This unit is modified for tweaking the sound parameters. The condition is good.

From a very subtle bass drum in a unmoded unit, you can now get distorted hard-core kicks. (or anything between)

A previous owner has drilled two holes in the side for separate audio outputs for example handclap.

All parts are included (some endcaps for dials and such is removed in the picture)

Function: Works very well except that some buttons are oxidized and reacts badly. You have to use force!

Sometimes I have noticed that it would not work at first boot but had to restart, can be that I fitted into a MIDI interface (not included, did it not work either)

1st off – the battery compartment door is missing. It’s been a while since I opened up the unit but I don’t believe that the battery holder is even wired…so that needs to be fixed if you want to keep your patterns stored when the unit is not plugged in. However, if you leave the unit plugged in (doesn’t have to be “on”) it will store your patterns.

Everything else works great! This is a very nice beat box – with very unique features like switching patterns in real-time (in the middle of a beat) without “losing a beat”. You can also set up fills and switch those in the middle of a beat, too. You can set up auto-fills on the end of a pattern. You can mix “preset” patterns and individual drum voice patterns with your own user-patterns. ” Link

Dieses Exemplar hat durchaus Gebrauchsspuren. Die Potis funktionieren. Einige Taster brauchen manchmal einen zweiten Schubs. Die beiden Taster CY-8″ und HH4″ (mit denen man gerade 8tel Cymbals und 4tel Hihats zuschalten kann) müssten auf jeden Fall gereinigt oder ausgetauscht werden. (Man kann HiHats und Cymbals aber wie bei der 808 auch im Pattern programmieren und dann per Poti rein und rausdrehen). Die Programmierung der Patterns funktioniert, die Programmiertaster funktionieren problemlos.

NOTE: What makes this CR machine very valuable over other CR-8000 machines is that it has SEPARATE OUTS modded for each drum sound! So you can have different effect chains for each drum sound. You can see them in the picture of the back panel.

COSMETIC CONDITION: Excellent! This machine has been well taken care of and cosmetically it is in beautiful condition ! all buttons, knobs, LEDS are all in perfect condition!

FUNCTIONAL CONDITION: Everything is in FULL working condition. The only minor issue is that if it hasn’t been used for a couple of months you would have to repeatedly press some of the buttons to get the contacts working again. No need of opening anything up or even worse contact spray! NOTE: This is something very common with the Roland CR-series. ” Link

I have had loads of classic drum machines, including three of these, and this one is my number one favourite and the best condition of any CR8000 that I have seen. All the CR8000s I have seen have had faded and discoloured casing, this one doesn’t – it is a lovely smooth beige! Of course it is obviously used and on close inspection you can see markings and scuffing on the casing, minor marking on the buttons etc. Difficult to pick up in photos but I will happily email you my high res shots if you ask me. All the graphics are in top quality, none missing or worn. Generally I would say this is in excellent condition.

The best thing is that all the buttons and knobs work perfectly! No sticky switches, scratchy pots etc. The only very minor issue that I can find is that when you turn the tempo knob it tends to skip tempos while you are turning (you can see this in the video), but when you stop turning it sits on the tempo perfectly (tempo is also controllable by DIN input on rear).

Of course the best thing about it are the sounds… All analog beautiful drum sounds, full of character and classic vibe. It has built in patterns as well as the ability to make your own patterns with an on/off step sequencer two button arrangement. The drum sounds have individual level knobs and pattern buttons. Trigger output (can trigger an SH101 for example), DIN sync, footswitch input, jack out. I also have a photocopied manual.” Link

It contains a wide selection of preset rhythms, as well as slots for programming your own. The tempo knob works perfectly and accurately sets the tempo, but the square selector buttons have become less sensitive with age. They work fine, but they may require repeated presses to select some rhythms or functions. I’m sure that a technician or someone adept with fixing drum machines would be able to fix this admittedly minor problem, which of course has no impact on sound quality. Also, a decorative piece of orange plastic has fallen off of one of the mixer pots.

Lets first state that it absolutely sounds perfect and no cracks in the sounds or what so ever.

the issues are:
- Band selector switch 2 does not work and it’s operation is replaced by a switch on the left side, clearly visible on the photograph.
So it’s functional.
- preset 2 and 6 do not work,.
- On/Off switch is stuck in the On position and doesn’t jump back when pressed.

These issues might be solvable by someone handy.
