this appears to be in good condition, 2 blemishes that i can see, there is a scratch on the console below the LCD (photo 3) and the ‘data entry’ slider knob is missing (photo 4), but the slider can still be operated.

“This is a real classic. The second generation of the ever famous DX7. It’s been around the block and has quite a few scratches on the bottom especially but still works great. This keyboard comes with the memory cartridge and I believe there are some sounds on it. Don’t know a whole lot about this keyboard but I know it works. Nice action.” Link

“I actually have TWO of these. THIS ONE DOES NOT WORK! The other one does. (It’s available in a separate auction). This is the FD model. It has the Grey Matter E! modification which add a 16 track sequencer, allows you to stack or split up to 8 patches at once, and it has a chord mode, all explained by the manual.

I’m fairly certain that the power supply died, since it won’t power up. Before it did this it was working perfectly. It’s in quite good shape cosmetically. Some scratches but nothing major. The screen is in excellent condition.

Some of the patch selection buttons are slightly tempermental. This is a common issue with these old DX models. The buttons all work, it’s just some of them need pushed harder than the others. It’s not a problem for me. If it’s a problem for you, buy my other DX7 IID and use this one for parts.

“I’m the original owner and did use it quite a bit in night clubs back in the 80′s and early 90′s. I always kept it covered or in its custom vinal foam lined case, of which I’m including. The case is a little worn but kept this instrument in excellent condition. The synth has no noticeable blemishes and everything seems to be working perfectly. I gave it a test run for a couple of hours and it didn’t even get warm and still sounded awesome. Some of the buttons have to be pushed a little harder to engage, probably because it hasn’t been played in about 18 years. I didn’t check the disc drive but I presume it still works.

I’m also including a Yamaha FC7 expression/voltage pedal, a dust cover, music rack and several RAM and ROM cartridges including the adaptor cartridge for using the old original DX7 carts, and some 3.5″ floppy discs loaded with many sounds/patches.

Also, I’m including all the original supplemental FM programmer booklets that were mailed to me after I bought it. Including the owners manual there are 19 of these. They can get pretty technical but are a great way to learn how to use this amazing synth and for studying FM digital programming techniques.” Link

“Up for bid is the “Original” YAMAHA DX7 EXPANDED WITH 4 BANKS! NEW BATTERY (CLIP ON) JUST INSTALLED BY MY TECH + ANVIL CASE. Works perfectly! I loaded all the of the orig factory sound on BANK 1. Bank 2 & 3 are also original dx7 sounds that came from ROM#3 cartridge. Bank 4 has some prophet, moog sounds etc…. Fully functional. All controls, keys, membrane buttons works. EVERYTHING WORKS! The foam padding on sides are worn out and slightly peeling off, could use a refoam. The top,bottom,front & rear foams are ok. The keyboard will be wrap to avoid any foam residue. It has all the factory original sounds. Minor marks/scratches/scuffs/dings as you would expect for a synth this old. Two rubber feet missing (not a big deal). There’s a minor plastic missing on the rear side panel-see pix#21

TIP: To engage bank 4, you need to turn the knob just slightly between bank 3 & 4. If you don’t you will not be able to play the bank 4 sounds. It will show bunch of dash —-on the screen. I guess the knob just need to be adjusted” Link

“You are bidding on a Yamaha DX-7 Mark 1 synthesizer serial number 61507. Cosmetically the front panel is in good condition with a few light scratches. All of the membrane switches work really well and the pitch and mod wheel are fine. Mechanically all of the keys play really well which tells me that the keyboard hasn’t been played very much over the years. There is a crack in the plastic and a dent in the metal work near the hinge on the rear right hand corner. There is also a small crack in the right hand plastic end panel. One of the keys does not sound a note but I am sure that it can be easily fixed. Although the power requirement says 100V it does operate on 240V power.
Overall I think that this is a pretty good DX-7 which will be 100% working once the key that doesn’t make a sound is fixed.” Link

- Works, but losses the patches every once in while. According to info on the internet, this is common when the battery needs to be replaced. The guy I got it from a while back says that he had the battery changed out, but it was long time ago. about three screws are missing from the bottom, so tend to believe him. :>)

It only takes a minute to reload the patches – and then it’s good to go for a while. It’s been used in the studio, rather than being a gig board, so it hasn’t been a big deal. If you know how to change the battery, this might be a great buy for you.

“Ich verkaufe hier einen ein wenig restaurierten DX7 (das Stromkabel war defekt als ich das Gerät von einem Kollegen geschenkt bekommen habe, und dieses wurde mit einer Lüsterklemme repariert, für einen Hobby-Elektroniker/Bastler dürfte das Ersetzen des Stromkabels (Lötkenntnisse vorausgesetzt) kein Problem sein.

Wegen dieser kleinen Reparatur (Stromschlaggefahr), verkaufe ich den DX7 aus Platzmangel als defekt, ausserdem wurde eine Taste des Keyboards ersetzt, und von da an funktioniert die Tastatur nur noch teilweise, sowie auf dem Ziffernblock des Displays ist ein Balken defekt (kann man ja ersetzten).

Optisch fehlt dem DX7 nur der Aufsatz des Data Entry Reglers (Plastikkappe), den ich durch einen anderen ersetzt habe, sonst funktioniert das Gerät tadellos (siehe Fotos).

Bieten sollten Sie deshalb nur, wenn Sie ein paar Stunden in das Gerät investieren möchten, und mit den paar kleinen Reparaturen des Gerätes einverstanden sind.” Link

There is a damage to the casing on the lower left corner. A piece of plastic has broken off, exposing internal. See picture below (last one shows the damage). Synthesizer functions are not affected. I tested quite a few sounds and controls and they are all working correctly.

It’s a working Yamaha DX7 II FD synthesiser.

It’s just recently had a new battery fitted and I’ve loaded it up with patches so it makes sounds!

I have tested all the keys and most of the buttons but I can’t test the floppy drive nor the cartridge slot but everything seems to be where it should be so I would assume it’s working okay.

I’ve taken a picture of the keys as one seems to be a little higher than the rest, down the left side of the keyboard, it’s the lowest A key, but all of the keys are working fine so I assume it’s just a cosmetic thing.” Link

Ich verkaufe hier meinen DX7, da mir die Zeit fehlt um mich damit zu beschäftigen.

Ich habe den DX7 vor einem Jahr gekauft und kaum benutzt.

Der Zustand ist relativ, da ich es leider nicht geschafft habe, dem DX7 einen Ton zu entlocken.
Mir wurde berichtet, dass eventuell eine Soundcartridge geladen sein muss.
Aus anderer Quelle wiederum ist die Rede davon, dass nach einer Initialisierung des Synths die Tastaturrange außerhalb der hörbaren Klänge lege.
Wie man dies allerdings bewerkstelligt, wurde mir persönlich nicht ganz klar.

Auf jedenfall will ich das hier erwähnen.

Was die MIDI-Steuerung betrifft, so funktioniert diese einwandfrei, was für mich einen Defekt des DX7 ausschließt.

Nun gut, die Experten wissen was davon zu halten ist und Einsteiger wie ich lassen lieber die Finger von dieser Versteigerung, sonst geht es ihnen nachher dann wie mir:-)” Link
