“For sale is a Oberheim OB-8 w/DSX Sequencer and OB-Expression Pedal. The OB-8 is in great condition and all 8 voices tune up nice. The Sequencer is a perfect match and works well with the OB-8. And an Oberheim Expression Pedal that can be used as a volume or filter sweep pedal. This is a great system. It does have the factory midi installed as well as the proprietary Oberheim Interface. I’ll enclose both owner’s and service manuals. Also, with the system is a 25 pin interface cable for the OB-8 and DSX Sequencer. And lastly, both power cords. Note: this is a package deal, I’ will not break up system for individual sale. This is the only pic as it is in my studio rack setup for playing. Owner pays shipping and handling. Happy Bidding! Used it years ago (about 5) and it worked great. Stored it for 5 years and now it powers on but no sound comes out.

Repeat, lights up, all circuitry inside looks fine, but NO SOUND.

I am not an electronic tech, but went through the trouble years back to obtain service manuals for both keyboard and sequencer. This is good practice for any vintage electronics, as they aren’t easy to come by when you need a tech to fix them.

Most likely the malfunction is a loose card or cable inside somewhere, but I don’t have the time to debug it.

No missing/broken knobs/cards or anything. Only noticable flaw in keyboard is a serial jack shaped hole on the back that used to house the serial cable interface to the DSX. I used it for years with the cable going directly inside to the board with no problems. I do not have the interface cable to the DSX, but this is a standard serial ribbon cable (I made one years ago but it got lost in the move).

As with any vintage piece, this comes AS IS, with No warranty. Since it doesn’t make sound, there is no DOA guarantee either. You are buying this sucker to refurbish, but with the manuals it should be a snap for a real tech.

“This is the vintage polyphonic sequencer made by Oberheim for the DX Drum Machine. This unit was purchased at a storage auction and was plugged in for the photos taken. No other testing was attempted as I have nothing to trigger with it. It lights up and the other items I got from this place worked fine. The condition is good as far as the body is concerned but you will have to take a close look at the photos because this is an as-is auction and no returns are accepted. This was a system in which several newly released pieces of Oberheim gear could be easily connected and synchronized. These included the lush OB-8 eight voice synth, the DMX drum machine, and the DSX Digital Polyphonic Sequencer. The DSX can interface directly with other Oberheim synths as well, including the OB-Xa, OB-SX, and OB-X. The DSX can synchronize to the DMX, or it can control the OB-synths. In addition to controlling these synths, the DSX features 8 CV and Gate outputs to control up to 8 more other analog synthesizers!
