“For auction is one Casio CZ-101. This thing is in great condition. The battery compartment looks good and when disassembled the board was nice and clean. I did not see any blown capacitors, leaks, or broken traces but the unit powers up with some lights remaining on (as seen in one of the photos) and the screen is blank. Not sure if it is an easy fix or not but the repair seems to be beyond my expertise level (or at least exceeds my free time). Anyways, I am selling this to make room for more projects or synthesizers… and a baby (I hope that last bit encourages some bids!)

Personally I love this instrument. While the CZ-1 is awesome, I found it much faster to produce sounds with this little guy and the sounds are just as great. While very similar, I have found some of the sounds I have created with the CZ-101 to be unique and could not replicate them with the CZ-1. I found my patches to be superior. This can be said for other Casio synths, like the HT/HZ series, which makes it much harder to buy just one. The CZ-101 is great for a pinch, the straps are nice, and if space is limited it makes for a nice MIDI controller (or for a source instrument. Just plug it in and tuck it away and use your favorite controller.)

No power supply is supplied. The lights in the picture are by 6 D batteries (not included).” Link

“Hello all! I am selling my Casio CZ-1. For a brief period of time in the 80’s Casio made some truly amazing professional synthesizers. This is one of them. Casio’s proprietary phase distortion synthesis is very similar to FM synthesis. This board was designed to compete with Yamaha’s DX7. It is an amazing synth and can create some truly amazing sounds. This one is in good cosmetic condition considering its age with a few minor blemishes. The chorus fader is missing it’s cap and is a little scratchy when used but it does work. Also one of the patch bank buttons doesn’t work. I’ve never attempted to fix either of those issues but im sure they could be easily fixed. Other than that its in good working order and sounds great! Shipping is a little expensive because this is a big heavy board! ” Link

“Up for your consideration is a casio CZ-1 Synthesizer. This synthesizer turns on and when a button is pushed, that button lights up.

I plugged in some headphones in the headphones jack and was able to get sound when pressing specific buttons.

I am selling this as-is untested because I do not have the ability to test this item fully.” Link

“Selling a CASIO CZ-101 Synthesizer Keyboard. Keyboard has been tested and working. Looks to be in good condition, HOWEVER, this keyboard once belonged to a school and they engraved a few words around the keyboard, SO IT’S VERY IMPORTANT TO LOOK AT ALL IMAGES CAREFULLY TO SELL WHERE THE WORDS ARE. Also the foam for the battery cover is pretty much done and may need to be replaced, covered, or removed. What you see is what you’ll get.”

“Up for sale is my LCD modified and overhauled/refurb’d Casio CZ-101

LCD was changed out for a new blue backlit display. This makes the synth much easier to see in either full light or in dark studios!
I cannot stress how important it is to have this type of display. The original display is such a pain to see and causes much frustration when trying to go in and program those cool and wild sounds this synth is capable of.

Also…
Synth was completely disassembled, all buttons and contacts carefully cleaned and restored to full functionality.
THE DC ADAPTER POWER JACK was changed from the hard to find Casio jack to the more common larger jack so it will be easier to locate a replacement AC Adapter if one is needed.

All buttons work. All the keys work. All features including MIDI works.
Synth has been cleaned up and ready for hours of enjoyment!

Please note the case is not in perfect condition.
There are a few scratches on the face and the back has many scratches.
After 34 years, you’ll have a few scratches and dings on you too!

Additionally the “Keytar” pegs have been removed (who uses those things??) and the right side mounting hole has a partial breakage in the hole.. just cosmetic and you’d never see it if you are simply playing it 😉
Trust me, you don’t want those pegs! Try storing the little synth on its end and you quickly realize they are a PITA and can cause damage to the synth either at the mount holes(like it already did..) or letting it tip over and whack into the floor!” Link

“Casio CZ-1000
Phase-Distortion Synthesizer

Works great!

Recently serviced — a DAC adjustment was performed to make the CZ sound as clean & noise-free as possible, and it now now sounds better than ever! I slightly regret selling it. I’ve owned it for 15 years or so, and never played with the “Tone Mix” (the CZ is duo-phonic in Solo mode), and it’s pretty cool.

There is a moderate amount of wear & tear — a bit of peeling around the front panel sticker, some scratches, and some slight discoloration/stains. Most notably, the #3 membrane button on the front panel has worn through and has a small hole in it — but it works fine. All the buttons work OK, perhaps a few a bit sticky, but they all work. The LCD works fine with no missing lines.

Overall this CZ is slightly beat-up, it’s a cheaply-made plastic synth that’s taken some abuse. But it works well, and it’s surprisingly powerful and cool sounding, with a very plastic-y & punchy sound! And although it only holds 16 user patches, you can save/load patches over MIDI (tip — to save a patch, you must send the CZ a send request via sysex).

Includes the original manual for the CZ-101 (essentially the same as the CZ-1000), as well as the original Casio CZ Sound Book with lots of patches to dial in. Also includes an AC adaptor power supply, which isn’t the original — it’s an equivalent adaptor with a connector spliced on so that it fits the CZ, but it works.” Link

” Selling a Casio SK1 sampling keyboard.Keyboard has a few marks as you would expect for its age but the battery cover is present and it all works as it should including buttons and keys. No crackly sliders and speakers work a treat.

This keyboard not only is a gritty sampler but allows simple synthesis along with onboard sounds and rhythms. You can process samples using effects as well as putting an ADSR envelop over it. It really is an underrated keyboard that with outboard effects can produce really good dirty sounds.” Link

I tested this using batteries since I do not have the power cord. The unit powered on and played through headphones just as it should. The display is clear and works perfectly. I tried all the buttons and they seem to all work as they should.

Cosmetically, it does have a few scratches and imperfections consistent with it’s age (see close-up pictures).

I found a manual online and printed it out for you and it will come with it.” Link
