Emu, Emulator III @ 03 May 2016, Comments Off on Emu Emulator EII+

e3 “For sale with no reserve, this fresh EII+ with a ton of upgrades will sell to the highest bidder. I am also going to include mainland North American shipping for a flat $100.

The EII+ is fully functional with the following NEW items installed: PSU, Decals, OLED display/HEX update, rotary encoders, sliders – including new resistors, HxC drive emulator with libraries/software, buttons and LEDs.
I’m sure I am forgetting a thing or two. Again, all of the parts are new. I have also installed a ‘contrast’ encoder to adjust the display viewing angle.

The unit functions silently and flawlessly. Both memory banks load up and sound great. The keybed was stripped down and cleaned meticulously.
This project was done right, and started out with a functioning machine, not a basket case.
Due to the new PSU, the original 5.25 drive is not powered, and has been left in place for looks only. All of the outputs are clean, and this machine sounds like nothing else.” Link

e3 “This entire setup was stored in a dry and safe place for the past 24 years. It was working when it was taken out of the studio and it still comes on and seems to be working fine. I do not have a way of loading the sounds to test it. The lights all work. The computer and Lacey still seem to work fine when plugged up. Unit is being sold as is because of its age. I do not have another things (like cables) I do have other SCSI drives that was used with this unit. If you are interested just let me know. ” Link

Emu, Emulator III @ 18 November 2014, Comments Off on Emu EIII XP

Emax EIII XP “If you are reading this you know what it is… No computer software virtual instrument or sound card can sound as big, fat, punchy, crunchy, charming and characteristic as the real thing. This is the next generation Emulator after the EIII. The XP has 32 MB of RAM and 32 Voices and although the filters are digital, they sound great, really smooth much like the Emax II…still one of my favorites. XP means Playback, there was a XS with analog inputs for sampling..I think this samples with the AES digital input

Good Working Condition – History
I bought this about 15 years ago because I always wanted one, I’ve actually owned every kind of emu sampler model ever made. I barely used it since then. It has been sitting in my smoke free air conditioned studio ever since and only turned on a few times. Everything works as it should…all 32 voices trigger with no glitches. The knobs and buttons respond great and the front panel is clean. The LCD is good, but the backlight is dim, if you setup a light the right way, you will be good. I regret to sell it but I must

Comes With Sounds
The external syquest 135 MB removable drive is loaded with the factory sound banks from the original Emulator III (which I am also selling in a seperate auction)

Cosmetics
Front panel is great, there are some scratches on the top but you won’t see them once it is in a rack ” Link

“For your consideration is this near perfect 1980’s Emu EIII model 6083 serial number 0190247. No modifications or repairs, this is an all-original near perfect instrument. This beautiful example not only looks great but is also 100% functionality wise. All knobs and buttons work exactly as they did when shipped from the factory. Great for early digital gritty samples, state of the art and expensive when new. Comes with two libraries and operational disk, one has 8 CDs the other 13 CDs which include Emu I and Emu II. A must for any recording environment. Serviced several years ago by Ed Miller expert synth repair Hollywood CA. Original AC cable is included. Good luck! ” Link

“When this thing arrived , it played beautifully! And that’s kind of rare, because these samplers don’t like to be moved. Go figure with 16 outputs in the rear. I think they wanted it to be a (stay in the studio piece ) . But I’m not wanting to risk anything and the circuit boards inside will be delivered separately for you to put in yourself. Sometimes the EIII would have small disk problems after I bumped it once! On the keyboard stand. Sheesh!! But it boots up fine, powers up fine, and its in great shape. I think once you update the hard drive , you should have no trouble tapping into quite arguably the best sampler ever made. Rumor has it , ( from a very reliable first hand source) , that Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music used to get so mad that his EIII wouldn’t load up on stage, that he decided that he would show it a thing or two, and gave it a nice yellow shower back stage.. ( not this one!!!) ha! But if you’ve read about these monsters, you know they have an extremely impressive sound. They are the only 16 bit samplers of their kind , with analog filters and VCA’s.” Link

“For auction is a vintage late 1980’s E-mu emulator 3 synth. This is a very famous model that was used on countless hit albums. It had a staggering cost of about $15,000 when new and was made to compete with the ultra expensive Fairlight CMI and Synclavier Systems. I picked this up from an old production house that went out of business a while ago. It is sold as-is, as found, in non-working condition. This is because of the missing power supply. The 3 sliding controls on the top are also broken off. Everything else seems to be intact and in pretty good cosmetic condition. This would be a great candidate for a parts machine (you will never find all of these extra parts anywhere else) or restoration. Local buyers are welcome to come check it out in person. ” Link

“You are bidding on an E-Mu EIII xp rack. Lush pads, gorgeous world instruments, and legendary resonant filters are all within your grasp. This product worked fine until the OS disk was magnetized. Perfect cosmetic condition, like new. I haven’t had the time to find a new disk, as I have other more pressing issues within my setup. However, it is a steal for this price, you simply need to get a new disk for it, and you’ll have at your disposal one of the best damn samplers on the market of yesteryear. I have listed it as not working, because I’m too honest to list it as used, as this implies out-of-box playability. ” Link

Emu, Emulator III @ 24 January 2012, Comments Off on E-mu Emulator III

“Today I am auctioning off my E-MU Emulator III high-end sampler. It has 16 voices, all with analog CEM filters. It sounds great; it has the unique ability to make anything put it into it to sound fantastic. It also has a very nice sequencer built-in. This unit was arguably the pinnacle of sampling technology (before this you were always guaranteed a fairly lo-fi result, while samplers created after lacked the analog filters that give sounds a heft that digital filters cannot provide). I used this to turn monophonic synths into polyphonic monsters. You can take a Minimoog for example, sample it, and then you have a polyphonic analog 16 voice setup (the sampler has all of the stuff a very nice polyphonic synth has, like two envelopes, LFO, detuning, etc). Or, you can put a bass sound for 25 keys and make the other keys strings/brass/drums sounds. The sampler is very easy to use (this is coming from someone who does not have the patience for Ensoniq and Akai samplers) and the controls are setup very logically. It works very well but has one issue; for some reason, the stereo-outs sometimes cut out. This does not affect the individual outs, just the stereo outs. To remedy this you just move the sampler around a bit and the sound comes back. Sometimes it doesn’t happen for months, the sampler seems to just need to be set in one spot and left alone, haha. This issue is so minuscule that I’ve never bothered to have it looked at but I want the buyer to know what they’re getting. I will also include a SCSI Zip drive and some disks to hook up to the E3 allowing you to store your samples/sequences on a much larger format than the internal floppy disk/hard drive. ” Auction ended. “Ok we buy test equipment but every once in a while we end up with instruments. This keyboard was apparently the cats meow in its day, I guess one of the most expensive units out there. I plugged it in and it tells me the firmware is 2.0 it goes through a series of test checking the SCSI and then the Floppy which I do not have an then it goes back to the SCSI checking, so yes it powers up but since I cannot get anything past the unit checking the floppy I assume it works but cannot guarantee it. It seems like it works but I cannot tell. ” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“Up for auction is an Emu Emulator 3.
I’m selling as I’m just not going to have the time to get into this properly.

I purchased this from another eBay seller on September 17th, 2010 and his listing can explain much better than I, and this is what he had to say about this beast!

“You are bidding on an Emu Emulator III model 6081 (8MB upgrade!!) running the latest/last Firmware v2.00 and Software v2.42 *This Emulator III has been fully tested and in 100% all-around excellent working condition!! It has just gone-through an extensive cleaning/servicing/recalibration/upgrading. Every part/component/connection has been cleaned of all dust/residue. Every IC, LED, and ribbon/molex cable was cleaned/re-seated. All buttons, sliders, felt padding, keys/key contacts have been detailed/cleaned for optimal performance. The PSU has also been re-calibrated for a strong/reliable running machine. This EIII also has just been upgraded from a 6081 model to an 8MB 6083 model, as well as upgrading to a 1GB HD!! Please note: I can also offer 1GB CF card modification for an extra fee to those interested (this would replace the 1GB HD that is currently offered in the auction). The Mitsubishi 3.5″ disk drive also works flawlessly!! Both wheel controllers are working as they should, and have also been cleaned/lubricated. The entire keyboard assembly was dismantled/completely cleaned so all keys work/respond beautifully!! If you are familiar with the Emulator III, then you will understand the value of this kind of work. The cosmetic condition of this EIII is also excellent!! The Emu Systems Emulator III is the holy grail of 16-bit samplers, using 16 x CEM3387’s analog filter chips (same as Waldorf Wave/Microwave1), for the most beautiful of sounds!! You won’t find a cleaner/more reliable EIII on the planet, grab this one before someone else does!!” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“I am selling a used E-mu Systems Emulator III sampler keyboard, model number 6081 and serial number 038464. It is running the latest firmware (2.00) and operating system (2.42). If you are reading this auction description, you probably know why the Emulator III is revered and famous. For those who do not, in short: The EIII is the most powerful digital sampler with analog filters ever produced. The analog processing section has the same analog filters – the Curtis Electromusic CEM3387 – as the Waldorf Wave and Microwave synthesizers, among others. And its famous users include Depeche Mode (on “Violator”) and New Order (on “Technique”).

I am loathe to part with this machine, but am running out of space in my home studio and replaced it with an EIII rack model.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“For sale is a vintage and rare Emu Emulator III sampling synthesizer/keyboard. The keyboard is in nice shape. cosmetically very few issues, except the front overlay is very slightly warped (it’s hard to even see it in the pictures). There is also one small chip on one of the keys. Works quite well, though I have not tried every feature (there are tons of options, it’s a very deep machine.) These machines are old and must be sold as is. Great lo-fi sampling sound, similar to the Sp-1200. These were $14,000 back in the day and are still high end production machines, computers just don’t give you the same sampling sound quality that these can give you instantly. It’s like a day and night difference. I believe this one is the 4MB version.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

Unit is in excellent condition both cosmetic and operational (Floppy, Hard Drive, LCD, voices all working). This is the analog version which was a hard find even back in its day and uses 16 Curtis CEM3387 Filters. Unit has never been gigged and has always been properly taken care of. Other than the 1GB Hard Drive upgrade done about 9 years ago (if I remember correctly), the unit is all original and has required no repairs (still has the original rubber feet).” Auction ended.
