“Up for sale is a restored 1960s/1970s Maestro Rhythm King MRK-1 analog drum machine- as used by Sly & The Family Stone. This unit is in very good cosmetic condition (Even the Tolex covering is perfect!) and has been fully tested to be in good working order. All rhythm presets work great, and all individual sounds work. I opened up this never-late-to-rehearsal replacement drummer to check the inside. Unlike your flaky drummer, this thing was clean and fresh inside. Absolutely no corrosion, loose parts, and basically no dust, either. I cleaned the switch and button contacts and otherwise serviced and inspected the whole thing. Save for the scratch on the face, this thing is in stunning, minty condition.”

“Up for sale is a restored 1960s/1970s Maestro Rhythm King MRK-1 analog drum machine- as used by Sly & The Family Stone. This unit is in very good cosmetic condition (I glued back some of the tolex that was peeling off) and has been fully tested to be in good working order. All rhythm presets work great, and all individual sounds work. You can combine rhythms with this drum machine to make your own funky beats. It includes the original start/stop footswitch (it’s permanently attached internally, but slides out the back along with the attached ¼” TS guitar cable and the U.S. 3 pin power cable.” Link

“Up for auction is my Maestro Rhythm King MRK-4 analogue drum machine in great condition. This is an analogue drum machine from the mid 1970s. It uses inductor coils or “tuned tanks” to produce its sound in a similar way to the Roland TR-77 and the Korg Mini-Pops.

It is quite rare especially in the UK and in this condition. All sounds work, all rhythms work and all sliders are nice and crackle-free. There are 10 sounds and 16 rhythms plus an intro/break feature. The rhythms can be combined as is typical with these older ‘diode matrix’ rhythm units. The two cymbal sounds have various decay amounts depending on the rhythms chosen ranging from a short maracas type sound to open high-hat.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“Up for auction is a vintage analog drum machine… the Maestro Rhythm Jester. This was given to me last year from a local studio who was just getting rid of things they mo longer needed. I personally have no need for it as all my drums come from Samplers or software. I will say this this machine sounds REALLY fat… the kick and snare are very lively and have punch and sizzle. Very cool for drum machine lovers out there. Every button and knob work. The TEMPO adjustor works but the light that blinks with the tempo is out… probably just needs a new bulb. ” Auction ended. “Up for sale we have a Vintage Maestro Drum Machine. The unit works great and makes individual sounds but the footswitch to start and start the beat is broken. You would need to replace the footswitch to get the beats to turn on. Selling cheaper because of this issue. The unit is clean and in great cosmetic condition. ” Auction ended. This auction is for an all-original Rhythm King Mrk-2 analog “beat box” drum machine by Maestro, a division of Gibson. Sly Stone is said by many to have considered this “funk box” a key to his sound! As posted on the internet, he purportedly used it throughout his classic album, “There’s a Riot Goin’ On.” The unit has been tested with an amp and all functions are working perfectly. Very clean original condition, as you can see from the images from virtually every angle. The auction includes the original footswitch and the cover, which is in good shape but has a tear at one of the back corners. This classic gives you an amazing array of rhythm combinations available at your fingertips. From the Bossa Nova and Bolero to Waltzes and Western, you are sure to find your sound on this thing, with individualized percussion like tom toms, blocks, cymbals, and more!” Auction ended.
