“This bid is for a Crumar BIT One Synthesizer/keyboard in good working condition.
Comes with a hard case, lead and copy of manual.
There is a small chip on the underside of the last key on the right of keyboard ,but this does not affect the playing or feel of the synth .I Have taken a picture of this also.
The hard case is well worn but still functional, it has protected this synth well over the years.
it was used in a band when bought as new back in the day, by my friends son who used it and after a few years the band split and this synth was put into storage where it stayed until a few years ago when it was found and given to me to play with, which i have briefly but i am not really a synth player but do play piano, i havent got time to learn how to play this properly so i want it to goto someone who can better appreciate and get the best out of it cos its got a great sound and there probably arent many left in the world anymore.” Link
“Some keys responding only with hard press. Minor scratches to fascia. 3 keys with glue on them.” Link

“With regret, I’m selling my vintage Italian 80s polysynth…Crumar Bit One.
This synth works great…EXCEPT FOR ONE THING…I am having difficulties getting it to retain the patches I create. I want to tell you about this up front so that I accurately describe this instrument. Here’s the story…
I bought this synth a few years ago from Switched on Austin (specialty analog synth shop in TX). They had refurbished it. I used this synth to record my last two albums without any issue at all. Now, I’m working on my final album and It is losing all of my patches if it stays powered off for a few hours. If I create a patch, save it, power off, then back on a bit later…it’s still there. But if it remains off for the majority of a day…the patch is gone. It reverts back to the default random noises.
I thought it was a simple dead battery. So I replaced it. It worked great for about a week. Kept my patches. Beautiful! Now now…it’s back to misbehaving. Losing patches after a few hours of powering down. I know that’s a long explanation…but there ya go. I think it’s something more than just a bad battery. I included photos of the insides so you can see that everything is in great condition, including the battery holder and board.
The tape save / load function works fine. So if you didn’t want to fuss with the battery, you could save all your patches that way. It’s maybe not the most convenient thing in the world, but it’d get the job done. ” Link
“Crumar Bit One Synthesizer with no known issues. Plays great. A couple minor scuffs on the side panels, consistent with the synth’s age. If you are looking at this you probably already know as much about this synth as I do. Presets sound great (totally 80′s) and programming is made easy by the diagram on top.” Link

“Up for Auction is a Crumar Bit One synth. The sound of the synth is somewhat in the range of the Juno 106 and was out around the same time. There is a write up you will find on this synth at the vintagesynth site.
This one is cosmetically clean, however it has some issues that will need to be addressed by a tech:
The synth powers on fine but the audio output is somewhat low and noisy, specifically via the phones jack.
The internal battery has long since died and will need to be replaced. As a result the patches are all scrambled.
The panel buttons seem somewhat sticky to respond when selecting patches and editing.
I found when attempting to edit patches that they keyboard will simply freeze after a few minutes. I would imagine this is a power supply issue and can probably be fixed pretty easily.
Unfortunately the keys have yellowed somewhat, which is probably can only be fixed by replacing them.
As you can see from one of the photos even the underside of this keyboard is relatively free of scratches and there are no dents of any kind, which is pretty amazing for a synth that is 30 years old.” Link
“Rare Crumar Bit One Poly Synth Ser#BS/00540
Powered up no problem and the keys all function ( to the best of my Knowledge) Needs clean-up
Mod & Pitch bend work , the noise & detune work, as far as programming ,Who knows?
These are selling in perfect condition on Ebay for $500-$750 we’ll start @ $324.99 to give you room for reloading the factory presets And clean-up
minor surface wear (see pics), comes with a replacement standard 3 prong power cable
All level keys, no stuck or broken keys ” Link
” Expect a few cosmetic blemishes and a couple dings in the case. One key has been repaired and there is a chip in another. This item has a new battery and has had the factory patches reloaded.
History:This item was acting buggy and had the classic scrambled patches from a dead battery. I replaced several capacitors and an opamp in the tape interface and was able to get the patches to reload correctly after replacing the battery. The jacks have also been replaced for reliability.
This keyboard plays in-tune and sounds really nice. The de-tune lever is pitch centered and works well. Due to the lack of any available service documentation for this instrument, that is the extent of the calibration that was preformed. This instrument is similar to an esq-1 but it has a different timber and thicker sound in my opinion. Great sounding keyboard. ” Link

Link
“CRUMAR BIT 01 /// BIT01 /// BIT-01
SECHSSTIMMIGER VOLLANALOGER SYNTH /// EXPANDER DES CRUMAR BIT 99
GANZ SELTENE WEISSE VERSION
Link
” Synthesis engine seems to be working fine. Wheels and keyboard seem to be OK.
This instrument has not been used for many years. As a result, output jacks on rear of instrument (Lower & Upper (Mono)) are noisy/output erratically (oxidisation issue, possibly??).
Battery needs replacing, as one might expect(!)
Instrument needs a service.
Physically/cosmetically in very good condition.
Not mint condition, some small scratches and marks, but they are very minor in nature.
Being sold as is, as a spares & repairs machine, in need of a service, with no returns.
It is assumed that any issue (such as behaviour of the main outputs) can be remedied with a
professional service, but no guarantees can be offered.” Link
“Hi here we have my amazing crumar bit one synth from the birth of midi back in the 80s
This was made in Italy and the paint job is shoddy ( like other italian synths , jen springs to mind ) it has a tendency to flake and bubble off
I have bear metal-ed were needed
i have treated it with krust and touched it up as best I can and it looks ok but most importantly its been stabilised and protected so it shouldn’t deteriorate any further for many years to come , it’s never gonna be a minter but it looks fine as long as your not scrutinising it up close ,
There is a crack or scratch on one of the keys it’s totally stable I’ve never had a problem with it, it works perfect
Most importantly it works perfectly all buttons , sliders , keys all function properly” Link
” This is a fully-functional Crumar Bit One analog synth. It sounds really good and I couldn’t find any issues with it. I play keyboards and bought this about a year ago, but I need to do a little spring cleaning. Too any synths!
I don’t see many Bit One’s floating around. They’re a very unique-looking synth. It’s got a sleek black metal (not plastic) case with red LED displays. It’s got six-note polyphony that allows you to split the keyboard and mix two different patches together. But the best part is that it’s got a very responsive velocity-sensitive keyboard. Very few analog synths had velocity-sensitive keyboards, and they were all typically the ultra-expensive models. It’s a real joy to play! It also has a funny “Detune” slider control that lets you adjust how much the oscillators are detuned. A very easy way to fatten up the sound. Other polyphonic synths may allow you to do the same thing, but not this easily! It’s also got MIDI control, of course.
Cosmetically it’s in good shape. Wear is reasonable for its age. The hard case is very sturdy but looks like it’s seen better days. These old hard cases rarely look pretty, anyway, since they were designed to take all the beatings. This one has some rust and dings, but it looks to be very solid. Like I said, everything looks to be working fine, but I’m selling this as-is due to its age.
Speaking of the hard case, this thing is heavy! The auction is for both the synth and hard case, of course. However, if you want to lighten the shipping costs and you don’t really want the hard case, I’d be happy to ship just the synth and help you save on the shipping costs. The synth by itself is 26 pounds. The hard case is another 36 pounds. Local pickup is also fine too. ” Link

“This unit is in excellent condition. It shows only slight wear in a few places. The aluminum end cheeks have been replaced with real wood(oak, originals will be included if you ever prefer to switch back) and the panel LEDs are varied in color (red, yellow, green, and blue) rather than all red. Internally, the power supply has been rebuilt and the other electrolytic capacitors have been replaced, to make this solid for some time to come. It is preloaded with the factory patches (63)” Link
Link
“For sale is the very rare Unique DBE rack-mount analog synthesizer. Per research, it was sold overseas as the Crumar Bit 1 (or Bit 01). It was manufactured by Crumar in Italy in around 1985.
The unit is in great operational and physical shape (see photos) with some minor scratches commensurate with its age. It has been carefully stored for around 20 years in a climate controlled studio. ” Link

“CRUMAR BIT ONE SYNTHESIZER
HAVING A SORT OUT IN MY STUDIO AND I HAVEN’T USED THIS FOR SOME TIME, SO DECIDED TO LET HER GO..
ALL SEEM TO BE WORKING AS SHE SHOULD BE, AFTER HAVING TO RESET SOME CONNECTOR, BUT STILL PRODUCES SOME GREAT SOUNDS FROM YEARS PAST.
CONDITION FOR HER AGE ISN’T TO BAD, FRONT PANEL HAS SOME BLISTERING AND THE SCREEN PRINT IS WORN IN PLACES, SHE COULD DO WITH A SERVICE AS I HAVE A FEELING SHE HAS A FEW DRY JOINT OR JUST DIRTY CONNECTOR, BUT WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FOR A VINTAGE MACHINE??” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.
“Crumar Bit One Analog Synthesizer. This keyboard is being sold as is for parts or repair. the keyboard does power up but has some issues: there are four keys that are not working, there is a dent on the top left corner, noisy headphone jack, all buttons are working but some need to but pressed a few times. Some of the lines in the upper voice Display are out. i changed the battery and loaded the factory patches and had it playing for a couple days then all of a sudden started having hanging notes, sounds would play but is like it has the release all the way up and wont stop.” Auction ended. “Bit One Vintage Synth
80′s Analog Digital Hybrid
There is plenty of information on this synth online so I do not intend to go into a technical description here
vintagesynth and synthmuseum are good websites to visit
As potential bidders/buyers will see this is a low start no reserve auction so the synth will sell
I will tell you what I know (1), what I do not know (2) and what I can guess (3) about this synth so please read carefully
(1) This synth was made in the mid 80′s by Crumar (an Italian company) it retailed then at £800
The original owner decided to emigrate to the States and wanting to travel light sold all his gear before going
The synth has since been stored protected in a dry cosy loft for some 20 plus years and was rather “out of sight out of mind”
The cosmetic condition of the synth is Very Good, certainly Excellent for age with very few marks indeed
The synth is a UK voltage model taking a kettle type lead and powered up first time without issue
(2) I have listened to the synth through headphones and although I do not have the instructions, have achieved various “synth type” sounds
I would describe them as very 80′s and Human League’s “Love Action” immediately came to mind!
The digital numbers illuminated, the keys all seemed to function and different settings achieved different sounds
Having said that I have no real idea of how this should sound or what is expected of various settings and there are functions I do not know how to access
(3) I understand the synth has a settings back up battery, this is bound to need replacing
The bend and mod wheels and the volume, detune & noise sliders will likely need cleaning with a deoxit/faderlube type product
I understand the IC’s are socketed and would probably benefit from a remove clean and re-seat
Capacitors will fail over time but given the ultra low use of this synth they are likely ok here
It is highly likely the synth will not be in tune after so many years so adjustment will probably be required
In summary this is a Vintage Synth of the Mid 80′s costing rather alot for back then but starting at .99p now
With known history of little use and lots of storage.
Presented in very good indeed cosmetic condition but likely to require a service/tune-up
which the new owner will have to decide themselves whether they can d.i.y or refer to a synth engineer” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.
Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.
“Crumar Bit One synth in very good cosmetic condition. It has a fault on it, some of the keys sound intermittantly and not all of the voices work correctly, needs a service to get it back to full working order and I just don’t have the time to have it repaired. It is all complete and unmolested, it is the later model with CEM voice chips, these alone are probably worth £80 or more.
So, in view of the above it is been sold as non working for spares or repair only and no returns.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.
