“Up for bid is the Sequential Circuits Max synthesizer. Is is in good working order. It is missing one of the buttons but, this said button is still functional by depressing with a pencil eraser/pen cap etc. or you could switch it with one of the other buttons you use less. Comes with power supply.” Link

“Up for auction is a used Sequential Circuits Max 620 digital synthesizer (serial number #00099) which we have in our store as a consignment piece. As this is on consignment it is being sold as is. Also included with the auction are the following manuals/literature: MAX Operation Manual and Max Midiguide. The original power adapter is also included.

I have spent a good amount of time with this keyboard to test it out and everything should be functioning properly. All keys and other function buttons located at the top toggle properly and make contact without hesitation. All keys press quite smoothly and do not get hung up on one another. Start/Stop/Recording etc. functions appear to be working as intended along with the voices. There is some cosmetic wear to the unit which can be seen in the pictures above but this has not affected the overall operation of the unit itself.” Link

“Sequential Circuits MAX Model 620

and

Commodore SX-64 Executive Computer

You are looking at a “combo” auction for a Sequential Circuits MAX Model 620 and a Commodore SX-64. We purchased the keyboard, computer and extras from one customer who used the whole system, and it would be a shame to split them up.

The Sequential Circuits MAX 620:

It is in excellent condition with hardly any wear on it at all. All keys are fully functional and all buttons work perfectly. There are a couple of small scratches on the chassis, but nothing worth a close up. The original power supply is included, as well as the MAX MIDIGUIDE and the MAX Operation Manual.

The Commodore SX-64:

Is also in excellent condition. Cosmetically it is pretty spectacular with only some minor scratches on the “lid” which doubles as the underside of the keyboard. It even has the original packing material wrapped around the handle. The Commodore seems to work perfectly. (I was able to remember how to load a program… but that’s about as muich as I remembered.) The computer keyboard is in good shape, although some keys need to be struck straight on to trigger. This may be an easy fix with some contact cleaner, but I’m not sure. The serial cable to connect the keyboard to the computer/monitor is included.

The Extras:

The disks: All disks will come in the included disk library box, unless marked “with original packaging”.

” This is the not-well-known, but highly underrated Sequential Circuits Inc. (SCI) MAX, also known as the CM620B. This guy first hit the market in 1984 and was one of the first MIDI keyboards to be able to send & receive information on all MIDI channels. It has six voices, single oscillator + optional white noise per channel, capable of triangle, sawtooth and square (pulse) waves with Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) using the Curtis SENTE CEM3394 synth chips with internal ADSR volume envelope filters. Each voice also has its own ADSR 4-pole voltage controlled filters, capable of extremely high resonance when desired. There’s a sequencer that can store two banks of up to 500 notes each. It has 80 factory preset voices such as organs, strings, woodwinds and classic synths, as well as 20 user voices, which reset when power cycled. Although control from the keyboard itself is rather limited, pitch bend and mod functions are available using an external controller such as another keyboard or MIDI sequencer. When hooked to a proper MIDI controller, computer or even it’s big brother, the Sixtrak, worlds of new options appear, allowing the user to create entirely new sounds from scratch. Although it’s a mono, polyphonic synth, there’s two RCA outputs and a stereo headphone output (which I use use to plug into an amp). Check out this video for real examples on some of this synth’s capabilities.

Software for controlling the MAX using an excellent GUI is available here. http://www.gcmstudio.com/max/synlib6trak.zip
That’s a lot more than what was available to me when I first discovered the MAX over 20 years ago.

This is the B-revision of the MAX, which as far as I can tell, simply mutes the output automatically when self-tuning. In the time I’ve owned this great little instrument, I’ve given it a couple of good, thorough cleanings and fixed a minor ground issue. There’s been no other issues that I’ve discovered. There’s some worn print, scratches, a little rust, but nothing that harms the function of the keyboard. I’m parting with it because I got the opportunity to buy a Prophet for a great price and need the money to cover it.

Included is the original 8VAC power supply (please don’t try to use a 9VAC supply, it’ll slowly ruin the keyboard over time), user manual and the incredibly valuable MIDI guide that teaches all of the MIDI commands and hidden functions.” Link

“selling this for a friend. its an all analog synth with midi in and out. comes with power supply and a vintage hard shell fender guitar case that it happens to fit in.” Link

“This MAX is pretty battered. There is rust on the case, about 4 of the keys are squished together and at least one is completely broken. It powers on, but I don’t have the correct 8v AC power supply so it tends to drift out of tune and output is noisy (actually crunchy is more appropriate).

If you like old, battered, noisy synths, this is is definitely for you. It has a 6 oscillators (3 more than a Mini-Moog!) and a bunch of other features that you probably already know about if your are considering purchasing this thing. ” Link

“For auction is this 1984 synthesizer made by Sequential Inc. Calif. USA. It’s a midi voice expander computer peripheral full synth keyboard with 49 keys.features full midi, rca out,headphone out which is what I used to go to the amp.Operation manual and midi guide books are also included,the demo song buttons were professionally removed to avoid accidentally being pushed during performance as it did for me once.however this did not effect the function of the keyboard except demo playback.” Link

“This listing is for a Sequential Circuits MAX synthesizer. The unit is untested as I have no power supply. This being said it is being sold AS IS with no warranties or returns allowed.” Link

“This great classic synth has seen a few gigs! But its fully working with the latest software. Please examine the pictures closely to check its condition

Comes with PSU and internet downloaded manual.” Link

“This listing is for a Sequential Circuits MAX Analog Synthesizer. This synth has a rich analog sound that can be edited via MIDI CC messages. The MIDI implementation for the keyboard is detailed in the MIDI Guide Book. The synthesizer works great. Cosmetically, the synth is in good condition except for a corner of the casing was damaged and repaired (see photos). The auction includes:

* Sequential Circuits MAX
* MAX Midi Guide
* Power Supply” Link

“Up for auction: vintage Sequential Circuits Max. This is a parts unit in poor cosmetic condition and unknown working condition. Use it for parts or just fix if it doesn’t work. I don’t have a power pack to test it so it may work. This unit is sold as is with no warranties or guarantees implied. ” Link

“Up for no reserve auction is (1) Sequential Circuits Max Synthesizer. This is a great vintage keyboard synth with that fat analog sound. It is in good working order with the only issue I can see is one white key has been chipped but is still functioning without any issues. This synth comes with both of it’s original operational and midi guide manuals, and the A/C power supply. It is being sold as is but seems to be functional but I am not a keyboard player or expert. ” Link

“rare, mint condition , fully functional SEQUENTIAL CIRCUITS MAX Fully functional with manual” Link

“- This unit has 2 missing buttons, some scratches & not ac power adapter. This instrument has been personally tested-powered up and checked for sound. ” Link

“I bought this Sequential Circuits MAX synth/controller back in 1986; I used it for a couple years to sketch ideas and make quick demos.

Since then it has sat in a closet and no longer makes sound.

In the spirit of recycling, I’m hoping someone can use it as a MIDI controller, a keyboard shell (to install your own synth inside) or for replacement parts: Thus the low starting bid.

Some collect the chips and use them for DIY synths, circuit-bending, and other projects, so this might be useful in that regard as well.

Details:
- Keyboard powers on, but does not produce any sound.
- All keys play evenly.
- When powered up, two of six track lights come on; patch number light does not light up.
- I don’t use MIDI, so I did not test whether it can send/receive MIDI data.
- All keys are present and work well.
- Unit is solid, mostly metal (sides & keys are thick plastic), and well-made with no cracks or dents.

You are bidding on:
- MAX keyboard, as is
- original manual + power supply” Link

“The unit is fairly old and has seen some use, see photos for condition. All keys and functions work. There is a sticker in the middle of the top case where I have written out some of the CC functions. ” Link

IMG_4954 “This listing is for a Sequential Circuits MAX vintage synthesizer. The unit is 100% functional and aside from a small chip on one of the corners is in nice cosmetic shape as well. It was just fully serviced and calibrated. Lightly used in a smoke free home studio.” Link

max “HIS SYNTH HAS BEEN RECOVERED FROM A LOCAL STORAGE AUCTION…APPARENTLY BEEN IN STORAGE FOR YEARS, OR EVEN DECADES. YOU CAN SEE THE PICS OF THE INSTRUMENT IN THE ‘ON’ POSITION. I PLUGGED IN SOME HEADPHONES AND THERE ARE ABOUT 80 SOUNDS TO CHOOSE FROM….SOME INTERESTING ALIEN SOUNDS TOO, WHICH MODERN SYNTHS ARE INCAPABLE OF PRODUCING. THERE ARE TWO RED DEPRESSOR BUTTONS MISSING WHICH WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. ALL IN ALL, IT IS IN PRETTY GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE. THIS SYNTH MAY NEED SERVICE OR REPAIR,
AND THUS IS BEING AUCTIONED STRICTLY ‘AS IS’..
USED WITH NO WARRANTY OR RETURNS, EXCHANGES, OR REFUNDS.” Link

max “this is a great little synth, a proper analogue sound and completely editable over MIDI, (I can supply a Logic template or give you the CC list for your own sequencer). Its condition is definitely used, but everything works and it has a recent new power supply. It currently has a sticker in the middle of the front panel which I’ve written some of the editing commands down on as a reminder, I can clean this off if the winner would like.” Link

“Welcome! You are bidding on a vintage analog, Sequential Circuits “Max” Synthesizer. I bought this synth brand new about 25 years ago. I love this keyboard and really hate to sell it. It’s just been wonderful to own. It’s solid as a rock, has truly great sounds, especially horns. The best thing is that it’s so easy to use, super simple. Plug in and you’re ready to go. Great multi-track recorder. Comes with original documentation, operation manual and midi guide.” Link

“Sequential Circuits MAX Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer Used but in very good condition. A few scratches on the metal case. Everything works and sounds perfect. Comes with original manuals and power supply.” Link
