“I am including a MIDI to USB Adapter, Power Cord (2 prong), and Original Manual.

To the best of my knowledge, this is a completely original instrument. All Faders and buttons function perfectly. The Bender works correctly on both x and y axis. There is no dust noise in any control. Visually, this is a 9/10. No scratches, Dings, tape goo – nothing. The sides are original, as are all of the LED’s.

As for the sound: I have run test procedures on Noise, Wave Generators, and Filters from the Mono out jack. The only place I have reason to question is Voice 5′s Wave Generator (voice 5 and 6 share the chip). It works on the lower half of the keyboard, but not the top.

I have tested the midi controls and found them to be completely stable. The Midi out registers as velocity 127 – this is not a touch sensitive board by design.

The box is not original, but for a Juno 2. ” Link

“ROLAND JUNO 106

What’s Good:
in nice physical shape
all controls working well
sound presets in tact

What’s Bad:
in poly 1 mode every second or forth note in a scale doesn’t sound (in poly-2 mode this doesn’t happen)
output is noisy- like intermittent static
high f and f# keys are broken (see pictures)- they still play properly

Includes power cord” Link

“So, way back in 1985, when I was 8 years old, my parents told me it was time to take piano lessons. Fine, I said, but I don’t want to play piano. I want to play synth, like the cool rock stars. Amazingly, they agreed to get me not a piano, but a Roland JUNO-106, which turned out to be one of the iconic synths of the 80s, and is still in high demand today. Unfortunately, I decided I’d rather play guitar, so this gorgeous piece of machinery was underutilized.

If you came across this listing, you probably know what makes it awesome, so you don’t need me to tell you. I can tell you it works great, has a couple of scratches, and my 5-year-old daughter just played on it for about 90 minutes straight, and she gave it a pretty rigorous testing, so from what I can gather, all knobs, sliders, buttons and keys work great. To tell you the truth, I hate to see it go, but I just don’t play it much anymore, and my closets are full. So, now’s your chance to own a bit of history; hopefully you’ll make some music in keeping with its pedigree. ” Link

SOME OF THE POTS ARE A LITTLE SCRATCHY BUT ALL IN ALL NO BIG PROBLEMS. “Up for auction is ROLAND Juno-106 the “classic” analog synthesizer.
Probably one of the best polyphonic analog synths available, sounds great and easy to play.

I ran the unit in test mode, and it seems like voice chip number 2 is not functioning properly and would probably need replacing. All other voices made a sound, but I’m not an expert at this and I have not done any of other full tests. All the sliders and buttons make the sound change when you control during play, so I assume other functions work but basically consider this as for parts or for repair. Also noticed there are buttons you have to press pretty hard to make it function.” Link

“Roland Juno 106 for sale in great condition. I’m not the original owner (this thing was probably originally purchased when I was just a kid), but I’ve never played it out, and its been kept in my smoke-free home studio. Its in good cosmetic condition – some scuffs and discoloring hear and there – but nothing major, and all of the original caps and sliders are present. All of the voice chips have been tested and are working 100%. All other parameters have been thoroughly checked and are working smoothly. There is some slight crackling when adjusting the volume knob up or down (the pot is dusty), but this only happens when turning it, not once the volume is set. Comes with the power supply.” Link

“Up for auction is my ROLAND Juno-106 “classic” analog synthesizer. Probably one of the best analog synths available, the 106 can handle everything from Depeche Mode to Moby and everywhere in between. I love it and will miss it but times being what they are……

This particular 106, which resides in my smoke-free home studio, is in very good shape with the cosmetic blemishes you’d expect from a 30-year-old unit but does not affect playing in any way. Both A and B sound banks are in great shape. I could spend all day playing with Bank B/81 alone! The volume knob is a bit scratchy and two of the black keys (far right on the keyboard – see picture) have decided to pop up a bit over their neighbors but both are fully functional. Both of these issues can be solved by a nice professional cleaning/set-up, something you’d want to do anyway when buying a 30-year-old used instrument.

The 106 has a ton of other on-board functions that most keyboard players know well, but as a guitarist who used the 106 to add depth and texture to songs I was recording, I’m a bit clueless as to what they are and how they work.” Link

“You are bidding on a Roland Juno 106 Programmable Polyphonic Synthesizer . Comes as pictured some scratches and some of the keys do not work when using some functions, and then do not when using other ones, not sure if that is the way this keyboard works, when you play on Poly 1 every 6 keys do not play, I believe it is a dead voice, when you play on Poly 2 all the keys play, also their is a name etched on the back. Power cord is not included. It is sold as is.” Link

“If you are looking at this ad I assume you know what a Roland Juno 106 is all about.

Mine was purchased ten years ago.

I don’t really play keyboards but I thought it would be a nice addition to my humble home stereo.

Thus, it has received very little use and has never been gigged with during that ten year period.

Cosmetically this machine is in excellent condition.

No dings, gouges or scratches. All knobs are present and the color is good with only normal fading.

I believe one or more of the voice chips may be hung up.

From what I can tell, all of the oscillators, envelopes, bender wheel, etc. knobs work however the unit is being sold as is.

It works in its current condition. It will just work better with your caring touch.” Link

“Ideal as a refurb or winter project, this Old Roland Juno 106 has been hanging around needing some TLC for a few years but i am tired of seeing it sitting waiting for the attention i cant give i :(

i bought this tatty Juno years ago off a bloke who said it used to belong to Gerry and the Pacemakers, well, i dont know, but i do know that it needs work and love, faults are:

couple of sliders need replacing, LFO slider seems inoperative, but works via MIDI.
couple of the keys dont work, .. i did the test mode to check if all the voice chips are working,
they do seem to be, so maybe just the 4 or so keys may just need a clean. they all worked
before it was put in the corner of the rehearsal room and forgotten about.
they all used to work before storage. sometimes you have to press the couple of faulty keys 2 or 3 times, i think the extreme left first one just plain doesn’t work.

The chorus became noisy, resulting in a horrid loud clicking / crunching at regular intervals,
it did not do this before it was forgotten about.

couple of MEM buttons need a good firm press,
it did not do this before it was forgotten about.

cosmetically the black plastic ends, one has a smal chunk missing.
but the unit is safe and solid. it just doesn’t loo too pretty.
replacement WOOD Juno side panels are available here on Ebay.

The stick on the MOD / Shifter is missing, this item is available on Ebay.
it came like this.

i’m selling it because it never gets used and it needs someone who knows about these things, classic 80s analogue synths aren’t my area of expertise, so i’m hoping someone
will give it the love it deserves.” Link

“Juno 106 in working condition.

A few keys don’t sound and one of the black ones sits a little high, but all voices sound via MIDI. There are also a couple of buttons which are sticky and the pitch bend knob is broken off, but the pitch bend works just fine. Only one slider cap missing. She needs a good cleaning.

Everything works via MIDI, which is how I use it.

Ask all questions before bidding and remember that this is an as is auction for a working, but not perfect synth.” Link

“Up for auction a Roland Juno106 needs service, in good cosmetic condition exept the cable that is missing a holding covering part ( see pic #4 but it powers on)) , the keys produce sound , but when i ran the unit in test mode and it seems like it has hanging VCA’S, as there was constant noise in all the voices , probably they are about to die which is a very common issue of the juno 106 , im not an expert so this is my best guess i can give , great for a fixing project or take it to a repair shop. “so this is being sold as is” ,for parts not working condition. bid to win a classic synth that needs some tlc.” Link

“I’ve had this synth for several years, and it is still in great condition. The nice thing about it is that all of the filters are analog, which gives it the classic sound, but the basic wave forms are actually generated by a microchip, which means it never goes out of tune and you never have to deal with the mess of analog wave generators. It is also the first analog synth to come with MIDI. So, it was built right at the perfect time to give you the best of all possible worlds. If you’ve ever played with one in person, you know the sound is fantastic. You have definitely heard it in many songs with classic synth sounds. It’s also great as a user to be able to build your own sounds from the ground up with knobs and faders, rather than having to punch things in on a computer with a mouse.” Link

“I’ve had this Juno-106 for over a decade. Getting rid of it because I have a mortgage that likes to be paid on time, and my years of rocking out are behind me. Bought it from Songbird music in Ottawa, which is now Spaceman Music. The keyboard comes with a heavy-duty travelling case, power cable, photocopied user manual, and of course, the greatest synth to come out of the 80′s. I lost the original power cable, the one you see in the pictures is a replacement. I’ve check out all the functions, everything works fine. There are a couple cosmetic things that you can see in the pictures, and that I’ll point out:

- the carrying case has some cracks in it, but still works very well. it also has a bunch of stickers on it that will make you look more like a pro musician touring the world.
- one of the keys has a scratch on it (see picture)
- the LFO slider is bent slightly and is a little scratched up, but it still works perfectly.
- any minor scratches you can see in the pictures

The serial number is 525826, as shown in the photo.

In the overhead photo, the LED segments aren’t showing up, because I’m taking the pictures in the daylight. In one of the photos you can see that the LED segments are working fine.” Link

“A great chance to acquire this sought after programmable analog synth with Midi.

Keyboard in full working order, but the battery needs replacing to make use of the 128 storage patches.

Second photo shows location of battery (3V Lithium) and sites below explain process:

Don’t think I will be able to publish a link in these details, so try searching for Edy Hinzen’s website.

Sound of Music also has pages on the Juno 106.

The current battery has pins but you may want to follow Edy’s advice for fitting the more readily available 3V battery without pins.

Factory pre-sets are also downloadable from the web, but I will provide you with the diagrams for building many of the the pre-set sounds as they were included in the original manual for the Juno 60. I can also provide the Juno 160 manual in photocopy format.

The only physical defect is the lack of small perspex covering for the LED display -please see final photograph. ” Link

2 missing the slider covers

the bender is cracked and will need to be replaced

The mono output was bumped and sketchy (recommend replacement)

“This is an auction for a mid 80′s juno 106 synthesizer by Roland. Back in the day it was a must have unit. I bought mine to write music on and since I am a drummer, it has been gigged very lightly. I won’t lie to you. it has seen very few smokey bars but it has lived most of it’s life in a smoke free studio environment. Now that I am nearing 50, it’s time to let go of some of my music stuff I have been accumulating for the past 30 years. Cosmetically it is in very fine shape. the loan exception is the wood bottom has some scratches as you can see in the photo. I have never had this unit serviced and everything is working as far as I know. I turned it on for the first time in several years the other night and noticed that some of the faders and knobs are a bit dirty and scratchy. I assume this is an easy cleanup or possibly they will clean up just by using them. I assume that the battery is probably dead. Also, when you bring up a patch, after playing it a short time, the red dots come up on the screen which I think indicates that the program has changed. I’m not really sure what that means. You keyboard guys should have no problem bringing this unit back to almost perfect condition. I wish I could keep it, but I’m outta room and something has to go. the Juno got the short straw! ” Link

“Roland Juno-106
Vintage programmable polyphonic synthesizer

I was told it is a 1984-1985
It appears in very good condition, there are several tiny scratches here and there, but most of them are almost unnoticeable
The bottom of the keyboard is a little worst, as you can see in the picture, but that doesn’t affect the keyboard functionality
Everything works as far as I know (but I can’t guarantee because I’m not an expert)

Up for your viewing is an awesome vintage Roland Juno 106 Synthesizer. This belonged to a friend that bought it for their kids several years ago brand new, but the kids never did hardly use it and it was stored in their garage and wanted it out of their way.

This Synthesizer comes with power cords, program sheet (dated 1984), Panasonic Synthesizer remote (used and untested) and a hard shell Hybrid case. Under the handle it is marked J H Sessions & Son, Bristol Conn.

This synthesizer is in near excellent vintage and WORKING condition with very little signs of use, may have a scratch or two but nothing major as shown in the pictures. The case is very good no major damage just a little surface rust on a few of the metal corner and around the latches from being stored for these years but should clean up. The remote does show some wear and is untested. ” Link

Functions 99%, One voice chip has already been replaced.

There is one issue: every so often, the synth decays infinitely. Once you hit the transpose button, that stops for a good hour.
