It is sold in need of a major service / overhaul but there is power to the machine and the main pads do make drum sounds, but it well need some TLC.
Would suit a collector.” Link

“The auction is for an E-Mu eMax synth. This was purchased from an estate. It does not come with an operating disc. When turned on it asks for an operating system. That is as far as I am able to test it.” Link
“Works great, has 8 brand new slider knobs and a few of the white push buttons have been replaced. Could use a cleaning probably since its been sitting awhile in my old studio, Screen is bright green with no dead pixels. All the black pads have been cleaned and springs adjusted. Each pad works fine and uploads sounds to each, a couple of the white buttons stick sometimes but still work. Comes with a VHS and DVD tutorial video to teach u how to make beats with it. And power cord and I’ll give ya about 60 brand new floppies to save your stuff. Just made a beat on it last week have to sell due to baby coming. This thing is crazy tight with the drums what you read is true it’s crazy, I’m also selling my 60 mpc. No returns due to age of unit but this thing works great with no known issues.” Link
“Fully working Emu Drumulator with the impossible to get Roland TR-808 and TR-909 eproms. Nothing else sounds like the 8-bit Drumulator and it’s very rare the Drumulator TR-808 and TR-909 roms go up for sale. Also included is the original Drumulator Owner’s Manual which is also impossible to get. All the buttons and knobs work on this unit including all the outputs. There are some scratches on the unit here and there but most importantly everything works on the beautiful machine. Vintage E-MU stuff just goes up and up every few months. So get this now before it’s too late and someone else snags it. You’ll have some of the best lofi 808 and 909 sounds that few people have heard from the classic 8-bit Drumulator.” Link
“Up for bid is the “Classic” E-MU DRUMULATOR + original manual. Acquired from the original owner who used to be a TV commercial composer. Fully functional. ALL control works and drum patterns are present. Only missing the top cap of the metronome volume knob-no affect on function. Minor marks/scratches, overall very good shape.” Link
“EMU SP1200 Drum Machine *VINTAGE*
This is a first run of the machine – original gray/not black reissue
Includes 3 original start-up disks, original manual and master cable (not pictured).
Classic drum machine used by the likes of Marley Marl, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Depeche Mode, Phil Collins, Madlib, etc. etc.
When I bought this machine I had it serviced and all of the buttons replaced by the legendary FORAT studios in Studio City, CA for good measure! This machine was my baby!
All buttons, levers, and knobs are in perfect working order.
There is a “#1″ written on the back as well as a small tape mark (see pic. 3)
Clear film on top casing has begun to peel, as it does on nearly all of the original-issue SP’s. The machine gets really hot, as all original-issue SP’s do.” Link

“Up for bids is a classic, original-issued (gray) E-MU SP 1200 sampling drum machine. This is the grandfather of all drum machines… revered for its crunchy 12-bit sound. You know the specs, you know the history, and you know the reputation… now here’s your chance to own one! This SP1200 is in excellent working condition. FULLY-FUNCTIONAL. Just had complete pad & slider servicing, an internal cleaning, and a complete diagnostic (June 2011) by Bruce Forat here in Los Angeles. All pads and buttons trigger flawlessly… (no double-triggering or dead pads and no mashing of buttons required!) Sliders are smooth and very responsive. LCD screen is clear (no lines or dead pixels) and disk drive functions and loads properly. Bid with confidence knowing that this machine was just professionally serviced and is ready for work! Top layer of clear film has begun to peel on top of casing (as it does on most of the original-issued models)… ” Link

“This is a vintage keyboard from “E-MU Systems Inc.”, and is the ‘Emax’ model. It powers on and shows the EMU opening screen, and then ask for a disc, which I do not have and have no way to test it further, and it is sold as is. It is in nice condition, with some finish type wear on the top, with some scratches and light type edge wear on the sides.” Link
“This listing is for an EMU EMAX II Vintage Digital Sampling Keyboard.
The unit is in good condition for the age, with a few marks on the casing as is common with instruments of this age, particulary on the corners (as can be seen in the pictures).
The unit powers up and boots from disk. We have loaded some sounds onto the Emax and have had a bit of a play. The keyboard sounds great but some of the keys are tempramental, and do not play very well.
Please see our other auctions for original EMAX II sample disks.
The plate on the rear reads:
Model# 2201
Serial# 0100318″ Link

“This *was* a fully-working unit with Turbo Upgrade and the newest OS 2.6 – all outputs, sliders, buttons, knobs worked great…
I used this almost daily up until 3 months ago when I tried to install a new LED-lighted Display. (The original display worked fine – it just wasn’t backlighted). The thin cable that went to the original display had to be destroyed – I replaced with regular hook-up wire. I also removed the High-Voltage Inverter that supplied a large voltage to the original backlight (it was no longer working anyways). Apparently I did something wrong or messed something up because it no longer works.
So, I placed the “old” display back in and the unit still doesn’t work. I checked all the DC voltages and everything looks OK. I can’t find the problem! I’m sure it’s something simple for anyone who knows how to work on these old digital devices…I guess I can only fix analog circuits. Oh, I also installed a new battery 3 months ago.
When turning the unit “on”, it “Boots-up” OK – all the LEDs flash and cycle like normal….but the display shows some weird stuff and the unit doesn’t appear to work properly. The pads don’t trigger the drum sounds like normal and I’m unable to program sequences.
Oh, I wish I hadn’t even attempted this job because this is probably the easiest sampler to use and has a VERY NICE sequencer and punchy sound. I just don’t know anyone nearby who can fix it and I’m moving soon so I guess I’ll get rid of it.
The body is slightly warped, there are some small cracks in the face-label, and the unit is missing a couple of screws.
The unit is sold AS-IS, for repair, and not currently working. NO REFUNDS, NO RETURNS, SALE IS FINAL.” Link
“Vintage and much saught after E-MU SP-12 Percussion Sampler. My brother bought and used this extensively in the 80′s. It’s sounds are on many Miami rap albums of the day. It has mostly sat since the late 90′s. It powers up with v2.6 TURBO version of the firmware as you can see in the pics. It comes with the pictured road case and power cord. The case’s foam has degraded in some spots (but still protects the unit fine) and the unit will need a good cleaning” Link
“Vintage 1983 E-mu Drumulator drum machine in excellent condition. Everything works, and this drum machine sounds incredible. Contains all the original Drumulator sounds, as used on countless hit records throughout the eighties. Classic!” Link
“Hello EBAY bidders I am selling an E-MU SP1200 black reissue sampler with instructional DVD on how to use the SP1200 for new users. I don’t really want to get rid of it but i’m moving to miami and i really need the money so thats why im selling it at a very low price. This sampler is great for hip hop producers but i am a house producer and i dont really use it as much and i hate to see it collect dust.
The SP is in GREAT condition this is a steal for the up in coming hip hop producer.
It comes with power cord, start up disk and instructional DVD” Link
“This listing is for a EMU Drumulator Vintage Synthesizer drum Machine.
The unit is in good condition for the age, with marks on the casing as is common with instruments of this age.
The unit is not fully functioning, it powers up and the display initially reads ‘bad’. The unit does play a few patterns but these sound like they are missing some drums. The ‘C’ button on the bottom row does play a cowbell but the other buttons do not trigger any drums.
Comparing the PCB to another Drumulator we have had there are some differences. This includes different eproms, different wiring and different volume pots. the pots do crackle when turned.
This is a good condition, complete unit, and an ideal oppurtunity for an enthusiast or repairer!” Link
“This is and will be a collectors item!

“This listing is for a EMU Drumulator Vintage Synthesizer drum Machine.
The unit is in good condition for the age, with marks on the casing as is common with instruments of this age.
The unit is functioning, and the on board sounds are great. A few of the buttons take a funny angle to make the contact inside, which could be a simple fix (e.g. switch cleaner) or worst case scenario they may need replacing.
This Drumulator looks very clean internally, as can be seen in the pictures.
This Drumulator comes complete with original manual.
This is a great unit, and an oppurtunity to own a classic drum machine!” Link
” Up for auction is an ORIGINAL EMU EMAX. I’ve tested it with a few discs by plugging it into a MIDI keyboard and everything seems to be in great shape.
This is the classic rare Emax that was used by so many musicians. If you are looking at this then you probably have an idea as to what it is.
This synth comes with about 35 floppy discs. 20 of the discs appear to be from the Emax standard diskette catalog. The other discs have handwriting on them and appear to be made by the original owner.
It also comes with the original manual! The EMU is in very good shape for it’s age.” Link
“Up for auction is an Emu Emulator 3.
I’m selling as I’m just not going to have the time to get into this properly.
I purchased this from another eBay seller on September 17th, 2010 and his listing can explain much better than I, and this is what he had to say about this beast!
“You are bidding on an Emu Emulator III model 6081 (8MB upgrade!!) running the latest/last Firmware v2.00 and Software v2.42 *This Emulator III has been fully tested and in 100% all-around excellent working condition!! It has just gone-through an extensive cleaning/servicing/recalibration/upgrading. Every part/component/connection has been cleaned of all dust/residue. Every IC, LED, and ribbon/molex cable was cleaned/re-seated. All buttons, sliders, felt padding, keys/key contacts have been detailed/cleaned for optimal performance. The Mitsubishi 3.5″ disk drive also works flawlessly!! Both wheel controllers are working as they should, and have also been cleaned/lubricated. The entire keyboard assembly was dismantled/completely cleaned so all keys work/respond beautifully!! If you are familiar with the Emulator III, then you will understand the value of this kind of work. The cosmetic condition of this EIII is also excellent!! “E-mu Drumulator Drum Machine, MIDI, and EPROMS Kits
11 Different EPROM Drum Sets, Digidrums, 808, & MIDI
Up for auction is a rare E-mu Systems Drumulator in good working condition. This Drumulator includes 11 different EPROM sound sets (kits), 5 ZIF sockets, MIDI, and a new memory battery. The Drumulator is in great cosmetic shape for its age (please see photos), and in perfect operating condition with the exception of the PERC.. LED which does not light, and the SONG LED that only partially lights. The LEDs should be easy to replace and do not interfere with operation as the other/alternate LED lights (DRUMS/SEGMENT) are working as seen in the photos.
The Drumulator is a sample based drum machine from circa 1983. The original Drumulator stock sound set was gritty, lo-fi, 12-bit samples of basic drum sounds, which become a classic in many songs of the 80s. The company now known as Digidesign, or Avid (Pro Tools), created sound sets for the E-Mu Drumulator and other sample-based drum machines, called Digidrums Sound Chips. This auction includes 9 Digidrums Drumulator EPROM kits (5 EPROMs in each kit) in addition to the Drumulator stock drum kit, and a custom 808 sound kit from drummob.
The EPROM sockets inside the Drumulator have been outfitted with 5 removable high-quality EPROM ZIFs that allow for easily removing and installing of drum kits.
Note: That the DigiDrums EPROM kits included in this auction are not the originals, but replacements made from the original Digidrums chips (see link below to hear the kits).
The 10 EPROM Drumulator Drum Kits included with this auction are:
Drumulator Stock Kit
drummob TR-808 Kit
Digidrums Electronic Drums 1
Digidrums Electronic Drums 2
Digidrums Rock Drums 1
Digidrums Jazz Drums 1
Digidrums Drums/Latin Percussion
Digidrums Latin Percussion
Digidrums Alt Drum Kit #3
Digidrums All Percussion
Digidrums Sound Effects 1
The Drumulator drum machine has been fully tested, is in great shape for its age, and is in perfect working condition. All knobs, slider, buttons, output clock, lamps/LEDs, functions, and outputs have been tested and are working with the exception of the LED issue mentioned above. A new memory battery has been installed. Audio output is strong and clean with minimum, to no scratchy knobs, fader, or toggle switches.
This auction includes:
Drumulator Drum Machine with MIDI
11 EPROM Drum Kits (1 is pre-installed), 5 protective EPROM cases
User Manual, and EPROM installation instructions on CD/PDF” Link
“You are looking at an original E-MU Systems Emax rack sampler. This is 12 bit digital sampler with an all analog filtering system. These units possess the same sample engine and filters as the coveted SP1200. They were in fact designed to compliment each other in modern midi studios of the 80′s and 90′s. The main distinguishing factor between this and the SP are that these have no internal sequencer. Instead, much more sample time and variable sample rates. Also the filter is fully variable and assignable rather than the hardwired output based filter system on the SP.
The unit itself is in very good condition cosmetically, though it’s missing the top cap of the on/off button and the flip down lid on the floppy drive. It appears to function correctly as well, though I lack the knowledge to test all of it’s routing and midi capabilities. Included is a very nice set of original E-MU sample disks as well as other third party Emax sound sets saved to floppy disks.” Link

RARE Vintage EMU sp12 TURBO sampler/drum machine for sale.
EXELLENT CONDITION (All Outputs Fully Tested plus Battery replaced)
I have completed a number of projects with this baby!
This is the BEST Drum machine ever!! Awesome On-board Sounds and Sequencer! plus You can sample your own drums!!!!
Personally I prefer this one over the sp1200 and mpc60 due to its HARD HITTING, CRUNCHY Drums!
No media device. (you can get them on ebay, but they’re very slow and unstable. It’s better to record right away without saving)
I usually sampled drums, created a number of short sequences, and recorded them right away to protools.
NEW Batteries are replaced. No backlight. Missing a few knob covers and bolts on the back (Does not affect function, Fully Functioning!).
*Auction includes Sampler and Power cord (free voltage).” Link

“This is it! The one and only EMU SP1200. I hate putting it up on Ebay but the truth is, I no longer use it. It’s been sitting in my studio waiting for me to fire it up! It’s time to pass it on now.
I’m selling this unit with EVERYTHING, including the owners manual and the entire library. The library includes the original SP1200 disk that came with it plus some of the disk you would normally purchase separately. I’m also including my entire personal sample library, a total of 37 disks! Including a disk that I got from a friend of mine, the producer of Public Enemy. This machine has tons of sounds!!!!
As per the unit its self. It’s been sitting. As such, 2-3 of the pads stick as well as some of the selection buttons. A good cleaning and plenty of “uses” should clear that up! Second, at times/intermittently when it’s in “seg” mode it will trigger samples. Not sure why it started doing that. It was working perfect the last time I used it! The disk drive is fine, all inputs, outputs and midi in, out and thru are great!
Other then what I’ve mentioned, the machine is great. No deep markings. This unit has not been beat up, just sitting around lonely! Whatever cosmetics you see pictured below, is it! A little “TLC” and some tweaking (use it!!) and this SP1200 is killer! ” Link

“Here we have my vintage EMU Emulator II sampling synthersizer , I have owned the Emulator for many years and it’s in very nice condition for it’s age. There is one button top missing ( the disc button ) but apart from that the synth is in great condition. Unfortunately I haven’t used the synth for many years and I no longer have any floppy discs for it so I cannot fully test it. The synth powers on , the display reads insert diskette and both drives flash . I assume the synth is in working condition as it was working when I last used it around 6 years ago and it has been stored since then in a dry warm environment . Due to the fact I cannot test it properly I am selling it as sold as seen with no return or guarantee. The Emulator II is getting very hard to find especially in this condition and are now very collectable. I am sue if you are reading this you will know all about the Emulator II and what a fantastic sounding instrument it is but if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.” Link

“E-mu SP1200 (model #7030). If you’re reading this you probably already know what kind of beast for drum machine/sampler this is!
The machine is in fully working condition. It looks fine! It got small scratches but nothing major. Everything works perfectly fine, except pad 1 that needs a little service. The pad works, but has kind of bad contact. I suggest that you use external midi pads for best performance. Since the SP pads is not really pads, more like buttons. All the other 7 pads works perfectly though.
Comes with 3 original SP floppy discs loaded with samples, and 24 DD floppy discs for you to use. And a user manual, not an original though. And of course the power cord.” Link

Sale includes the unit exactly as shown in the pictures.” Link
“Up for auction is a vintage EMU Emax sampler Rack serial # 001. This synth comes with one floppy disk that has some orchestral sounds to get you started. It is in near perfect conditon phisically and only has a couple minor scratches on the case. All functions work perfectly and loads samples fine. The one problem I did find is there is a large pop when this sucker is powered on. I am not sure what the deal is- I have seen people sell power supplies for these on ebay before so maybe this is an issue with these machines. Overall this synth is physically awesome. You can tell that this synth is still possibly in the prototype stage due to the strange plastic stickers that mark the individual outputs on the back. I was given this synth by the original owner and it has been racked its entire life in a smoke free studio. This auction will include the synth, a power cable and one disk.” Link
