“Used Yamaha CS-15 in good condition. All working and stable tuning. Only two plastic fader caps missing next to the pitch modulation (see photo), but of course the faders are fully functional. More photos to follow or ask for photos if you want more. Lots of information on the internet. One outstanding feature is the ultra fast Lfo which you can tune to make interesting percussive sounds. Collection preferred, but can be posted if needed. The synth is in London W3, testing no problem.” Link

“Up for bid is my beloved Yamaha CS-15 analog synth. Sounds amazing and unique–I’ve owned a maxikorg, a few minikorgs, a Pro-1, and would use this as a lead over any of them. Deep lows, awesome lfo, external in, perfectly functioning 37-note keyboard.

Could definately use a cleaning inside, of some of the pots and switches. Missing knobs for portamento, brilliance, and pitch bend sliders. Also, knob for EG 1 is broken off but still fully functioning. I wil include this. The body of the synth is in awesome shape.” Link

“Today I am auctioning off my Yamaha CS-15 Vintage Analog Synthesizer. This synthesizer sounds great and is in very good condition overall. There’s a few cracks in the plastic side panels, which can be seen in the photos below, but nothing major. The power plug has been upgraded, which you can see in the picture. This synth is great for the sound designer and audiophile, be it used for sound fx or electronic music production. With it’s large array of facilities (Two VCFs, two ASDRs, two VCOs, FAST LFO) nearly any kind of sound can be created, be it traditional epic basslines or fantastic screaming leads.” Link

“I am selling a vintage Yamaha CS-15 synthesizer. This unit is in great shape but has 3 broken sliders and one broken knob. I have tried to show the broken knobs in the pictures. ALL still work perfectly. They are still in good working order, controls and have been tested. True vintage synth sound .” Link

“Hello Analog People. THIS IS AN AWESOME SYNTH. I’ve had two of these since the late 1980’s, kept one around as a spare. Neither one has ever had a problem. I don’t need two anymore – have to cut down on the arsenal, I have too much clutter. Gone are the days when I used to set them both up and pretend I was Rick Wakeman. Even so I’m sorry to part with this one. I would NEVER sell them both. I dearly wish Yamaha hadn’t abandoned analog in the 1980’s – they made a lot of progress. This has really fat low end – a bass player buddy of mine asked to borrow this for awhile to use for bass sounds sometimes in a reggae band and he loved it. It sounds a lot like a Moog and stays in tune much better. When I bought this from the original owner it was in a hard case (included) and they told me they hadn’t opened the case in several years. When I fired it up it was STILL IN CONCERT PITCH!! This beast holds pitch like nothing else I’ve ever owned.

Sorry no manual with this but it’s very intuitive. The front panel has a flowchart (literally!) that shows you the possible signal paths which are actually pretty basic. Anyway no instruction book can replace your own experimentation. As Ray Kurzweil put it – “Analog Synths are really a black art, you turn a knob until something feels good”.” Link

cs15 “Vintage Yamaha CS-15 analogue synthesiser in immaculate, virtually unused condition. I brought this brand new in about 1981-1982, messed around with it for about 6 months then put it away. It has been stored, wrapped up, ever since and I’ve been meaning to list it on ebay for about 2 years so I’ve finally got round to it. It even comes complete with the original Owners Manual. For more information about this synth you can visit www.vintagesynth.org or just Google CS-15, there’s plenty of information about them. I plugged it in this morning, connected it up to a little practice amp and ran through all the controls and it all still seems to work OK. It makes some really strange sounds. There is a voltage switch on the back so it can be run on different power supplies.” Link

cs15 “Vintage Yamaha CS-15 synth. True VCO-based analog oscillators with dual filters and two envelopes back from the era when a realtively wacky design like this could be sold with impunity. This was the model of synth used by Daft Punk to get that famous “Da Funk” sound. The filters are a real gem and offer multiple high, low and bandpass modes. It’s also great for external processing via the input. It has an overall sound far different from the typical Moog or Oberheim synth of the era, less brassy and biting, but if you rout the headphone output back into the input you can quickly achieve distorted and fuzzy tones.

I upgraded it last year to include new (and very attractive) solid walnut end cheeks from Synthwood. I can send you the old plastic ones if you like as well, since I still have them (though they have a few nicks and chips in them!)

Buyers, please be advised: although this synth is in overall very good condition it does have a couple of flaws and it is 3 decades old. There are a couple of scratchy pots and one of the envelope sliders only functions over 95% of its travel (in the last 5% it seems to cut out for some reason). Otherwise it’s in excellent working condition with all knobs, sliders and electronics present and functioning and in good cosmetic condition, but no warranty is expressed or implied and no returns or refunds will be considered.” Link

cs15 “Is a YAMAHA cs-15 anolog vintage synthersizer. The unit is in pretty good shape for its age (1979)…Although one of the plastic knobs on a slider is missing (see pic), the slider still works using the metal bar.

All pots seem to respond very well and the audio inputs/outputs worked well last time i tested it. The only thing that i have not tested is the CV gate control jacks…But i presume they work just as the others do. ” Link

cs15 “This item is being re-listed as the winning bidder was unable to complete the transaction. Up for auction is a Vintage Yamaha CS-15 Synthesizer. It is in 100% Fully Functional Operational condition. No noisy pots, switches, sliders or jacks. Cosmetically, it is in very good condition, perhaps an 8 out of 10. There is one small blemish near the Portamento slider, which appears to be a small burn, hardly noticable. ( See Photo ) The original case is also in very good condition with just a few small scuffs. The handle, hinges and latches are all intact and functioning. The Blue Velvet interior is near immaculate. ( When have you ever seen one of these in their original case ? )

Included is the owners manual, in a binder, with each sheet in protective plastic. Also included are all service diagrams, with large ( 11 X 17 ) diagrams of circuit boards, IC chips and components. Also included is some rare original sales/promotional material. This outstanding CS-15 has a three-prong power cord, and is rated at 120V, U.S., so no power converter is needed !

The Yamaha CS-15 is equipped with 2 complete VCO’s, VCF’s, VCA’s, and EG’s. In theory, it is two separate monophonic, or “duophonic” systems. There are also many sound source routing possibilities, which lends a semi-modular approach to sound synthesis. Please check out the reviews at harmony central or vintage synths for a more comprehensive understanding of it’s operational capabilities.” Link

cs15 “Up for auction is a Yamaha CS 15 Analog Synthesizer. Everything works as it should. It’s missing 3 slider caps on the control section at the bottom left of the unit next to the keyboard. The sliders still work, however. Other than that it’s in fine shape.” Link

cs15 “Here is a authentic vintage Yamaha Analog Synthesizer. This is the real deal and everything looks and works perfectly. Very clean and warm classic sounds. I have been able to get some of the same sounds from this unit as produced by the EMS VCS 3 as used in some of the early pink floyd stuff (Welcome to the machine). Please keep in mind this synthesizer is 30 years old and the process for creating patches is much different than modern day synths. The knob labels do not show up well in the pictures because of the flash on my camera but they are not faded at all. This unit even comes with an authentic Yamaha hard carrying case made specifically for this synth. The keyboard is a 100 volt synth so I have included the power converter as shown in the picture. Don’t miss out on a piece of history and an awesome sounding synth. I will even include a couple patch sheets of sounds. ” Link cs152

cs15_1 “This is a vintage Yamaha CS-15, Classic Analog Synthesizer. Very clean, great analog sound & perfect working condition. All the keys have nice action & all knobs & sliders perform smoothly. Cosmetically: excellent, looks like it’s only a year old. No issues, only a few very light scatches. Extremely powerful analog sounds, deepest bass & super clear highs. Very versatile synthesizer for classic synth & experimental sounds. I’ve created Moog & VCS-3 sounds with this & have included (6) patch sheets for you to check out. A copy of the original manual plus service manual & schematics are included. This is the 120 V model which you can just plug in & play in the USA, no bulky power converter is needed.” Link cs15_2cs_15_3

“Is in excellent condition cosmetically and functionally. No missing knobs and everything is working well. It has the odd tiny mark and a couple of stickers on the back but nothing of note. It comes with an original hardcase which is optional if buyer doesn’t want to ship it – It can be shipped combined or split into two shipments ” Link

“Up for sale is a Yamaha CS-15 bitimbral analog monosynth, along with a hand-built Mochika analog sequencer (search ebay for others, I believe he still sells them here). The synth is fully functional and was serviced about a year ago, there is a small dent on the top of the keyboard but it has been checked out and is 100%. The Mochika provides an 8-step cv/gate sequencer that can be synced to a click input from a trigger or old analog drum machine (would go very well with a 606 or similar), and effectively makes this the equivalent of a CS-40. Each CS-15 oscillator has it’s own CV input and it can be set up to run as a dual monosynth given the two vcfs and vcas. There is also an audio input which is run through the filters and can be used as a trigger. Run your bass drum through the highpass filter and it’ll blow out your speakers. I really can’t say enough about the filters here, they’re just liquid smooth. Pains me to let it go, but I’m moving and a buddy is offering me a great deal on an SH-101 so it’s time to pass it along. ” Link
