minikorg “Univox Mini-Korg 700 analog synthesizer- great cosmetic shape and appears to be fully-functioning. I’ve been going through this for the past few days and everything is very responsive and seems to be doing what it should. The only issue that I’ve noticed is that the volume pot is sometimes scratchy. This has been in my studio for the past fifteen or so years. I purchased it from Moogy Klingman, Todd Rundgren and Utopia’s principal keyboard man throughout much of the seventies. Moogy began using a Mini-Korg on Utopia’s second American tour in the spring of 1974 as an easier-to-use alternative to the Minimoog, and that became a mainstay of his live rig for the remainder of the seventies. It’s not a particularly sturdy design (many that you see have broken keys, missing sliders, et cetera) and Moogy was somewhat rough on his live gear, so him and Todd purchased the one that I eventually acquired to use exclusively in their Secret Sound studio. This was his main synthesizer used on the recording of the album “Todd Rundgren’s Utopia,” and Moogy told me that he specifically recalled using it all over “The Ikon” track. When Moogy sold his share in Secret Sound in the late-seventies, this was one of the few pieces of gear that he took with him.” Link

mini-korg” OFFERED FOR SALE IS A RARE, VINTAGE MINI-KORY UNVIOX SYNTHESIZER KEYBOARD. THE ITEM IS MADE IN TOKYO, JAPAN BY KEIO ELECTRONIC LAB CORP. I’M PRETTY SURE THIS IS A MODEL K-1. THE ITEM DOES NOT WORK. I PLUGGED IT IN AND PRESSED THE POWER BUTTON, BUT THE ITEM DOES NOT POWER ON. I LOOKED AT THE FUSE AND THE FUSE LOOKS OK (INTACT). I DID NOT TRY TO PUT A NEW FUSE IN. I AM NOT SURE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE ITEM. IT MAY BE AS A SIMPLE AS A SWITCH BUT I REALLY DON’T KNOW. THE ITEM IS WELL MADE OUT OF WOOD, METAL AND PLASTIC KEYS. ALL THE KNOBS AND SWITCHES ARE INTACT AND APPEAR TO MOVE PROPERLY. A COUPLE OF THE LONG SWITCHES ARE BENT BUT CAN BE EASILY BENT BACK (SEE PICS). ALSO, THE LAST WHITE KEY ON THE FAR LEFT IS DAMAGED (IT DOES NOT GO UP AND DOWN PROPERLY, SEE PICS). COSMETICALLY, THE ITEM IS IN OK CONDITION. THERE IS SOME MINOR WEAR ON THE WOOD SIDES. THERE IS A STICKER ON THE TOP OF THE ITEM. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS FACTORY ORIGINAL OR FROM THE PRIOR OWNER. ITEM NEEDS TO BE CLEANED. ESTIMATED AGE IS 1973. ITEM WEIGHS ABOUT 19 POUNDS. ITEM MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 29.25 INCHES LONG BY 10.25 INCHES DEEP BY 4.20 INCHES HIGH. A RARE FIND. ITEM SOLD “AS IS.” ALL SALES FINAL. OFFERED WITH NO RESERVE.” Link

minikorg“This is an early 70′s Univox Mini Korg synthesizer.
Beautiful sounding analog synth. Amazing filter.
The synth works but has a couple of issues.
Please make sure to read carefully before purchasing -

The output level is quite low so you will need to push some level in the pre amp / mixer. However, the synth will still maintain a pretty clean signal.” Link

minikorg“Purchased this at a flea market for my kid, who plays keyboard, but couldn’t get any real keyboard sounds out of it. When we plug it in the makes osculating tones when you press the keys, but the tones aren’t conventional sounds like a regular keyboard. Not sure if it needs repair or I’m just not setting the knobs right. Either way, it needs to go. I’m a single dad with 2 kids and a full time job, so have no time to go through lots of tests from experts (had that happen once before when I was selling another vintage item–exhaustive tests!) so this is an AS IS SALE. You buy it, you own it. Condition is so-so. Some scuffs and marks, and some of the knobs on the front are slightly bend, the rubber caps on the vertical adjustments are missing. Hopefully there are some vintage keyboard folks out there who will find a use for this thing. I need it out of my closet, so on Ebay it goes. Buyer pays actual shipping from 30683, so if you want to know price, calculate from this zip code to yours. I got no time for calculating costs all over creation. The box will measure 36 X 14 X 6 and will weigh around 35 pounds. US/Canada only. If I ship to Canada I will need to declare actual value for customs taxes, so factor that in. Thanks and happy bidding.” Link

” Here is your chance to add a cool little vintage synth to your collection or bring some retro sounds to your band. This analog monophonic keyboard can be used to generate some fat basslines, stinging leads, and your own personal Epcot Center soundtrack. A near-infinite number of desired noises can be produced by adjusting the various knobs, faders, and modulators.

I bought this old warhorse (or more like war pony) on eBay a decade ago and it has never let me down. Still in good working condition though it has been sitting unused on a shelf since about 2011. Aesthetically has some scratched off paint, chipped wood, little bends, and marks from normal usage. Check out the pictures to get a better idea.

The power cord is attached and folds up into a little compartment in the back (also pictured). The two holes on the top are for a little wire music stand that I was never in possession of.” Link

“Up for auction is this vintage 1970s Univox Mini Korg analog synthesizer. This was Korg’s first single oscillator monosynth, pre-dating the 700S by a couple of years. It doesn’t have every feature you would want in a synth but it is capable of producing some great sounds, especially basses and noise-esque sounds.

Starting on the control panel, from left to right, we have a master volume, and 2 horizontal sliders which represent the low and hi pass filters. It then has 2 sliders for “Attack” and “Percussion”. It has 5 octave ranges and triangle, square, and sawtooth waves, or a chorus mode. Further to the right are controls for expand, bright, sustain, bender, repeat, vibrato, delay vibrato, and portamento. The 4 sliders to the right control the vibrato and portamento. Lastly it has another pitch adjuster that can be used as a “slide” type effect.

This synth is in VERY GOOD condition for its age. The wood sides have a few small chips but overall all the veneers look nice. All keys, knobs, and sliders are accounted for with no cracks or breaks. Please see pictures too!

This synth has been cleaned and tested by our specialized synth technician and is guaranteed to be 100% functional.” Link

“You are bidding on a super awesome Univox Mini-Korg Synthesizer. The synth sounds incredible, and it is really fun to use. It plays well and sounds great. This synth is not in perfect condition but it is playable. The D key is cracked on top, but not underneath. The portamento slider is glitchy and sometimes makes all notes sound the same, a quick tap and it goes back to normal. This only happens with the portamento selected. Also the volume slider knob has been replaced.” Link

I plugged this into a more modern stereo and tried it out here is what I got. All keys played smoothly, every switch moved freely and seemed to change the sound, I did get quite a variety of sounds from the unit, although none sounded like a piano, this I assume is not intended to be a piano, but a synthesizer.” Link

” Vintage Korg Minikorg in excellent condition (see photos). As used by Greg Hawkes of the Cars, Vangelis, Kitaro (his favorite synth). I’ve had this in my setup for years but have no need of two of them.

The synth includes a professionally installed Kenton CV/Gate/Filter kit. Please Google Kenton’s website for details on which CV converters can trigger the synth with this Kenton kit. It triggers fine from my Kenton Pro-4. It would cost you over $200 to have this kit purchased and professionally installed.” Link

“Hi, I’m selling my Univox Mini-Korg K-1 Model 700 vintage analog synth. I not the original owner. The unit is in good working order. All the keys and controls/switches work fine. As you can see in the close up pic, one of the keys is slightly bent. It came like this when i received it from the previous owner. The key still works despite being a little uneven. I’m sure this could be fixed, though. The previous owner refinished the metal top section with a new sparkly finish that looks nice. He also replaced the wood panels with new ones. Under my care, it was used in my smoke-free, air-conditioned studio and i think it is in very good cosmetic condition for its age.” Link

“Hey Guys,

Here is my favorite mono synth , the MiniKorg 700s.

I had big plans for this guy! But I’ve needed to not bite off more than I could chew of new products and repairs, so the Synth Spa can get back on track with normal repair times.

So, I must practice catch and release and let this guy back into the world.

This guy works! From top to bottom. He is cosmetically challenged and some of the sliders move slow. That’s it! We have already rebuilt everything to the best of our ability. Everything else is awesome . He sounds great too!

I’m selling for parts or repair just to protect myself from parts swappers.

Again, this unit functions perfectly with the exception of what was mentioned above.” Link

” SUPER RARE MINI KORG 700 SYNTHESIZER FROM 1973, IN FULL WORKING ORDER AND CUSTOM FLIGHTCASED.

THIS WAS THE FIRST SYNTH KORG MADE, AND PRE DATES ALL THE OTHER CLASSIC SYNTHS THAT CAME FROM THEM.

I HAVE IT ON GOOD AUTHORITY THAT THIS USED TO BELONG TO BOBBY HEATLIE AND WAS USED TO WRITE THE 1980′S NUMBER 1 HIT “JAPANESE BOY” BY ANEKA FOR THOSE THAT ARE INTERESTED, SO IT’S GOT SOME HISTORY BEHIND IT!

PLEASE SEE THE PHOTOGRAPHS TO GET A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WONDERFUL PIECE OF SYNTH HISTORY.

IT IS FULLY WORKING COMPLETE WITH THE FOLLOWING QUIRKS; VOLUME SLIDER IS A BIT CRACKLY SO PROBABLY NEEDS A CLEAN, AS DOES THE PERCUSSION SLIDER. THERE IS A CHIP ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE D2 KEY BUT THIS DOES NOT AFFECT THE PLAYABILITY, AND ALSO THERE IS A FAG BURN ON THE A3 NOTE, AGAIN THIS DOES NOT AFFECT THE PLAYABILITY, JUST ADDS TO THE CHARM!!

THERE ARE THE USUAL WEAR MARKS AROUND CERTAIN KNOBS, THIS IS SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS FOR CLOSER INSPECTION.

PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING” Link

“Unixox Mini-Korg K-1 Synthesizer 700, serial # 1359. Made in Japan early 70′s by Keio Electronic Tokyo Japan. Got this with Hammond Organ purchase.I don’t know too much about this unit really, but what I understand very popluar in the ’70s ’80s with bands like The Cars,Kitaro & Vangelis to name a few. The unit is clean with no broken, or chiped keys see pictures. All knobs & slider knobs are orignal and in good condition see pictures.Did touch up the end block wood,it had with few chips nothing to bad see pictures.I did remove top metal panel in order to clean and inspect the keys, also looked at electronics, appear all original with no boken wires or old repair see pictures, but I did not totally disassemle the unit to look under the keys,I’m simple not qualified tech to do so. Did plug the Mini-Korg to my bass amp, and this does a lot of Syntheriszer sounds & option. I only noticed little scratch noice in some of the setting, believe it’s a easy to fix with Detox sprayed to the pots, but I leave that up to you. This is uniq Synthersizer, but this unit is 40 years & I cannot guarantee it’s working like new when it came out in 1974. Sold as is. ” Link

“Up for auction we have this beautiful Minikorg 700, made in Japan and imported recently from Sheffield, United Kingdom (240v electrics). Apparently this is Korg’s first synthesizer and the first to be made in Japan!

It is in great condition for it’s age (40 years old), cosmetically it is very good with a few scratches and a very little flaking as can be seen in the photos. The woodwork is excellent. It has a full compliment of original knobs and sliders. It has two oscillators that offer triangle, sawtooth and square waveforms, and three ring modulators for sounds and noises; said Vintage Synth Explorer. There are some analog effects built in such as portamento, a repeat-delay, bender, vibrato and chorus waveforms.

This model of synthesizer was used by Reproduction and Travelogue era Human League, also by The Cars, Kitaro and Vangelis. For such a small synthesizer it has a fantastic range of sounds, all with the classic 1970′s flavor. The depth and richness of tone can’t be emulated by modern virtual analogs, like the Microkorg.

This synthesizer will be shipped safely in an original 1970′s custom built flightcase which is heavy and solid, lined with soft and padded green, furry velour.” Link

“This machine plays flawlessly and sounds HUGE!! Many fun options to play with which, offers up all kinds of creativity!
You’ll find it hard to exhaust the uses of this machine! The only “flaws” are cosmetic being: One key has a repaired crack and one other key has a small cig burn on it (see pictures). These were present when I purchased this many years ago. These things are only cosmetic and do not affect the performance of this great synthesizer! There’s also just a few scratches on the wooden end cheeks and metal under the keys, very minor though. I kind of hate letting it go but I’m changing up some machines in the studio and I only have limited room.
Every function, switch, dial, slider, EVERYTHING WORKS 100%!!” Link
