“This is a vintage analog synthesizer. My understanding is that the 3620 allows the player to sound 2 keys at one, so I believe this is a duophonic synth. The ARP 2600 is an absolute classic analog synth. The synth was just serviced by Midwest Music Menders in Chicago to ensure all was in good shape for the new owner. There is no problem with this unit, I just need the money. ” Link

” The ARP 2600 is without a doubt one of the finest analog synthesizers ever. It is very popular and has been used by artists for over 20 years in all forms of music, especially today’s electronic music. The 2600 is a professional, semi-modular, monophonic, patch-cable synthesizer that competed directly against the first professional Modular Moog synths during the early 1970′s. Unlike other modular systems of the time which required you to pick and choose modules that you (or the manufacturer) then had to mount inside a case and wire together, the 2600 is semi-modular with a fixed selection of basic synth modules internally pre-wired and ready to go! Most of these connections can be “re-wired” with patch-cords and clearly labeled patch-points. This made the 2600 more user-friendly, portable and easier to create sounds with!
The 2600 is a 3-VCO analog beast capable of creating some amazing sounds thanks to exclusive ARP technologies. Truly a model of analog synthesis, the 2600 has plenty of switches & sliders to satisfy all your tweak-able needs. You have the freedom to route the sounds that originate from its oscillators anywhere you want. If you have a keen understanding of signal-flow and understand how the different synth modules operate, you can create some of the most musically expressive analog sounds ever! It even has a built-in spring reverb, amp and stereo speakers.
This item has been air conditioned kept. This machine is a lot of fun as is guaranteed to take your music to the next level.” Link
“Hi, You are bidding on a ARP 2600 synthesizer + 3620 keyboard Vintage Analogue Synth, if your looking you know what this incredible synth can do. The ARP 2600 is a very rare synth, which you dont see it everyday for sale, especially in its condition, its in almost mueseum quality, Incuding a very rare original owners manual, original ARP 2600 patch book, which is also very rare, original patch leads, also the original service manual. Trust me this is the real deal, I bet you, that you will NEVER see an ARP 2600 synthesizer with 3620 keyboard, in this condition. At this very moment I am alredy regreting the fact that I m putting it up for sale. The reason that I m selling it is due to finacial reasons, .otheriwise I would definitly keep it. It is in perfect working order! Also the telex is I would say its in 97%, in great condition. I should point out that there are two broken sliders, this can easily be replaced, still this dosent effect its working condition. It never had been gigged out it was used in domestic use only, in a smoke free home. I should clear out that there is no noise when you, move the sliders during operation, and all the modules work perfectly including the great reverb and the built in speakers! The voltage is 110V, if in your area is 220V, all you need is a 100watt voltage converter, which could be easily be found from a maplins hardware store, or any hardware store.” Link
“ARP 2600 Synth (+Keyboard) for sale
This Auction is for a ARP 2600 Analog Synthesizer with a Model 3620 Keyboard. Both the synth AND the keyboard are Serial Number 0312 (they Match!). The instrument is 100% fully functional. I just had it serviced by my tech, who upgraded the power supply to a more stable (modern) unit, tested all modules, and fully cleaned & calibrated everything.
This unit is 100% stock with the exception of the upgraded power supply and an IEC power input connector. There is also a u-bracket missing from one of the keyboard case latches. All other latches & handles intact. Keyboard cable and connector is original . EVERYTHING WORKS. It is also in extremely good shape cosmetically, with only minor damage to the tolex inside the synth case cover (minor peeling on one side). There is also one slider cap missing; I have not been able to locate a replacement. Included is the manual (in a looseleaf binder). Sold as is. This thing sounds Absolutely Amazing” Link

“ARP 2600 Vintage Analog Synthesizer and Keyboard! NEAR MINT
If you have ever wanted to buy an Arp 2600 this is the one.
This ARP Synth and controller is in near perfect shape. Both the synth and the keyboard work 100%. The keys them selves are smooth and even with no yellowing or cracking. I have worked through hundreds of patches with this synth, both on its own and with a sequencer and all of the connections are in great shape. I recently had this gone through professionally by Deltronics in Chicago.
It has had only two owners in its history, myself and the person that I bought it from. It was not used for more then ten years before I used it.
Here are the only things that keep it from being mint :
- There are no tears in the tolex at all, but one spot on the inside of the controller cover has come unglued and on the inside of both the controller cover and the synth cover the tolex is bubbled near the corners, again the glue has dried out. Both of these are very easy fixes, but as I never took it out of my studio, I had little need to worry about the cases.
- The metal feet on the backside of the synth also show little bit of surface rust, but all of the other metal hardware is in good shape.
None of these effect the function of the synth, they are cosmetic and are all easily and cheaply fixed. Please refer to the picture to see these in detail.

I am the second owner of this classic combo, the 2600 and keyboard were purchased new in 1980 by a local jazz keyboardist and Zawinul enthusiast. He was using it with a Polyfusion keyboard, the 2600 had been modified to accommodate this keyboard, but the modification was reversed during restoration. This had the advantage of preserving the original 3620 keyboard which was hardly ever played. The keyboard is in great shape, my tech had to clean the bus bars due to lack of use, but it now works 100% and plays great. The original owner also took the logos off the units, possibly to make the cases less recognizable to thiefs. Both cases are also nice on the outside, the metal parts are shiny and the tolex looks great except for some light wear and small stains (look at the pics, this is barely noticeable).
The 2600 was thoroughly taken apart and cleaned, every circuit board was removed and cleaned, all sliders were lubricated and every connector was cleaned. All cabling was then reorganized and tie-wrapped nice and neat! Once that was done, it was calibrated according the service manual.
That means that every slider operates smoothly, every connector works and it is clean, dust-free, and most importantly, it sounds amazing, like it’s supposed to!
Here are a list of the specific repairs :
4 slider tips were repaired with identical replacements.
NOS power connector was re-fitted (comes with original cable)
NOS handle was fitted (quasi-identical)
NOS keyboard connector was fitted
Some Polyfusion-specific internal normalization was removed
Polyfusion front panel gate input removed and capped
2 Polyfusion connection inputs removed from the left side and patched
(one tiny hole on upper right panel left (see pics)
new orange LED in the power indicator
New capacitors on the power supply
Tolex on both cases was cleaned and refinished.
Additionally, my tech performed some great modifications :
Filter upgrade :
the 4072 filter was upgraded to correct the “error” causing the filter to open to a maximum of around 12k, now it’s nice and bright when fully open (28k apparently). The filter kept its original character, just with extended range. The upgraded 4072 is a very nice sounding filter, just as good and useful as the previous moog-like filter Arp used, but a bit more unique and exclusive!
Reverb upgrade :
The reverb tank was changed to a looong type 9 NOS replacement. The first 2600s’ had this type of tank and are known for their longer, fuller reverb.
The original reverb tanks were made by Hammond, their reverb division then took the name Accutronics. Thankfully I was able to purchase a remaining american made Accutronics tank (now made in Korea). The original small tank is included in the auction as well. My tech also performed a modification to lower the noise floor, and made the connections balanced using good quality cables (Canare). I am a fan of spring reverb and own a few and was very pleased with how this one sounded! The tank has been mounted vertically to avoid interference with the speakers at max volume but can still occur if you try hard. These mods, along with new caps on the power supply and proper calibration, greatly improve the 2600′s signal-to-noise ratio.
I chose to limit the modifications to this, everything is possible when modifiying gear, but preserving the character of such a classic is more important.
Please look at the pictures in detail to see how nice both the synth and keyboard are. here
This is a rare chance to have a reliable late 2600 that’s fully serviced and has all the upgrades desired for studio use while maintaining its classic sound and vintage appeal.
I would love to keep it, but I’ve bought another big item (Minimoog!) lately and cannot keep both.” Link
“Arp 2600 model 2601
Serial number 0398
I acquired this synthesizer from a good friend. It had been stored in his parent’s basement for some time, as it used to belong to his uncle. To my delight, compared to what I’ve read about these synthesizers and how they tend to age, it was in fantastic shape!
This is the Arp 2600 model 2601 synthesizer, which has long been one of the most popular and sought after of the old modular analog synths. It has an amazing combination of both ease of use, nearly mind-boggling flexibility and incredible sound that is almost impossible to beat in synths of its time. However, if you’re looking at this auction you already know all this!
Regarding this particular specimen:
This is an earlier model 2601 and DOES have the “coveted” 4012 “Moog” style filter. Moog eventually filed a patent lawsuit, which forced Arp to design a new filter that was not well received. The result is that this synth has that wonderful warm Moog style sound to it. Furthermore, it has an extremely wide frequency response, where the newer filters were limited to about 12khz
This synth also has the upgraded 3620 keyboard which added some much needed features to the Arp. First, it added an “upper voice” feature, which gives this synth a duo-phonic capability, as you can hook this second voice up to one of the oscillators and play intervals. Second, it has a built-in LFO with delay capability. A limitation of the Arp was that you had to sacrifice one of your oscillators if you wanted to use a sin-wave modulation source. No more! I don’t recall if the old keyboard had portamento, but the new one definitely does.
Upon opening this synth up for the first time, it did not work. Under closer inspection, the sound module worked fine, but shut down when you plugged the keyboard in. With some close inspection with a multimeter I found the problem was the two tantalum capacitors on the power supply rails in the keyboard having failed and causing a short. Upon replacing them, the synth worked just fine.
The sound module itself is in pristine condition. I have provided pictures of the inside of the synth and it is like new. All the sliding potentiometers are gunk and noise free. It’s an absolute pleasure to tinker with!
The keyboard however needed some work. The sliders on the keyboard were somewhat gunked up, which I was able to mostly clear out with contact cleaner. They’re not as nice as the sliders on the synth, but they’re not too bad and totally usable. The keys were sticking a lot, too, and clattering, and it wouldn’t hold pitch. So, I went through and cleaned and adjusted all the contacts on the keyboard to specification, and ordered some brand new rubber bushings for the keyboard. It’s an unbelievable difference. The keyboard is now quiet, fast, accurate; an absolute pleasure to play on.
The internal speakers are still in great shape, and from the inside they look brand new.
Finally, the case itself is in quite good condition, but does have a few nicks, scratches, and smudges as would be expected from a synth this age. It actually looks significantly better in person than it does in the pictures, and I think it would clean up to near-new with the proper solvent. Not knowing exactly what material it was wrapped in, I didn’t want to risk using a chemical on it that would make things worse.
Aside from the bushings on the keyboard and the tantalum capacitors in the keyboard, this synth is all-original and sounds great. I have included several videos to demonstrate the sound fidelity of this synth along with showing it physically in action” Link
“I am offering for sale this ARP 2601 (S/N 26010812) with matching 3620 keyboard controller (S/N 36200812). This unit is in spectacularly clean and well-preserved original condition. The entire system shows little to no use, and has obviously never been gigged out. Even the cases show very little wear! (I would be surprised if they were out of the storage closet little more than a few times…)
I acquired this synth from a university music department which was disposing of old unused equipment during a relocation. These cases were among several reel to reel players, turntables and 1/4″ patch bays, all destined for the trash!!!
The only change from stock is the addition of an IEC power connector (same as every computer). Sometime in the past, someone had attempted to use the wrong 3-pin power cord and snapped the ceramic between the hot and ground leads.
It would be great to keep this unit for myself and live out my childhood dreams of being Thomas Dolby, Jean-Michel Jarre, and every other early synth pioneer, but sadly I was born talentless. Therefore, I would love to see this go to a good home where it will make wonderful music once again…” Link
“Arp Model 3620 Keyboard for the Arp 2600 Analog Modular Synthesizer. Keyboard in excellent condition. Control face spotless, keys perfect, tolex and hardware in excellent condition. It’s evident that this keyboard was not gigged. I bought the keyboard in 1996 to increase the playability and capabilities of my 2600 which came with the 3604P keyboard (both also up for sale right now). The biggest advantage this keyboard adds is the LFO, which frees up an oscillator in the synth for another voice. The vibrato controls are also really nice additions the keyboard adds. All controls 100% and function/feel fine. Keyboard to synth cable permantely factory attached versus earlier versions where the cable was detachable (one less multi-pin jack pair to fail). Cable perfect – no breaks, tape etc.
The control panel includes: pitch bend knob, 2 octaves up/down switch, portamento on/off switch, portamento momentary button, portamento rate slider, single/multiple trigger mode switch, keyboard/auto repeat switch, LFO speed slider, vibrato delay slider, vibrato depth slider, LFO sine wave jack, LFO square wave jack, external vibrato in jack, LFO sine wave delayed jack, portamento foot switch 1/4″ jack, interal latch footswitch 1/4″ jack.” Link

“Today, in the continuing listing of my synth collection, is the highly coveted and rare, ARP 2600. This particular synth was restored by John @ Synhouse.com. It is the model 2601 and has the model 3620 keyboard. This is a matching pair, both serial numbers are 0413. Very hard to find these things with matching serials, for some reason. This synth comes with an original ARP 2600 manual, which is in good condition, the glue is old and the first couple of pages have come loose. It also comes with some original patch cords as well as custom patch cords, you can see them in the picture. This is a very special ARP as it has MIDI installed. It very well may be the first and ONLY ARP 2600 to have that. You can see picture 7 where the MIDI jack is located, the reset button (in picture
is discretely located. For very simple instructions on how the MIDIJack works go to http://www.synhouse.com/M1-Analog-User.html It is very simple.
Also, there were some modifications done to this synth, prior to the restoration, as you can see in photos 9 and 10. These were left intact, since they were cool, and just added some extra capabilities. The red tape is from the original modification, circa late 70′s. This ARP 2600 was purchased from a studio in California and is rumored to have been used in some capacity during the filming of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. It cannot be confirmed or denied, so take it for what it is, a cool little tidbit. I have A/Bed this with the Timewarp 2600 and the Arturia 2600 virtual synths and it is not even close! This monster blows them away. Do not believe the hype. These old analog synths are VERY much worth whatever you pay for them. They may sound similar when you record the synth digitally, but if you play the synth through a PA, then play the virtual, digitized version through the PA, YOU CAN DEFINITELY HEAR THE DIFFERENCE! If I were playing live, it would be a no brainer. You really can hear the difference.” Link
“I am the original owner of this ARP 2600 synthesizer. I bought it new in 1980 at Caruso’s Music in New London Ct. It has only seen use in my non-smoking studios, never gigged. I have the original manual, patch cables, shorting plugs, power cable, and foot switch. Matching serial numbers on the main unit and keyboard. The tops for the cases are intact. There is one scratch in the tolex on the case cover for the main unit. The main unit is missing one side of the trim cover for the handle. Everything is in working order, no modifications have ever been made to this unit. I don’t have a way to host more pictures, so I am stuck with the eBay 12 picture limit. I will email pictures to any serious buyers.
This unit is a 2601 Rev3, which is the very last revision of the 2600. It comes with the 3620 keyboard, which is duophonic. The last 1,000 units made were 2601s and only the last 100 or so were Rev3. They are quite rare. This is important, because the Rev3s did not have potted submodules, so they can be worked on. The rev3s were mechanically superior to the earlier models. Some people do not like the later filter as much, but that is an $99.00 upgrade from CMS. I like the sonics on this one, I have never found it to be dull or noisy, so I have never modded it.” Link
“You are bidding on a vintage arp 2600P synthesizer.
As you can see from the pictures, this particular synth did not get a lot of use – in fact, I’ve had it in my storage facility untouched for well over a decade.
I have an original ARP book filled to the brim with patches, including the original R2-D2. Given the age of the synth, I am selling as-is, but can reliably tell the potential buyer. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Given the weight & age of the equipment, I would prefer a local buyer to pick up, but will ship with lot’s of packing and TLC.
1) in general, it is in VERY good condition, inside & out.
2) if I were keeping it, I would replace the power supply.
This is one of MANY interesting item’s I’ll be selling over the next couple of weeks as I thin out the facility. I have a very extensive collection of vintage technology (computers, synthesizers, arcade games, etc…) which my wife has been on me to do something with. bookmark me if you are interested in Moog products, an original Apple 1 computer, and lot’s of other cool old stuff.” Link
