“This is a vintage analog synthesizer. My understanding is that the 3620 allows the player to sound 2 keys at one, so I believe this is a duophonic synth. The ARP 2600 is an absolute classic analog synth. The synth was just serviced by Midwest Music Menders in Chicago to ensure all was in good shape for the new owner. There is no problem with this unit, I just need the money. ” Link
“ARP 2600 synthesizer with ARP 3604P keyboard (serial #’s 26888 & 36888, respectively). Restored & customized with really useful upgrades by Tim Smith of Weyer-Smith Labs/The Audio Clinic in 1995. Do a Web search for “ARP 2600″ for various descriptions of this popular analog synthesizer. The ARP 2600 was used by a wide variety of artists including Genesis (Tony Banks), Edgar Winter (on “Frankenstein”), Weather Report (Joe Zawinul), The Tubes (Michael Cotton) and many others.
After restoration, this unit sounded incredible. Upgrades, customizations & repairs included (see photos):
• replaced VCF wih 4072 filter (22kHz response), and added VCF input coupling modification to eliminated ‘thumping’ sound defect
• added +1/-1 octave switches for each VCO, and Multiples jacks
• added 4 mode envelope time extension modification for both ADSR & AR envelopes (X1-X5 modes)
• did “2600/3604/Oberheim” modification (CV1=standard; CV2=2nd voice)
• added 1/4″ output jacks (above standard mini-jacks)
• modified reverb system for better response and 14 dB less noise
• added saw/square-wave form switches to each oscillator to eliminator patch cords for this common patch
• installed standard (IEC-type) power cable interface
• replaced op-amps with BurrBrown AP2604 audiophile components, and in voltage processor section to fix Lag offset tuning problems
• replaced keyboard interface cable and cleaned jacks & plugs, and repaired, calibrated, timed & tested keyboard
• rescaled & cleaned power supply, pots., sliders, etc., and replaced defective sliders
If desired, Seller will include photocopies of ARP 2600 documentation, brochures, Patch Book, blank patch sheets, etc., that may be Seller’s possession, as well as any digital copies he has of ARP 2600 documentation, including the Service Manual. (NOTE: Original ARP documents as may be pictured in Photo#9 are NOT included, but only black & white COPIES.)
The unit has always been in a climate-controlled, clean, smoke-free, studio environment. Seller has not used it much in the past few years. When it was turned-on recently, it was not working properly. Seller’s technician looked at it briefly, but did not have time to investigate & repair it before he went overseas. Seller can refer Buyer to various qualified technicians in the U.S. or internationally. Hopefully, any required repairs will be straightforward & inexpensive, including possibly power-amps, op-amps, power transistors and/or capacitors. Therefore, Buyer is selling unit “as is.”" Link
Seriously, this version of the 2600 might be the most desirable to have if you are looking for sonic goodness. It’s an ARP 2600P V1.0 and has the 4017 VCOs… AND the classic Moog style 4012 ladder filter. Both of these are missing from later versions… the 4017s immediately after the 2600P V1.0 and the Moog Filter beginning in 1976 after a lawsuit. This unit was built in 1971.
So what’s the significance of the 4017s and 4012? While the 4027 replacement VCOs were a little more stable, they were not nearly as hi-fi as the 4017s. You can really tell the difference. These things are as FAT as they come. In addition, the Moog ladder filter simply could not be duplicated. This is the synth that the ARP manufacturers originally designed the 2600 to be and sound like. But it’s more serviceable than the original Blue Marvin and Grey Meanie. Serial #13005 with the Tonus logo as you can see. The keyboard is the 3604 with Serial #13006.
This one is in 100% working condition. All parts were recently cleaned, sliders taken apart cleaned and re-lubed. The unit was calibrated and speakers were replaced with Sony XS-R4644 4-ways with added resistors to make it essentially a 40 ohm speaker. If you want to replace them with new speakers to the original specs, those are available. I didn’t think it necessary and really wanted a speaker with more fidelity when I needed it like the Sony’s. But most of the time I didn’t need it and I’m thinking that you will be running this through a system of some type anyway. So it shouldn’t really matter to you either.
This unit tracks octaves very well. It’s actually quite stable in that regard for being an early model. As I mentioned to start, this thing is alive and can really growl (some distortion in the VCA section when sliders are at max). Or, it can be as clean as any ARP 2600 can be. The fact is, this synth has more character than any synth I’ve ever owned and I’ve had 25+ over the years. I have a 1977 MiniMoog Model D. And while it is a fine instrument, it doesn’t hold a candle to this 2600. This 2600 really is something special… and always full of surprises it seems… good ones.
If you are looking for an awesome sounding synth, this is your baby. If you are looking for a museum piece, it can become one. But you’ll need to do some things to it cosmetically.
The Tolex (covering) has been scuffed on the back of the unit and you can see it in photo #7. There are some other, less noticeable scuff marks. And there are also some spots where the Tolex has wrinkled some as well. If that matters to you, you can have it recovered in Tolex… which is available online. I didn’t see any reason to do it because it’s mostly on the lids and on the back of the unit. I never saw it or had to look at it. There are 5 slider knobs missing. You can see that in photo #2. I haven’t tried to find any of these so I don’t know how available they are. But I bet one could fabricate those pretty easily if it matters. As is common with 2600s, there’s a little rust on the metal hardware on the outside of the case. The rest of the unit is free of rust and very clean. The front panel’s in remarkable condition and is nearly a 10 out of 10 with no noticeable scratches.
Anything that is not perfect about it cosmetically can be fixed. This unit could be restored to near mint condition if someone wanted to do that. It comes with original Owner’s Manual, original Patch Book, Power Cord, Keyboard Connector Cord and lots of patch cables of varying lengths. You can see it all in photo #8.
This synth is an invaluable asset to anyone producing serious electronic music – techno, industrial, noise, synthpop, new wave, electro clash, experimental, pop, rock, new age or other styles.” Link
“rare ARP 2600 v2.0 Tonus Logo + 3604P keyboards – vintage 1971-72
Classic Vintage Analog Modular Synthesizer
If you are looking at this then you already know why you want it. This is a fully functioning early grey faced Tonus logo Arp 2600 v2.0 and companion 3604p keyboard .
Please refer to the cms nexus for arp identification info, but this was probably manufactured in 71. It has the short panel height of 14.5 and silkscreen labels on the trim pots. The oscillators are 4027′s and the filter is, of course, a 4012. All of the modules are original.” Link
” The ARP 2600 is without a doubt one of the finest analog synthesizers ever. It is very popular and has been used by artists for over 20 years in all forms of music, especially today’s electronic music. The 2600 is a professional, semi-modular, monophonic, patch-cable synthesizer that competed directly against the first professional Modular Moog synths during the early 1970′s. Unlike other modular systems of the time which required you to pick and choose modules that you (or the manufacturer) then had to mount inside a case and wire together, the 2600 is semi-modular with a fixed selection of basic synth modules internally pre-wired and ready to go! Most of these connections can be “re-wired” with patch-cords and clearly labeled patch-points. This made the 2600 more user-friendly, portable and easier to create sounds with!
The 2600 is a 3-VCO analog beast capable of creating some amazing sounds thanks to exclusive ARP technologies. Truly a model of analog synthesis, the 2600 has plenty of switches & sliders to satisfy all your tweak-able needs. You have the freedom to route the sounds that originate from its oscillators anywhere you want. If you have a keen understanding of signal-flow and understand how the different synth modules operate, you can create some of the most musically expressive analog sounds ever! It even has a built-in spring reverb, amp and stereo speakers.
This item has been air conditioned kept. This machine is a lot of fun as is guaranteed to take your music to the next level.” Link
“This one is in good cosmetic condition and working 100%. This one does not include the keyboard. There are some small imperfections here and there so please consider this before buying. Most show up in the photos and actually look worse than they are. Probably the lighting! This is a 2600P serial # 26982 with the ARP logo as you can see. The original manual, top lid and power cord are included. ” Link
“Hi, You are bidding on a ARP 2600 synthesizer + 3620 keyboard Vintage Analogue Synth, if your looking you know what this incredible synth can do. The ARP 2600 is a very rare synth, which you dont see it everyday for sale, especially in its condition, its in almost mueseum quality, Incuding a very rare original owners manual, original ARP 2600 patch book, which is also very rare, original patch leads, also the original service manual. Trust me this is the real deal, I bet you, that you will NEVER see an ARP 2600 synthesizer with 3620 keyboard, in this condition. At this very moment I am alredy regreting the fact that I m putting it up for sale. The reason that I m selling it is due to finacial reasons, .otheriwise I would definitly keep it. It is in perfect working order! Also the telex is I would say its in 97%, in great condition. I should point out that there are two broken sliders, this can easily be replaced, still this dosent effect its working condition. It never had been gigged out it was used in domestic use only, in a smoke free home. I should clear out that there is no noise when you, move the sliders during operation, and all the modules work perfectly including the great reverb and the built in speakers! The voltage is 110V, if in your area is 220V, all you need is a 100watt voltage converter, which could be easily be found from a maplins hardware store, or any hardware store.” Link
“ARP 2600 Synthesizer With ARP Keyboard
This is a Reserve Auction
This item was previously owned by world class drummer BILLY COBHAM and perhaps used by him or his traveling band. These items were put in my company’s storage warehouse by him and I ended up owning them. If you don’t know who he is and why he is famous READ ABOUT HIM HERE.
Known as the master of fusion jazz or jazz funk, he has toured as drummer for the likes of THE GRATEFUL DEAD, MILES DAVIS, CARLOS SANTANA, and too many others to list. He was one of the first to utilize electronic drum controllers and other early electronics, and still tours today.
From what I’ve read the ARP 2600 is a classic piece of equipment still sought after today. Here is a link to learn more about it.
http://www.vintagesynth.com/arp/arp.php
Condition: This was found amongst all of this Billy Cobham stuff. Looks to be in excellent condition. I have no way to test it, so I can’t say if it works or not, only that it was saved and he paid to store it for many, many years. From the 70′s or 80′s. Case shows normal wear and tear for having been shipped around. The label shows it was shipped to BC himself at one time. Keys all appear good, all can be pressed and return. Inside keyboard looks really clean, no corrosion noted. Keyboard has 49 keys (29 white and 20 black). All slides and knobs work smoothly. Comes with power cord and 8 patch cords.
Keyboard is model 3604P, Serial #361563, approx. 36″ long. Synth is Model 2600P, Serial # 261563.” Link

All other latches & handles intact. Keyboard cable and connector is original . EVERYTHING WORKS. It is also in extremely good shape cosmetically, with only minor damage to the tolex inside the synth case cover (minor peeling on one side). “ARP 2600 Vintage Analog Synthesizer and Keyboard! NEAR MINT
If you have ever wanted to buy an Arp 2600 this is the one.
This ARP Synth and controller is in near perfect shape. Both the synth and the keyboard work 100%. The keys them selves are smooth and even with no yellowing or cracking. I have worked through hundreds of patches with this synth, both on its own and with a sequencer and all of the connections are in great shape. I recently had this gone through professionally by Deltronics in Chicago.
It has had only two owners in its history, myself and the person that I bought it from. It was not used for more then ten years before I used it.
Here are the only things that keep it from being mint :
- There are no tears in the tolex at all, but one spot on the inside of the controller cover has come unglued and on the inside of both the controller cover and the synth cover the tolex is bubbled near the corners, again the glue has dried out. Both of these are very easy fixes, but as I never took it out of my studio, I had little need to worry about the cases.
- The metal feet on the backside of the synth also show little bit of surface rust, but all of the other metal hardware is in good shape.
None of these effect the function of the synth, they are cosmetic and are all easily and cheaply fixed. Please refer to the picture to see these in detail.

“OK, so here is it: ARP 2600, in full working order, revised recently, sliders cleaned up, all the caps on it…Works perfectly well…This auction concerns only the ARP synth, no keyboard included.
All VCO, VCF, VCA works well, it was recently revised, the reverb works well as well as the 2 external speakers. This is a semi modular synth so everything is nearly patchable on the synth. I will provide a set of patchcables with the synth of course. The tolex is a bit worn in some places and the handle disappeared with time…
The synth is working on the 240V and do not need any adapter, perfect if you are in Australia or in Europ. If you are in the US, just a simple change in the Power supply can bring it back to 110V….They were doing things well then…” Link
“This listing is for an ARP 2600 vintage analog synthesizer. The unit is 100% functional and aside from normal wear & tear on the tolex it is still in good cosmetic condition as well. I just had it fully serviced so it works perfectly and I just had new bushings put in the keyboard as well. I don’t have the lid for the synth but do have the lid for the keyboard.” Link
“This is the legendary ARP 2600 analog synthesizer, fully serviced and calibrated recently by a former ARP engineer! This unit works as well as it did when it rolled off the line.
I have owned this amazing instrument for 30 years. Manufactured in 1981, it was one of the last 2600’s ever made. I was friends with an ARP engineer who gave me the opportunity to purchase the instrument when the factory was closing.
This is more than an instrument, it is a real-time sound environment. It literally feels alive, with a personality all its own. The richness of the sound textures are as important as the notes themselves. Exploring soundscapes with the ARP 2600 is always an adventure. You can create incredible atmospheres; dark, foreboding, ultra modern, voice-like, alien or the richest synth blends imaginable. Because it is analog, and any module can be patched into any other module, you can create extremely complex patterns of sound that make other synths seem one-dimensional.
Many famous groups like Underworld, Depeche Mode, Stevie Wonder and Jean Michel Jarre have used the 2600 for their compositions. It was even used at Skywalker Sound to create the vocalizations for R2D2!
The recent service included cleaning and lubricating all the sliders and replacing all the key bushings on the keyboard. The unit has been fully calibrated back to factory specs. Any electrical problems have been repaired. The patch connectors have all been tested.
This is one of the rare units where none of the modules are potted (sealed with epoxy for secrecy), so it is far easier to repair if necessary.
The ARP uses patch cords with Switchcraft 780 connectors. These are slightly different than standard 1/8th inch audio jacks. I have two original patch cords and will provide 5 more patch cords that are produced using the correct Switchcraft parts.
The 3620 keyboard has had the electronics tested and repaired, sliders cleaned and lubed, key stop bushings all replaced, and the keys aligned. There are no sticky keys and the whole keyboard has a good solid feel.
Both the keyboard and the oscillators on the 2600 have been calibrated to exactly 1 volt per octave to an accuracy of .5 millivolts. The full service manual calibration has been performed. Most of the settings were already remarkably accurate which is a testament to the quality of the 30 year old instrument.
Aesthetically the unit is in very good condition. Some of the white lettering over the orange boxes has begun to fade. I understand that these can be re-stenciled fairly easily if you want the unit to be visually perfect.
A CD-ROM with the owner’s manual, the service manual and the keyboard manuals will be included.” Link

It has been serviced and tested after coming back – everything seems to work fine now.
There were a couple of scratchy sliders that cleaned up with a spritz of tuner cleaner.

I am the second owner of this classic combo, the 2600 and keyboard were purchased new in 1980 by a local jazz keyboardist and Zawinul enthusiast. He was using it with a Polyfusion keyboard, the 2600 had been modified to accommodate this keyboard, but the modification was reversed during restoration. This had the advantage of preserving the original 3620 keyboard which was hardly ever played. The keyboard is in great shape, my tech had to clean the bus bars due to lack of use, but it now works 100% and plays great. The original owner also took the logos off the units, possibly to make the cases less recognizable to thiefs. Both cases are also nice on the outside, the metal parts are shiny and the tolex looks great except for some light wear and small stains (look at the pics, this is barely noticeable).
The 2600 was thoroughly taken apart and cleaned, every circuit board was removed and cleaned, all sliders were lubricated and every connector was cleaned. All cabling was then reorganized and tie-wrapped nice and neat! Once that was done, it was calibrated according the service manual.
That means that every slider operates smoothly, every connector works and it is clean, dust-free, and most importantly, it sounds amazing, like it’s supposed to!
Here are a list of the specific repairs :
4 slider tips were repaired with identical replacements.
NOS power connector was re-fitted (comes with original cable)
NOS handle was fitted (quasi-identical)
NOS keyboard connector was fitted
Some Polyfusion-specific internal normalization was removed
Polyfusion front panel gate input removed and capped
2 Polyfusion connection inputs removed from the left side and patched
(one tiny hole on upper right panel left (see pics)
new orange LED in the power indicator
New capacitors on the power supply
Tolex on both cases was cleaned and refinished.
Additionally, my tech performed some great modifications :
Filter upgrade :
the 4072 filter was upgraded to correct the “error” causing the filter to open to a maximum of around 12k, now it’s nice and bright when fully open (28k apparently). The filter kept its original character, just with extended range. The upgraded 4072 is a very nice sounding filter, just as good and useful as the previous moog-like filter Arp used, but a bit more unique and exclusive!
Reverb upgrade :
The reverb tank was changed to a looong type 9 NOS replacement. The first 2600s’ had this type of tank and are known for their longer, fuller reverb.
The original reverb tanks were made by Hammond, their reverb division then took the name Accutronics. Thankfully I was able to purchase a remaining american made Accutronics tank (now made in Korea). The original small tank is included in the auction as well. My tech also performed a modification to lower the noise floor, and made the connections balanced using good quality cables (Canare). I am a fan of spring reverb and own a few and was very pleased with how this one sounded! The tank has been mounted vertically to avoid interference with the speakers at max volume but can still occur if you try hard. These mods, along with new caps on the power supply and proper calibration, greatly improve the 2600′s signal-to-noise ratio.
I chose to limit the modifications to this, everything is possible when modifiying gear, but preserving the character of such a classic is more important.
Please look at the pictures in detail to see how nice both the synth and keyboard are. here
This is a rare chance to have a reliable late 2600 that’s fully serviced and has all the upgrades desired for studio use while maintaining its classic sound and vintage appeal.
I would love to keep it, but I’ve bought another big item (Minimoog!) lately and cannot keep both.” Link
On offer is one original Vintage ARP Analog semi-modular 2600 rare early TONUS Logo series Electronic Music Synthesizer fully restored.
This is the Arp 2600 model 2601 synthesizer, which has long been one of the most highly prized and sought after of the old modular analog synths. It has an amazing combination of limitless flexibility, ease of use and incredibly sweet sound that is almost impossible to find in other synths of its time. However, if you’re looking at this auction you already know all this!
You may have noticed several 2600s have sold here on eBay recently. Some refurbished, some not. Now if you look at the pictures, you will see that they have the common ARP “G clef” logo. This tells us that these are the later edition synths. Many more of these were made than the rare earlier TONUS ARPs.
The TONUS logo on the electronics and keyboard units not only tell us that this instrument is one of the earliest made but as a result is made as the ARP engineers originally designed it. The great sound and feel of these ARP 2600 TONUS synthesizers attest to this. From what I have seen, the last TONUS ARP 2600 to be offered on eBay, was a very rare Grey Meanie.
Another thing I have noticed when looking through the mods offered to owners of the ARP 2600, is that most of them attempt to bring the later edition synths back to the original edition TONUS specifications.
Some things you get with the TONUS ARP 2600 are the “coveted” sweet sounding 4012 “Moog” style filter, the accurate and stable 4027-1 oscillators, the original Hammond long pan reverb unit, a truly amazing versatile musical instrument that you will enjoy programming and playing and the envy of all your friends. ” Link
“Arp 2600 model 2601
Serial number 0398
I acquired this synthesizer from a good friend. It had been stored in his parent’s basement for some time, as it used to belong to his uncle. To my delight, compared to what I’ve read about these synthesizers and how they tend to age, it was in fantastic shape!
This is the Arp 2600 model 2601 synthesizer, which has long been one of the most popular and sought after of the old modular analog synths. It has an amazing combination of both ease of use, nearly mind-boggling flexibility and incredible sound that is almost impossible to beat in synths of its time. However, if you’re looking at this auction you already know all this!
Regarding this particular specimen:
This is an earlier model 2601 and DOES have the “coveted” 4012 “Moog” style filter. Moog eventually filed a patent lawsuit, which forced Arp to design a new filter that was not well received. The result is that this synth has that wonderful warm Moog style sound to it. Furthermore, it has an extremely wide frequency response, where the newer filters were limited to about 12khz
This synth also has the upgraded 3620 keyboard which added some much needed features to the Arp. First, it added an “upper voice” feature, which gives this synth a duo-phonic capability, as you can hook this second voice up to one of the oscillators and play intervals. Second, it has a built-in LFO with delay capability. A limitation of the Arp was that you had to sacrifice one of your oscillators if you wanted to use a sin-wave modulation source. No more! I don’t recall if the old keyboard had portamento, but the new one definitely does.
Upon opening this synth up for the first time, it did not work. Under closer inspection, the sound module worked fine, but shut down when you plugged the keyboard in. With some close inspection with a multimeter I found the problem was the two tantalum capacitors on the power supply rails in the keyboard having failed and causing a short. Upon replacing them, the synth worked just fine.
The sound module itself is in pristine condition. I have provided pictures of the inside of the synth and it is like new. All the sliding potentiometers are gunk and noise free. It’s an absolute pleasure to tinker with!
The keyboard however needed some work. The sliders on the keyboard were somewhat gunked up, which I was able to mostly clear out with contact cleaner. They’re not as nice as the sliders on the synth, but they’re not too bad and totally usable. The keys were sticking a lot, too, and clattering, and it wouldn’t hold pitch. So, I went through and cleaned and adjusted all the contacts on the keyboard to specification, and ordered some brand new rubber bushings for the keyboard. It’s an unbelievable difference. The keyboard is now quiet, fast, accurate; an absolute pleasure to play on.
The internal speakers are still in great shape, and from the inside they look brand new.
Finally, the case itself is in quite good condition, but does have a few nicks, scratches, and smudges as would be expected from a synth this age. It actually looks significantly better in person than it does in the pictures, and I think it would clean up to near-new with the proper solvent. Not knowing exactly what material it was wrapped in, I didn’t want to risk using a chemical on it that would make things worse.
Aside from the bushings on the keyboard and the tantalum capacitors in the keyboard, this synth is all-original and sounds great. I have included several videos to demonstrate the sound fidelity of this synth along with showing it physically in action” Link
“Here it is, the legendary ARP 2600 grey face in all its beauty.
This is an all original un-modified ARP 2600P with 3604P keyboard.
This model has the pre-lawsuit 4012 moog low pass filter
All sliders are in great shape, clean and work properly
Has original 6pin keyboard connector that is in great shape
Keyboard has new bushings and stays in tune
This ARP has been in a smoke free studio its entire life
Previous owner rarely played this and kept it in tip top shape
Nothing needs to be done to this synth to start recording with it or even playing out live
You will not find another original ARP this clean on ebay
This is an amazingly addictive instrument, it has never let me down. It plays in tune and will consistently surprise you with new sounds. Even the built in speakers have the most amazing character. I prefer to mic them in recording situations just to give things a little extra punch. Its easy to go from funky Herbie Hancock lead sounds to surreal Raymond Scott ‘esqe spacescapes. The 2600 unit and the keyboard have matching serial numbers. I’ve always babied this instrument and kept it clean and dust free. The only thing not included are the front covers for the unit and keyboard, these were most likely put aside and were lost over the years. I have seen these sold online by CMS and other ebay bidders. Also not too hard to fabricate your own replacements.” Link
“I’m selling a grey faced ARP 2600. It is in decent shape, works fully but is missing five slider caps (which can still be had from synthrestore.co.uk.) and the top handle (which can also be found fairly easily). All modules are original and it has the pre lawsuit 4012 moog filter. It was modified to work with sequential circuits sequencers but it does not effect the performance or use of the synth in any way (and makes it easier to sequence if you have one of those sequencers. It’s just a jack on the back of the synth). It does not come with a keyboard but can be controlled by any CV synth or midi synth using a midi to CV converter. I’ve tested it and all jacks and sliders function as well as both internal speakers. It comes with power cord and lid and pdf’s of all the manuals that could be printed out. This is a rare 2600 in that it has the rare 4012 moog filter, but the oscillators are not covered in epoxy (they made this change very shortly before the end of the 4012) which is good if you ever need to have one of the oscillators repaired.” Link
“Zu verkaufen ist ein ARP 2600 im fantastischem Zustand. Er ist komplett mit Tastatur und beidem Kofferdeckel.
Er funktioniert einwandfrei und sieht nach all den Jahren sogar noch neuwertig aus. Ein solches Exemplar dürfte weltweit schwierig zu finden sein.” Link
“I sent the synth to Phil Cirocco at CMS because I wanted it to be restored by the master of ARP 2600 restoration before I sold it. It deserves the best. Phil has meticulously gone through this unit and restored it to all of its’ glory. Phil said that it is in perfect working order other than one speaker distorts a bit on low notes at higher volume. Phil has new replacement speakers available, but it is a small thing and I wanted it keep it as original as possible. Phil has agreed to keep the unit at his shop until the end of the auction. I asked Phil to do me this favor for two reasons.
1) This synth is so valuable and rare that I wanted to keep shipping trips to the absolute minimum. Phil agreed.
2) If you want a mod or something changed, it is already at CMS. It will save you the cost of shipping it back and forth and minimize the risk that this valuable part of musical history could be damaged.
Not to be rude, but if you contact Phil at CMS about this synth, PLEASE only contact him if you are SERIOUS about buying it. It is very cool of Phil to keep my synth at his shop while I sell it here. Please do not waste his time. I have the list of what was done during restoration so please let me email it to you before you contact Phil. It will save both of you time and answer most of your questions in advance.” Link
“For sale, early model Arp 2600 synthesiser with 3604-p keyboard.
Selling as restoration project or spares. Some modules are in working order these include ;Power supply ,Oscillator 1 and 2 ,the sample and hold modulation controls ;output amps and speakers. The main problems are that the filter module is missing from that section (4012) ,the ring mod and osc 3 do not seem to respond, the tolex covering as gone in some area’s of the case’s for both the main synth and the keyboard. There are about 32 slider caps missing from the front panel and one slider stem on the voltage processor section is brocken ,but a spare stem for this will be included as will a copy of the service manual. The condition of the front panel is good overall but has light scratches here and there and a couple of more deeper marks on the left side. The case’s of the main synth and keyboard would need to be repaired and recovered completely ,also the handle for the synth case is missing.
Anyone want to restore one of the most iconic synths of the 1970′s now’s your chance.” Link

“This is the real deal. The “Grey Meanie” w/ early Arp/Tonus logo- You know what that means. This unit is in great condition. The tolex (case) shows the usual signs of wear, but all in all the synth and keyboard are pristine and fully functional. Comes with every cable you’ll need. I’ve only ever used it in the studio.” Link
“This is a vintage Arp 2600 Synth circa 73′
I am the second owner, I purchased it from an estate and it has been sitting in a closet for 20 years. There is a name tape on the outside of the cases, we didn’t want to take it off because we didn’t want to damage the tolex since the tape is so old.
Auction includes Arp unit, matching keyboard and original power and some original patch cables. (see pictures)
This unit has just had a complete overhaul ($2400.00) by Mike Krewitsky of Pro Sound in San Diego. All new parts were made by Phil Cirroco
It was totally taken apart and gone through and cleaned piece by piece, new parts include…
1 new Arp Filter
2 new Arp Oscillator
1 new 1UF CAP 50V
1 new Arp S&H Module
Also a new cable end…
Once all the work was done I was told by Mike that the unit is in very good to excellent working order. Everything works on the synth, all sliders, knobs and patches as well as the stereo speakers on the board.
The keyboard effects all work as well and it stays in tune all the way up the range with no keys that stick.” Link
“Verkaufe meine ARP 2600C aka Gray Meanie.
Mit Originales monophonischer Tastatur.
Sieht SEHR SEHR GUT AUS!!!Funktioniert einwandfrei!!!
Link
“I am offering for sale this ARP 2601 (S/N 26010812) with matching 3620 keyboard controller (S/N 36200812). This unit is in spectacularly clean and well-preserved original condition. The entire system shows little to no use, and has obviously never been gigged out. Even the cases show very little wear! (I would be surprised if they were out of the storage closet little more than a few times…)
I acquired this synth from a university music department which was disposing of old unused equipment during a relocation. These cases were among several reel to reel players, turntables and 1/4″ patch bays, all destined for the trash!!!
The only change from stock is the addition of an IEC power connector (same as every computer). Sometime in the past, someone had attempted to use the wrong 3-pin power cord and snapped the ceramic between the hot and ground leads.
It would be great to keep this unit for myself and live out my childhood dreams of being Thomas Dolby, Jean-Michel Jarre, and every other early synth pioneer, but sadly I was born talentless. Therefore, I would love to see this go to a good home where it will make wonderful music once again…” Link
“Up for auction is…. my awesome Arp 2600. I DON’T want to sell it, but the wifey wants to go to Europe. And I wanna’ go with her!
Synth is in 100% perfect working order. Newer keyboard cable for the 3604 keyboard. Keyboard bushings replaced and it plays like butter. ” Link
“Arp 2600 Modular Analog Synthesizer with 3604P Keyboard. Synth in excellent cosmetic condition and 100% functional. Face is clean and jacks are bright and shiny. Sliders are all intact and function smoothly – not sticky. External case in excellent condition with all hardware intact. I am the second owner of this unit and have owned it since 1995. I found the synth to be “thin” sounding compared to the Moogs and Oberheims I was used to so in 1996 I sent the unit to Phil Cirocco at CMS and had the filter upgraded to the Blue Meanie filter that Arp was sued by Moog over and had to stop using it. That’s when the Arp “mosquito” effect started. With the new filter, the synth then had the full (phat) sound I was more accustomed to. Phil returned the original filter to me and will be included with the synth. I would keep it with the synth for historical purposes, but I’d never go back to that sound. Phil went over the entire synth, cleaned and tuned everything up to factory spec. The unit has seen very little use in my time of ownership and has never left the studio and always had a cover on it to prevent the dust from getting in the sliders. Take note that this model is the transition between the Blue Meanie and the later models – you can tell that from the lack of space on the face both above abd below the controls (serial # 263XX for those that can get a date from the serial number range). The newer units had about 3″ of blank space above and below the controls.
The 3604P keyboard is in very good condition. Control face is clean and keys clean and even, no cracks or cigarette burns like many I’ve seen. The external keyboard case shows more wear than the synth. Tolex isn’t torn, but worn (not frayed) on the edges. 1/2 of one of the latches (the lug part) has been replaced as it is attached with two screws instead of the factory rivets. Functions fine as a latch, though a little bit looser than the original. I would hope nobody planned on taking this on the road, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
The factory power cord and keyboard cable are included, both in fine shape – no breaks or tape.” Link
“Ok, here is the story. This is my Original Arp 2600 Synthesizer. I am the only owner. I purchased this in 1971 and it was only used in my home 16 track studio.
The synth is serial number 26173 and the keyboard is serial number 35194.
Now for the story, this was on display in my family room. A few months ago the cat knocked it over on it’s face. All of the modules work, however the top VCO 1 had it’s 2 sliders pushed back into the face plate. The VCO 2 had one of the sliders pushed back as well.
The last time I used it everything was working fine.
It will need these minor repairs. I was going to do them myself but I just don’t have the time or tools to do the job correctly. I don’t think it will cost too much or take too much time to fix for someone familiar with these great machines.
I have the full cases for both units and I will include the Original Manual and The Original Service Manual. I used to do all of the servicing on this synth and it was very easy to tune and keep tuned. I will also include an assortment of patch cords.
I really hate to part with it but I just feel it is time to put it in the hands of someone who can give it the TLC it needs.
This is a very specialized instrument so I expect only serious inquiries and bidders. I do have a reserve on it because I now its real value even in this condition of needing some repair. ” Link
“For sale is an Arp 2600 vintage analog synthesizer. This is the one you should get. It’s in excellent cosmetic condition, a few scruffs on the outer tolex, but the front face of the Arp itself is in flawless condition. The graphics overlay look amazing, very sharp and clear, no wear around the filter and oscillator sliders like other heavily used Arps have. See the pictures below for more details. It is fully functional and was recently serviced last winter by one of the the best techs in the bay area. He mentioned this was one of the cleanest Arp’s he’s ever seen. No rust, grime or mold on the interior and must have been stored in a dry, controlled climate for most of its life. Most old Arps have rust around the edges and on the interior, but this one is exceptionally clean and ensures that your electronics will be good for years to come. The only issue with this arp is one of the latches is non-working, as pictured. A very minor issue though. Needless to say, this older G clef 2601 model sounds incredible! It doesn’t include a keyboard, but it should work no problem with any CV/gate style analog keyboard or midi-cv converter. I have used it just fine with my Roland Sh-101 and Roland MPU-101. Comes with power cable. If there’s one synthesizer to have, this would be it. The range of sounds are still unparalleled.” Link
“Up for auction is my ARP 2600 (and keyboard) which I have had for at least 20 years. Serial number 26455. I personally have used it lightly so it has not aged more than its condition around 1990. I have taken a video of this 2600 in operation on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Er_6KyXT6s or do a search on “ARP 2600 Retrokeys”.
All the sliders and selectors appear functional, but I admit I am no expert on the 2600. One slider has a part of the shaft and knob missing (just saw a replacement here on eBay), but it is still usable as evidenced in the video. Also included are both covers for the main case and the keyboard. This 2600 comes complete with the original manual (put in sleeves in a binder for protection) as well as a fakebook or cookbook with sample patches to try including the Frankenstein patch. I have also included some cables and the rare shorting plugs. Within a week or so I will have for auction (not part of this one) the service manual (original schematics too) with addendums as well as a Roland MPU-101 (mint) to control the 2600 from midi.
One issue I found that I have a workaround for is that on power up, the left speaker was not working. It was working last time I had it on. I am not sure of the cause, but tried to plug a pc amped speaker into the left channel output and that worked fine. It actually has more high end than the stock right channel amp and adds to the sound. So when recording this from the two outputs (post reverb) you will have no trouble getting the full sound until someone has a look.
I will miss having this in my collection, I thought I would never let it go, but space is limited and it needs to be played. The condition is to be expected for a synth this age. there is also a latch missing on one of the covers, some of the sliders are dirty and can be heard as noise when moving a slider on the video. A professional cleaning and calibration would make this classic even better! Up for auction is a rare complete to original 2600 set including all the bits than can be found currently.” Link
“Up for auction is a very nice ARP 2600 Synthesizer cabinet. This auction is for the cabinet only (keyboard is not included).
This 2600 is in very good condition, and has been serviced and calibrated by NYC tech Steve Masucci. All of the sliders work and are very smooth.
The multi-pin connector for the keyboard has been replaced by a much sturdier XLR connector. Included is a XLR to mini cable that makes it very easy to interface with MIDI to CV convertors such as the Kenton Pro Soloist. The original multi-pin connector is included should you want to return the instrument to “stock”.
Also included is the original 2600 patch book.
The only issues are cosmetic. Part of one of the latches is missing, and there are some tears in the tolex. But the cabinet itself and the sliders are in excellent condition, and the synth just sounds great.” Link
“VIINTAGE ARP 2600 P SYNTHESIZER. NO KEYBOARD. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PROVE THIS BECAUSE I DON`T HAVE THE SYNTHESIZER KEYBOARD. ALL COMPONENTS ARE COMPLETE (SEE PHOTOS). IT HAD A LITTLE USE. THE STATE OF THE CONTROL PANEL IS TO A 99% IS OK. IT HAVE NOT WEAR MARKS IN THE CONTROL PANEL. NO DENTS OR SCRATCHES INSIDE. ONLY HAS LOST TWO SMALL BUTTONS OF THE CONTROL PANEL. I FOUND ONE INSIDE THE CASE, BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. THE CASE HAS SOME SIGNS OF WEAR BY THE TIME AND STORAGE CONDITIONS. BUT IT IS COMPLETE AND SOLID. DO NOT HAVE CABLES OR PLUGS. ” Link

“Early Grey Faced Arp 2600 for sale. Most likely manufactured in ’72. 14.5 inch panel height with silkscreening around the fine adjustment pots. This Arp has all of the original 4027 oscillators and 4012 filter. Long 17″ original spring reverb. I captured some pictures of the Arp internals. It is in excellent shape both functionally and cosmetically. There is some corrosion to the the case corners, and some expected tolex wear. Has matching serial number 3604p, tuning pot is sometimes a little scratchy. Speakers are replacements from synthfool from about 2 years ago.” Link

“Well here it is. If you are looking at this then you already know why you want it. This is a fully functioning early grey faced Tonus logo Arp 2600 v2.0 and companion 3604p keyboard with matching serial numbers. Please refer to the cms nexus for arp identification info, but this was probably manufactured in ’72. It has the short panel height of 14.5″ and silkscreen labels on the trim pots. The oscillators are 4027′s and the filter is, of course, a 4012. All of the modules are original. I am the second owner of this machine. It has been well cared for and is in excellent condition. The speakers were replaced about 3 years ago with proper replacements from synthfool.com as well as the handle on the 3604p. Everything is in fully functioning condition with all slider caps present. There is one plug for the trim pot adjustments missing. No wear on the silkscreen by the filter. The tuning pot on the 3604p has a tendency to be a little scratchy at certain points. Tolex is in good shape, with some lifting at the seem on the back. Metal corners have some surface corrosion. I have a set of 4 or 5 replacement slider shafts, not the whole slider, just the shafts. Naturally, you can have them. This is a fantastic piece, and I cannot believe I am selling it. ” Link
