“This listing is for a Yamaha CS-80 vintage analog synthesizer. The unit is 100% functional and while the tolex has seen better days and a some of the preset buttons have worn it is still in nice cosmetic shape. I just had the synth fully serviced and it is in perfect working order.” Link

“Near mint condition and fully working machine here, only things wrong if you can say that is a slider shaft is slighty bent and cap missing for it, and one voice is slightly detuned to the rest of the 7 voices, but if the overall oscillator detune isnt used too much its not noticable. fabulous synth. chrome is like a mirror, very shiny, has the lid and original manual and music stand that fits to the top of the synth. this synth has a rare mod, red box modification where the power supply is removed externally to prevent internal heat,

comes with accessories, 2 footpedals, manual as stated, a spare power supply, and a box of spare keys, ” Link

” This is a one owner CS 80 and has been well taken care of all it’s life. I purchased this amazing machine in early 1979 at the old Westwood Music location in Los Angeles. I loaned it to Bonnie Raitt that summer for a couple of weeks until her keyboard player could get his own. That is the only time it has been on the road. In return for the use of CS 80 they bought me a custom Anvil road case worth over $1500 which is included in this auction. The synth has been used primarily in the studio over the years. Since I moved to Nashville in late 1989 it has been stored in it’s road case or used in my smoke free home studio. It still has the original legs and pedals and the vinyl case they fit in. I no longer have the original manual but one can be downloaded online.
Most of you looking at this auction know about this amazing instrument. If you don’t I suggest you google the Yamaha CS 80 as there is a wealth of knowledge about it online.
There were only about 2000 made worldwide with only about 1000 still around. The serial number on this machine is 1308.
The synth is fully functional with all original parts. It could probably use a tuning once it gets to its new location as it’s been a couple of years since it’s been tuned” Link

“This is a vintage Yamaha CS-80 synthesizer. It comes with the power cord, case, and sheet music stand, there are no legs. It has been tested by a professional. He said that all hardware and panel controls are working properly and it has really great sound. He did note that three of the oscillators had problems, I have shown a scan of his diagnosis. There are no missing or damaged keys, knobs, etc. The unit is in very nice condition with very little signs of use. The top of the case does have scuffs and wear. One corner of the plastic sheet music stand is chipped. I have taken several pictures for your examination.” Link

I just had the synth fully serviced and it is in perfect working order. If the unit is shipped it will most likely need to be re-tuned though as this thing is highly sensitive to travel. I don’t have the legs but cover is included. ” Link

“This synth is in super minty clean condition! It has never been gigged – spent it’s life thus far in studios. Everything is in perfect working condition i.e. pots, sliders, presets, etc. Comes with the original stand and/or the super sturdy one (made from a few other stands).” Link

“If you have one of the 800 vintage Yamaha CS80s and you don’t have one of these then you need this to make your VINTAGE synthesizer complete. This Yamaha foot pedel is in excellent condition, a little dusty but other than that it is in remarkably great condition. There is no fraying in the cord and it is tightly attached to the pedel. It is 9 1/2″ long and stands 2 1/2″ high. You will not find one of these anywhere, I cant. This is truly a rare find.” Link

“After much deliberation and sadness I’m selling my CS-80. Just been serviced by Kent Spong so if you need to know tech info about what he did you’re best getting in touch with him. I know that it works 100% and he fitted a ribbon controller which it lost at some point.

The CS I’ve owned since the early 90s. Used it sparingly until around 2006 when I got back into the sound of it. Massive service by Kent around then, its featured on an album I did. “The Meeting” by Hudson Fall. All the synths are the CS80. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbcuasedhH8 you can see it and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9vZVPnPrBo&feature=related you can hear it (its not the organ thing i’m pretending to play)!!

I’m not electronically minded at all, i’m a piano player who loves the performance aspect of the 80, and i don’t want to sell it. Feel free to get in touch to view it. Or I can make a quick flip video of me playing it and stick it on youtube. Arrange your own freight, its too heavy for me to sort.

Please look after her!” Link

“Yes this is a genuine Yamaha CS80 CS-80 vintage analog synth synthesizer. It works perfectly, with one exception, which is that the light illuminating I string 1 does not turn on. The voice works fine, it’s just the little bulb inside the switch that is not in service. It is in very good cosmetic condition with some scuffs to the outside of the case. There is no aluminum support stand (which we understand was flimsy anyway). To make up for this we will contribute an extra-sturdy QuikLok WS-540 monitor stand, which is capable of holding the heaviest equipment (and upon which this synth has sat during our ownership). It does not have a flight case or a lid. The little music stand that may at one time have come with it has gone missing. We have had this synth for at least a decade. We no longer have room for it in our ultra-crowded electro-acoustic music sound stage. We are trying to create additional floor space to make it more practical for actual band rehearsals. ” Link

yamaha_cs80_1 “This Vintage Yamaha CS-80 is in perfect working over ,it’s been in storage for years, but i just had it service for the sake of selling it

this keyboard toured with Cameo in the late 70′s ,there was 2000 of these manufactured in 1977 ,the s/n is 1306 , cosmetically the tolex is ripped in spot and shows wear but the keyboard is fine and the control panel is really clean it has been cased since the mid 80′s

it weighs 180 lbs. plus the stand ,there is a old blue/green anvil case that would be best for shipping it ,the foam is destroyed in the case but it would still work for a one time ship, if you don’t want the case then i’ll dispose of it,” Link cs80_2cs803cs80_4

“If you are familiar with CS-80s, you know that they are extremely expensive in today’s marketplace. I believe the going rate has been around $9000, and one actually sold last February on eBay for $15000. Again, obviously a ton of money. However, if you happen to be considering buying one, I can tell you that this is absolutely the best one you’ll find.
IT’S COMPLETE. This CS-80 comes with ALL original accessories. Lid, legs, pedals, music stand, owner’s manual, original purchase receipt, leatherette carrying case for legs. These aren’t shown in the pictures (except the legs), but are indeed included and all in very good condition. In addition, this auction includes a clear plastic dust cover to go over the CS-80 – allowing you to keep dust out, but still see your prize in the studio. This is shown in one of the photos.
THE CONDITION. It has only seen light home studio use in its life. There is a bit of scuffing on the bottom, and a few nicks along bottom edges. But every outward or upward facing surface is pretty much in perfect condition. Note that the rear tolex has a little bit of adhesive residue type coloration that showed up in the picture you see; the tolex is perfectly intact however. This CS-80 really plays like new. A couple of the sliders you don’t touch much are a little stiffer than new I suppose – though not bad – but the keyboard, performance controls, etc. are just like playing a new CS-80.
STABLE VERSION. This is one of the latter CS-80s, purchased new in March 1981. Don’t believe everything you read about these being tuning nightmares, I don’t think this has ever been touched by a technician and I consider its tuning to be just fine as is. I think there were some improvements made over the course of the production run in this regard, so latter ones are fine and earlier ones have problems.
I can’t promise it won’t need a tuning after being moved. Also, I recommend that the 4000 series CMOS be swapped out, which is maybe a $500 job. I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with any of the Yamaha ASICs, or anything that will impede your full & immediate enjoyment of this keyboard.”
