“This item does have wear, it was actually used for recording for a long period of time. The tempo’s are hand written around the tempo knob. I do not have the DC power adapter and it is missing the cover for the battery compartment.
However, this item functions perfectly. It’s a vintage item in vintage condition but no worse for the wear as far as function is concerned. ” Link
Lovely acid box Synth Sequencer, sort of sh101 tb303 cross. Sounds ace and programming style is pretty nifty, lends itself well to Acid and Dance music.Check out Youtube if your not already familiar with it. Also has the Analogue Solutions Modular retrofit” Link
“Roland MC-202 in excellent condition, Japanese version. Cosmetically it looks fantastic, and functions 100%. Comes with the power supply, and also runs on batteries. ” Link
“Roland MC-202 MicroComposer Vintage Synth – Excellent Working Condition
100% Fully functional – just tested it
Looks good no major cosmetic flaws.
100% feedback you should be happy with this vintage synth
Woke on batteries but I will include an aftermarket A/C adapter” Link
“Roland MC 202 Micro Composer – 2 channel CV Gate Sequencer.
This unit is in excellent condition. I’ve never run off of batteries but the compartment looks pretty clean.
I’ve owned this unit for a year and it’s in excellent condition. All buttons, dials and sliders are clean and crackle free.
The LCD screen is clear and clean and easily readable.
I’ve used this :
To sequence bass lines on it’s external synth (which is basically an SH 101 without the noise generator but with pre-delay on the LFO).
To program a second sequence to drive an SH-101 using CV Gate.
To sync with a TR 606 – using the 606 as the master.
To sync with a XOXBOX – using the 202 as the master
All of the above at the same time.
It’s an awesome bit of kit as you are essentially getting a 2 track CV gate sequencer, a DIN SYNC junction box and SH-101 all rolled into 1 relatively small little box.
The sequencer is very quirky to program but that’s all part of the fun – and the slide functionality allows you to sequence acid bass lines without spending thousands on a 303!
Comes complete with Box, Manual and Roland power supply.” Link
“The MC-202 is a classic analog synth. Its sound is similar to that of an SH-101 but has a built in step sequencer instead of a keyboard and no noise oscillator. ” Link
”
I am parting with a number of vintage analog synths from my studio.
This is my second Roland MC-202. The first unit sold very quickly. When this unit goes that’s it (I don’t have any others).
The MC 202 Micro Composer is an evolved form of the TB-303 with better programming and SH-101 like controls. It features one voltage controlled oscillator with simultaneous saw and square/pulse-width waveforms. The ability to mix in the sub oscillator at 1 or 2 octaves below makes this a killer bass line maker. The unit is portable and can be operated from batteries or an external power supply. In terms of circuitry, it is nearly identical to the SH-101 synthesizer but lacks the noise generator, choice of LFO shapes and modualtion/pitch bend controls. However, unlike the SH-101, it does include a delay on the LFO. The sequencer is actually a 2-channel CV/gate sequencer, with both channels being capable of driving a separate external synth. It’s a very useful unit, also, for its DINsync capabilities; it can receive on one port, and send over two, and also can ‘split’ DINsync to branch a sync signal out to multiple devices. This machine is best for those who want to get 303-like patterns (it has accent just like the 303) and basslines with an SH-101 sound. It has been used by Future Sound Of London, The Human League, Underworld, Aphex Twin, and many other artists.
I am the original owner. The unit is in near mint condition. There is a light scratch above the Source Mixer.” Link
“Collectors take note – Up for your consideration is a vintage Roland MC 202 in like new condition!
I am the 2nd owner of this great little synth and am sad to see it go, but I am trimming my studio setup down. The 202 sounds just like a SH 101, but with accent capabilities! Add some distortion and you can sound nastier than a TB 303.
This auction includes :
the MC 202 unit- everything works great.
Original box (including Styrofoam padding)
Original power supply
Original Operators Manual
Original Patch Book
Kenton 4 socket upgrade (not installed) – I ordered this, but never installed it. If you are handy with soldering it’s an easy install, or you could get your tech to install it.” Link
“Here is an opportunity to own a barely used ROLAND MC-202 SYNTHESIZER
I bought this unit brand new way back in 1984 ,but it didn’t take long for me to realize I was not cut out to be a programming musician.
This MC-202 has basically been unused since those days,I may have turned it on less than half a dozen times until now.
I believe my photos show this vintage unit to be an exceptionally clean example.
The battery compartment is spotless and I don’t recall ever loading batteries into it.
All knobs, buttons, sliders are tight/non scratchy, the unit is fully functional both sound and programming wise.
Please note that in the Envelope section ,the Release slider on the far right of the unit does not align perfectly straight up as the others do.
The slider has been that way since day one of ownership and does not adversely effect operation…I personally did not want to risk trying to straighten it out.
My MC-202 would be a perfect blank palette for those electronic musicians who might want to have it modded exactly as they desire.
This unboxed unit is offered “as is” along with the PSA-120 power supply.
Thanks for looking and please feel free to ask questions.” Link
“I am selling a Roland MC-202 MicroComposer. It has been looked after with care for many years and is in full working order. No crackly pots or sliders. Clean keys and buttons.
It does have 2 tiny blemishes- a small crack on the back left-hand corner and a scratch on the side. (As illustrated in the photos)
Apart from that the unit is in excellent cosmetic condition. The battery compartment is amazingly clean and still has the original battery cover.
Also included is a BOSS power supply and the Original Manual which, apart from a name written on the front, is also in excellent condition.” Link
“Roland MC-202 MC202 with brand new power supply – Just serviced by Emis Music in Bristol
A few marks on it, writing on bottom, and a small piece of plastic from the corner, nothing that makes a difference to the wonderful warm analogue timbres you can get from this beast!!!
Take a look at the pictures please as this is what you’ll get….. ” Link
“Selling this original Roland MC-202 MicroComposer. Analog synthesizer like the SH-101 with added sequencer.
Item is in mint condition, all slider caps and key buttons 100% original.
The user manuals are still in a unopened sealed plastic bag!!! the factory data cassette is sealed to!!!
It is allmost impossible to find such original items in unused condittion…Simply amazing.
This MC-202 package comes with:
Original Roland box
Sealed Roland MC-202 data cassette.
Sealed user manuals.
Original Roland jack cable in plastic bag.
MC-202 in original plastic cover with 2 styrofoam holders.” Link
Classic 2-channel cv/gate sequencer with built in analog monophonic synthesizer
Sharing near identical synthesizer features as the matching SH-101 it can be made to sound very similar so phat analog synth sounds abound and it is way more versatile than the much compared TB303 as a groove instrument and a great synthesizer in its own right.
The MC202 features SH-101 like slider controls for VCO with simultaneous sawtooth and square/pulse waveforms with sub and sub-sub oscillator for bass tones that have no right to sound as deep and phat as this from such a small box! Fully resonant and classic Roland analog filter, VCA, LFO, ADSR & Gate Envelope and Mixer Sections. All this is a neat, compact and lightweight package that can run on batteries if ultra portability is your thing.
The built in micro-composer style sequencer with LCD display is actually a dual channel CV/Gate step/real time sequencer and song composer so can drive other cv/gate gear simultaneously and shares many of the complex song writing and editing functions of the infamous and now much more rare and expensive MC4 micro-composer. This machine pre-dates MIDI but has plenty of analog sockets for hooking up to your other synths or cv modules, DIN/Tape-Sync for synchronization and can load & save memory to tape (or use your sampler or digital multitrack) so you never have to lose your favourite sequences.
There is no denying it wasn’t as popular as the much more common SH101 when it was released (not as unpopular as the TB303 though which was Rolands worst selling instrument ever!!!) and so now is much rarer especially so in such good condition as this one and increasingly harder to find as folk are now realizing what an absolute gem this synth is. Prices are rising for these classic synths… get yours now!
This unit is completely as original, no modifications or missing parts and is in excellent cosmetic and electronic condition and probably as near mint as you are ever likely to see these days having only ever been used at home, never gigged and kept in a non-smoking pet free home studio environment. It also comes complete with it’s original box and 9v wall wart power supply. Sadly there is no original manual but a PDF copy of the original user manual can be downloaded from the internet and I will email my copy to the buyer along with service notes and schematics. There are also plenty of sites on the web giving details about fitting MIDI, modifications and user groups but try here for starters… ” Link
“I have owned this since approx 1990 and it has had little use and in good condition, I did a quick check through its various functions, knobs and sliders and they are all in working order. I play music as opposed to program so its time for someone else to make use of it. Please note there is slight damage to the left corner by the power input (see 2nd photo), it does not affect the playability of the machine in any way.
I have a photocopy of the original manual that I obtained from Roland some 20 years ago but no original power supply or box. I will send without power supply (as I use it on other things), they can easily be bought from ebay or at argos (argos highly reccomended). The unit will be securely packaged for postage with insurance.” Link
“Roland MC-202 for sale in great condition with original manuals. Does not include power supply. I want someone else to enjoy this. If you are itching for one of these pic this on up and you will be happy.” Link
“Classic Roland analogue synthesiser / sequencer. Used but in great condition with original instruction manuals and comes in original box. Power supply has been replaced.” Link
“Classic MC-202 for sale in great condition with original manual. If you’re reading this then you probably know all about the machine so please bid for your chance to own a piece of dance music history.” Link
“Bring it in close for the real thing!
Auction includes Roland MC-202 and power supply (not origional but correct 9vdc tip negative).
This baby is in really nice shape, fully funtional with all sliders, knobs, etc.. not missing anything. Battery compartment is clean and appears unused. Only the portamento pot shaft is slightly bent but properly functioning, velcro added to bottom and some tape residue on the right side of top (see pics).
Sounds wonderful, no crackling, all sliders clean, comes from a pedigreed Detroit music producers personal collection and has been lightly (if at all) used for 15+ years.
as-is electronics but guaranteed is fully working, totally thouroughly checked. ” Link
“For sale is a Roland mc 202 analog synth/sequencer. It’s like a cross between a tb303 and an sh101. It has recently been recapped. There is something wrong with the resonance control – it won’t go to full resonance so it will have to be adjusted or repaired to get all possible squelchy sounds. Everything else works perfectly except the previous owner removed the battery terminals for some reason so it won’t work off of batteries without some work. great classic synth in a small package and can definitely be used as is” Link
“I’ve had this from new since I bought it back in the 80′s. It is in very good condition, home studio use only. Power supply included (it also runs off batteries – not included). No visible damage or discolouration and in full working order (see images).” Link
Cosmetic condition is excellent/near mint–no chips on corners etc
100% working -on batteries and power
(With Original BOSS PSA 240V power supply)
Killer unit used in classics like LFO – LFO (Warp)” Link
“Great sounding Analog synth… not the easiest unit to program but sounds fat and we used this for years with a readily available
Midi/CV converter that allowed us to trigger it from Logic/Cubase etc. There are lots of videos on YouTube that demo this unit.” Link
“google Roland MC-202 for tons of info on this classic synth. I’d rather have the money and let someone have it who will use it all the time. I bought it new in the 80′s. It is in great condition and looks much better than the picture that I took with my web cam. All the knobs are there and they all function and it sounds great. I’ll miss it.” Link
“What is it?
Welcome to the sale of my much-cherished MC-202, the classic Roland analogue synth and sequencer, which I have owned from new. This was my 18th birthday present in 1984 and has been very well looked after. I can’t imagine there are many 1-owner 202′s out there now!” Link
“I am selling my roland mc 202 synthesizer. It is in excellent working condition.
I made a demo for this auction, that can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4s3TgZfKQbs
This auction DOES include the manuals, and a pdf photocopy of the manuals that I made, as well.
I will ship anywhere in the world, so long as the buyer pays for it.
I will also include the datacassette, which I did not photograph.” Link
“Condition is good considering its age. There is a slight smudge on LFO insignia. One screw is missing from the bottom. The battery compartment is clean. The main problem is that several of the rubber keys do not (easily) return from their aperture when depressed. However, this does not affect playing the 202; sound does not continue once you remove your finger from the key. (See photographs.)
I recently played the 202, and it is working fine; I have never had any problems with it. None of the sliders/knobs crackle. I do not have the manual or box, and it is provided without a power supply.” Link
“For sale we have a heavily modified Roland MC-202 analog synthesizer. This is a classic Roland monosynth with a built in sequencer (similar to the TB-303 and SH-101)
This particular MC-202 has been modified with the same features as detailed here (with the exception of MIDI input): http://www.subatomicglue.com/202l0g/
The extra features are: CV/GATE/CUTOFF/PULSEWIDTH/PORTA/VOL/ACCENT/MOD/VCFINSERT/VCAINSERT.
The SPDT (on-on) toggles control PW (CV/INT), CUT (CV/INT), VCFMOD (CV/INT), ACC (VCA+F/VCA)
Having a proper CV input allows external control without stepping and lagging, which was problem with the factory CV input that runs through the MC-202 CPU.
Cosmetically the unit is in good shape. The switches mounted on the front panel are not the most beautiful installation and they cause the case to be raised in that area a bit.” Link
“Excellent condition. 100% working.
100% phat and analog. Sounds like a tb-303 and an sh-101.
The only thing to note is the two front corners have some wear…
nothing major, no abusejust normal use.. battery compartment and lid is awesome!
AC adapter is included. runs on batteries which is pretty sweet!
no manual, but its a free download!” Link
“The MC-202 is in amazing condition for its age. I would rate it 9.5/10. There is no yellowing, cracks or scratches on the unit. The only flaw I can find is a slight stain on the bottom (see pic).
Comes with Box, after market power supply (also runs on battery), output jack, original data cassette tape. Instructions are not present, but are available for download from Roland” Link
“For sale here is an unmodified Roland MC-202 Microcomposer in beautiful condition which I’ve enjoyed owning and using over the last 3 years. This unit is in excellent condition and functions flawlessly. As with the majority of Rolands ‘Legend’ synths the sound of the MC-202 is awesome; somewhere between the TB-303 and SH-101. If you’re unsure of what this machine is capable of check out the links above or see what other owners have done with theirs on Youtube. ” Link
“ROLAND MC-202 IN IMMACULATE CONDITION. COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL BOX AND MANUAL [UNFORTUNATELY IN JAPANESE ONLY] BUT INSTRUCTIONS CAN BE EASILY FOUND ON THE INTERNET. I WILL INCLUDE BOSS PSA-240 POWER SUPPLY. MORE PICS AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.” Link
Link
“I’ve gone back and forth about selling this beast but it has to go, and it’s priced to sell this time.
Up for auction is a Roland MC-202 synthesizer and cv sequencer. It’s in great shape and was moded by Synhouse with their Midijack, which allows the 202 to be played/sequenced with midi.
You basically now have an sh-101 in a midi-controllable module. The midi sits in the battery compartment so you won’t be able to put in batteries. It does not function as a cv-to-midi converter, you can use it in midi mode (no cv output) or the standard cv mode if you want to use its internal sequencer to out put CV.” Link
“This is a Roland MC-202. Everything works and its only cosmetic defect in the smudge next the the tempo pot common to a lot mc-202. It sounds incredible. It is like an sh-101 without the noise sound but with a better sequencer, 2 cv\gate out and one cv gate in as well as 2 din sync out and one dinc in.” Link
“MC 202 Bass synth in Mint condition all 100 percent, no crackly pots, no external damage, no battery leakage. Comes with manual.
This is an analog synthesizer/sequencer. Quite rare only 20,000 units were produced
As these old machines run on DC power, they will work on either 110v or 240v
The MC202 is basically a sh 101 minus the noise oscillator. The sequencer on the 202 is allot more powerful than the 101.” Link
“Roland MC-202 up for auction with power supply. Everything works great except the headphone jack. It cuts out unless held to the side, but all it needs is to be resoldered. As you can see in the photo there is a blemish on the front next to the MC-202 label. Besides these minor things it sounds and works great. It is very stable and can be powered by batteries which as you can see the compartment is acid free.” Link
The machine is in very good condition and was never gigged. When I bought it several years ago it was serviced by Roland. The top half of the case is new, so no scraches here. It comes with the original manuals, and some photocopied sound sheets. There are no cables, and no power supply.” Link
“Roland MC-202 Microcomposer Vintage Analog Synth and Sequencer.
Excellent sound, excellent shape.
Sequence your SH-101, sync your TR-808, emulate a TB-303, or just go mad on it.
Includes original manual, power adaptor, and data cassette” Link
“Hi, I am selling my Roland MC 202 Synth, the reason being it is too good condition for me to use and i cant gig it for that reason.
The synth its self is in great condition all 100% no crackles, no problems at all. It comes with the original box and the two original manuals which are also in amazing condition. The box still contains the polystyrene to support the synth and it still has the plastic wrapper which the synth came in” Link
“For sale is this well sought after Roland MC 202 Snthesizer.
I am selling this for my brother. I know very little about it.
This unit has hardly been used as my brother bought it with a friend of his and his friend has moved away.
I have plugged the unit in and with head phones checked that there is no crackling or interferance with any of the sliders or controls.
The unit comes with original box, manual and a power supply.” Link
“Roland MC 202, TOP Zustand, kein Knacksen, Original Verpackung und Tasche, Beschreibung, Netzteil, rar. Über das Gerät braucht man nicht viele Worte verlieren, darüber gibt es Netz ausreichend Informationen, halt SH 101 und Sequenzer in einem Gerät. Nichtraucher” Link
“A few little marks etc worst shown in photos. No serial sticker for some reason. All Original, no mods.
Does a very good 303 imitation and sounds great doing it’s own thing.
All functions tested and working.
Did I mention it sounds great?.
Use this to control another 2 external CV/Gate synths(one will play the same as the 202, the other something else), and synchronise with 2 Din sync drum machines for example, at the same time.
Will provide a good quality power supply with this(not original), but it works from batteries fine.
No manual. Will send a pdf and any other interesting MC-202 stuff to the winning bidder” Link
“Up for grabs today is a wonderful and quirky member of the Roland synth family, the MC-202. It was first sold in 1983 and has a classic analog sound to match.
This particular unit is in great condition except for some cosmetic damage to the plastic casing where it has cracked off on the corner (shown in the photo). Runs off standard 9v dc adapter you can grab anywhere or else 6 ‘C’ size batteries (9v adapter not included sorry!)
Highly similar to the SH-101, it features an lfo with rate and decay, vco with pulse, sawtooth and sub osc which can mixed independently (one of the creamiest pulse-width modulation sounds ever due to the sine-wave lfo as opposed to the SH-101 triangle lfo) then vcf with the usual trimmings and one ADSR envelope (you can change the vca to gate and use the envelope just for the filter). I would recommend downloading the manual from the Roland website and reading through if you’re super keen to figure out the whole layout – happy to answer any questions!
OK sorry if you’re new to synths and that made no sense – in short this is a classic synth design and it sounds just as great as it should!
Throw the filter res all the way up with the keyboard tracking on and get some ridiculous sub bass or use the sawtooth and sub osc for some dirty octave action, also does some really beautiful ambient style sounds due to the curtis-chip design (there are some great youtube vids showing off some of the capabilities – have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2HiArlfDOI)
Where this synth really gets awesome is in the sequencer and you can do some crazy acid style basslines by using the accent and slide functions.
Here’s an old video I did on youtube showing some of the more acid sounds you can get: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6Jd6IzEKaA
Don’t be fooled by it’s toyish looks, there are a ton of sounds this little thing can make. Hook it up to a midi/cv converter and you can add it to your sequencer or midi keyboard setup or just tinker away on the mini button keyboard!” Link
“AMAZING CONDITION MC-202 ROLAND ANALOG MICROCOMPOSER

SOUNDS AMAZING! LIKE A TB-303 YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED! ” Link
“For sale a rare Roland MC-202 MicroComposer.
A superb oppurtunity to aquire this rare piece. It is similar to the TB-303 and SH-101 synthesizers, featuring one voltage-controlled oscillator with simultaneous saw and square/pulse-width waveforms. Cosmetically it is in excellent condition considering it’s age. Comes with PSU and original manual” Link
“Pristine condition, boxed with manuals.
In perfect working order.” Link
“Roland MC202 Fully functional. Includes power supply and a printed and bound manual.
This is a classic roland XOX macine. Actually quite fun to program. Its different but easy, makes you think in new ways. God for coming up with unique sequences, and of course you know that it has 2 sequences available at all times so you can drive another analog wynth with this as this one plays its own sequence. If you have a CV/Gate keyboard or sequencer, you can program it through that too, opening up a whole new world of possibilities…nice integration indeed for an analog studio… A great classic sound as heard on alot of songs (check youtube for people covering these songs iwth this synth) Ballsy bass with its -1 or -2 suboctave. great useable LFO range and nice resonant filter.
There is a bit of green paint on the top left corner as shown in the third picture along with some clear paint as you can see. Overall though it looks fine, is very clean and functionally is great. Would be a good candidate, due to it not being mint, for a bunch of mods. Which are easy and widely documented. This synth is missing the battery cover, but these are availalbe easily on ebay.” Link
“**FAULTY** Roland MC-202 MicroComposer **FAULTY**
The item makes a loud humming noise whilst pressing the notes.” Link
“Roland MC-202 in 100% working condition and exellent cosmetic condition. No yellowing of the key pads. There’s the occasional minor scratch on the bottom, but it’s so minor that I can’t even get it to show up fully in the pics. Comes with original power supply and manuals.” Link
“Roland mc 202 for sale. Great little piece of kit which has been well looked after. Comes with power (not original).” Link
