DX-7, Yamaha @ 23 April 2010, Comments Off

“Here we have a great condition Yamaha DX-7. The unit’s internal battery is functioning well, and everything is working great! The usual minor scratches and scrapes you would expect on a used instrument this old. There is one very small piece of the plastic case on the one of the sides missing (about the size of a bandaid) This is unnoticable unless you are standing right next to the side of the instrument up close. This is only a minor issue, which does not detract from the quality of the instrument, and can be probably patched up with a piece of black tape or sheet metal very easily.

Included is a voice cartridge with wind instruments and such – enjoy! ” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“You are bidding on a Yamaha DX 7 FM Synthesizer. This synth is in good working condition. I have recently gone through it to make sure that it is functioning properly. I have not been able to find any issues with its functionality, however the unit is being sold as it due to its age. No dents just minor scratches that have come with age. All buttons/ sliders/battery/outputs/plugs are functional. Midi works great! Comes w/manual seen on picture.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“Yamaha DX-7 was the sound of the 80’s and the best of the DX-7s had the E! hardware upgrade from Gray Mater Response installed. When I got the keyboard it was non-functional due to a dead battery, I took it to an authorized service center and had it repaired. It is functional except the original sound banks have been lost and need reset. It comes with one external sound card. ” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

Model 800, Sequential Circuits @ 22 April 2010, Comments Off

“This is a very rare vintage piece, made by Sequential Circuits as an accessory for the the Prophet V. I doubt there were more than a few hundred ever made, if that many, so they are highly collectible. I’ve used it to run a Prophet, but I don’t see why it it couldn’t be used with any synth that has control voltages in and out.
As one of the first sequencers, it features a stunning capacity of 16 notes, which can be recorded in real time or step mode. (You can, however, loop a 16 note sequence infinitely.) Visually it is very cool to watch, as the LED above each note lights up as the sequence runs.
This unit is in perfect working condition-everything functions properly with no issues. Cosmetically, it is excellent, as you can see from the photos. The only thing you might not like is a sticker that says “Whirlwind” that’s on the top of the unit- put on by the previous owner-but this can be removed. If done carefully with a product such as GooGone, it should not leave any residue or damage at all. It comes with the original footswitch, also pictured.
You can pick this up from my midtown Manhattan location, or I will ship it anywhere at cost. ” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“This drum machine is in great condition, there is one scratch on the front as shown in the photos. I have had it for about 2 years and bought it from the original owner. It comes in the original box with it’s power cord and owner’s manual. Does not come with a cartridge, but I believe you can buy those from Wine Country (the company that supports Sequential Circuits gear). I have not spent much time programming it, so I cannot say that everything works 100% therefore it’s an as is sale.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

The synth has also recently been serviced and tuned up. The synth also includes a Calzone flight case.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

Drumtraks, Sequential Circuits @ 22 April 2010, Comments Off

“Up for bid is this vintage 1980′s drum machine.
By Sequential Circuits Inc. Drumtraks model 400. I have a bunch of equipment that was pulled out of a studio, please check my other auctions as I will be listing more.

I attempted to test this machine to the best of my ability, however my ability is pretty limited.
I simply connected a guitar cable to the audio out and into a small guitar amp. Please understand my knowledge of this unit is very limited but these are my findings.

I could not completely tell if everything is working or not. All of the drum buttons are working, at times when hitting the buttons repeatedly there was a delay in processing the sound. The volume knob is a little scratchy which could be fixed with some contact cleaner. The number keypad is working but I am not sure what it does. When I held down the accent button and used the drum keys it seemed to increase the volume. When I pressed the cassette save button the light came on and there was a slight hum, after that I could not select anything else until I powered the unit off then back on. The other functions I could not seem to get to do anything. (again it may just be that I do not know how to operate this unit)” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

“Unit is in good condition cosmetically.
The only issue it that the pitchbend does not work going from center to bottom. It does work going from center to all the way up.
Stores and holds patterns fine, just replaced the battery and had it serviced.

It’s in great cosmetic shape as you can see from the pictures. All Keys work, all other features function 100% and it sounds warm and clean.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

ARP, Avatar @ 21 April 2010, Comments Off

“For sale is a very rare Arp Avatar synthesizer. There were only a few hundred of them made. This was made to use with guitar but works really well as a CV controlled synth. It’s basically an Arp Odyssey without the keyboard. I have 2 Odysseys so I’m reluctantly parting with this collectors item.

It was recently serviced by Arp repair guru Phil Cirocco and mechanically is working as it should. Servicing cost me about $1000 so I will start bidding there. See the .jpg of my invoice for the servicing for a complete list of fixes and modifications or go here for a more complete explanation of the upgrades and repair Phil does on Avatars http://www.discretesynthesizers.com/arptronics/arp2200.htm

Also included is the Arp hexaphonic pickup that would be installed on your guitar. I do not have the cable that goes from the guitar to the Avatar however. I will include the Arp Avatar service manual and you should be able to make the cable yourself.

All of the sliders work properly but there are some missing slider caps unfortunately. They can be found here: http://www.discretesynthesizers.com/arptronics/arp2200.htm (look at the bottom of the web page).” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

ARP, Odyssey @ 21 April 2010, Comments Off

“I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS SYNTH. I BOUGHT IT AROUND 1985. IT WAS USED IN A STUDIO SITUATION FOR A BRIEF TIME (VERY LITTLE HOURS OF USE) AND THEN STORED. IT WAS NEVER ON THE ROAD. THIS UNIT WORKS PERFECTLY, AND HAS ALL THE SLIDER KNOBS. SOME SLIDERS MOVE SMOOTHER THAN OTHERS, BUT I AM SURE THERE ARE CLEANING PRODUCTS AVAILABLE FOR THE SLIDERS. THERE IS A MINOR STAIN ON BOTTOM EDGE OF THE LEFT SIDE, BUT DID NOT PENETRATE THE WOOD-LIKE MATERIAL. THE ANVIL CASE IN THE PICTURE IS NOT THE CASE FOR THE SYNTH, AND IS NOT PART OF THE AUCTION.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

Jen, SX1000 @ 20 April 2010, Comments Off

“For sale is this great vintage analog synthesizer from the old days, which has been a great alternative to my Minimoog a Sequential Circuits Pro 1 !

Made by Jen (inventors of the CryBaby Wah pedal ) in the 70′s In perfect working order, very user-friendly interface with loads of knobs to fiddle around with.

If you are new to analog synthesis (or would like to add this Jen to your collection) you will be amazed by the sonic possibilties of this little guy. Loads of sounds possible, from a classic Moog lead to EMS VCS3 like electronic experimentation.

4 Octave range (32′,16′, 8′, 4′) with square, sawtooth and pulse modulation, Analog filter with resonance knob, white/pink noise generator, LFO – and yeah, it looks cute.

Piece of advice: Try it with guitar fx ! It just LOVES chorus, flanger and delay.” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.

Cat, Octave @ 20 April 2010, Comments Off

“Beautiful OCTAVE ELECTRONICS INC, “The CAT” Duophonic analog “Electronic Music Synthesizer.” Serial #: A17xx. Model 1853. Made in Long Island City, NY (late 70′s).

This is very nice example of The Cat which has been recently serviced by Analog Synth Service (Greg Montalbano) in Oakland and received a clean bill of health (calibration, contact cleaning and some new caps). The synth sounds amazing and even though it’s modeled on the Arp Odyssey it sounds superior IMO with all discrete filter and oscillator, dual sub-oscillators, duophonic sample & hold, and more flexible/mixable waveforms. It sounds fantastic and is very stable.

There are a few small scratches on the face and some lost paint around the VCA volume, but overall very nice cosmetics and unworn lettering. The sliders work well with no scratchiness. The faux-wood side panels look good but have some rough plastic edges here and there (pic 11 shows the worst area). Also a very small name and serial number have been etched into the finish on the back right corner.

Octave Cats are just starting to be collectable as Odyssey prices continue to climb…get one while they’re still affordable. ” Auction ended. Click here to browse on eBay.
