“I restore analog synths as a hobby, and this AXXE is ready to go.
Here is some of the work that was performed:
Faulty chips replaced
Buss wire and j wires hand polished.
Keybed totally dis-assembled cleaned and new bushings installed
Unit was calibrated burned in and re-calibrated (pro work bench, oscilloscope, frequency counter etc.)
Keys compounded and polished
Sliders and switches cleaned and lubed
Custom set of slider caps of my own manufacture color correct
Circuit board cleaned with electronics board wash
The case has some very light scratches and rubs.
The transpose switch was chipped near the top so it has been “cut down” still works fine—SEE 2nd PIC
Has gate, trigger and cv in outs on back, wire it up to your volt per octave axxe, odyssey, moog, dotcom etc” Link
“The synth (as you can see from the pictures) is in good condition, but needs SIX OF THE KEYS REPLACING.
However, the synth itself is working, and you can still play it as an instrument.
All of the sliders operate, one or two are a bit noisy, but can be cleaned.
The slider caps are all new (good quality repro’s) and cost about £60.
* The sample/hold switch has been hardwired for normal keyboard operation (the switch contacts don’t seem to work).
Please understand, this item WILL NEED SOME SERVICING, so is sold as a restoration and is not returnable.” Link
“This auction is for an ARP Axxe Analogue Synthesizer which has been fitted to a custom walnut wood case.
Ever think the MK III Axxe, Odyssey, Quadra and others just ‘look strange’?
# Keyboard – Keys have been polished and new bushings have been installed
# Power supply was replaced with a new recently manufactured one
# Sliders have been cleaned, however they are still a little scratch though move smoothly
# Synth is tuned and scaled
# Custom walnut case fitted
# All routings function and synth sounds great” Link
“Vintage Arp Axxe Analog Monophonic Synthesizer. This instrument is fully functional and in very good cosmetic condition. Only issues of note are the colored slider tabs have all been lost/removed (cosmetic only) and 2 of the sliders could possibly use cleaning/lubricating as they have a slight bit of static-type noise in a limited area of the slider range when moving in real-time. Overall this is a great sounding/looking synth from one of the poineer companies of early synthesizer technology.” Link
“This glorious vintage analog Arp Axxe is the real deal when it comes to analogness. It is truly analog and we are talking seriously as it can possibly totally get analog. You just can’t get more analog than this thing. With voltage controlled oscillators, voltage controlled filters and voltage controlled amplifier with adsr control there is nothing digital about this beast.
The sounds this thing generates are beautiful. This is nothing like the moog it must be said and doesn’t quite have the richness or warmth of the moog but it is a different synthesiser altogether and the oscillators can be detuned to create delightful sound mixes but this is a much crisper and punchier synth than the Moog. It kind of cuts through mixes superbly.
The condition of this one is really good. It has recently had some brand new sliders fitted and these sliders are new from a collector who bought up loads of sliders just before arp stopped making these babies so some of the sliders are just beautiful. All the sliders work really well and this thing most certainly does not need a service.
The cosmetics of this example are really really good, I would call it excellent though one has to be so careful on ebay now because we sellers get crushed for nearly anything we say so I’m not taking responsibility if you don’t think this is excellent. I’m warning you that this is a vintage synth but in my humble view it is excellent. The wood ends are really really good with only very mild ware.” Link
“You are bidding on a fully functional first version of the Arp Axxe synthesizer. The ARP Axxe is a monophonic analog synthesizer created by ARP in 1975. As a scaled-down version of the Odyssey, the Axxe was simplified to the point of becoming, arguably, the most standard analog synthesizer. It has a single VCO (producing two different waveforms) that is passed through a basic low-pass filter and VCA. Modulation can be applied to nearly every section of the synthesizer. This early version has a pitch bend knob like those found on Mark I ARP Odysseys, and features a copyright infringing version of a Moog filter that was later discontinued, though no actual lawsuit ever took place. It has the “black and gold” color scheme.” Link

“Great shape! Cosmetically very, very clean. Lettering is still nice and bright with very few scratches on the decals. The Arp works great sans a few scratchy sliders (very common for this type of (synth) but otherwise in excellent condition.” Link
“This is the first article. I’ve reproduced the front panel for the ARP Axxe. (It’s very strong material but is thin enough to not interfere with the original slider boots! The great thing is that you can change it if it ever gets damaged though!!) As some of you may have experienced, case foam absolutely destroys these units’ appearance. You can see what the old front panel looked like by viewing the back. But now we have a laser cut quality overlay. If anything ever damages it, rest assured we can create another one for you. In fact you can swap panels if you like for a custom look! I’ve held it on with goop adhesive which can be removed with care without damaging anything with proper tool.
I’m very pleased with the product to say the least. It’s absolutely perfect. Laser cutters are quite the tool. The graphic work cost quite a bit but hopefully we’ll be able to help a lot of people who have unreadable front panels. I have a second one in my studio. Same situation. The newer orange ones don’t seem to get damaged. But I’ve seen several like this one.
Anyway I cleaned up everything. Replaced the bushings so this is electronically and mechanically pretty excellent. The rear panel had some exposure to moisture which rusted the screws and nuts but didn’t seem to get any further . I cleaned up the jacks so they’re functional. If someone wanted to put solvent and a little wire brush on the screws they’d probably clean up. But I’m figuring many people will park it in a studio where all you’ll see is the front panel anyway so that’s as far as I took it. Anyway..be the first on your block…or..in the WORLD to have a gorgeous looking panel like this on an axxe!! The anvil case is in pretty nice shape outside. I used the hi tech foam to create a fabulously functional interior. Note how it holds the machine against the foam that is underneath. I’ll pad around the box for shipping.” Link
“eautiful Very very good condition Arp AXXE . I restore vintage synths as a hobby, and this Axxe is ready to go to a new home.
Here is a list of things that I did to bring this synth back to the music world:
New key bushings
Keys leveled
buss wire and j wires all hand polished
Key tops polished.
Noisy chips replaced in sockets
Sliders cleaned and lubed
Custom made slider caps all colors correct
Fully calibrated burned in and re-calibrated on a pro electronics bench
Circuit board cleaned with board-wash, all traces inspected at every solder point
Leather end cheeks conditioned
Top panel polished.” Link
“The synth is in excellent working condition. A few of the sliders are a bit stiff from not being used but they function fine. All keys, sliders, inputs/outputs, and synthesizer features function 100% as they should. All routing of envelopes and LFO, etc etc, it all works. I have lots of experience with synthesizers and their advanced functions so I can say this with confidence. There is functionally nothing wrong with this Axxe.
Cosmetically it’s in nice shape as you can see in the pictures. The wood is in good shape and clean. The keys are even and like I said, only a few of the sliders are a bit sticky and have some slight resistance, but a little spray of electrical grease would fix that. The little faceplate that says “ARP AXXE” needs to be reglued above the keys. Other than that it’s your usual nicely kept shape, not bad for a 30+ year old instrument.
The Axxe like many 70’s synths is getting rare, and the black/gold version is the rarest of all. Most of all it sounds great and it’s easy and inspiring to use.” Link
“We don’t get to see too many vintage synths these days but this is in great condition! Fully tested, we confidently provide a 3 month parts & labour warranty on this great investment. Shipping to mainland UK will be via DHL using their ‘Next Day’ delivery service…
The ARP Axxe was a monophonic analog synthesizer created by ARP in 1975 as a cheaper, scaled-down version of the legendary Odyssey. It has a single VCO producing two different waveforms that is passed through a basic low-pass filter and VCA. Modulation can be applied to almost every section of the synthesizer. Noteworthy was the addition of sample-and-hold and the ability to pass external audio through the filter (in the tradition of the Minimoog). ” Link

“Vintage ARP Axxe Model Mark II analog synthesizer in truly EXCELLENT condition. It looks almost new and sounds absolutely incredible. You would be hard-pressed to find one in better shape. All vintage ARP synthesizers are getting harder to find these days… This one was recently checked out by my tech. All faders and key contacts were cleaned and the electrolytic caps were changed. No surprises here!” Link

“Hi: Up for sale here is a really cool synth that is in mostly working order but has a couple issues. This is the most sought after version of the Axxe, the one that has filters that are essentially the same as Moog filters, and brought on a copyright lawsuit by Moog as a result. This synth sounds really crazy, really fat, and really good. It is especially good at making bizarre and wonderful noises, so if that’s your thing this could really satisfy. As far as condition is concerned, the biggest issue is that the noise fader does not do anything. So no white or pink noise comes out (as it should) when you push this fader up. All the other functions on the thing seem to work. I am a guitar player, not a synth guy, so I can’t say for sure that all the functions are working exactly as they should. But it powers up fine, produces plenty of volume, and very complex tones. Every fader except the noise fader works in that it has a clear impact on the sound. All the keys also work just fine. No dead keys or broken keys or that kind of thing. Two of the fader arms are snapped off (you can see in the pics) and a few others do not have caps. Also the sticker that said Axxe came off at some point. Lastly, my guitar amp tech, who also dabbles in synths, cleaned the contacts for me and also switched the wiring on the low and high output jacks. He thought this improved the noise/signal ratio when using the 1/4 inch input. So I guess this synth is a great candidate for a little fixing up or for someone who just wants some amazing vintage synth sounds for a bunch less money than a fully reconditioned Axxe would cost. Look at the pictures closely, and please ask any questions you have. This synth is being sold as is.” Link
“ARP AXXE
VINTAGE ANALOG SYNTHESIZER
BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENT
REALLY AMAZING SOUND,very EleCtRo , Retro .Fantastic for Dance and Pop songs.

One small blue rubber top missing ( from top of one slider ) – easy to replace if you wish.
Everything else – cool , working great ! ” Link
“This auction is for a Vintage ARP AXXE Analog Synthesizer. The unit powers up perfect and all of the keys sound. It is making some very cool synth sounds. The problem is that the output on the Noise slider is very low, or may not even be triggering any output. Both VCO sliders, envelope, noise, LFO, and other functions seem to work well. I don’t know all of the routing for the signals so I cannot be 100% about it. This is sold as a working Project and is in need of some service. It is probably something small, but keep that in mind when bidding. There are a few slider caps missing, but all of the sliders are there.” Link
“This is a rare & working ARP AXXE 1973 analogue synthesiser, famously used by Herbie Hancock on ‘Thrust’ and other 70s albums
valuable collector’s item
needs servicing but ALL CIRCUITS WORKING . ONE rubber slider end missing (on the portamento control – 1st slider on the left) but easy to replace.
Includes spare key (see picture) in case of repair” Link
“Arp Axxe Synthesiser (not working).

“ARP AXXE analog Mono Synthesizer.
This one looks great but has a problem.
I can only seem to get clicking sounds out of it.
I am not an expert, selling for a friend to moved West.
(see my other auctions for a working Juno 106 and a JX-3P)
All of his stuff was very well taken care of.
This one looks fantastic for it’s age.
It is missing a few knobs, but most I have seen for sale don’t have the knobs.
if you know how to work on these you will be getting a cherry looking device at a bargain price.” Link
“ARP AXXE Monophonic Analog Synthesizer
Your looking at a later edition ARP Axxe sythesizer. It’s an amazing synth capable of some excellent analog sounds from the 70’s. Well reknown as the Odyssey’s Monophonic sibling.
The synth is in great condition for its age. I’ll try to be as detailed as possible so that there are no surprises and also my camera doesn’t take the best photos: Cosmetically, there are only a few minor scuffs (most notable being on the Audio Mixer section and also the sides, both visible in the pictures), there are a few bolts missing on back (see picture) but nothing is loose because of it (they are easy to replace too), and last some of the caps are missing, which doesn’t make it any more difficult to use. The synth is working great, everything is functional with the one minor exception that the pitch bend up is a little unresponsive (the downward and trill work fine). The sliders work well and there are no scratchy pots. I tested the synth down to the CV/Gate and everything is work well with the noted exceptions. I also put new bushings in the keys so they are real responsive (the older ones were eroding causing crooked teeth). I am the second owner of this synth and I know the first and it has been very well taken care of through out the years. ” Link
“I’m selling off my arp axxe, which currently isn’t functioning properly. It just doesn’t make synth sounds when the keys are pressed, but when I move the sliders I can hear the sound waves and frequencies changing when I press the keys just no synth sounds come out. I opened it up and everything is there, none of the boards are burnt or anything, and the soldier joints look fine. The only mod done to this keyboard was that a volume knob was added sometime in its life, long before I got it. The synth has some wear on it but looks in very nice shape to be from the 70’s also the ground plug is missing, so there is only the two prongs but the unit still turns on properly. I also have the original manual for it which is very cool and nostalgic looking. I don’t know much about electronics especially when it comes to keyboards, so it might be an easy fix or this unit would be great for parts, its up to the winner to decide what they want to do with it. I also have all the color tips for the sliders” Link
“Up for bid is the Vintage ARP AXXE analog synthesizer. You need to put extra effort on 8 sliders in order to move up and down as they are “little sticky”. You can hear the sound change when sliders are engage. The original owner sprayed already sprayed some contact cleaner around the sliders. Keys works and doesn’t stick. All the other switches works.
It’s in fair cosmetic shape. The side panels is peeling off on the edges and accumolated some dirt. Some missing screws on the back, some screws has rust spots. Visible scratches, scuffs mostly on the bottom panel &side panels. The black front panel is in good shape. Unit has been stored for a while.
Working synth at its current condition but could still needs to check , cleaned and check up by a tech in order to get it’s full potential.” Link
“Mein Exfreund hat eingewilligt, dass ich seine Musikinstrumente verkaufen darf, weil er seine Schulden nicht zurückzahlen kann.
Deswegen hier ein:
Arp Axxe analog Synthesizer
Foreign bidders are welcome!” Link
“Very nice ARP Axxe vintage analog synthesizer. This is the later version with the PPC (Proportional Pitch Control) pads. This synth has recently been serviced and works and sounds great. All the keyboard bushings have been replaced with new bushings and properly lubricated so the keyboard action is excellent. It is in very good cosmetic condition with the normal amount of scratches that are to be expected from a 30+ year old instrument. The leather end caps are in good condition and the bottom keyboard contact protector is intact. The slider caps are not original but look very nice and fit snug to the sliders. All sliders have been cleaned and properly lubricated. This synth has been fitted with the LFO free-run mod. Normally the ARP Axxe will reset the LFO every time a new key is pressed. This mod can switch off that LFO retrigger. This mod allow very expressive and smooth filter sweeps. This item is ready for the stage or studio! A power cord is included. ” Link
“This is an Arp Axxe mk I analog synth with a custom hard shell case. It’s in good shape with minimal wear and sounds great! The only issues are that it is missing two slider cap/covers and has a small piece of electrical tape on the cord. There are also some scratches on the bottom (one larger one) and normal wear and tear for a synth this old. And a couple of the sliders are slightly stiffer than the others, but still work fine. These issues are purely cosmetic and don’t affect the functioning of the synth. The keyboard is in excellent shape and still plays very smoothly considering that it’s over 30 years old. You shouldn’t need to get it re-bushed or leveled any time soon. This is also the model with the Moog ripoff filter and it can do excellent, fat Moog bass. It can also do decent leads and sound effects. A great, basic monosynth. I hate to get rid of it, but I have an Odyssey and this just doesn’t get played as much anymore. Below are some links with more information about the Axxe. Shipping is a bit pricey on this because the custom hard shell case weighs quite a bit – with the Axxe in it, it’s close to 50 lbs.” Link

“Up for auction is an Arp Axxe analog synthesizer in amazing condition. All the sliders, knobs, and switches operate perfectly, free of unwanted noise. There is a little sticker below where the VCA gain and ADRS labeling has started to fade. Otherwise, there is no physical damage to the unit.
At some point, the sides were repainted light blue.” Link
“They don’t make them like this anymore! This is an original Arp Axxe vintage analog synthesizer. This is the real thing, and produces the sound that you’d expect from an Arp. There are a few fader knobs missing, but they can still be moved. There are some scratchy sounds that could probably be easily fixed with a little electronic spray.” Link

“Vintage Arp Axxe variable analog synthesizer in good working condition. I’m the original owner the Axxe was bought by me in the late 70’s and was used off and on for a few years in the top40 cover bands I played in on the weekends.Since then I’ve played music mainly as as hobby and the axxe has been part of my setup in my music room and otherwise never leaves the house. Its in better then good condition cosmetically and has all the originals parts. The keys are in excellent shape, ADSR envelope generator works fine,The VCO’s work and stay in perfect tune. VCA And VCF’s work but not as well as when the Axxe was new. Also the random S/H works but again not as well as when the synth was new.The sliders can be a little stiff which is common with a synth this age and this model came with the pad bender which isn’t working.I don’t need to tell the savvy web user here about how easy it is to find parts and service for vintage gear, that being said I could take this synth out to a live or studio gig tonight and get great sounds out of it, but could it use a little work? yes its almost 35 years old but has been very well taken care of. The reason I’m selling the axxe is I’m interested in upgrading to more midi friendly gear and no I’m not interested in any trades for this auction. I still have the owners manual but not the case which was lost during a move.” Link
“Important, make sure to read description! Arp Axxe analog synth, it works but could use a little attention. The sliders are crackly and can be fiddly,ie. they work but if you push a few of them all of the way down they go to 100%, the portamento and the attack and decay act in this way. The amp sliders are quite crackly and have to be finessed into the sweet spot to work properly. I just played the synth for the last hour and all of the functions work and have worked for the 10 years I have owned this synth, it stays in tune, but it is not a new synth, or even close. As well as its functional issues it is also ugly as you can see from the photos, just look at the keys, I’m not sure how they got that way, but there you go. The sound is noisy but nice in a Boards of Canada kinda way. It would be really cool if someone was willing to put in the work and replace a few sliders and caps, I thought about doing it myself but lack the skill and time.” Link
“This is a rare vinatge synth SNo 2321/0797 of the 2321 Arp Axxe’s. This synth is in exellent condition apart from the obvious low Db key missing, which I dont view as a problem, one can fit A N other plastic key from anywhere at pence price and it will still do the job as it once did.” Link
“ARP Axxe analog monosynth in amazing condition, with original manual and power cable. The only marks on it are on the bottom, and right-front bottom, as shown in the pictures. The face and keys are immaculate. All parts are original and everything is in perfect working order.
Makes great bass and lead synthesizer lines…amazing filter. This is one of the nicest vintage synthesizers I have seen.
Has separate CV/Gate/Trig Ins and Outs, External Audio Input, Pedal Input, and High/Low Audio Outs. Features PPC (Proportional Pitch Control).
Comes with a homemade plywood case that the original owner built, so shipping will be a bit higher. But it’s worth it to keep this beauty in excellent shape, especially after 30 years. Due to age, this is an as-is sale.” Link

Looks like it’s inscribed to “Jim” not “David.”
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy a synthesizer autographed by the composer Karlheinz Stockhausen!
I loaned this synth to Stockhausen for a series of performances of the opera ‘Donnerstag Aus Licht’ at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 1985.
After the performances ended, I asked Stockhausen to autograph the synth for me.
Dedication reads ‘For another FESTIVAL, David? I’m with you! Stockhausen Oct. 1st, 1985′. Unfortunately the pen wasn’t a very good contrast with the black surface of the synth, but the writing is clearly readable to the eye.
The synth works but will need a thorough service. Currently, the notes do not finish properly and some of the keys are uneven in height.
The Random S/H switch is broken but does function.
Regarding certification of the autograph, I will give the winning bidder a signed letter stating the authenticity of the autograph, on request.” Link

“This is the mk II version with the funky orange colouring on the control panel and what a synth this is. This is the real deal when it comes to analog synths. This is truely analog. It sounds warm and fat and the filter is wicked.
The tuning on this example is very good and reasonably stable. There are some scratches which are to be expected on a synth this age but all the controls are quite clean.” Link

Sehr krasse Filter.

“Hi eBayers, I’m selling a very rare and sought after analog synthesizer. This is a MK1 3213 Model ARP Axxe. It is a 37 key monophonic synth made in the USA. This baby is capable of some of the coolest analog synth sounds available. I am not going to go into detail as to how it works because if you are interested you know what this thing can do. That being said, please feel free to ask any questions.
DESCRIPTION:
This synth is in amazing condition with only very minor knicks in the paint and some small scuffs on the wood sides. Also, two of the sliders are missing the caps. These are probably very easy to find and cheap. It has been kept in it’s custom wine red flight case for the majority of it’s life. The original owner took it in to have an early modification done by the factory which replaced the “expression knob” with a touch pad that allows for vibrato and pitch shifting. It is a rare find and makes the synth much more expressive and fun to use. I have the paperwork for it.

There are a TON OF PICTURES that will tell you all you need to know about this excellent working and looking synth!

“You are bidding on a lovingly cared for orange and black face ARP Axxe synthesizer model 2323 in excellent ‘collector’ condition. These units were the final ones to be produced by ARP from about 1978 up through ARP’s demise in 1981. It is a monophonic analog synth with one voltage controlled oscillator, permitting one note playablility at a time. Excellent for solo leads or bass synth lines. This specific unit works 100% and has no broken slider control posts. All keys are level and accurate (not common for ARP’s of this vintage) and all color coded knobs are in their correct locations according to the manufacturer’s specifications and slider’s function. There are some slider controls that ’stick’ while moving them, but work fine using the proper care. This was also common even for brand new units in the day. I know…I was there. The synth has very few cosmetic scratches, but that needs to be noted. I would rate this cosmetically a solid 8.5 out of 10. It could very well be used in a gig setting right now if a buyer had that kind of interest, since it is that nice of a unit. An excellent home studio unit or collector’s piece. Correct power cord supplied. No disappointments.
Also included in this auction is an additional ARP Axxe model 2321(earlier in the orange & blackface production), which I have used over the years to access replacement parts whenever needed on the 2323. This ‘parts unit’ has the classic wooden sides, as opposed to the final production 2323’s (and ARP Odyssey’s) which were produced with tanned leather sides in order to reduce original production costs and provide improved durability.
Both units are constructed of stamped steel, thus providing substantial weight for a keyboard of this size (21 lbs. each) and will be shipped together” Link
