This example is in perfect working order having just been professionally serviced by synth tech’ James Walker. As well as replacing the sockets, key bushes and trimmers, James has also cleaned and calibrated the Axxe and tested it for electrical safety so you can rest assured that everything works faultlessly and smoothly.

Cosmetically it is in good condition apart from a few battle scars. The most noticeable are as follows: There is some paint missing on the rear panel (easily touched up). The left hand leather end cheek is discoloured and has coffee cup rings on it. The rightmost key has been replaced with a brand new one which is whiter than the originals. There are marks and scratches here and there but nothing out of keeping with its vintage (see pics).

Overall a great way to get real analogue sounds into your music and a great investment as these are very likely to appreciate in value over time.

Please note: The Axxe is curently located in Stoke-On-Trent where it has just been serviced and will be despatched from there.” Link

Own a piece of keyboard history! For your consideration, a beautiful 1970′s vintage Arp Axxe Model 2312 Analog Synthesizer in perfect working condition. All keys are fully functional and have an even touch across the keyboard. All sliders and controls work fine and this little baby can produce sounds and effects that you won’t believe. For those who have never heard an Arp Axxe before, be sure to check out the many YouTube videos featuring this model. A fantastic edition to any serious keyboard player’s arsenal.

This is one of the very early models as it has the pre-lawsuit Moog type ladder filter and pitch knob instead of later models that had PPC for pitch bending.

As you can imagine for an instrument this old, some of the keys are yellowed from age and the wooden sides have some minor scuffing. Otherwise, this synth is in excellent condition, plays great and sounds amazing.” Link

This ARP Axxe in excellent condition, however requires service to repair Square tooth Waveshaper, the Triangle wave works fine so it’s otherwise fully functional.

I’ve been quoted that the cost for this routine repair and a service would be £120.

I don’t have the time or money to deal with it at the moment, hence the low sale price.

Contact me to arrange a visit and you can check it out for yourself.

No MIDI. This classic machine is way too old for that, however you can sync using CV/Gate and Trigger In/Out.

VERY Analogue. The sounds are very useable, especially for Retro / Electronica. Quite simply the most expressive and emotive synth I’ve ever used.

This 35 year old machine is in excellent condition and is a real bargain at this price and incredibly simple to use – but if you are looking at it you probably know that.” Link

The Axxe has been checked over and is working fine a fresh set of colour tic tac type caps have replaced the old ones , they were a different type and were mostly split with age. Please note the Axxe is for collection only where i took, Synthrestore in Bedford.Full contact details will be given if sold, i prefer cash on collection , but bank transfer and paypal are there also, you can collect when the funds clear if not paying cash, any questions please ask. I believe Phil Oakey of the Human League still uses one, can see why.” Link

It has the awesome ARP sound and can produce a real variety of great sounding leads, basses and FX. It was owned by the bassist out of Roxy Music, Rik Kenton in the 70′s. The top C key is missing – it would be nice for someone to replace it as I have to use a pin to ensure the note isn’t pressed down. The flat and sharp pitch pads don’t work, but you can still use the vibrato pad or the ‘tune’ knob to bend the pitch. Everything else works fine- some sliders are slightly stiff as you would get with a 70′s synth. There is one scratch on the front going through one orange label but most of the labels are as new. The bottom C key sticks up a little also. Pickup in London is possible also.” Link

This is consiered the brother to the infamous Arp Odyssey! I have kept this in lovely condition all throughout its life (like all my equipment). It has recently been serviced….you won’t find another in better condition than this, only a few light marks on its side! By the way…This is the better sounding and most sought-after version with the Moog copyright infringement filter in it

Here we have the rare and highly popular original ARP AXXE MK I. It is in really nice condition indeed with a very few very minor marks but nothing to write home about. It works perfectly and sounds pure and truly analog and very sweet. This example has ARP’s original PPC upgrade where the pitch bend used to be. This is a proportional pressure control and kind of does similar things to pitch and vibrato but by using pressure. Quite quirky and very ahead of its time when it was built. This ARP was built in the early 1970s and accordingly is well built. The fascia is magnificent and beautiful. The proper wood ends are also in extremely good condition indeed.” Link

“For auction is an example of the ARP AXXE monophonic analogue synth, a member of the classic ARP family of analogue synths including the Odyssey and 2600.

This is the revised version (Orange / Black livery) of the synthesizer produced from 1978-1981.

Most of the sliders have become stiff (some very stiff) in the instruments 30 year life and some also make a distorted crackling noise when moved.

I would therefore recommend the instrument be serviced by a qualified technican to clean and lubricate the sliders and to re-calibrate any electrical components if needed.

All keys of the keyboard register and the PPC controls for pitch bend appear to work. The switches for Keyboard Transposition and Keyboard Repeat also appear to work.

The PPC control for modulation and the S&H switch appear tempremental and will need attention.

All slider caps bar one (VCO square wave in the Audio Mixer section) are present.

Apart from the above issues the overall condition of the AXXE’s body is very good considering it’s 30 year age.

The tolex coating is good with a few marks while both leather end cheeks are present and in good condition.

The photo of the right hand end cheek shows a slight distortion in the metal, possibly from being moved or stood on that end at some point in it’s history.

The instrument is complete with it’s original manual and comes with a power cord (240v).

The power cord connector (3 pin kettle type) has a small piece missing from it’s lower edge. This does not affect the connection itself in any way.

Due to the instruments delicate nature I’m reluctant to put it in the post and can therefore only offer the unit to be picked up directly.

I am however prepared to meet up along the M4 corridor (Sarn Park services to the West, Magor Services to the East) to save you some miles.

If you live in or close to the South Wales area and would like to take a look at the instrument before placing a bid, I would be more than happy to show it to you at a convenient time.” Link

All photos are of the actual item. It appears all of the multi-colored slider tips are original. It is missing two slider tips. Both of the sliders can be moved with by sticking a pen in there. Other than that everything else is in good shape. 70% of the sliders are easy to move and the other 30% are more difficult to move. I took an up close picture of the sliders that need to be moved with a pen and they are the s/h slider and the adsr slider. ” Link

Cosmetics are VG+ as depicted with light scratching top bottom front back sides. Model # 2310, serial # 618. From the serial number I believe this has the Moog filter, due to legal issues the Moog filter was replaced with Model # 2311. The sliders on this instrument are sticky and will require cleaning. Because of this there is a possibility some of them are not sending the correct voltages to some of the synth functions. In some cases the voltages may be exponential rather than linear, or it may be difficult to dial in an “exact” voltage because of conductance gaps. I noticed this with the filter, which opens faster than might be expected when the slider is about in the middle; this tends to produce a brighter sound. I also noticed this with the interaction between the envelope attack and release sliders, the release seems slow but when you lower it you then lose some of the snappy attack on the envelope. Because of ambiguous position of the filter slider, the best sounds this synth presently makes are the brighter type sounds or leads, as opposed to really low-end sounds for bass. Like I said I believe this will go away once the sliders are thoroughly cleaned to eliminate any “dead spots.” All of the other controls appear to work fine. I may be “over-disclosing” this issue but I want the potential buyer to be thoroughly apprised. As with all analog synthesizers it’s impossible to “replicate” exact voltages one might see on YouTube or with other synthesizers of the same model, you’ll never get the same sound twice, it’s not like a synth with preset voices where one would expect them to be more-or-less the same from case-to-case. The synth doesn’t have a “memory” to store presets, so every time you work with it you will get different sounds, even though the sliders appear to be in relatively the same position. What the sliders do is adjust the parameters of the analog components (VCO, filter, envelope, LFO, etc.), not create presets. Because of this issue with the sliders we regretfully are selling this fine instrument “as is.”” Link

A crack in one key was repaired. It feel and looks fine. The outer casing to the power inlet is cracked, works normal though. One of the leather side panels is pretty filthy where the previous owner had set it on the floor. One bolt on the back panel is stripped and has been cut, so that the synth can be opened for service (everything is original and untampered on the inside). Otherwise everything looks great, the sliders are smooth and it sounds really cool. An expansive sonic pallet for a little monosynth. ” Link

This example is in perfect working order having just been fully professionally serviced by synth ace James Walker, so it’s ready to perform faultlessly and provide the hard-hitting funky sounds the Axxe is renowned for.

James has replaced all the electrolytic capacitors that tend to degrade over time. The IEC mains inlet socket and all 1/4 inch and 3.5mm sockets have been replaced with new ones. All the keyboard bushes are new. The VCF has had the frequency range increased. The power supply has new regulators, caps and diodes. All the trimmers are new CTS trimmers and all the sliders have been stripped, cleaned and re-lubricated so no noisy sliders. The Axxe has also been tested for electrical safety.

Cosmetically, this example is in excellent condition with just a few small marks befitting of its vintage. The most noticeable of which is some discoloration of the leather end cheeks. ” Link

The outer casing is solid wood and is in good condition.
There is just one small rubber foot missing off one corner, this is’nt really noticable and I mention it for completeness, you can get these from any hardware store quite easily for pennies.” Link

It has not been used for the last 10 years. Having connected the synth up it is apparent that it needs a major service. It produces sounds, the VCO’s are working as is the white noise. My recollections from many years ago is that it produced more sounds. One key is slightly raised and doesn’t produce a sound (I suspect it is not making contact). The outer casing is in good condition for a synth that is 33 years old. Would prefer pick up as the old girl doesn’t travel well and am happy to accept cash on collection.” Link

When my son was young, he lifted about half of the white keys, enough to damage them. The leather on the sides are in great condition, no lifting or curling. Their is no manual included. I had it professionally cleaned once. This synthesizer is monophonic. As seen in the pictures, there are four knob heads missing on the right side.

It comes with its original grounded heavy duty a/c line cord. Everything is very clean and working. All slider controls have their small plastic knobs except for one. I do not play in a band, nor do I perform with a synthesizer, I was in a small group back in the ’60s as a drummer, recently a friend of mine asked me if I would help him sell this vintage ARP Synth. I tried it out using my fender guitar amp, it has a whole array of different tones, and sound effects, and wild, eerie, spaced out, electronic sounds as well. I tried all the different slide controls, switches, etc, all work great, only 2 were just a little noisy and could use a cleaning, as I was trying everything out, it became evident to me that heck, this is the same synth Edgar Winter’s White Trash must have used, it sounded identical . It is in nice condition especially for not having a case. All the keys function smoothly and bounce right back after pressing them, none are sticky or slow, etc, all have the same response time. The keys are also very straight, none are higher or lower, they are all the same level. on the back are inputs and outputs, one is for pedal, two are for low or high outputs, theres another for Ext. audio out.and there are other outputs and inputs as well. Glad I could make this vintage Arp available in such nice original working condition, however, DO TO AGE AND MY LACK OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT SYNTHESIZERS IT IS BEING SOLD AS IS.” Link

“ARP Axxe monophonic analog / analogue synth in original box complete with “expression pedal” – also boxed.

This was bought for my 18th birthday from the London Synthesiser Centre and I’ve kept it in its original shipping box ever since.

Used at home and a number of jam sessions with friends but never seriously gigged, hence the reasonably unblemished condition.

Also included is the expression pedal which gives foot control over the filter which can be used rather like a wah pedal. Thus, combined with the rubber bending and modulation pads a whole host of bendy, wobbly and wowey expression can be achieved – like “Mini Moog” heaven!!

Having been in storage for many years, I’ve been checking it out for sale:

Most of the slider pots were crackly but most have cleaned up nicely with a squirt of switch cleaner – a few need another go as they are still a little scratchy.

The rubber touch pads for up and down bend and vibrato are a little yellowed with age, but work as intended.

The square wave oscillator outputs at a much lower volume than the sawtooth and noise waveforms. This may or may not be a cleaning issue, but needs attention before you play it seriously.

A number of the slider knobs split in the early days and are missing.

Other than that, all the original functions still appear to work and with some further TLC this could be a prize example.” Link

Not perfect condition – but not to shabby either . Id give it a 6.5- 7 out of 10 in the condition department. All keys work might need rebushing they click more than keys do today.” eBay Link

Serial number is 2310-609. This is the model with the copied Moog filter which was shortly after changed to the less desirable and less fat sounding filter. It is a monophonic, 1 oscillator synth that can produce some incredible low end leads and effects.

All of the sliders work and only 2 of them are a bit stiff; the Pulse width and the VCF Resonance sliders. Both work just fine. The ADSR filter slider, which is probably the most important slider for movement and shaping of the sound, works amazingly and is very smooth. As the photos show, the synth is in beautiful cosmetic shape with no damage. It basically looks brand new! I have used this synth for the past five years in my studio and it has produced amazing results for me. ” Link

Serial + ARP Revision # 23231754

I bought this recently but afterwards got a hold of an ARP Odyssey, that’s the only reason why I am selling it. This synth is in GREAT condition considering how old it is. I own several vintage synths and this one is by far in the best shape of all of them (click on the pictures, the image quality is much better when you do that). It’s been recently cleaned up but all original electronics were kept intact. All keys are leveled ( pretty rare). All Sliders work just fine. New bushings were installed so the keyboard feels great. There’s minor scuffs here and there and the sides are good but not perfect. Check out the pictures… it’s in great shape overall. Item is sold as is.” Link

ARP AXXE Modell 2311 (Seriennummer 0614) aus Erstbesitz
Made 1978 in USA by The Alan Robert Pearlman Instruments Inc.
