability mods these things need to stay usable.” Link
“Up for bid is the Realistic Concertmate MG-1 synthesizer made for Radio Shack by Moog. This unit is surprisingly very capable of making a wide variety of old style synth sounds considering the price range it was created to fill in the Radio Shack product lineup at the time. This one appears to work well when I tested it using a cable connected to the headphone jack and an amplifier. I have not tried the phono output jacks since I do not have any equipment that connects that way. It has one nick on a bottom back corner as seen in the photo. It came with the black tape over the back as seen in the other photo. Keyboard appears to work fine and the switches all appear to function fine.” Link

“This synthesizer sounds ok. I don’t have a clue how to work it, so I can’t really offer a professional opinion by any means. I just mess around with the controls until it sounds good to my ear. I plug it into a guitar amplifier. It’s missing 5 of those little knobs that slip over the controls. You can see those in the picture. A couple of the controls you have to grip them smoothly to make them move smoothly. One of them is the one that says “Poly Phony” and “Rate”…otherwise all of the other controls move very smoothly. Sold as is… For some reason the red light doesn’t come on when it’s turned on, but it’s on. ” Link
“Up for auction is my Moog MG-1 Synthesizer designed for Realistic. I am the original and only owner of this synth. I’ve used it in performances as well as recordings and it works perfectly. There is one fader cap missing as well as the silver top from another fader cap.” Link
“I’m the second owner, The synth is in amazing shape,Functional, very clean and sounds GREAT for being an Analog Classic. Not Modified, in it’s original factory spec. The Contacts may need cleaning, basic maintenance, Be Aware that this is a Vintage Analog Synthesizer and it’s not being sold as “new”, so because of it’s age it will be sold, “As Is!”
All the Pictures are the actual MOOG MG-1, Original Manual and Custom Built Case in this auction

“heres a nice moog mg1 . yes indeed working too, and it sounds incredible, condition is mint and boxed, with foam and wrapper. sold as it stands, ” Link
“Realistic by Moog Concertmate MG-1 Synthesizer. Works well from what I can tell. All knobs, sliders work. Keys in good shape.
The word “Cherner” is scratched into the side. I couldn’t get it to show in a picture.
RCA Input & Output on the back side, as well as a 1/4″ out on the front.
Item is sold “AS-IS” Link
“Selling my Moog designed for Realistic MG-1 Concertmate. Cosmetically very close to perfect -only flaw is a crack on the edge of the tone sources knob. Full sets of knobs and slider caps can be had for $29.99. Sounds perfect. Black goo has been cleaned from the board and it still works perfectly -if you know what I’m talking about you know this is a very good thing. If not, do a little reading on these internet’s then come back and see the statement before this. No need to replace any sliders or pots. Included is a very rare original instruction manual. Why I’m selling doesn’t really matter but FWIW I just bought a Moog Source and have very limited space… Will be packed very well. You wont find a cleaner one that hasn’t had $100′s of tech work done. Note my 100% positive feedback -this includes some recent synthesizer sales” Link
“Hey everyone this auction is for The Moog Realistic Concertmate MG-1 vintage analog synthesizer, fully working and been in my family from new around 1984, fully working and comes with power lead too.
I’ve seen a lot of modern bands use this as it has such bassy sounds, perfect for live and studio work.
This has been in the attic for a years and it must go to a new home where people will get the real use out of this amazing bit of vintage synth.” Link
“You are bidding on a Realistic (by Moog Music) Concertmate MG-1 Synthesizer. The item is in good physical shape. I’ve had it checked out by someone that knows about these units, and found the following issues with it:
- Amplifier is scratchy (Volume knob scratchy, only hear sound between around 8 and 10 on the Master Volume knob)
- Oscillator 1 (Tone Source 1) is scratchy but audible for both sawtooth and square wave
- Oscillator 2 (Tone Source 2) is scratchy, audible for sawtooth, but not audible for pulse wave
- Polyphony tone source is scratchy, almost inaudible for lower end of keyboard
- Cutoff slider only registers above 4-6
- Generally sliders are scratchy or don’t quite work properly” Link
“All the keys play the knobs work well and the sliders, well are not as smooth as they were new, but they work with some scratchiness now and then. Of the first three sliders on the lower left one is missing its chrome the other two have rubber caps not the original plastic. Unit powers on and plays. I tried some of the patches for sounds and instruments provided in the book and they worked. I played with it for 2 or 3 hours and it is one of the coolest sound effects generators, lots of fun. But alas I am no musician, so all I can do with it is make cool noise and PO my neighbors (at one point they thought we were under helicopter attack. LOL!) It does a impressive job of making my sliding glass doors sound like they are going to explode with a 200 watt Sony amp three way speakers and subwoofer. It comes with a reprint of instruction manual and the best part, you also get service information on CD. There is some mild stain on the word contour on the front and some mild green stain on the back, also power cord is on the stiff side from age, but I don’t see any damage to the insulation. The service info is dated 1981 so the MG-1 is somewhere in the 25 to 30 year old range. The MG-1 and amp must be on the same power strip and grounded or you get a small hum sound from the amp. The head phone jack works very well no hum, but its no fun to play with a synthesizer unless something falls off the wall from the vibration.
The Realistic Moog MG-1 is being sold AS-IS with no returns.” Link

” Realistic/Moog Mg-1 Synthesizer W/ instruction manual. In great condition. No broken keys, sliders or knobs. The tone slider has a piece of black tubing over the slider, hardly noticeable. Unit powers on and makes noises when you press keys. Also comes with original instruction manual. There is some sort of stain on the front cover, the pages are all there and all in excellent condition” Link
“Ok, here’s the deal, this is a great synth, similar, but better than the Moog Rogue, had both, kept the MG-1, moving so must sell.
This is a classic. It’s in kinda rough condition, really not that bad, see pics. Everything works except for the “polyphony” slider. I did my best at cleaning out the black gunk from the crappy foam they used inside this in ’95. So it may still have bits, but most was removed.
I never got around to installing this but it does include the full slider replacement kit for Technology Transplant, as shown. The only fault i found was the polyphony slider, which i suspect has just become un-soldered on one end.
thanks!” Link
“This auction is for a Moog Realistic Concertmate MG-1 Synthesizer 100% original. No issues works perfectly. This unit is in excellent to new condition! 100% functional, all keys in correct working order- no sticking. All knobs and sliders intact and original. No scratches, dents, or marks. A closet classic! Free Manual available on the internet.” Link

It’s Clean..very clean !
Everything works …Everything sounds great.
Here is your chance to own one of these rare beasts” Link
“Moog MG1 Concertmate Realistic Analog Synthesizer …seems to be in fairly good shape i do not know much about how it should work but all the controls appear to be working …the tone sources control is not as smooth as the others (a little sticky but not real bad) the model number is 42-4000″ Link
“Good physical condition. Synth powers up,And sounds Great. All keys work. the power cord was glued in see pic 4. But works well. ” Link
” Overall condition of this synth is excellent, there is one slider knob that is missing. All keys work.
I am the original owner of this item, I ‘ve had this since the 80′s.” Link
“This unit is in good cosmetic condition. It powers up and operates but a few keys stick. ( may need cleaning). I am selling AS -IS with not much knowledge on the product.” Link
“This is in great shape. I have owned it for more than 25 years. The only thing that I know to be wrong with it is that it is missing a cap on one slider. It still works fine” Link
“You are bidding on a Realistic (by Moog Music) Concertmate MG-1 Synthesizer. The item is in good shape, and has no problems. (just a little dusty)” Link
“This item is completely functional. All keys work, all sliders and knobs work CLEANLY (no scratchiness at all). Included is an extremely sturdy aluminum Viking flight case.” Link
“Almost like-new condition Realistic by Moog Concertmate MG-1 analog synthesizer.
The synth comes with the original Service Manual, Manual, and box! This is about as close as you can come to walking out of your local Radio Shack in 1980 with a brand new MG-1. The unit is clean and barely has any signs of use. Awesome, lightweight little synth akin to the Taurus, Prodigy, and Rogue” Link
“Good physical condition. Synth powers up, but sounds bad. A#/Bb key doesn’t work; F key is physically broken, but still working.” Link
“This unit is in fantastic cosmetic condition. It was purchased at a local estate sale. When I asked if it worked…I was told “My father would not have kept it if it didnt”. So I bought it. I know Zero about how to properly use it. What I can tell you is that it powers up and the red light flashes fast or slow depending on where the rate slider is adjusted. This is where I am sure I will make someone laugh but The keyboard does not make any sound when played as it sits. I plugged the output from the synth to my TV set to try to get something out of it as I do not have a speaker with an rf input. It made some tweets and clicks but nothing like a keyboard. I am guessing that it needs to be ran through an amplifier to be heard. I know I am showing my total lack of knowledge but this is the extent that it has been tested.” Link
“I can’t put it off any longer…. Its time to sell my trusty Moog!!!
I have owned this one since 1986 and it has been lovingly cared for. It has just (this week) had a service which involved removing the potentially offending internal dust covers, and giving all the switches and sliders a good clean. Everything is working just as it should, the only issue being some noise from the rear outputs (the front headphone output is perfectly quiet).
Appearance wise, it is very tidy indeed. All original parts and no marks or scratches worthy of mention. It comes with a copy of the owner’s manual (the original is filed somewhere safe?!) and I can supply the service manual if required.” Link
“Great condition Moog Concertmate. This is a 2 oscillator monophonic analog synthesizer with a genuine Moog filter. Although marketed by Radioshack in 1981, this was 100% made by Moog Music in Buffalo, NY. It’s most similar in function and appearance to the Moog Rogue- I actually have a Rogue as well and confirm the strong similarity. Includes a Moog padded case.
Specs
Polyphony – Monophonic (plus 10-voice poly-section organ sound)
Oscillators – 2 VCO’s; TG1: sawtooth and square; TG2: sawtooth and pulse waveforms; Noise source
Filter – 1 24dB/oct lowpass w/ cutoff, emphasis, env amount
Keyboard – 32 keys
Control – CV / GATE
Power – 120v via power cord (no external adapter needed)
In terms of condition, this synth is very clean. Sliders work nicely and without noise. Some of the slider caps are missing, however performance is in no way impacted (you can also find them on eBay if you really want to replace them). The sound is fantastic pure Moog-ness of course.” Link
“This was a synth manufactured by Moog for Radio Shack (realistic). I have the original owners manual and about 50 programming templates. Has the real moog sound. In mint condition and fully operational.” Link
“this is the moog mg-1 vintage analog synthesizer from the early eightees
also know as the concertmate mg-1 or the tandy moog or realistic moog
build by moog with the famous ladder filter
it sounds very smooth and warm not harsh like the prodigy much closer to the mini
they are not as sturdy built as the minimoog for example but very cute and compact
the tuning is been stable always
sync function and a so called bell tone oscillator which is basically a ring modulator
(play arround with the detune and you get very metallic bell like sounds)
there is also a polyphonic organ section that can be added to the whole sound very bizzar but interesting
with the filter resonance in self oscillation i made a whole lot and very punchy drum sounds aswell
best chck out this demo on you tube of a whole track made only with the mg-1
type “synthecticmachienes mg-1″ into youtube
this example is in very good condition all working perfectlly cosmetically 9.5/10
like all moogs it uses s-trigger when you run it from cv/gate
on the back it has phono ins and out and a more conventional much louder jack output on the front
this synth has been a gem and i used it on so many productions the only reason im selling it is becasue i just bought a minimoog
and i cant justify keeping this now” Link
“This is the Realistic Concertmate Moog Mg-1, just pulled it back out and it works fine, everything still functions normally. Cosmetically it’s in excellent condition, with a few minor nicks, but nothing too big. It’s missing some caps for the sliders, but there’s a replacement set available on ebay.” Link
”
The unit is in good condition, three slider caps are missing but this does not affect playability.
I purchased this second hand 3 years ago, previous owner assured me it had been serviced 2 years before that.
I’ve used this synth for a maximum of 20 hours over the 3 years I’ve owned it.
No problems with tuning slipping.
I’ve only ever used the headphone out on the front. So I have no idea if the interface ports, stereo outs or aux ins work or not.” Link
“For sale is a Realistic brand MG-1 Concertmate Synthesizer made by Moog! Serial number is 2018. I bought this synth 10 years ago and played it with a rock band for a while. I’ve moved on to more advanced synths and software, so it has been in its box since then. I plugged it in today and it still works for the most part. The top octave all works. Below that only a few notes work, and some will play for a few seconds and then cut out. This leads me to think that it may just be a matter of cleaning, though I haven’t had it looked at by a professional. All the knobs and sliders are still intact and functional, but some of the connections need cleaning (particularly “Tone Two” in the “Mixer” section). It was in this condition when I bought it and I’ve had no work done to it.
I’m sure most people looking at this auction will be familiar with the MG-1′s features, however for those who aren’t, Wikipedia has a better description of the product than I could put here. One big plus to this particular synth is that it has an added 1/4″ jack on the front (pictured). I’m sure if you’re looking at this item you know how handy that addition is. All in all this is a great little synth that should be ready to rock after a cleaning.” Link
”
Ever since this little Moog made Reaslistic Synth walked into our shop people can’t keep their hands off of it. Instant party with this little box of wonder! You know who Moog is, but who the heck is Realistic? Well, it was actually stuff sold at Radioshack of all places! Anytime you hear of your favorite artists saying that they used some old cheap stuff from RS, it’s not today’s off-the-shelf stuff, it’s usually something super cool and well made like this vintage synth. It is an all analog synthesizer with the famous “ladder filter,” is mostly monophonic with some polyphony, has a 31 note keyboard, has two tone sources/oscillators (square/saw waves) which can be synched or detuned, ring modulator, and that fat and gooey Moog tone! This one is used but fully operational. It is quite clean and must have sat in a home/studio for most of its +/- 30 years. No computer simulator can touch this!” Link
“Excellent Condition Moog Mg-1
it would be in mint condition
- but there is a super small chip on the Low G key,
- under the key, so minor..but worth disclosing.
-a 1/4 cable swung and hit it.. when i was trying to untangle a simple cable! ahh!
____
100% working, 100% awesome and phat.
it has 3 oscillators
osc 1-saw/square
osc 2-saw/pulse
osc 3-polyphonic square wave
ring mod from osc1/2 which gives you a distorted phat tone
noise source
1 LFO w/ square/random/sine
This is one of the only moogs that is polyphonic and can also have 3 oscillators that can each be detuned.
no missing knobs and all sliders/switches/knobs work 100%.
no dents/scratches or scuffs.
the only thing is the chip on the key
the rear panel has cv/gate inputs.

“This auction is for a REALISTIC CONCERTMATE MG – 1 SYNTHESIZER. Writing on top right states this is made by MOOG MUSIC.
I know nothing about music or instruments. I bought this at an estate sale. It appears to be in good physical condition. No cracks, stains or visible damage. I plugged it in and a red light comes on. There is no sound. There are no missing knobs. All knobs and sliders turn and move easily. All keyboard keys depress and recover fully. I have no way of verifying this is partially or fully functional. I can only say it turns on. Also moving the Modulation RATE slider makes the red light flash faster and slower as it probably should.” Link
“VINTAGE REALISTIC MOOG SYNTHESIZER CONCERTMATE MG-1. ESTATE FIND – COSMETICALLY EXCELLENT CONDITION. MISSING 6 SLIDER CAPS. ALL SLIDERS MOVE FREELY. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT WORKS OR IF IT WORKS. I PLUGED IN THE POWER CORD AND A RED LIGHT COMES ON WHERE IT SAYS “RATE” AND IT BLINKS SLOWLY ON SLOW AND FASTER AS YOU GO UP. ALL THE METAL SWITCHES WORK AND IT STILL HAS RUBBER FEET ON BOTTOM. I WAS TOLD IT WORKS BUT I CAN’T GUARANTEE IT – SELLING AS IS. ” Link
“You are bidding on a Vintage Moog Realistic Concertmate MG-1 Synthesizer Synth. I have lots of photos below, so be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this page to take a better look. This amazing specimen of vintage synthesizer history looks like it was perhaps used once or twice and then stored away in a closet, in its original box and packing material (!) for many, many years. The synth shows some minor dust and such in some areas from long storage, but nothing that wouldn’t clean up easily, and the keyboard powers up and works perfectly, making all manner of beeps and buzzes as it should, and all keys and the various knobs and sliders look to be working as they should be. A couple of the sliders are a little scratchy from age, but even these aren’t bad, and the keyboard is really in a pretty remarkable state of preservation.” Link
“Description: This is a vintage Moog Realistic Concertmate MG-1 synth analog professional electronic musical instrument. Made by legendary synthesizer manufacturer Moog Music and sold exclusively under the Realistic Brand name at Radio Shack stores for a short time in the early 1980′s. This synth features genuine Moog analog synthesizer cicuitry. This machine is in excellent working condition and excellent cosmetic condition. This unit does not come with a user manual but that information can be found along with all this instrument’s detailed functions by doing an internet search for this model. The power supply is a hard-wired standard AC/DC plug with about 12 feet of cord. Features include two tone generators, modulation control, contour control, and filter for sharp leads and thick bass. Outputs feature Stereo L/R Audio Out, Aux Audio in L/R, Pitch and Trigger Interfaces. Three mixer slider caps are missing. They are plastic pop-on covers and can easily be replaced and have no affect on their functions. All functions work properly and this unit is in excellent cosmetic condition with a few minor scratches and wear scuffs.” Link
“ALL SWICHES AND SLIDERS HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH NEW PARTS . But the “tone sources” switch seems to not be working. Im not sure what is wrong with it, but the rest of the synth works great. Overall normal wear on outside of synth with light scratches.” Link
“Here’s a vintage Realistic MG-1 Synthesizer made in the USA by Moog Music, model 42-4000. All of the knobs and slider tips are present. Power cord is good, with no splits or cracks.
This belonged to a relative, and I don’t really know much at all about this instrument. I did power it on and tried playing it through an amp: all of the keyboard keys produced sound when struck; all of the sliders, switches and knobs seemed to have an effect on the sound. I didn’t try the aux in or the pitch or trigger ports since I don’t know what their functions are.
So if you’re into that vintage sound, give this MG-1 a try!” Link
“Moog MG1 analog synthesizer for sale
in used condition but all functions work. keys are even and all work correctly. both oscillators work and all knobs turn and all sliders slide. it has the moog filter, oscillator sync and ring modulator” Link
“You are responsible for reading this entire description and all terms( no excuses or exceptions) !
Vintage Realistic MG-1 Concertmate keyboard for parts or repair. It makes some noise but the controls do not respond correctly and are all screwed up. It also has a lot of rust on the connectors and may have rust inside. It is being sold as pictured in “AS IS” condition with no returns.” Link
“Up for sale is a vintage Moog Realistic Concertmate MG-1 Analog synthesizer. Please read carefully. The included youtube video at the end of the auction page showed the performance of the synth prior to being disassembled, as this was a project I decided to try. There were a few things that were not working, or needed adjustment. Some of the B notes were intermittent. After the video was taken, I took it apart, and cleaned the interior up. I have removed most, if not all of the infamous foam in this unit.I have all the parts that were removed. The unit still functioned after cleaning, and in the disassembled state, but I did not thoroughly test it out. There will still need to be some work done, and some further cleaning will be required as well. You are buying this synth with the understanding that it is a project. I don’t think its in too bad of a shape though. There is some knicking of the power cord wire, but I think all that’s needed there is some electrical tape” Link
