Manufacture date ~1985
It comes with a Flashstand which is an adjustable height stand. There is no cover or flight case, it is as you see in the photos.
It’s in great condition and has been looked after through the years. All the functions still work, although some of the contacts on the sliders may need cleaning as it has been unused and in storage since its last music project in 2006.
Due to its size and weight, collection only, from Watford, Herts (Junctions 19 – 21 off the M25, or Junctions 5 – 6 off the M1).
Alternately, you can arrange a courier of your choosing at your expense, please bear in mind there is no flight case or cover.
I’m reluctant to sell this as I’ve had it so long, but have fond memories and it is a great synth. Many of the presets have been customised to get the best sounds out of it. These can easily be reset if required.
I have decided to sell it as I’m moving house again and can’t see me using it anytime in the future. I would like it to have a new home

“I’m selling my mid 1980′s Yamaha DX21 Synthesizer. Using the DX21 you can get the Roger Troutman sound that he used in California Love and other songs. Everything works just fine. All the keys, all the patches….EVERYTHING. The only thing on the synthesizer that even looks used is the power cable. The power cable has been taped up with electrical tape where it connects to the synthesizer. Other than that, the synthesizer looks amazing!” Link

“Barely used DX7 just sitting in my room collecting dust. Was purchased here in San Francisco with the intent to do a bunch of depeche mode covers but never did. Not too hard to program just takes patience. The synth is in overall really good condition for its age. The person i bought it from had lost the volume button in their studio. The slider can easily be found on ebay for 15 bucks. There are minor scratches from taking to gigs and practices. Overall this thing works great just plug in an amp and play. It has no ram card, only the preset sounds are on the synths memory. No manual but manual can be found by googling DX 7 manual. ” Link

“This item is a Yamaha DX21 digital programmable algorithm synthesiser. The synth is used (we bought it in over the counter) but it is in great cosmetic condition and full working order. This model was released some time in the 80s so it is quite old, but in great condition. It has 61 keys and loads of great sounds and features. The power lead is built into the back of the synth. I don’t have the original box or a manual, but there is a soft case included as shown. The case is for a much larger synth so is not very useful for protecting this synth. ” Link

“YAMAHA DX21 WORKS! i am selling it because i have too many keyboard , it has a broken mod and to the right of the board the plastic is broken so i taped it together with duct tape , both of these can be fix by getting parts from yamaha and plastic ledge/ screw types i believe r universal ( the one that holds the right part of the keyboard together ) works fine and has many voices

That is why I have it listed for parts or repair but other than that it works. It show signs of wear such as scratches and scrapes. It comes with the box with original styrofoam as well” Link

Unfortunately it doesnt work. Probably the chipboard is old enough and theres just static from its output.
Its looks are not bad for its age. Some blemishes here and there, a missing fader (plastic) but nothing too obvious. I guess with a bit love and some cash you can get this working and rocking with some of the greatest sounds of the 80s. Its a classic but needs some work to revive.” Link

“For sale one Yamaha DX21 AKA Bass Monster! This Keyboard rules! It is a programmable 4 operator FM synth capable of producing bass of almost sumo wrestler proportions! This DX is worth buying for two of the presets alone, Solid Bass and Pluck Bass. Pluck bass is a kind of percussive clunk with a massive bottom end as used on ‘He never lost his hardcore’ and solid bass has featured on thousands of trance and techno tunes as it is the best offbeat bass you will ever hear. Investing in an external FX box (I use a Behringer Modulizer for the filtering and an Alesis Midiverb 4 for the other effects in my live rig) and a used tape deck like one from a C-64 — vintage 1986 — it is the next best thing to a moog if you can’t afford one.
I also really like the portamento on this, sounds like something out of hiphop “oldschool” samples.
Functionally this Keyboard plays fine, inputs midi in / thru / out work etc. Digital display works. It has the usual signs of wear, so would be described as good in condition. It has lost two slider knobs, the pitch shift and modulation have had a bash so are off centre a little, one of the top black keys sticks sometimes. A little TLC would make this synth great condition. ” Link

Bild zeigt, sind diese (bis auf den neben dem DX 21 Logo) fast nicht zu sehen. Das Pitch- und das Modulationsrad sind ein wenig nach rechts geneigt,
funktionieren aber und wackeln kein bisschen.

“Up for sale here is a used Yamaha DX21 keyboard in need of some attention. The keyboard was dropped and the left side end cap was broken off (see photos), and the first key on the left side was knocked loose. The key may be broken inside the keyboard, or it may just need to be pushed back in, but it still works. Operation-wise, the keyboard switches on and powers up fine, and you can still get most of the sounds out of it. It has been in storage for a while, so it is dusty and will need some cleaning. The faders are scratchy and will need to be cleaned with electronics/switch cleaner.
