“This is an extremely Rare Casio AZ-1 Synthesizer. Weapon of choice for big cats such as Thomas Dolby and Chick Corea. The great ones must have seen something in this early axe. Unfortunately, I do not have the proper power source and this item is being sold As Is/Untested. The rear battery holder is not functional. The octive control is missing it’s finger pad. I have no case or paperwork. Otherwise overall condition is very good. The keys have nice action and all of the switches move smoothly, but again, I can not vouch for it’s functionality. 24 white keys and 17 black, No cracks in the plastic, Nice Pearlized white color. Strap pegs in place.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

” Now here is something unique and Casio-rific!The is a Vintage Casio AZ1 midi strap on controller shaped like a guitar. It has many features like sustain, portamento, banks, definables(custom settings) and more.It has 41 velocity and aftertouch sensing keys. This unit runs on AA batteries or a negative tipped 9VDC wall wart adaptor with the smaller center pin than most wall warts have now a days!So be aware of this when you try that after market adapter! This unit has RED LED character based display for its functions and comes with strap, hard Casio brand carry case and one midi cable for it’s one midi port(duh!).It is used and shows it in every part. But it is intact and event has the battery cover! How nice heh?I have priced this to a fair but not too low price as I already know this is too hard to find second hand even at high prices!Again, not something I can use right away and indeed I have too many keyboards in my home that is being remodeled.I am selling this AS IS with no return but guaranteed NON-DOA!Please note that this unit does NOT come with power supply and does not come with manual or batteries(really?Dry cells in 2010?)” Auction ended. “CASIO AZ1 – Performance guitar keyboard midi controller

This little gem is a very reluctant sale. I bought this years ago when playing in bands, and was popular for keyboard players to not be tied to their instrument.
Basically, it is a midi controller, with touch control, and full access midi voice controls…ie…you can select from 16ch midi voices, pitch bend, vibrato, sustain etc etc, all as if you were playing a traditional keyboard, only this one allows you to run around too. It has two assignable midi channel buttons, to quickly recall that channel, and/or a combination of the two channels.

The keyboard comes in a timber roadcase, utilizing the original styrofoam as packing material for proper shape, an operators manual, and a midi lead which has been custom made to also carry the 9v DC from the provided power supply.
Keyboard will also function with 6xAA batteries.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

casiopaz1
The Casio AZ-1 is a polyphonic MIDI keyboard in the form factor of a keytar.
The AZ-1 features 2 switches, 2 wheels, and 1 slider that can be assigned different MIDI functions as the user deems fit. It has a pitch wheel for shifting the sound up fractions of a note. Furthermore, its feature set includes both velocity sensitivity as well as true aftertouch. This is something of a rarity amongst keytars, and all but the highest end keyboards, as many only have velocity sensitivity.

The pitch band is an old construction, it can shift the note just up. It is alternated, therefore the coil spring is disabled. There is a small, hardly recognizable crack at the edge of the bottom.A couple of screws are missing from the back of the unit.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

az1uk_1“The Casio AZ-1 is a polyphonic MIDI keyboard in the form factor of a keytar. It has a distinctive white body with a long neck,
with detailing in a pale blue. This instrument is designed to be played, with the aid of a shoulder strap, in an approximation
of an electric guitar. As were many keytars, it was geared towards keyboardists who wanted greater freedom of movement during performances.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay. az1uk_2az1uk_3

az-1 “Casio AZ-1 remote midi controller keyboard in working order. Collectors item, but you can still play it!!

Dating back to approx 1986, this is a landmark controller and still very highly sought after. Unusually as well as velocity sensitivity, it’s one of the few that has aftertouch as well. It also has nice full size keys instead of the kiddy sized ones you sometimes get. Here is some further information:

The AZ-1 is a 41-note velocity and aftertouch sensitive performance remote keyboard MIDI controller. 2 wheels, 2 switches and 1 slider are user assignable to different MIDI functions. A row of buttons is used to access 128 program change commands. 2 switchable MIDI channels allow you to switch between two synths or performances on the fly. There are also dedicated sustain and portamento controller buttons. As far as I can tell, all functions seem to work ok. I haven’t tried running it from batteries, but via a standard 9V mains adaptor (centre negative) it runs fine. However, please bear in mind that this has been gigged so has the usual knocks and scratches (mainly on the back and nothing significant to put off your adoring public), it’s also 23 years old so don’t expect a brand new one!” Auction ended. cz-1 keytar “Up for sale is a nice clean CASIO AZ-1 / AZ1 keytar “over-the-shoulder” electronic midi keyboard. Tested to the best of my ability; seems to work fine. Few minor signs of wear for its age (late 1980s?). Worst is a small scratch is on logo (see pic). Comes with a great black “vinyl-leather” case. There’s plenty of additional info on the Internet about this keytar.

I understand these are becoming rare finds.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.
