“Made in Japan by Korg in the mid-1980s, it’s a Korg Poly-800 synthesizer. Korg made the Poly-800 from about 1983 to 1987. It’s polyphonic.
It’s in fine cosmetic condition. At some point, the batteries leaked in it. I cleaned up the battery acid on the inside. It did not stain anywhere except the battery compartment.
It does not work properly. It does power up and produces noises. But they are very unmusical noises.
Except for me cleaning it, it has not been worked on. I sincerely believe it is all original and complete.
It comes with a replacement power cord adapter. It comes with a torn vinyl gig bag without a handle, but with working zipper.

“Korg Poly 800 synthesizer from 1983. Great condition for a 40 year old synth. As can be seen in the photos the DCO and Pitch Bend joystick top knob is missing, but the stick functions fully.

I have fitted a new internal button cell battery to prevent the loss of patches when powered off without the main D type batteries in place. This is one of two that I own and have brought back to life, but I’m going to be keeping the other one for my own synth collection.

Manuals are available online, as are a number of alternative user made patches. Patch files are in audio format and have traditionally been uploaded to the synth by tape. However, they can be transferred to the synth using free audio software such as Audacity and the appropriate audio file played into the Tape input by a 3.5mm jack lead.” Click here to visit listing on eBay

Just found this old thing! Korg Poly 800 that I modded quite some time ago.
I have checked and the filter mod seems to be working fine (pot for both cutoff and resonance), the data entry mod appears to be only changing values down.
The other mod for input I’m not sure about. All keys are working as is the joystick.

As you can see the filter knobs have been placed over the old graphics for program numbers, and that whole area has been plastidipped (rubber spray that is easily removed) which has some damage (easy to redo)

This is definitely a small project for someone. There are some holes made under near the keys where the screws have gone through the plastic (wrong screws used whoops and pictured)”

The joystick cannot be held in the middle because the spring seems to be off.

A great sounding early eighties original polysynth with six voices. Great condition.

This one is unmolested. There are a few well known DIY modifications possible if you’re any good with a soldering iron and a drill. I’ve preferred to leave mine unscathed.

Only one thing to be aware of: Pitch/Mod joystick only works in the Y (modulation) direction and does nothing when moved in the X (pitch) direction. This has never been an issue for me in the years I’ve had it as I’ve always controlled it remotely over MIDI.”

“Collectors item! There are plenty of these on the market but rarely do they come up in such superb condition.

Apart from a barely noticeable hairline scratch on the corner and a tiny nick in the joystick plate, also hard to spot, the keyboard is in really mint condition throughout. Please see extensive photos.

There is no wear around the volume knob or other controls, the display is mint, the plastics are possibly the cleanest and best condition you will find anywhere, both front and rear.

Comes with original power adapter, patches cassette tape, and the all important preload program list which includes patch data. Also this is in its original box!.”

“It was working till a week ago. Then the buttons became somewhat unresponsive. I’ve opened it to replace the battery and when it came on since. It now shows no life with either batteries or psu. Sold for spares/faulty – no turns.
