The battery tests at full charge and buttons and ports work fine. Physically the unit is a 7/10 with some rack rash. One rack ear was bent when I bought the synth years ago. I bent it back and it sits in rack perfectly. Power cable is included, of course.” Link

The unit powers right on and goes thru all of the controls as it should, and I really do not have a way to fully test the unit, and it is sold as is. It is in very nice condition, with a few small scratches on the back corners and light type finish wear on the top, and the sides have a few small scratches. The front display is excellent, with no scratches, and the edges are nice and clean all around. The rack holes have no wear on them. “Oberheim Matrix 6r Analog Synth – this is the Rack mount version and may be used tabletop (as I did) or with rack ears (included and shown in the 6th picture below). There are 6 felt pads attached with adhesive to the bottom which can be easily knocked off if rack mounting is desired. I played this from a Novation SL II controller and can tell you that the combination, especially the responsiveness of aftertouch is terrific.
Also includes a CD with all 1100 Matrix 6/6r/1000 patches and pdfs of the manual for the Matrix 6 synth and a Patch list (shown in last pic).
Comes loaded with the “best of” patches installed (see right hand of the screen shot) for a great selection of Brass, Bass, Lead, Pads, etc.
I recently purchased a Matrix 6 Keyboard which uses the identical sound engine and interface, but in a 61 key format so I am selling this module (otherwise I would keep it). It has worked perfectly for me and is in very good condition as shown with just a few light scratches which are primarily on the top edge and on the rack ears.
The silkscreened parameter list is in perfect shape (as shown in the first picture). These are often scratched up.

You should know that the Matrix 6 only outpus stereo sounds when played in dual mode, otherwise in single mode
only ouptus in mono, this is explained in page 86 of the owners manual, there’s also patch mapping, note spillover, matrix
modulations and a lot more stuff. For those who know, I don’t need to tell you how FAT and punchy this thing sounds,
beats a lot of digital modern keyboards. Units come loaded with original stock sounds, did a fresh re-load, cassette
loads fine, everything works fine, buttons, levers, pedals, display, midi, L/R outputs, cassette interface, etc., etc..” Link

The Matrix-6R is the rack mount version of the Matrix 6, famously used by Philip Glass, Orbital, Future Sound of London, Mouse On Mars, and Tangerine Dream, among others. This synth features 6 voice polyphony with each voice having a pair of DCO’s (digitally controlled oscillator), a low pass filter, 2 VCA’s, 3 envelope generators, 2 LFO’s and 2 Ramp Gens.

“The sounds are simply amazing. This thing has balls that are bigger than a blue whale’s. It destorys my Korg MS 2000 in warmth. I am a complete tweaker and tend to stray away from factory presets but this box actually has incredible sounding presets. It does have quite a few sounds that I would never use but the other ones more than make up for it. I have only had it for a short time and I am shocked by its power. If you like duuuuuurty bass lines and lush warm pads, this is a great box.

Compared to today’s digital synths, it’s considered a bit dated, but it has the classic 1980s sound. It comes in very handy if you have a specific sound in mind, and need to create it from scratch.

This unit powers up OK but the display reads PWPPPPPPPP. I don’t know if you can use a computer editor to control the patches and settings, but it didn’t do much without an editor.
