“Here is the RARE ROLAND COMPU MUSIC CMU-800R SYNTHESIZER & COMPU SYNC CMU-802 UNIT. Unit is a faboulous classic and very hard to find. This unit must be used with vintage apple computer… Unit will be professionally packed, I know how to pack them, no worry.” Link
“I am selling a vintage Roland Compu Music CMU-800R. I know little about this unit other than it looks like a sequencer/mixer. Powers up wonderfully. Because I can’t test this unit, it’s being sold as-is.” Link
“This is a quality built vintage piece that we know nothing about except that it is supposedly a very early analog synth (or control surface??) that integrates with Apple or Commodore Computers. Cosmetically, it has a few scrapes, but still looks good. Electronically… at the least, it NEEDS A REPAIR TO THE RIBBON CABLE, (has possible punctures, tears and / or abrasions), so unless you can solder and rig some jumpers into the bad spots, this may not be the one you should bid on. Great parts though! A quality case, knobs and faders, if nothing else.
Appears to be new, but it is untested with visible scrapes and ribbon cable problems… no supporting docs or software, except for this link to a manual we found online” Link

“Up for sale is a Roland CMU-800R which comes with its original box and Apple interface card. Neither the manual or the software are included with this auction, I assume these went away with our old Apple computer at a yard sale many years ago. The unit powers on, but since I don’t have the software, no further testing has been done so this is being sold as-is with no returns. Picture is of actual item for sale. Box has some shelfwear and a small stain on the front. Comes from a smoke-free environment. ” Link
“THE FACE IS ABOUT 13 INCHES BY 7 INCHES AND IT WEIGHS JUST OVER 6&1/2 POUNDS. I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT WORKS OR NOT, THE POWER LIGHT LIGHTS UP WHEN PLUGGED IN, THATS ALL I KNOW. THIS UNIT IS BEING SOLD AS-IS. COSMETICALLY IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. ” Link
“First, thanks for viewing my auction. Up for auction is a Roland CMU-800R Analog Synth / Drum machine. Very rare to find one of these in this condition, complete with the Apple IIe software and interface card. It has a Bass Channel (mono), Lead Channel (mono), Chord Channel (4 note poly), and Drum Channel (TR-606 drum sounds). It also has 8 Channels of CV(0 5.25v, 1v/octave) out and 8 channels of Gate out (0-12v), which would compliment the CMU-810 sister synthesizer or other analogs using CV-Gate. This particular unit was found in the basement of a music school with another flawless unit, some confused person had marked on the box sound mixer.” Link
“Roland Compu Music CMU-800 up for auction. This is in good working condition and almost looks like new. I don’t know much about these so if you’re not familiar with it, google it for some more info. From what I understand these are almost impossible to find with interface and software. It comes with manual, interface and software for the C-64. This the only one I have ever seen with C-64 interface and software from all the searching I’ve done on the net. Good luck bidding.” Link
“Up for auction is the extremely rare Roland CMU-800 Compu Music with Commodore 64 software, interface and manual as well as the even more desireable Roland Compu Synth CMU-810 with manual. There is even some extra paperwork from a computer magazine and some songs saved on disk. This package is in almost new condition. I’ve seen a couple of these sell on here but never with the commodore 64 interface and software. This would be a great addition to your collection. The auction is for everything you see here. I would like to sell them in a set.” Link

“OU ARE BIDDING ON A ROLAND COMPU-MUSIC, MODEL # CMU-800. THIS IS A UNIQUE ITEM. THEY DO NOT MAKE THESE ANYMORE. The CMU-800 is a little four-channel mixer with internal preset voices and sequencer software for an Apple II or PC. There is a ribbon cable out the back with a card attached. It features analog synthesis with fixed sounds. Four note polyphony in the chord section, monophonic bass and melody synth sections, and an analog drum section.” Link
“Innovative computer music module from Roland. Works great; comes with attached AC cord and multi-pin cable to connect to Apple II computer. Does not come with Apple II computer, connecting card inside of computer, or software, but all are readily available on the www. No dents or dings, possibly a view light scratches but nothing detectable. We used this with an early-generation Apple computer and then I intended to convert it to MIDI operation – there are schematics about how to do this on the www – but now I have run out of time and initiative, so it’s a fun project that will have to go into the incomplete column, perhaps you can take it on!” Link
“This 1983 manufactured ROLAND is an analog 6-voice sound-expander, poly/bass/solo-synth + TR606 drums + 8 x CV/GATE interface. With this 8 CV/GATE outputs you can control 8 external analog synthesizers on 8 different channels! The CMU-800 comes with operation manual, sequencer-software and interface for Apple II computer. Unused and original packed! The power cord needs 220V or a 110V power converter adapter.” Link

“Reasonably rare Roland CompuMusic CMU-800R. I got this about a decade ago with the intention of finding an Apple computer to hook it up to and get it working. For a variety of reasons (time, procrastination) I never implemented this project so now it is time for somebody else to attempt to do so. It comes with the connecting cable. You will need the appropriate early-generation Apple computer with the appropriate card, together with software. Another prospect is to get rid of the computer interface and convert it to MIDI. I have seen plans and schematics on the Internet about how to do this, which would require an intermediate degree of electronic knowledge. As with the other approach I simply have not had enough initiative to do this. I have heard these machines once they get set up and they sound great. The cosmetics on this unit are excellent with the exception of one minor scratch as depicted on the bottom about 2/3 of the way across.” Link
