ARP, Omni 1 @ 30 September 2009, “No Comments”

arpomni_ “This Omni is in good cosmetic condition (minor scratches on the top as pictured) which is unusual, especially for the original model. It has been recently serviced and the slider pots cleaned so that all adjustments during playing are smooth and crackle free. Three of the slider caps are missing. They of course do not effect the playing of this synth in any way but are purely an aesthetic concern. They can be ordered from the UK or found occassionally on eBay.” Link

The last 10 years, he was no longer used by me. Since I do not own odyssey more I can try out the avatar is no longer correct.
I switched it on and connected at the mixing board and could get only a sample and hold sound. The sliders are stiff.
I can not Defetkte ausschlieslich times and he would have to be overhauled. Therefore, they should know that if they bid for the avatar,

2600a “This is a vintage ARP 2600 analog modular synthesizer in great condition. This unit has barely been used – the original owner used it for a masters thesis in electronic music and I have barely played it since.

The ARP is in perfect working order and has just been serviced and re-calibrated by Analogics in Ohio and will ship directly from there (www.analogics.org). The synth has been converted for midi control, also by Analogis, with a Kenton midi kit.” Link 2600b2600c2600d2600e

arp_white_1 “ARP Odyssey Mk I – vintage analog synthesizer:

* Completely reconditioned and serviced! Works flawlessly 10/10!
* Rare! Mark I (White-face) model with thick, analog filters!
* 37 synth-style keys, all with new bushings and completely aligned and functional!
* True vintage analog synth!
* Gobs of modulation routing!

This synthesizer was purchased used from a friend, and to be honest, when I got it, it needed some love. I planned to keep this unit in my collection forever, so I took it to the area’s expert on ARP gear and had it completely serviced to factory spec. Unfortunately circumstances dictate that it’s time to sell!

I invested almost $800 to get this unit fully up to factory specification. The unit was COMPLETELY and thoroughly inspected by the foremost expert on ARP gear in this part of the US – I spared no expense and every issue was addressed! The invoice detailing repairs will be sent to the buyer with the unit. This unit works and sounds perfect, and is completely issue free! Every slider was replaced and calibrated to factory specifications, and they all slide effortlessly without dropouts and static.

Internally it’s 10/10 from the restoration. Cosmetically, I rate this 8/10 – There are two deep scrapes on the front panel – I have photographed them in detail, so please see the pics below. Otherwise this unit is in good condition, with only minor surface wear. I have left the unit in this condition because I believe it makes it more “authentic”. These cosmetic issues can be easily remedied should you feel otherwise. All of the unit’s factory labels/branding remain intact. Please see the photos in this auction, and ask me if you have any questions. I am happy to provide other pictures if you need them.” Link arp_white_2arp_white_3

aa_1 “Up for grabs is a used ARP Avatar guitar synth system. Originally released around 1977, it has been rumoured there was only 300 ever made. It was designed to be used with the hard to find and operate hex pickup system. NOT ANY MORE WITH THIS ONE!! This specific Avatar was modified by EMI in Minneapolis with a MIDI retrofit that allows you to use and access the sounds via any MIDI device/controller. And yes, it works! The Avatar has many of the same sounds and functions as it’s legendary family member, the Odyssey. This Avatar puts those famous tones at your fingertips, for a fraction of the price. We do not have access to a hex pickup so we were unable to test the front, thus we are selling it AS-IS.” Link aa2aa3

Cosmetic condition : Virtually spotless

Working condition: All voices working , all functions working .

Character:not really sure how i can sum up the oberheim stuff .American sound ?brassy ? well i dont know , its a lovely synth whatever and fat when needed to be , super warm but can also be stark and fm like. Its has a mad mad mod section , 4 lfos and really can make freaky sounds. Its 6 voice poly but can be set up to be 6 mono synths ! Has 6 audio outs or mix out and full midi .It can also play in cycle mode where it cycles between sounds/patches ……super cool for sequential stuff.I would say the overall chartacter is ‘ smooth and a bit 80’s ? ‘ the presets i loaded in are like a bit of a miami vice moment which i love but it can also be really tangerine dream like , its definately not a machine you can replicate with any other synth , i had the andromeda , it cannot do xpander sounds and ive had the matrix 1000 and that cant sound like this either .I would say this synth is really well suited to experimental and ambient music or anthemic trance and it is in essence a fully modular synth and really powerfull on that level.I have found this one very reliable and stable and it is a sublime synth at times and one i think i will regret selling ! despite some reviews this can have snappy envelopes and can do some searing lead sounds or the most subtle pads and waves. Its sfx are totally alien……superb for sfx work.” Link

elkarhapsody “This a collectors gem from 1975. All it does is the classic 70s string sounds AND its polyphonic! If you remember the ARP string Ensemble this sounds very very close to that sound. Used on 1,000 of albums back in the day including Tangerine Dream.

The sound is extremely buttery warm melt in your ears analog and cannot be reproduced by a sample in a computer. Why? Because computers are digital machines!

Comes with Elka hard case. Keys are nice and white and all are leveled. There are only two setting buttons Cello/Violas and Strings. The Cello works fine however the strings DO work but the output is low. This is a very easy fix Im not a tech and probably just needs a volume pot adjusted. Missing one slider cap but the slider is not broken and works fine.

Powers up fine, all keys make sounds and there is NO crackle either! ” Link

There’s an extra board labeled memory expansion on the inside, and there’s always been plenty of free memory (it tells you how much is left). I bought it a while back from a friend of Tom Oberheim and I think this was actually installed by the factory. The battery has been replaced a few years ago, but it hasn’t seen much use since then. The sounds are generated by 12 bit sample running through an analog Curtis filter, and it sounds fantastic. I will pack it with love and bubble wrap and insurance. It’s hard to find nice old drum machines in this condition with everything working, and whoever picks this up will have a really nice DMX.” Link

The system has been fitted with 1/4″ Audio Out for the Left and Right Channels and a panel mounted RCA Composite Video Out. The case showed some wear prior to the red and black splatter paint. Plus the RESET and POWER buttons have been swirl painted to add a unique effect. This probably making it the firt SNES with swirl paint. We will also be including a complete package to music composition on this instrument.

Included in the Pacakage:

- Super Gameboy: modified with a Pro Sound 1/8″ line out.

- Super Gameboy 2: This rare japanese import features a link port that allows for syncing.

- LSDJ cart V3.9.9 with coloring matching red/black sticker

- GB Transferer with software: Allows for transfer of data between your computer and the cart.

- Mario Paint with SNES Mouse: features a cool music application released by Nintendo!

- Super Gameboy Commander Controller: This rare japanese controller accesses features within the Super Gameboy to modify speed settings. This unqiue characteristic allows for pitch control over LSDJ with the Commander.

- Also included is a Gameboy link cable and a dual headed Power Supply that can power the SNES and GB Transferer. However a new Nintendo Power Supply is recommended.

These items have been collected over the years for our Studio Super Nintendo and are now available in this exclusive offer.” Link

Sonica @ 29 September 2009, “No Comments”

sonica_1 “Up for auction is the extremely rare Sonica, built by Frank Eventoff. Only 650 of these were ever produced, making it a highly collectible electronic device. Very few are now known to exist, even fewer in working condition.

In 1979, the first Sonicas were produced, a collaboration with Larry Heller. There were 650 built, but very few are seen nowadays. Serge Tcherepnin of Serge synthesizers (producer of high-end modular synths!) did the oscillator design, and the oscillator inside the Sonica is indeed a Serge oscillator. The neck is incredibly comfortable, and easily fits into the hand, facilitating the sliding action used for playing the Sonica. Creator Frank Eventoff’s neighbor in Silverlake was a modelmaker and carved the bodies – they produced them in runs of 24 at a time. The body is made from finely hand-carved mahogany. Donna Summer bought one of the runs of 24 and created a Sonica Orchestra.

The sound of the Sonica can best be described as somewhere between a sitar and violin. When run through a simple delay, an amazing array of soundscapes are derived. The front panel features a Key/Pitch Knob, and an On/Off Volume Knob. It also features three buttons. “Slider,” which is a tremolo type effect, “Tone,” which is actually a tonal boost, and “Half-Step,” which raises the note an octave. It features a built-in speaker, with an 1/8 inch output to connect to an amplifier or recording device. It runs on one 9-volt battery which is installed by accessing a plate on the backside of the device. The Sonica really shines when sent through a tube amplifier, producing a crystalline sound unlike anything I’ve heard before.

This unit for auction is in very good shape cosmetically and works as it should. Because of the age of the electronics, it’s being sold as-is with all sales final. Will ship this item worldwide. Free shipping is only for the US. International to pay actual postage cost.

Very conservatively, there are probably a couple hundred of these in working condition today, most of which have been abused in one way or another. This one is in great cosmetic shape and was purchased NOS from an original investor. Since being purchased, it has been played briefly.

This device includes the original carrying case, original owners manual, warranty registration card (unused), and a business card from Frank Eventoff at Sound Instruments. ” Link sonica_2sonica_3

Elka, Synthex @ 29 September 2009, “No Comments”

elka_1 “Hallo,

very reluctantly, I’m forced to sell my ELKA SYNTHEX vintage analog MIDI polyphonic synthesizer.

It’s been bought in Milan, Italy, in 1985 by my ex-piano teacher who kept it in his clean studio through 20+ years before
selling it to me.

It is complete by its factory MIDI interface (plugged in the rear interface, see pic), the original metal stand including the vinyl carrying case.

It sounds very terrific and still looks beautiful and nearly new. There’s a small scratch in the right wooden side (see pic) but that’s it.

This synth sounds way better than many other machines I’ve had, including the Prophet 10 and the Oberheim 4 Voice, not to mention its
deep programmability and the chance of having 3 different filters onboard, a 4 tracks sequencer and the joystick.

In addition, I’ll give the winner a small collection of original articles concerning the Synthex I found on vintage magazines, such as
Keyboard (DE and US) and Beat Instrumental.

The Synthex will be shipped with the original factory patches preloaded in, plus a backup of the patches in Sysex. format.

Shipping:
The Elka Synthex is a heavy and delicate machine, and it will be shipped worldwide with UPS courrier ONLY, as they are, to my
knowledge, the only company who can take care of pick it up at my place and professionally pack it and ship it through the globe.
This will end up being expensive, but I want the winner to receive the synth in the same exact perfect conditions the synth will
leave my studio alike.
So that, the shipping cost indicated below is purely indicative.” Link elka_2elka_3elka_4

The keys are in good condition and the wooden cabinet has cosmetic blemishes but is sound. I looked inside her and there was no indication of any blown out parts or cracked boards, however there is lots of muck and dust. I’m sure someone with the knowledge could ressurect this lovely old vintage synth and get it playing again or at least salvage its parts. Sold as spares and repairs and not working. MKS-80, Roland @ 27 September 2009, “No Comments”

Link

The 606 allows switching between Pattern Play and Write mode while running – making the 606 the only drumcomputer in the X0X series that can be edited while performing and switching patterns. No other items except for the vinyl case, the machine and the power supply. .

The rhythm machine is in good shape. Some light surface wear from the original owner. The volume pot knob is the on switch as well as the volume knob. This knob needs a little contact cleaner. It turns on a little scratchy. All other functions seem to work. Since I don’t have the book and I can’t remember how to make it work completely. My guess is that all is in good shape. The volume knob is the only pot that needs cleaning as stated above regarding the scratchy sound when 1st turned on. It measures 11 1/2 length x 6″ width x 1 3/4″ height. AX-7, Keytar, Roland @ 27 September 2009, “No Comments”

ax7_1 “You are bidding on a Roland AX7 keyboard controller. I have many good memories and it was a lot of fun to play on gigs. I no longer play out so I can’t use it. I hope it will bring joy to someone who plays out like it did me. Everything works on it. The unit does have some scuff marks from being moved around. I am the original owner. I will also include a guitar stand (Hamilton KB-37 Chromed steel) – stand will be shipped separately.

Here is what comes

AX-1, Keytar, Roland @ 27 September 2009, “No Comments”

ax1 “Up for sale is a Roland AX-1B keytar MIDI controller. This keyboard works 100%, is lightweight, and has an excellent action. The AX-1 was originally released in red, and then they re-released this one a few years later in black. This unit has 45 velocity sensitive keys, the ability to switch octaves up and down, 32 patch programmable memory, a volume knob, sustain button, expression bar and pitch bender. This is great for the stage, and works well with any wireless MIDI unit (not included). The unit takes 6AA batteries (included!), and the battery holder and battery cover are present. This is a MIDI controller, so it does not produce sound on its own, but can be used to control any MIDI keyboard or rack unit that has a MIDI in port. The unit has a few small scratches and scuffs, but nothing that takes away from its ability to be proudly displayed or used on stage. ” Link ax1_2

MRS-2, Roland @ 27 September 2009, “No Comments”

mrs2_1 “Why buy a MRS2 that will need a service -here is a near mint condition Roland ProMars MRS2 Analog Synth Vintage with Roland factory hard case–Looks very similar to Jupiter 4 but it is a monophonic and sounds entirely different to JP4 because of second VCO and detune option and extra freq knob
The other advantage of MRS2 over JP4 is the CV/Gate in and out sockets and thus the ability to sequence with a midi to cv device I have been using a Kenton Pro Solo 2 model –(not included)

The Promars/MRS2 is also the first programable Roland Synth and quite rare I think a really good monophonic will always beat any poly for bass and sequencing –MRS2 sounds great with VCO2 detuned and sub oscillator on

Please note this is the 100 Volt AC Japan model and has been restored for long life . The work involved new caps/voltage regulators and memory chip, backup battery etc -looks and plays like a new machine.” Link mrs2-2

Parphonic 505, Roland @ 27 September 2009, “No Comments”

505_1 “This is a rare Roland Paraphonic 505 synth in perfect condition. Everything works perfectly, cosmetically almost flawless (I would just never say anything is “flawless”) But nothing that I can see. This is a rare opportunity to get one at a great price. Here are some details about the Paraphonic. It has strong string section and split keyboard with parallel inputs for the Chorus. Nice for blending of other instruments as well with the three mode chorus device for other musical signals to be blended. This instrument has never had a moments trouble. The RS-505 Paraphonic has all of the “latest” design features The string section, Polyphonic Synth and Bass are three independent tone generation sections. Not to mention the various options available with the polyphonic glide. Attack and release of the Bass section and balancing of all three sectionscomplete this balanced system. The controls give you great variety of settings including the trimming of the filters and the advanced features of the day that were included by Roland. Even a VCF jack for foot pedal control of the filters. and Trigger and Gate jacks. Truly one of the landmarks of the synth field of entries.” Link

Korg, SQ-10 @ 26 September 2009, “No Comments”

korgsq10 “The KORG SQ 10 is an Analog sequencer made in Japan in 1978 . It’s a very good old-school sequencer . Designed for the MS series synthesizers and using Korg’s CV / Gate control the SQ-10 sequencer can really surprise you with some groovy basslines. Use the knobs to adjust and build up a sequence. When you hook that up to your MS-10, MS-20 or MS-50 you can get some pretty cool TB-303 like stuff happening. Because the SQ-10 outputs CV (Control Voltage) it can be connected to the Oscillators, VCF filters or LFO’s of your MS synths for even cooler tricks. Using a CV / Gate converter allows you to use the SQ-10 with other Roland, Moog, Sequential and even MIDI synthesizers. It’s definitely a fun instrument which allows you to program basslines like they did back in the early days ! .This KORG SQ 10 is in good cosmetic and is in perfect working order ! It will comes with his original packaging. If you’ve got questions , feel free to ask me” Link
