“This is the original Boss Doctor Rhythm DR55 programmable analogue drum machine as used by electro pioneers from Thomas Dolby to Vince Clarke and Depeche Mode.Its a classic and is now even more appreciated than when it first was released.
This unit is in good condition , and fully working with box.It also comes with some instructions on how to mod it for separate outputs and a crisper snare sound.it hasn’t been modified , but the info is there to do it.
It has 2 trigger outputs for driving analogue sequencers , synths and other drum machines such as the Monotribe , one programmable and one fixed .The beauty of a real analogue machine is that the noise creating the sounds is genuinely random , so each snare or hi hat sound is subtly different , a sample does not give the same effect.
This machine has helped me create some many songs over the years ,and is a great simple compositional tool .” Link

Missing the back battery panel and has new little rubber feet as it lost one of the originals.

“Hi fellow musicians! I was going thru my music closet and I found this vintage Dr-55 drum machine. I bought this in 1980 to used in a duet with a piano player. We played two wedding gigs and I moved to take a “real job.” Well, I do have some sentimental attachment but I don’t collect vintage effects. So, this is your chance to get what was the first drum machine that started the BOSS line up. I will print some reviews here so you know what it does. The only others I’ve seen are for some reason in England. You can buy this one locally from the original owner with the box and manuals. This old school analog and way cool.” Link

it WORKS! It could use a new battery compartment which would simply plug in, replacing the old one.
