sb100 “As should be evident from the pictures, the whole tolex case is intact. It features the letters “TFHS” on the front in white. This is most likely from a high school band, and I do not know the origin. Functionally, it is in 100% working order, which still amazes me sometimes as it is 40 years old. I have owned and loved this synth for a number of years now. I am actually only letting it go to fund a new MS-20 purchase. It has a couple small tears in the tolex, as you can see from the photos. All rubber feet on the bottom are still present but two are missing from the side. The output jack is a little bit loose but has never given me any problems. Frankly, this synth is more solidly built and in better shape (no scratchy pots) than much newer keyboards that I own. There is one bent slider (see photos) but it works without any issue. Finally, there is also some rust pitting on the face, which is unfortunate but has not affected the functionality. All in all, it’s in great functional shape and decent cosmetic shape. It still looks super hip when you bust it out on stage. The second and third photos look different from the others because they were taken almost three years ago. I just included them for reference. ” Link

synthebass “I have owned this Korg SB-100 for the last 9 years. I found it at a local family owned music store after inquiring about their storage inventory of used gear. It had been stored in their used instrument room for at least 15 years, but plays perfectly!! It has spent the majority of the time I have owned it in my smoke-free, pet-free studio and made it’s way to a few other recording studios under my care. I also played 2 live performances with it. It has never had any issues. It sounds amazing. All knobs, switches and keys function properly and are still securely attached. Minor exterior scratches on the case as pictured above. Definite signs of use on the control panel paint but fully functional and well cared for.” Link

sb1000 “This keyboard is in semi-working order. This is the real deal. Vintage from 1975ish. I do not know the exact year, but my research shows it is around 1975. In perfect condition, I have seen these sell for $1500+.

I have excellent ratings as a seller and always give 100% my best description, so please read this carefully.

The action on the keyboard works perfectly.

There are two covers missing on two of the sliders for the attack and percussion. I am sure you can find replacements, but I do not have them.

A few years ago, this keyboard worked well. Today, every knob and slider still appears to work since they alter the sound in the appropriate way when they are adjusted.

HOWEVER, there are some major issues that need to be addressed. The sound is intermittent and even though all of the oscillators work, it is not in any way ready for studio or performance work without having a technician address these issues. I am assuming that all that needs to be done is have the pots cleaned really well since the sound seems to cut in and out when I adjust the parameters. The power seems to stay on perfectly.

The power cord is original in the vintage telephone coil shape. The input 1/4″ jack has been pushed in slightly, but still accepts cables in the way that it is supposed to.

If I was to keep this, I would have the power evaluated just for safety sake (though there are no known problems) and I would get an expert in vintage amps or keyboards to do a complete cleaning of the inside.

Please note that with some of these old keyboards, it may not be safe to open them on your own if you do not know how to service them. I have never opened this up.

With all of that being said, if you are looking for the real deal and to own a piece of history, this is your chance. There are no other issues other than what I stated and I do believe that the proper repair person can get this in working order. ” Link

korg synthebass “Up for auction is this very rare Korg SB100 Analog Synthesizer. It is recently cleaned and tuned and is in perfect working order! Sounds amazing! It’s super clean and almost mint, just the case is a little scuffed up. It is missing one slider cap but it doesn’t effect the function of the switch.” Link

“This unit is in great working condition and sounds incredible but has some wear on the outer cover (as pictured) and is missing some small parts (part of the case handle, some feet and some screws) none of which affects the sound. The outer cover does not fully close and is broken at some of the edges. Also the red light does not turn on when the unit is working. It was originally purchased in the late 70′s. Sold as is.” Link

“This is the extremely rare 1975 Korg Synth-Bass Model SB 100 K I have searched the internet and I have not found another example of this extremely rare keyboard synthesizer for sale. This professional instrument is no longer in production but is highly valued by fans of synth pop bands of the 1980s such as Soft Cell and the Cars.
The professional synth instrument comes with a cover that enables it to stand up and be transported like a suitcase. The volume, sustain and bright levers are missing so I cannot really test it but since it still lights up I get the feeling that it still functions and I know that the missing levers can be repaired but since I have not tested it I am selling it as is for parts.” Link

“Korg SB-101 Synthe-Bass: This machines is a supremely rare bass synth from the mid-1970s. Not only does it sound super cool, it is one of the best-looking keyboards ever made, in my opinion. The sweet two-octave keyboard and the classic Korg controls are housed in a very durable briefcase. Very James Bond and very very very rare. This unit is in good condition. While showing minor wear, and a few screws on the case were replaced, it is still the best condition Synthe-Bass I have ever seen. Of course, it words perfectly. This unit is the Japanese edition but it comes with a power adapter. It gets better. This machines was originally lacking cv/gate, midi (of course) or any other method of control other than your hands. Thanks to my tracking down of the schematics and passing them to the powers-that-be at Synhouse years ago, this unit has a midi adapter professionally built into it.” Link

“Korg’s Synthe-Bass (model SB-100) is a small 2-octave monophonic bass synth that has a very fat sound. It has one oscillator, an AD Envelope and a low-pass filter. No LFO, no arpeggiators or sequencers and certainly no memory. Small and portable, it comes in a brief-case design. Unlike many portable synths of the time, it features full size keys.” Link

“Rarely Available. Collectible Synth.

Just had it cleaned and set up @ Mtroniks for your perfect, stress-free purchase.

Lou Barlow said this is his favorite synth in a documentary. Also favorites for bands like Soft Cell and Cars, etc.
