Up for sale tonight is a nice and rare analog drum machine from the late 70s or early 80s… this is one of the not-so-frequently-seen KORG KR-33 “RHYTHM 33″, made in Japan of course. it’s the older but bit smaller brother of the KR-55, which we see for sale more often than the 33′s. it’s almost the same thing, actually, but these are light gray in color, 16 rhythm-select buttons and the 3 colored buttons to select the rhythms from either the orange, black or green “selection”. so it’s basically 16×3= 48 sounds/rhythms available. but you can also push 2 of the gray buttons at the same time… AN UNIVERSE OF POSSIBILITIES!!! oh yeah!
the unit is 100% original, 100% fully functional (i mean “working”) and nice sounding. brings back good memories… heh. it has a little “knick” in the gray part over the buttons, but nothing that would affect its correct functioning.
this unit even comes in its original carton packaging/box, which is in kinda rough shape, but still nice for collectors and/or people with that kinda “vintage nostalgia”.
also included is the original on/off “trigger” footswitch. – but really, other than those small “bumps” on top, it’s in REALLY nice shape.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.
Power cord is in great condition too. There is one light scratch on the face that can easily be touched up and you’ll have one fine piece of music gear history. These are a rare item these days…especially this model.
Now if you’re thinking…Hmmmmm, didn’t I just see this for sale a month or so ago…well, YOU’RE RIGHT!!!!
Soooo, why is it for sale again???
I am not an electronics tech nor am I a music store. I’m just a vintage instrument hobbyist, but I try my best to test anything that I’m selling to the best of my ability. When I tested this for the first auction it was listed in, I used a very small peavey practise amp and it seemed fine. When it actually sold for well over $200.00 I was getting ready to package it for shipping, and like most items I sell, I tend to play with them one last time before shipping, knowing that I will likely never have one again. When I went to jam along with this machine before shipping, instead of plugging it into the little amp, I plugged it into my stage P.A. (Mackie 808s powered mixer) that plays though some decent JBL main and monitor speakers. I couldn’t believe it when I heard this terrible humming. I tried different cords and nothing changed. At that time, I had no choice but to let the winning bidder know that I had discovered a problem that I wasn’t aware of at first. I told them I would have it repaired fully and send it to them or they had the option to retract the bid…they chose the latter. I went ahead with the repairs (see photo) and it now has replaced capacitors and has been cleaned etc.and given a clean bill of health by a reputable electronics shop.” Auction ended.
