” I am selling my vintage CASIO CZ-5000 synthesizer. I am the 2nd owner, having obtained it in the early 90′s from a good friend. It’s in perfect working condition. All the fader knobs are intact. This is the largest and arguably best synth CASIO ever produced, with 16 voices, 8 oscillators, 61 keys, MIDI support, and a built-in sequencer. It’s been used by the Orb, Jean-Michel Jarre and Ariel Pink on his early home-recorded output. The CZ-5000 has an expanded waveform memory for even more sounds and thicker sounds. It’s like having two stacked CZ-1000 synths all at once! Casio’s CZ series of phase-distortion digital synths make for a unique sound. After all, there are 8-stage envelopes and 2 oscillators per voice for a thicker tone. Their sound is similar to the Yamaha DX synths but is much easier to program. The CZ-5000 may be at the pinnacle of Casio’s synthesizer line.

The Synth is in good condition for it’s age, it does have scratches on the case and the “Chorus” plastic button is missing but that can be replaced and the function and fader still work properly.
I tested it to best of my knowledge.

“this synth is 25+ years old. that being said it is sold as is! everything works fine on this board but it is missing the last key shown in pics..( highest pitch) and is well used, & has some stickers on face and ends as well as usual wear/surface scuffs are only damage to this CZ. a copied manual and power supply are included as well as the original Casio stand.” Link

My Casio CZ-5000, has been a good friend, but he needs to find a new home. I love the CZ-series synthesizers, and the CZ-5000 was the “beast,” of them all. The Phase Distortion type synthesizer was one of Casio’s last efforts into the realm of professional synthesizers, and one impressive giant. Essentially it melded two CZ-1000′s together, and added a sequencer.
Dirty yet clean, strange and yet great to program and play, the strange and nostalgic 1985 sound is what these are known for. These have a dirty sound to them, with a little hiss and noise inherent to the 25 year old design. It will not sound like a perfect Grand Piano. That’s not what they did. Know this when buying.
This CZ-5000 has nothing wrong with it spare a missing slide knob on Stereo/Chorus (see above the pitch bend/mod wheel and “Volume,” in the picture at the left), and a rice-grain sized chip out of the underside bump-stop of the “D1,” key, which you can only see if looking at the underside of the keys from the front of the keyboard. Neither of these affect play.
