I am sad to see it go. However, I am looking for a good home for this wonderful synth. It’s in excellent condition. The best I have seen in 10 years. The Jupiter has been in my smoke-free studio for 12 years. I am the 2nd owner. It functions amazingly to the best of my knowledge. If there is anything you’d like me to test specifically, please ask prior to bidding. This keyboard is 100% analog. No digitally controlled oscillators here.” Link

This was producing sound just two weeks ago but now it will not get through the boot sequence. This has the Europa OS installed, the boot sequence stops on F-6. This is how F-6 is described in the Europa manual:

“F-6: Indicates that one or both voice boards are not responding. This fault can also show up if the voice boards’ connections to the controller board were installed backwards or are not making a solid connection to the controller board.” I have made sure the connections are seated, but there seems to be more that needs to be done.

When it was producing sound, all voices where working, except for Osc 1 of Voice six. To get voice one of the other five voices working, the Jupiter needed to be powered on for about 36 hours, to get warmed up.

I am not the original owner, I do not know the history of this Jupiter 6. I used it when recording an album two years ago, and all voices were working, after warming up. If you have electronics experience or can find a good electronics / synth tech, since it was mostly working two weeks ago, I would think it could be repaired to a fully functioning state. All buttons, sliders, knobs and keys are functional, cosmetically it is in good condition. Because of it’s age, once getting it repaired, I would recommend keeping this in the studio, taking anything this old (28 years) out for live performance is kind of asking for trouble.” Link

It is in great condition. Sounds awesome! I recently cleaned all the knobs and sliders so there are no noisy pots. There are some slight scratches and imperfections in the paint, but nothing major at all. You would have to really look to see them. Overall, I would give this synth a 9 out of 10 condition. It comes with a nice ATA flight case, that has a pop off lid. ” Link

No issues to report.
The Jupiter 6 is one of my very favorite synths- so versatile and fat.
I purchased it on eBay a few years ago as a “mint” museum condition synth. I’m very very particular and I would call it’s condition Very Good. It’s an 8 not a 10.
This is due to 2 rubs in the pin striping as pictured.
But that’s it! ” Link

“I’m selling my Jupiter 6. Hopefully to someone who will get as much out of owning it as I have. If you are looking at this I’m sure you know what it is already, but heres a quote from vintagesynth.com

“The Jupiter 6 is an incredible analog synth. All of the Jupiters have a sound that was unlike any other synthesizer and the Jup 6 is no exception. This sound is due in part to classic analog Roland technology in its filters, modulation capabilities and a thick cluster of 12 analog oscillators at 2 per voice. Easy and intuitive programming via front panel sliders, knobs and buttons for all your tweaking needs.”

Overall the synth is in good condition. I have only ever used it in my smoke free home studio. All voices work, as do all the knobs and sliders. (though some sliders are a little sticky). I had the power capacitors replaced and other general cleanup and maintenance done about 3 years ago. (the invoice is shown in one of the pics). The top 3 or 4 keys occasionally make intermittent contact. I’m not much of keyboard player so it never really bothered me, but I believe the contacts just need to be cleaned. In addition there is a small dent near the power connector- it’s almost too small to even notice but thats why theres a pic of the power connector. There is also some discoloration from where some tape or something sticky used to be near the volume knob. The metal sides have a few scratches

All in all- the synth sounds great, (It is probably my favorite sounding analog). I never planned on selling this, but I need to pay for school and car repairs- and it doesn’t get as much use as it should.” Link

The keyboard works great, however there is an issue with two out of the ten oscillators needing to be replaced. You can hear it cut out on some of the presets. Overall it is easy to work around, and would be very easy for a tech to repair or yourself if you have knowledge. Cosmetically it is in excellent condition. Almost flawless body. The side metal pieces have some scratches but if you replaced that this baby would be close to cherry. Comes with Midi. This is a great way to get a Jupiter for a lower price than they normally go for! ” Link

It is a great synth in cosmetically good condition for its age (7.5/10). All knobs and sliders appear to be original apart from the big black master tune knob. No signs of corrosion. One voice does not work but the other 5 do. Some keys need to be pressed harder than average to get the note to play, so a good contact cleanse would highly benefit this JP-6. Apart from that, that is all I am aware of, otherwise the synth works great. MIDI in/out, original power cord, Europa disc and Roland factory presets on cassette included.” Link

MINT MACHINE !!!! MUST HAVE !!!! PERFECT !!!!! THIS LISTING IS FOR THE KEYBOARD

Heres what it comes with !!!!

THE Keyboard with the best light show just got better! Now we can add a lighted bender , This mod also changes the LEDS to a selection of colors so you can organize your buttons and lights around the board the way YOU would want it laid out. Totally customize your Jupiter 6 to fit your organizing and aesthetic needs! Yes we can change the color of buttons if you like but I figured if I changed this classic too much, the synth police might come and get me! haha..

In this example I’ve changed all “white” buttons to have yellow LEDS, It looked a little better than red. And all of the Blue buttons have been changed to blue LEDS. The lighted bender is blue.

The Jupiter Six, Thanks to the folks at Europa has enter into the 21st century of snyca- biltiy and music production. Give your Jupiter six beauty and brains ! ” Link

Knobs on the second LFO were replaced by Davies knobs that fit the synth very well. It functions wonderfully and I can’t find any problems with it. No need to remark on the sound; it’s a Jupiter! It does the old analog poly sound very well and has a ton of unusual utility to satisfy the avid programmer. This is one of the later models that features MIDI In/Out/Thru. ” Link

THIS SYNTH WAS RESTORED A FEW YEARS AGO BY A PROFESSIONAL FRIEND OF MINE THAT LIVED HERE.
THE SYNTH WAS TAKEN APART,TESTED,CLEANED,REPLACED ANYTHING THAT WAS OUT OF SPECIFICATION,AND HAS A FEW IMPROVEMENTS INSTALLED! SEE BELOW!

1 -THE SYNTH HAS THE MAIN CPU CHIP REPLACED WITH *EUROPA 2.0.* IF YOU NEVER HEARD OF THIS,I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST VISITING THE SYNTHCOM WEBSITE AND SEE WHAT THIS AMAZING UPGRADE HAS TO OFFER THE JP6!
IT REALLY MAKES THIS CLASSIC SYNTH HAVE A MODERN EDGE TO IT! SO MANY AWESOME NEW FEATURES!

2 -THE POWER CORD JACK HAS BEEN REPLACED TO A 3 PRONG TYPE.
THE ROLAND 2-PRONG CORDS ARE HARD TO FIND AND ARE UNGROUNDED.
THE 3-PRONG TYPE CAN BE FOUND AT ANY MUSIC STORE IN ANY LENGTH AND ALSO TO HELP GROUND THE JUPITER.
MOSTLY DONE FOR SAFETY, BUT ALSO TO STOP ANY ANNOYING HUMS AND UNWANTED NOISE. (A POWER CORD IS INCLUDED)

3 -THE REAR OUTPUT JACK (NON-BALANCED TYPE) WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW JACK BECAUSE THE JACK WAS DAMAGED AND INOP.

4 -ALMOST ALL OF THE SLIDERS AND POTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BECAUSE THE OLD ONES WERE WOBBLY OR NOT WORKING TO SPECIFICATION. NOW IT WORKS LIKE NEW!

5 -THE SLIDER CAPS ARE JUNO-106 TYPE CAPS AND ARE BLACK IN COLOR. I STILL HAVE MOST OF THE ORIGINAL CAPS IF YOU WANT THEM AND I WILL INCLUDE THEM IF NEEDED.

6 -THE SYNTH HAS BEEN RESTORED TO ALL THE FACTORY PATCHES. EURPOA DOES THIS WITHOUT USING THE ‘TAPE IN’ CONNECTORS. EUROPA CAN RESET FACTORY PATCHES FROM ITS OWN ROM!

7 -THE SYNTH HOUSING WAS CLEANED OUT (NO MORE DUST BUNNIES) AND THE KEYBOARD HAS BEEN TAKEN APART AND CLEANED-UP. ALL KEYS TRIGGER AND ALL KEYS ARE EVEN. NO STICKY NOTES OR ANY NON-TRIGGING NOTES.

8- THE ALUMINUM SIDES HAVE BEEN SHINED UP A BIT, ITS COMMON FOR THEM TO GET CLUODY LOOKING OVER THE YEARS AS THEY AGE.

9- MOST OF THE CHASSIS SCREWS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY STAINLESS SCREWS.

THIS SYNTH IS READY FOR ANOTHER 20+ YEARS OF PLAYING!” Link

The synthesizer has very few signs of wear, and is immaculate condition.” Link

For those looking for a fantastic vintage analogue synth that sounds great and has full midi spec… look no further.

This also comes with the Europa midi upgrade from synthcom. this was professionally installed by Steve Jones in Sydney.

The Jupiter 6 was Roland’s first synth to don the then brand new MIDI protocol, and because of this the implementation was very crude and pretty much useless. a few years ago a company in the US went about rewriting the OP code for this particular instrument and produced an upgrade in the form of a new processor that basically completed what Roland started. With this upgrade installed, you get all the sounds, functionality and coolness of a 1980′s analogue synth, but with all the convenience and compatibility of a modern synth.

This one is in great condition for a nearly 30 year old instrument. It works perfectly.

There are a couple of dings in the case that are clearly shown in the photos’s. These have absolutely no affect on the playability whatsoever.” Link

” This vintage analog synth is from the mid 80′s, but is in perfect condition. It was just serviced by Expert Audio Repairs and Service, New York’s premier repair place for analog synths. They do great work and stand behind it! A faulty voice was repaired, the tuning is perfect now; the original factory pre-sets were even loaded in. So it’s ready to go- everything is 100% working electronically-no issues at all. And cosmetically it’s almost perfect, as you can see from the photos- just one light surface scratch in the upper right corner, otherwise it looks like it did new, just out of the box! The flight case was custom built for this instrument, and will really protect it well for shipping- and if you’re gigging or traveling with it at all. The case alone would be about $400 new, so it definitely adds some value here, and is also in exccllent condition.
This synth is a somewhat rare and collectible- they have been going up steadily in value over the years, so it should be a good investment monetarily as well as musically!” Link

We got this from the daughter of the original owner. It was part of a recording studio he tried to set up in the early mid eighties somewhere in California. After a few months he decided he was not cut out for the recording studio biz. The Jupiter six went into the case and was stored in a closet for the next 25 years. His daughter inherited the Jupiter a couple years ago and needed money so sold it to us with the nice Anvil-style case.
This Jupiter is in phenomenal condition and works like new. No wear, no oxidation, nothing is missing. There are no issues. No mods. It’s ready to play. Its full functionality and complete originality is guaranteed. Anyone would be hard pressed to find a more perfect example of this unit. The case is in great condition as well.
This keyboard is the first made by Roland to be equipped with midi capability.
Comes with power cord and nicely bound copy of the owners manual.” Link

It absolutely pains me to sell it. It has been such an amazing synth and has added so much vibe to my studio sessions. It is an intense, deep, lush synth unlike another. It will be missed and chances are I’ll never find another one of these again as they are getting very hard to find in the condition mine is in…. So… Here are the details…

I am the original owner… Yes I am that old. Back in the 80′s 90′s I used this synth for a few live shows…. It always rocked and never gave me problems.
After then, I quit doing the live thing and its been kept in my climate controlled studio since… I have had my analog tech maintain this Jupiter every couple years… Just the preventative stuff… Cleaning, battery replacement etc. I had it calibrated 2 years ago, I had the FINE TUNE pot replaced with an after market 3 years ago as it was not working properly…now it does.

Every button, key, slider, jack , lever on this synth works and works with NO STATIC or NOISE!!!! You can manipulate every edit parameter with ease of mind. It sounds amazing with the fattest pads, strings, basses, leads and did. Mention that the arpeggiator is mind blowing? It is.

Cosmetically it’s in great shape… All the original slider and knob caps are there! There are some scuffs on the side panels and there is a rust spot on the left side. All this never effected performance and it’s been like this since the 80′s. It still looks fantastic, after all it’s a Jupiter!

Although it’s ready to use, whether it’s in the studio cranking out tracks or live , you’ll be the envy of every synth freak out there, this jupiter6 is being sold as is without the possibility of return. Please see all the pics and ask questions BEFORE you bid… Make sure this is what you want and Make SURE you can send payment in a timely manner. Please see my feedback for peace of mind… I am a long good standing eBay seller.” Link

Fully functioning amazing analog warmth and control of all sound parameters. See below for some web snips and details of what this baby is capable of.

*The Modulation button on the left of the synth doesn’t seem to work. The workaround is easy. Just twist the osc/filter knob next to it to gain your osc/filter modulation amounts to your liking or break out the screwdriver set and jump under the hood.

the Europa upgrade gives this synth a whole new operation manual. See link below. from http://www.synthcom.com/

This unit is in extremely good shape, having recently been looked over by my tech @ Analog Outfitters, they installed a new battery, checked all solder connections and calibrated the board. All sliders, pots, buttons and keys are fully functional, original and its sounds amazing. Cosmetically there is a scratch across the “R” of the Jupiter logo (*see pic #1), from my 2nd tier keyboard stand rubbing on it (didn’t discover until after the fact!), but other than that no blemishes. The hardcase is custom sized, and fits the board snuggly. This JP6 is extremly versatile, sonically unique and an overall rock solid, stable piece. The condition of my Jupiter 6 is one of the best I’ve seen. I will only ship to the lower 48 states, and all sales are final, as this board is almost 30 years old. The Europa modification is an amazing addtion to the JP6, giving it extended and modern MIDI capabilities, as well as massive additional onboard Arpeggiator settings. Europa brings the JP6 into the modern age, giving you the best of old analog, with new, more modern parameters. I will ship the JP6 inside of the hardcase, wrapped in bubble/peanuts. It will be boxed and professionally packed, I take extreme measures to ensure the safety of my packages.” Link

I’m a serious NYC composer who takes great care of his instruments and only has them serviced by experts.
I also run a known arts nonprofit venue sponsored by NY Foundation for the Arts where this item has been on demo to eager students in our Electronics in Music Workshops.

If you’re looking at this, you probably already know that the Jupiter 6, is arguably the most highly rated and reliable analog polysynth ever made, especially with the Europa Midi upgrade.

This very special and enhanced Jupiter 6 for sale, is the most unique, rare and musically expressive one that you could by.

Why is this so? Please read and you’ll see.

-Clean and in Excellent Shape

-Fully Restored and Serviced just recently form NYC’s highest end audio repair store “EARS”.

-Fully working and installed Europa Midi Upgrade.

-A “One of a Kind” LFO 2 mod button installed on the board at the MOOG factory by their chief engineer.

(Please refer to the small red button above the pitch bend mod lever on the 3rd pic.
This modification allows the player to have both LFO1 and LFO2 pressed at the same time, while freeing both hands to play the 6 poly keyboard. Otherwise, when “tweaking” LFO2 you must physically hold down the large white button, which only allows you tom play the keyboard with one hand.
*there is no other Jupiter 6 with this serious player improvement in existence.)

-This Jupiter 6 belonged (according it’s folk history) to ZZ TOP, and I acquired it from their Roadie who toured with them and this keyboard in the 80′s.” Link

The Jp6 is deep if you can imagine a sound the jp6 can make it add the Europa option and you have in my opinion a analog synth that has no rival vintage or modern. My friend has a new Prophet 8 and we compared the two, The Prophet sounds good but when we turned on the Roland it really was no contest. VCOs have that extra something that DCOs just cant do.

I have taken very good care of this Roland and it is in 100 percent working order. I Just had it serviced by Ed Miller in Hollywood. I had a few pots replaced that were a little loose and the Sliders cleaned and lubed the power supply caps replaced everything was just given a once over to make sure it will last another thirty years. Cosmetically it is great condition except for a small bit of blue paint that has worn a little right above the bank presets as you can see in the picture.

I am also including some extra replacement pots an original service manual a CEM 3340 VCO chip and a couple backup batteries.

The Roland Jupiter 6 is truly a classic and I believe will soon start to appreciate in a manner that the JP8 has in recent years.” Link

Selling due to lack of space and heading South again again here is my fabulous Roland Jupiter 6 Analog Synth for sale.

As used by me Thomas Gandey aka Cagedbaby on most of my productions and also by the Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Duran Duran, Frankie goes to Hollywood, the list is endless. This synth has history.

The Jupiter 6 is an incredible analog synth. All of the Jupiters have a sound that was unlike any other Synthesiszer and the Jupiter 6 is a classic dance industry piece of it. This is as close to Jupiter 8 as you’ll get unless you have an MKS80 but Roland discontinued the J8 and J6 in 1985 and their analogue era ended with the demise of the MKS80 in 1987. Stunning for Dance or Rock this synth does serious Lead Lines, Acid Emulating, Punchy and massive bass and Subs , Soaring Pads, Techno, Disco… Its massively tweakable and is getting rarer every day; this is an investment.

Shes a beauty & was fully serviced last year and is in superb condition for a nearly 30 year old synth. This Jupiter 6 has never been toured and comes from a smoke free studio. There is a small crack on one of the keys which doesnt affect the keyboard at all, you can buy replacement keys on ebay for £5 right now. It is also full MIDI, and i havent put in the Europa firmware, This Jupiter 6 is in perfect 100% original order.

Serial number 301479″ Link

“It works and sounds great. Recently serviced by Audio Electronics in Dallas (all upper panel knobs & sliders replaced and new battery installed). I also replaced the bender (was damaged due to poor packing by previous owner) and a few of the “natural” white keys from a Juno 106 that I bought years ago for parts that a previous owner has spray painted black, so you’ll notice some over-spray on these keys if you look at the small gap between the synth’s chassis and the tops of the keys – hardly noticable, but I want to point that out. One slider cap is missing and if I can find a replacement, I’ll send it along. This synth DOES NOT have the Europa upgrade and I highly recommend it. I have it installed on my personal Jupiter 6.

I have included many high resolution photos showing its condition. You’ll notice many screws are missing from it being recently opened for repairs. I have most of the screws. I think there are 2-3 screws missing for each of the metal end cheeks, but there are enough to keep it secured.” Link

These powerhouse synthesizers are a great investment as they are increasingly in high demand as time goes on. They just don’t make them like this anymore. One of may favorite things about this synthesizer is that you don’t have to scroll through endless menus to modify the sounds. All of the modulation nobs are right at your fingertips and they can be tweaked in real time. The variety of sounds you can make with this machine are literally endless. The mulitiple arpeggio, glissando, cross-modulation, and wave-form buttons can especially spark your creativity. As far as I know I am the original owner of this keyboard. I purchased it in the mid-80′s at a local music store when I was a teenager, and it has never left my residence. One of the vco buttons is raised a bit, but it does not seem to have affected its functionality–otherwise this classic synth is in mint condition. It’s cousin, the Jupiter 8, regularly sells for $8000 or more, and many who have played both keyboards say there isn’t much difference between the two. Check out Jupiter 6 on youtube to hear some examples of what this monster can do. Whether you need large warm pads, mysterious string soundscapes, funky lead synth chords, or arpeggiated dance blips, this keyboard will be a fresh addition to you musical compositions–and the great thing is, they are all sounds of your own creation. Operation/Owner’s Manual is included with the purchase.” Link

“With this auction, I am including the following: 1) Roland Jupiter 6 with the Europa Version 2 Upgrade; 2) 2-prong power cord; 3) Original Roland Jupiter 6 Owners Manual; 4) Copy of the Service Notes; 5) A Printed Version of the Synthcom Owners Manual w/ an added Vesion 2 addendum; 6) the actual receipt from Synthcom for the work done; 7) Synthcom’s Europa CD; Roadie’s Hard Shell Anvil Case($100); 9) LeCover’s Keyboard Duct Cover($30)

I bought this from an original owner around a year ago. Later on, I contacted Synthcom for the upgrade. They had me send them a specific board from the synth and that is where they put in the upgrade. That was the week I was involved in an accident & had to have knee surgery. The board came back and I re-installed it at a much later time. Due to mounting cost and missing work, I have been behind so I need to sell this. I never really got into it or tried it out. It has been pretty much stored since. My focus has been to pay things off and downsize so off it goes.

Exterior Condition: As you can see from the pictures, the Jupiter 6 is in immaculate shape. One very small knick by the bender and a small scratch on the back. Aside from that, very little that is noticeable. Extremely clean. As a note, I noticed when I took the pics, there is a screw that is missing on one of the sides. Must have happened when I took out the board for the upgrade. The front 2 legs were removed previously from the original owner. Obviously, the things I mentioned have absolutely no effect on the playing condition of the keyboard.

Mechanical Condition: When I received the board back from Synthcom, I was told there may be a need to have some calibration or adjustments done since it does change a few parameters. This was a rare issue but none the less, a possibility. What I was told that there is a Roland code and the Europa code. In the manual, there is extensive calibration/testing procedures than can be done. The manual is 82 pages so this is pretty intense for what you can do! You can also boot up to the original Roland soundset or into Europa’s. Anyways, there is some differences so keep that in mind. Being that it is going on being 30 year old analog beast, it needs a good 10-15 minutes to warm up. This is pretty much standard.” Link

This is a very powerful analog synth from the mid 80s with a lot of amazing sounds and MIDI. It works great and is in great shape. All sliders and function work well as far as I can tell and it tunes up fast and accurately. The only possible issue is the vibrato button takes a firm hand, but works fine. It took a hit when it was shipped to me and has a dent in the lower front right side as shown in photo 6. This is no way affects the functional condition of the keyboard. It sounds great but I have a lot of synths and I have to let some things go. I will miss this synth a lot! ” Link

Its now time for someone to make more awesome noises with it.

Especially for the rave sounds that are hot at the moment.

We will be straight with you here, we dont actually want to let it go, but space is a premium here in our production facility.
We originally tried to use virtual analogs to do the sounds we needed, but frankly youve got to be joking.
We tried everything even the virus polar, and every software synth you can think of, to no avail.

All the noises from FGH pleasure dome inside, and duran duran.
plus all the 90s rave sounds, and plain scary noises that will tear the skin off your teeth.

Its had a full service, everything has been recalibrated, and weve been reliably informed that
its never been messed with under the hood.
Its got a little dent on the grill right at the back of the synth, but you have to look for it.
Not been knocked about, not been gigged, everything working perfect.
Couple of screws missing from the side panel, but thats it.
The board is 100% genuine, no nasty suprises, no DIY soldering nightmares, its untouched and just does the job” Link
