“Arp Odyssey MK3. Not a Korg or a Behringer it is the original 2821 Odyssey.

It still powers up and sounds amazing. However, this one has served me well but has run into a small problem recently as it is getting stuck in ‘sample and hold mode. The whole synth was deep cleaned by our tech. But we didn’t service her this time as we were just quoted £245-450 for the Odyssey to be repaired. This is reflected in the price of my auction.

It will need this service to get it out of the sample and hold fault. The tech believes it to be a loose board but I am not confident enough to open her up.

” Vintage Arp Odyssey 2800, in overall pretty good shape for its age. I’ve had this since the 80’s and taken pretty good care of it. I am the 2nd owner. Got it from a songwriter friend in NYC. I’ve had a few repairs done on it since by a vintage keyboard tech. here in CA. Keyboard was completely rebuilt, a few capacitors replaced and cleaned up.

“Vintage ARP Odyssey MKII 2813 Analog Synth

This is an early MKII and had the desirable “Lawsuit” 4035 Filter installed. I found it to be a little noisy so I replaced it with a vintage 4075 Filter. To me they sound the same with the 4075 having less noise. The 4075 does have the proper resistors for the CV range correction. I will gladly reinstall the 4035 Filter at buyers request.

It has been completely restored with the following work:

Thoroughly cleaned inside and out

All sliders replaced with new

All Polarized Capacitors replaced with new

External Input and High Output RCA jacks replaced with 1/4” Switchcraft Jacks

Pratt Read Keyboard Bushings replaced and lubed with the proper release compound.

Keyboard leveled and J-Wires adjusted.

Full Calibration to Factory Spec

The power cable has a broken ground pin. I will replace the power cable at buyers request.

This Odyssey sounds fantastic.

” ARP Odyssey MKIII, Vintage Synth, Not Reissue, Used, Good Condition. I am not a synth or electronics tech but this synth is complete and appears to function when turned on and plugged in. It is very old and may need tuning or light repair to be stage or musuem quality. But overall it looks and plays great for its age. All the keys, buttons, and sliders work but there may need to be some cleaning or light repair to get it 100%. “I have owned this ARP Quartet from new and it has been well looked after and the condition of the wooden and metal casing and paintwork is very good for the age. It has always been stored in its original box but the box is looking very worn now. There is a small area of flaked off paint on the rear of the keyboard that is visible in one of the photos. The sound is very good but there are two issues that i can see that you might want to get sorted if you purchased the keyboard. The volume slider dosen’t adjust the volume any longer so i adjust the volume via my amp so i have never bothered to get it fixed. All sounds and effects work except for the celest on the organ section. The slider has come loose and the celest sound is permanently off. We’ve owned it it and used it for the past 10 years here in our studio. Never gigged in our possession. Look at the pics.. Pretty sure it’s never been gigged. It looks fantastic.

We had it gone over by a veteran analog synth tech last year. Basic stuff like a full calibration, fader cleaning, power supply recap. J wires cleaned.

“ARP Odyssey MkIII (vintage) in OK condition: some scuffs at the edges (see pics) but the face plate is very nice. Recently serviced:

– All faders opened and cleaned, re-lubricated. Feels and work very well.

– New keyboard bushings.

– New parts in the PSU.

– Sub-Osc mod, the “VCA Gain” fader now controls the volume of a sub-oscillator (copied from a SH101).

– AR fast/slow mod to make the AR-envelope faster.

– Free run mod: choose if the LFO shall re-trigger on every new note or if it should run free.

– Timothy Smith Filter mod, which makes the filter open up more

As most of you know, the 2800 Mk1 is essentially a white face on the outside.

Somewhere in-between the Mk1 design and the Odyssey II / Mk2/ Rev 2 launch,.. there were a few transitional designs that ARP released.
